Summoner's Curling Years 2-4
It was time for the third and final sport that would be played here on the ice of Lake Bear, with students lined up on the shores to watch this early morning event as the sun broke its shimmering golden rays over the snowy atmosphere. Tomorrow's event would be in the mountains, but for today only, the younger students would take on the magically enhanced version of a Muggle sport known as curling: an attempt to hit a target in front of them by Summoning faraway stones and letting go of the spell at just the precise moment. If they were accurate in their aiming and in their timing, the stones would slide perfectly onto the centre of the target and win them the coveted 50-point mark; if they were not so accurate, they might be lucky enough to win 40, 30, 20, or 10 points if they managed to scrape various parts of the target... or none, if they did not at all touch it.
This event is part of the 2026 International Magical Olympic Games. February 19th, 2026 Lake Bear (frozen), Russian Federation
The judges did not sit on the dais this time, but instead were down on the ice, scrupulously inspecting the final location of each curling stone and marking down the awarded amount of points on their sheet. The first judge was, of course, the Games' host @Aulis Vorozheykin; he was joined by @Solomon Lear from Hogwarts, @Alan Dolus of Ilvermorny, and finally Mahoutokouro's new @Kotoka Sako. These scrutinizing Heads of various international schools would ensure that no cheating, nudging, unsportsmanlike conduct, or untoward actions would occur!
The second- through fourth-year students huddled in a group on the other side of the lake, ready to be called forward one by one in a randomised order (to promote fairness). Closer to the judges, a giant target had been painted on the ice by the skillful magic of the four Heads, consisting of a total of five rings: the outermost blue ring that would score 10 points, the second-outermost red ring that was worth 20, the middle blue ring that was worth 30, the second-innermost red ring that was worth 40, and finally the tiny white circle in the centre that was worth 50 whole points. Students would try to slide curling stones across the ice towards them using the Summoning Charm, hoping for their stone to land perfectly in the white 50 and for every opponent's stone to sail past theirs without so much as a touch.
Who will be victorious among these lower years? Let's wait and see together...
HOW TO PLAY
There will be only one round and you should post 200+ words in this round. Please make sure you include your character's WIS, EVA, and ACC stats in your post.
A reminder that first-years cannot participate in this event.
Your Action will automatically be "casting Accio" two times; it is implied that you are aiming for the centre of the circle and the 50 points. It does not matter when you post in the thread as long as you make it in before the deadline; Tatsu will determine the order of the participants, and each participant will go two times (so it is possible that one person could have the first go AND the last go, if Tatsu decides to be particularly evil).
Each participant will have 2, possibly 3 rolls for each of their two turns. The first roll is a standard WIS roll to beat the WDC of 9 (for 2-4th years) and 12 (for 5-7th years). The second roll is a standard ACC roll. If the ACC roll is 20+, you receive 50 points; 17-19 receives 40; 14-16 receives 30; 11-13 receives 20; and 8-10 receives 10. If you roll a 7 or lower, you receive no points.
The third possible roll is that if your stone is in a "scoring range" and another user's stone enters that "scoring range", you will roll a standard EVA check to see if the other stone misses your stone. If your stone's EVA check is higher than the other stone's ACC check, it stays in its current "scoring range" and the two stones do not touch; however, if your stone's EVA check is lower than the other stone's ACC check, the other stone bumps your stone down to the next lowest "scoring range". All stones will have the stats of their players.
This does give an advantage to players who go later, but that is why Tatsu will determine the order and you can post at any time without worrying about trying to be the last to post.
Whoever has the most points between their 2 stones at the end of the round is crowned the champion. In case of a tie, the user with the highest total of their WIS and ACC rolls when added together takes home the win.
This event is moderated and it was required to sign up for it ahead of time. Please do NOT post here if your character is not signed up.
Please do not godmod Aulis or any of the other judges.

Summoner's Curling Years 2-4
Harvey had awoken before the sun and started to get dressed in the dark as he thought of the day ahead of him. What came as a surprise to the boy was that his nerves were rather calm. Even back at Hogwarts he had to talk himself down on the mornings before big exams or if he had a project due. Harvey would always perform under pressure, but getting there usually took more effort.
When he opened his trunk he would make sure to layer properly. The cloak he had received upon his arrival from the director of Koldovstoretz was draped nearby and he thought it would be appropriate to show up wearing it. That did not stop him from proudly displaying an emerald green shearling hat with a serpent emblazoned just above the bill. While Harvey wasn't the type to boast, that didn't mean that he wasn't proud of who he was and where he came from. Slytherin through and through.
As he exited his yurt the sun would just begin to peak above the horizon. The snow and ice looked particularly dazzling in the early morning hour and Harvey let that further calm him as he made his way towards the shore of Bear Lake. While he waited for the event to begin the boy drew his wand and practiced the movement of the spell he would need. Harvey was always sure of his arcane skill and casting the summoning charm shouldn't be any problem for him. He had done it hundreds of times during practice, but he knew that casting under pressure was a white different game.
The other competitors would either have been there already or had joined him shortly after his arrival. Harvey would offer them all a courteous nod and engage in small talk if anyone was feeling chatty, but when the judges started to make their final inspections he would fall silent. He did his best to keep his breathing regular and counted up and down from one to ten as he kept his mind focused and free of intrusive thoughts. When the judges finally called his name, Harvey would approach, await his mark and then cast!

Summoner's Curling Years 2-4

Date : February 19th, 2026 Color code : Written | Thought | Said Sere stepped out of her yurt onto Lake Bear this early morning wearing her winter cloak and maroon scarf. While she usually just tied her hair up or let it down, today she styled it in French braid. Why? Because she woke up too early (she barely slept, actually).
This was Sere's first time competing outside of Hogwarts, and she was quite nervous. When she decided to compete in Summoner's Curling, her main consideration was that she wasn't particularly good at physical sports. All she had done for the past three years was train her magic in duels, so this event was a perfect fit for her.
The girl stood on the frozen Lake Bear. From her position, she could see the other competitors who had arrived earlier. Sere returned his courteous nod with a smile and a greeting, "Good morning. It's nice to meet you." Another thing she could see was the judges: the Director of Koldovstoretz, along with Hogwarts's Headmaster Solomon Lear, and two other heads of the international schools. All of them were watching closely from near the final location of the curling stones, with score sheets in their hands. Great. Another thing that made her even more nervous.
Taking her wand from behind her cloak together with a deep breath, Sere aimed at the white-colored center of the circle. She pointed her wand at the stone and cast the spell, "Accio!"WC : 235/200

THE GAME
A note to all players: The game is over! If you believe a mistake has been made in the calculations of this round, please reach out to me, Aulis Vorozheykin, ASAP so it can be addressed promptly. Rolls can be found in the roll-channel chat on the Discord. If you do not have Discord and wish to see the rolls, please owl me.
A randomised and oddly fair order was developed between the two competitors: Harvey would go first, then Sere, then Harvey again, then Sere again. Where was the fun in that? The Order
Harvey's first stone sailed directly into the 20-point range. Who needed the 50 when 20 was right there for the taking? However, Sere seemed to have the same idea and her first stone also went for the 20-point area, bumping Harvey's down to the 10-point range with a clean hit.The Defence
Harvey, fueled by fire, had an even better second shot and landed in the 30, whereas Sere decided to stick with what she knew and ended up again in the 20 with her second stone, causing the two players to end the game at a 40-40 tie.
The judges descended upon the ice, muttering and measuring, and finally decided that overall Harvey's spellcasting and aim had been more impressive, if only slightly. He would take home the win barely over his competitor!
Harvey Barrows takes the gold, though he'd have to wait until the official medal ceremony at the weekend to officially claim his prize. Well done to all who played!
Final Score
@Harvey Barrows 40 but won the tiebreak (total rolls 69),
