Ultraviole(n)t vs. the Blanks
The first day of the Games had come and gone, and now it was time for the second day of festivities and lighthearted competition: the Ice Hockey tournaments, taking place in the early evening. So as to avoid tiring out the student athletes, each team of four would only play one match, and the judges sitting on the sidelines of Lake Bear would judge based on points scored and showmanship who exactly would win the gold medal.
This event is part of the 2026 International Magical Olympic Games. February 17th, 2026 Lake Bear (frozen), Russian Federation
The judges were, as usual, made up of a panel of headmasters from the various international schools. @Aulis Vorozheykin, as the host of the Games, sat on one end; then down the line came @Alan Dolus from Ilvermorny, @Lawrence Maynard of Tenūsa, and finally Durmstrang's @Emery Albrecht. There were also (anonymous, undescribed, and unnamed) referees who would be up close and personal with each match, ensuring that no cheating would dare make it past their scrutinising eyes.
The match at present was Ultraviole(n)t versus the Blanks. The former team boasted completely international students, a trio from Durmstrang with their fourth member hailing from Tenūsa, whilst the latter team - who had neglected to sign up with a team name at first, and thus been assigned their rather apt moniker - also had two Durmstrang attendees, but additionally a pair from Hogwarts.
Let the games begin...
HOW TO PLAY
There will be three rounds, each requiring a post of 200+ words. Please make sure you include your character's stats and abilities in your post (NO broom stats; you are not riding brooms).
Each round, you must perform an action from the Hockey Actions List. These are similar to the Quidditch Actions, but not all actions from Quidditch can be utilised in Hockey. As such, please carefully consult the list before deciding what action to play.
Other than the changes of actions, all other Quidditch rules apply, including order of rolls and penalty laps.
The sport of ice hockey has also introduced something called a showmanship point. Note that showmanship points will only be gained if the action is successful, and some actions can lose you showmanship points even if successful. At the end of the matches, in case of a tie in goals, showmanship points will be used to break the tie - but if a team has more goals, they win, plain and simple. Your first objective should be to score goals, and showmanship points come secondary.
At least one member of the team must owl the entire teams' action list to Aulis Vorozheykin before the posting deadline.
This event is moderated and it was required to sign up for it ahead of time. Please do NOT post here if your character is not signed up.
Please do not godmod Aulis or any of the other judges.

Jarden Ardelis had never skated before. It was a miracle he could even stand. Regardless he prided himself on adaptability, so it would work out just fine. At the beginning of the trip he had certainly not been planning on participating, but it seemed the world had other ideas. It was merely left to be decided if it were a good thing or a very, very bad descison indeed. Somewhere along the time of his visit to Koldovstoretz Magnus, Vasilius, and Rafael had managed to cocerce him into being their fourth team member. When they did so, how, or why he'd said yes were still a mystery. But who says no to trying something new? Not Jarden, unfortunately.
The ice was thick, foggy in some places and achingly clear in others. Almost like you could fall right in and be lost in the darkness. He shook the thought out of his head, the white plumes of breath still surprising no matter how long he stayed at the frigid school. Such a stark change of scenery had him fascinated, zoning in and out as small details caught his eyes. Snow was... different to say the least, and skates against ice felt like a foreign sensation.
Words of encouragement had always been rather odd and difficult to come up with. Especially without sounding absolutely... well, Jarden didn't know like what, but something that got severely judged in others' minds. So he settled with something neutral, quick and easy, but personal enough that it wasn't completely generic. "Try not to slip, and maybe refrain from getting fowled out?" Jarden's knowledge of Magnus was limited to the little time they had known each other, but he seemed to be a bit more aggressive than your average guy. As for the first part of his warning, it was more for himself than any of the others.
Winning was a slim possibility, considering he was in the middle of it all and he hardly knew anything about hockey before the few days prior. The hope was that enthusiasm might make up for most faults. And who knew, maybe the other teams was even worse? Though likely not, as life always seemed to have a way with misfortune.

Mentions:@Magnus Blackwood, @Jarden ArdelisIf someone had told Vasilius a couple of months ago that he'd step out of his self-imposed exile of solitude and even dare to join a hockey team, he'd have laughed them in the face, but there he was, making his way to the lake, which was going to be their rink of the day.
The sound of skates scraping through the ice was audible even before the lake itself could bless his eyes. At this moment, it all felt real; he had signed up; now he gotta play, no matter the circumstances. The makeshift rink, for its part, was decent, but what caught his eye was a familiar blonde idiot, gliding around, as if the ice belonged to him. It was not that Vasilius didn't like him, he was just too loud to be in his space.
On the other hand, Jarden seemed to be in a rather deep thought, which wasn't wrong on his part, being his first time ice skating, which increased Vasilius's skepticism about the brunette's ability. Of course, he didn't bother spilling it out; it was not like he cared if they won or not. For his defense, he was there for the sake of being there.
Finally, he rolled his shoulder forward lazily as he stepped into the ice, the winter air sharply filling his lungs as he pushed forward, trying to get used to the ice. He found his focus drifting, not towards his team, but rather towards his mind, the thought that perhaps his exile had finally begun to thaw.

A lot of things had happened since Camilla had found herself in Hogwarts. Cool things, strange things, and things where she could not rightly explain what exactly had happened.
This, it seemed, was one of the latter. For all that she had wanted to do was promote basketball, she had first found herself drafted into the Hufflepuff Quidditch team as a chaser. And one thing led to another and then another and now here she was, placing ice hockey of all things, This was no joke.
"Gaaaaah," she whined. How did she keep getting herself into situations like this? Were the gods of basketball simply upset with her to the point that she would find herself in ANY sport other than the one that her heart truly yearned for?
Well, whatever. However she had ended up with this bad of misfit Durmstrang kids, she'd at least do her best to make an interesting showing of it. Maybe. Perhaps. Hopefully, she might even end up having fun.
"Three rounds. It's just. Fifteen. Scrimmages." She muttered to herself, trying to psyche herself out. This wasn't even her sport, and she was sure the other kids at least practiced this seriously. "You can do this!"

Never in his wildest dream would Arno had believed anyone if they were to tell the boy of his future, one where he actually made the decision to play Ice Hockey of all things. Arno played Quidditch for the durmstrang team, and that too was only a choice made out of necessity to share Boram's company more than his absence from the team would allow.
But this team, even Arno wasn't completely sure about it's formation or the members of this coalition, yes, coalition was the right term. None of the members knew Arno; excluding Remedy, who was a recent Durm transfer and one of the few people Arno knew to be like him. Transferring from one school to another.
He did wonder why in the world anyone would transfer to this Ice sheet wasteland, but he was among the idiots who did so and grew attached enough to not plan his leave. Maybe it was the air in Durm, filled with the scent of passion, of a sense of belonging so profound it left it's impact on your despite your apprehension.
The other two students, as far as Arno confirmed came from Hogwarts, no shit to them, but after the incident that took place A while ago, Arno yet wasn't very comfortable with the idea of seeing the man again or the School of doom where incident after incident kept pouring in from all sides.

Oonagh was not entirely sure how she had ended up signing herself up for yet another journey, but she would simply take every excuse to skip some classes and find more places to cause shenanigans at. It was simply the way she was.
This area was definitely colder than expected. Then again perhaps she would have expected this with the sports and events that were being offered. So she had found herself signing up for the game she thought would be most fun, ice hockey. She had not actually played before but she has seens and walked across plenty of frozen lakes and whacked a lot of students with the bludger out of the sky. So how much more difficult could it truly be?
Whatever, she was here for the competition and the fun of it all. She had found herself on a team with students she knew barely anything about. Except perhaps the girl from the badgers whomst she had competed against in a few Quidditch matches.
Whatever. She was not here to make friends but to make the opponents eat some snow. So with ample determination she stepped onto the ice with the hockey stick in her hand.
Time to take the other team down.

The merciless, wrathful gods' cruel hand had played the Norden heiress once more, and like a vile band of orcas, Remedy was toyed and tormented time and time again, simply biding time for the final strike.
Daresay, the Durmstrang transferee prayed death's gentle kiss would befall her soon—there was nothing she loathed more than being cold. One would ponder if the Norden-Leveret genealogy was truly cursed, or perhaps Remedy simply cared far too little about the trajectory of her formerly pristine life and what it was reducing to. Perhaps it was penance for the undeniable black stain upon their legacy, and Remedy was a more enjoyable victim than her kin. Who was to say?
At least today, she recognized her undoing would be no one's fault but her own—admitted like a true masochist. Ice hockey was not a sport that Remedy would willingly involve herself in nor was anything that would expose her porcelain skin to biting temps, yet here the Alptraum girl stood among her band of misfits. Jesus.
One could thank those same vengeful gods that at least one face was recognized: Arno Dorian. A polite nod was directed towards her Durmstrang teammate, yet the other two received an irksome, boombastic sideye.
Let's just get this stupid game over with, she mused with a desolate sigh.

Ultraviole(n)t vs. the Blanks

ULTRAVIOLE(N)T vs. BLANKS Post 1.═════════════════════════════════════════════════════════Once. Twice. Rafael Fietje Kraus tapped his skate's blade against the lake, a skyline-silver expanse that once overlooked the foreboding, jagged mountains that roamed the horizon. Now, their peace and grandeur were mocked by the litter of spectators. The International Magical Olympic Games were to blame for their presence.
It was not that the young Kraus detested Vorozheykin for curating such an event (considering it gave his Vater the opportunity to send his son abroad to attend and immerse himself in experiences)... but rather he believed the flamboyancy of a muggle event turned magical just seemed unsound.
However, in an effort to bring back even the slightest silver of news, Rafael had found himself begrudgingly signing up to participate in Ice Hockey – of all things – amongst the members of his yurt, including @Magnus Blackwood, @Jarden Ardelis, and @Vasilius Nighthawk, none of which the Kraus was particularly fond of. As a result, he had chosen to resign himself as ‘Goalie’, residing towards the ends of the arena. This he did after the final tap of his heel against the darkened surface, pushing off the solidity of soil.
Whilst there was little interest harboured in Hockey, Rafael’s residence in the Alps and his Vater’s incessant edict to familiarise the young Kraus with skates had contributed to the smooth glides across the ice. This gentle, almost immaculately lissome dance contrasted with the glacial expression on his face as he manoeuvred around Ardelis, who seemed to be struggling more than Rafael appreciated him to do so. His lips curled down slightly. The news he hoped to take back home may not be as promising as he had hoped.
This being said, there was little expectation for the others. Even scoundrels such as the whining ginger before him @Camilla Carter could see the inevitable loss that awaited. Kraus’ only applicable motive was to satisfy his role in the match in the eyes of his elders. So be it.
