The sun was unrelentless this afternoon as the classes and examinations for the day were letting out, beating down upon a group of recruits as they made their way out to an area on the grounds near to the Flying class space and the gates that led to a winding path that would, eventually, take students to Hogsmeade if they chose to go that way. Not today, though - today, the group of students would take a sharp left and find, as if by magic, what appeared to be a brand-new rainbow court waiting for them.Link to Summoner's Court System: link here!! In fact, the court was not new, but centuries old, older even still than Headmaster Lear. It had been overgrown by shrubbery in these last decades, but on a mysterious mission from an unknown source, a seventh-year Ravenclaw had discovered the court and cleared it off for use again in the modern day. Summoner's Court was back at Hogwarts, but before it could be opened to the wider populace, it needed a test run. Aly was just the person to test this, and she had recruited students of all ages and years to play in teams against each other in an attempt to figure out this most complex and exciting sport.
Though there was no audience (yet- maybe some people would come later, attracted by the noise), Aly was used to commentating sports. "Hello, you lot, and welcome to our test Summoner's Court match. Though I'll be graduating next month, maybe you could help bring this game to the rest of the student body next year - but only if this one goes well! I want a nice, sportsmanlike match, so be kind to each other. I've set up your stones already, so, well... let's get into it!"
After explaining the rules, Aly pointed at the players on the first team, naming them out by surname as she did so. "All right, then. On team A, we'll have Connor, McCoire, Winfield, Everhart, and Yan on the first string, and then Merrick and Lyons, you two head to the bench. And as for team..." She consulted her parchment again. "B, I suppose, there's Gilmour, Barfield, Xiang, Clark, and Oak, and that means Vidler and Norwood, you two are off to the bench as well. Everyone know where they're supposed to be? Okay... let's begin!"

Alyss felt very much out of place, in a very familiar location. The Outdoor Club Area was the space used for Broom Racing—what the second-year considered to be her sport. This new concept, involving spell-casting galore, almost like the muggle game of curling should have been beyond her. She shouldn’t be here.
And yet, there she was, wand in hand, stood atop the Summoners Court platform. While the Slytherin may have felt unsure of herself, one thing hadn’t changed. Alyss liked to win. So, you ask? Game on.

Sabrina dragged her feet to the outdoors club area with visible stuggle. Her cheeks and nose, both already dusted red from the sufficating heat, held a few streaks of badly rubbed out sun-screen, a proof of one of the girl's many attempts at surviving the blinding sun. Looking up at it with squinted eyes, she groaned. She hoped her sensitive english skin would survive the burn of scottish sun. Preferably unharmed.
Her hair had grown since the last time she's cut it on the day of that year's spring ball, allowing the girl to split in into two braids which she then pinned to her scalp with clips, both hidden under her loosened cap. Neither helped to cool her down. Fanning her face with her hand, almost as if waving off the speech she was barely listening to, she turned to her teammate and maybe-a-friend-question-mark: Cecilia (@Cecilia Merrick).
'Merlin, this is unbearable. I swear I was not created for this weather, I'll surely melt.'

It was a warm day, and he relished it. It was a reminder that summer was almost here. He arrived, and listened as best he could while the older Ravenclaw spoke. It was a shame he was put on the bench, but it was probably for the best. Being directed there, he took a seat. Looking over both his teammates, as well as their competition, he couldn’t help but feel hyped. «Good luck everyone, let’s kick some ass!»

Confusion shrouded Meiyu's mind, perplexed as to why she had found herself in the outdoor club amidst scorching weather on the first day of June. It was nowhere like duelling where she could fixate her frustrations into a weird desire to cause physical harm on her opponents — here, she had to be cordial, which she despised.
Following behind the new Gryffindor Prefect with arms longer than sticks, Meiyu exhaled drawing her wand, rolling her eyes at the Irish Slytherin whom she had disliked since their first year Charms class. She had zero expectations, zero hopes, just lingering desires to rot away in her dormitory away from the blazing sun.

Kaitlyn rotated her right arm as she gently stretched while walking to the outdoor club area. This year, she spent a lot of time in this area … practicing her broom-racing skills for the Brisk Basilisks. So, she was used to being out here … just not in this context … for she will be part of a sport, just without flying. This new one was for … summoner’s court. It sounded interesting, at the very least!
Her heels clicked as Kaitlyn moved to stand with the rest of her team, awaiting the start of this match. “Let’s win this,” she encouraged her teammates with a smile.

This game was the stuff of legend. Literally! Colin had seen references in dusty old journals, but had no idea what it was all about. Just that it was an old game that had apparently fallen out of favour at Hogwarts. It was the sort of thing elderly wizards did after a few rounds of mank smelling fire whisky. A lot of high class mansions had courts etched into the floor of their game rooms, though were often covered up with rugs. Colin had never seen the game played. Well, that is, until Aly Salinger roped him in to this scheme of hers to bring the game back to Hogwarts! So, with nothing more to go on, Colin headed down to the Outdoor Clubs and saw what Aly had been on about!
Aly droned on about the rules. Pfft. Rules! Colin rolled his eyes. "Rules are for o---" he began in a hushed whisper. Wait. As she went on, Colin's natural smirk grew slightly. This wasn't just that scuffle board game he'd heard about in Muggle Studies. Why Muggles had to earn points whilst fighting each other on a board was beyond Colin. But this summoner's court began to really sound interesting!
The game actually seemed like it would be super fun to play, and as the seventh year assigned them all to teams to work on their plans, Colin felt like this was a game missing at Hogwarts. Maybe of no one actually died being bonked by a random zinging stone, they'd allow it to continue!

Sensing the scorching sun heat her skin, Cecilia quickly gathered most of her hair into a ponytail. Still, a few auburn strands stubbornly clinging to her forehead as beads of sweat formed. Every now and then she would pat her face with her handkerchief whilst lightly fanning herself.
“I’m with you,” she nodded in agreement with her sports buddy. Though they had only ever seen each other in official sports and exchanged brief greetings, Cecilia was rather fond of the girl who seemed to share the same interests as her. Perhaps their time on the bench would allow them to bond further.
“I wish I could have a swim... or a bite of an ice cold popsicle,” she lamented.

Erast winced at the glare of the sun as he joined the others at the Outdoor Club Area. The heat was terrible. He parted Cecilia's arm with a playful sigh, "Hang in there, Cece. There is much to live for." To be frank, it was unusual that he exited the castle at this time, much less in this awful weather. However, there was a purpose– Sports. The invite to try his hand out at a sport called 'Summoner's Court' had come at a time where the brunet would pout at his desk, thinking of the dust that his Silver Arrow had been gathering in his wardrobe. It was... Different. No brooms, just magic. So weird...
So exciting–! Erast shook away his anxiety with flicks of his hand. At the kind encouragement by one of his his teammates, who was a fellow prefect named Kaitlyn, the brunet bunched up his fists with a smile. "Yes, let's do it!"

Time flew like a little bird that wouldn’t come back after learning how to soar. Secretly, June had sneaked onto the calendar. Graduation was nearing. Somehow, she didn’t spend more time with her friends, but she got into a new sport. It centered on casting spells, which Rosaline wasn’t used to because she was more of a Quidditch player. Yet she was excited for today’s game. It would be a fresh experience with some of her friends together.
As she joined her teammates, she saw Cece and Erast; also, another familiar face was Sabrina. The heat was unbearable. She realized that they were all prefects of their respective houses. That was a fun coincidence. “Hello. Who wants some popsicles? Let’s get them together,” she greeted them with a playful grin, "after we win this game." Perhaps it was the hot weather, which ignited Rosaline’s competitive spirit.
