Summoner's Curling Spectator Thread
It was time for the third and final sport that would be played here on the ice of Lake Bear, with students lined up on the shores to watch this early morning event as the sun broke its shimmering golden rays over the snowy atmosphere. Tomorrow's event would be in the mountains, but for today only, the students would take on the magically enhanced version of a Muggle sport known as curling: an attempt to hit a target in front of them by Summoning faraway stones and letting go of the spell at just the precise moment. If they were accurate in their aiming and in their timing, the stones would slide perfectly onto the centre of the target and win them the coveted 50-point mark; if they were not so accurate, they might be lucky enough to win 40, 30, 20, or 10 points if they managed to scrape various parts of the target... or none, if they did not at all touch it.
This event is part of the 2026 International Magical Olympic Games. February 19th, 2026 Lake Bear (frozen), Russian Federation
The judges did not sit on the dais this time, but instead were down on the ice, scrupulously inspecting the final location of each curling stone and marking down the awarded amount of points on their sheet. The first judge was, of course, the Games' host @Aulis Vorozheykin; he was joined by @Solomon Lear from Hogwarts, @Alan Dolus of Ilvermorny, and finally Mahoutokouro's new @Kotoka Sako. These scrutinizing Heads of various international schools would ensure that no cheating, nudging, unsportsmanlike conduct, or untoward actions would occur!
The students who were participating in this event huddled in a group on the other side of the lake, ready to be called forward one by one in a randomised order (to promote fairness). Closer to the judges, a giant target had been painted on the ice by the skillful magic of the four Heads, consisting of a total of five rings: the outermost blue ring that would score 10 points, the second-outermost red ring that was worth 20, the middle blue ring that was worth 30, the second-innermost red ring that was worth 40, and finally the tiny white circle in the centre that was worth 50 whole points. Students would try to slide curling stones across the ice towards them using the Summoning Charm, hoping for their stone to land perfectly in the white 50 and for every opponent's stone to sail past theirs without so much as a touch.
Of course, there were also plenty of onlookers gathered to cheer on their friends and spectate the events, both for the younger years and the elders! Who will be victorious among these competitors? Let's wait and see together...

Summoner's Curling Spectator Thread

Aly Salinger had saved her cutest outfit for the third day of events, the Summoner's Curling matches. What an intriguing sport this one was. Though Aly had never played Summoner's Court, the non-ice version of the event, before, she'd certainly seen games out on the Hogwarts lawn during her seven years at school, and she had to admit that the idea had piqued her interest enough that she had almost signed up herself. Journalistic curiosity and integrity had won out over her desire for a gold medal, though - she had one international trophy already (from the potions competition last year), so a second one just seemed excessive. And in the end, the curly-haired Ravenclaw was glad she hadn't opted in to this sport, for if she had, she would have ended up going head-to-head with none other than Kavi. The glowing, dark-haired boy from Tenūsa who had so captured her interest twice now, first in the chilly Valentine's-era mountain ranges of Beauxbâtons a year ago and then last month under the bright warm sun of his home school.
Instead, she was here to cheer him on, all bundled up in her mahogany-and-black houndstooth pea coat, her hair partially slicked back to keep it out of her eyes but with enough of its traditional bushy curl still left loose to give her head some volume. Despite the early-morning call time, the Ravenclaw seventh-year had spent ages on her makeup, waking up early enough to make sure each lash behaved and no speck of lip gloss was out of place. As she took her now-too-familiar place along the shores of the frozen Lake Bear, in one of the probably-Transfigured chairs along the rocky beach, Aly cast her gaze out towards the participants in the event, readying her astronomical-themed camera and parchment pad to take notes. A girl could multitask between daydreaming over a handsome lad and carrying out her actual job, you know.
If Kavi (or Haven, her other friend from Hufflepuff who was also participating in this event and for whom Aly would also be rooting!) happened to spot her in the stands, she would give them a cheerful wave. Perhaps she'd even blow a kiss to Kavi, if she felt brave enough. But probably not...
