Appearance: Light blonde hair that when glinting under sunlight looks like strands of wealth. Soft blue eyes that dull at the sight of anyone outside the Kraus family. A sharp nose, with thin and lightly defined lips. There was nothing overly striking about Rafael’s appearance, with the exception being his hardened expression accompanying his pleasant facial features. Raised to perfect the skill of archery, the boy grew to have a lean build with wiry strength. Still youthful, his shoulders were hinting at broad, not bulky.There was subtle muscle definition in his arms from years of practice with the bow and wand. He was usually seen with a clenched jaw and tensed posture, his lips stretching in a thin line and his head held high.

Personality: Rafael Kraus has a hard time expressing his feelings. When first meeting him, you'll come face to face with an expressionless face devoid of a smile. You could consider him unlike his twin brother, Gabriel, who radiated with charm. However, much to his father's approval, Rafael takes blood superiority seriously and believes that Muggle-borns are nothing but a lost cause. Voicing out his opinions in a passive aggressive manner, Rafael's cold exterior is barely different from his soul that seems to lack positivity. All Rafael cares about (besides his beloved brother, the only person you will probably glimpse a tiny grin around) is to fulfill the duty of the Kraus family and hold the responsibilities his father had withheld all these years. Redeeming his father's approval is not the same as wanting to revel in his affection. Tension within the family caused the young Kraus to aim for nothing but success. Anything else too mellow would cause him to break, and that was not what he wanted.

Backstory: Rafael Fietje Kraus was born on October 8th, 2012, in the outskirts of Salzburg, Austria, to Gelvira Kraus and Reinhard Kraus. As the firstborn of the twins by a mere two hours, Rafael was immediately designated the heir of the House of Kraus, a position steeped in duty and tradition. This role came with immense expectations of a successful future, resulting in Rafael's childhood being less carefree but more of a rigorous schedule of tutorials and accompanying his father to gatherings or meetings, where he developed a keen sense for strategy and forged strong connections from a young age.

The Kraus family's traditionalism extended to Rafael's upbringing as well, where he was taught archery as a tool of precision and a source of defense before receiving his wand five years later. To this day, however, Rafael is constantly seen with his bow and arrow, practising wherever and whenever he can. This was because Archery simply wasn't just a skill. Back at Schlangennest, their ancestral estate secured in the Alps, Rafael used this as a form of escape from the cold and dark confines of the indoors, much rather finding solace in the training pitch. It was there that he could be found practising his ability on the bow and arrow or in the garden, helping his sister tend to the flowers. However, his disdain for the Muggle-born gardener was evident as Rafael either ignored or dismissed the man's attempts at kindness with a scowl on his face.

When Rafael joined Durmstrang Institute, he stayed close to Gabriel, feeling a subtle sense of responsibility for his younger twin. As such, he quickly found himself in the dueling club, a decision influenced by their father, a former duelist of Durmstrang. Rafael realised how similar archery and dueling were and excelled in the combative magic, honing his skills in defensive charms, jinxes, hexes, healing spells, anything he could get his hands on. His dedication was driven by a desire to gain his father's recognition and to prove the Kraus family worthy, solidifying his role as the heir to the Kraus legacy.


First Magic: Rafael was practising archery one day at the age of 8. Unlike his other training sessions, Rafael had decided to do so in the Kraus’ garden, where his sister had been gardening close by. Having decided to accompany her by simply existing, Rafael had lifted the bow up, stretching the arrow backward as he silently aimed for the center. Just as he released it, Rafael happened to glimpse a stray butterfly wandering over the target spot, idling over the center. Panicked, Rafael gasped and reached out as if trying to hold the arrow back. In an instant, the arrow, so very close to smashing through the board, halted midair. The butterfly escaped unscathed, and Rafael's first instance of magic developed an unwavering interest in butterflies. Had he not known of wizardry, the boy might have thought that butterflies held such power within them.
