Summer Camp 2025  Carnival Games  Open
Image
Aug 28th
London Quidditch Stadium
Today was a beautiful hot and sunny day and Damien with the help from a few others had just finished setting up the carnival for this summer camp and he was extremely excited for it. He has put alot of work into it with setting up the booths and coming up with the different games with the help from others of course as none of this would had been possible by himself. Plus he had never been inside London Quidditch stadium before but he thought it was pretty cool they got to set it up inside the stadiums even if it was only for one day. He listens to the wonderful sound of circus music play in the background as it was a carnival after all so it had to match the vibe as well as little decoration around the place to give it a more carnival feel. They had been planning this carnival for awhile but he was excited that it was finally August the thirteenth the day the carnival would open so he knew he had to make sure every was ready.

The students visiting the carnival today would be able to try their hands at the following games available today:

Discombobuladder
Reducio
A ladder game where you have to climb up the latter and hit the red button. But there’s a catch: The booth is designed to mimic Hogwarts and the ladders move around the booth like the moving stairs inside the castle.
Bucking Basilisk
Reducio
One of the highlights of the carnival, it’s very similar to the mechanical bulls muggles enjoy to ride on to see who can last the longest before being flung off - but as an epic replacement for the bull, it’s a basilisk! The booth was designed like the Slytherin dungeons with a statue of Salazar Slytherin.
Whack-A-Gnome
Reducio
Just like the muggle game Whack-A-Mole the goal is to try and whack as many creatures as you can but replacing the mole are Gnomes.
Potion Plop Panic
Reducio
Students use a cauldron must catch as many potions as they can without letting any fall onto the ground and shatter! (The "potions" are harmless liquids in bright colours.)
Troll Hammer
Reducio
Students take a hammer and hit it onto a platform with as much force as they can muster. Their goal is to get the puck as high as they can, if they can manage to hit the bell that’s designed as a troll they get the most points.
Godric's Might
Reducio
Like the famous story of King Arthur and the sword in the stone, students must try and pull a replica of Godric Gryffindor sword out of an anvil. The booth was designed in Gryffindor's iconic red and gold color scheme.
Streeler Stealer
Reducio
A magical twist on the typical shell swap game with five Streeler shells hiding different ticket amounts. After being shown the shell with the highest ticket number, students watch the operator's gloved hands shuffle the shells and guess which of them hides the most tickets! (Someone said the shells are fake and the Dragonhide gloves just for effect, but what do they know?)
Chalice Choice
Reducio
Each person must choose one of ten identical replicas of Helga Hufflepuff's cup and shall drink out of it to reveal the number of tickets written at the bottom of the cup. Choose wisely or they may get no tickets at all! The booth was designed in Hufflepuff's black and yellow color scheme.
Goldfish Scoop
Reducio
Reminiscent of the traditional Japanese festival game, students use a paper scoop to catch fake goldfish from a basin! But here's a twist: Channelling magic into the scoop will attract the little fishies, and allow you to score a higher number of tickets!
Arcane Plane
Reducio
Students fold a paper airplane from magic absorbing vellum! The more of their arcane energy is absorbed by the plane, the further it will fly when they toss it.
Diadem Toss
Reducio
Based on the popular muggle game Ring Toss, the idea is to toss rings that look like Ravenclaw Diadem onto a sculpture of Rowena Ravenclaw. The booth was painted with constellations that glimmer like stars.
Snitch Snatch
Reducio
Students enter a closed room and try to catch as many Snitches as they can in the amount of time they had. More Snitches means more tickets! The booth was designed to resemble the Quidditch pitch.
This event offers PRIZE TICKETS.
For more general information on the Prize Ticket system, see Ticket Exchange.

Summer Camp 2025  Carnival Games  Open
Image
Every day anew and with no degree of modesty, Dee observed that, completely objectively, this was the best summer camp ever - and, obviously, this had everything to do with who had planned it. It had been a very busy three weeks of fairs and races and games, with Dee making very liberal use of her new mastery of apparition to pop up wherever she was, or wasn't, needed. The camp was slowly nearing its end, now, and Dee had been using most of her considerable capability for being in denial to ignore this fact. That she'd be going back to school soon, for her final year at Hogwarts, which would involve an unsustainable amount of studying for her N.E.W.T.s. That Madhup would be going back to Durmstrang, and they wouldn't see each other for months, after spending most of the summer break together. (While Dee was fairly certain she could apparate back to Gothenburg, not that she'd tried yet, Durmstrang was definitely too far for her current skill.) That other people would be there, whether she wanted them to be or not. There was an uncomfortable ache in her chest whenever she considered the prospect, so she did her best not to.

Today's event was one she'd personally been looking forward to a lot; mainly because the idea of beating her boyfriend (and anyone else who was around) at as many of these games as possible tickled her to no end. Said boyfriend was currently getting tugged into the stadium by his hand, and was treated to an excited grin when they finally reached the game booths. While she had been involved in the planning for this event, she had to recognise that Damien had done a good job in supporting the carnival crew with setting up their stalls.

Dragging Madhup to an abrupt halt, Dee squinted against the sun to get the lay of the land. Observe where the lines were the shortest, which game they should do now and which might be smarter to get later, building a mental strategy and their most efficient route for the stalls. The absentminded "What do you want to play first?" she aimed at Mad was mostly a pretense, and she barely waited for an answer before she set their course for the Snitch Snatch booth.

When they had reached the Quidditch-themed stall with its blessedly short queue, Dee spun around to meet Madhup's green eyes with a serious expression on her face that held all of two seconds before it morphed into an impish grin. "Observe and learn," she announced cheerfully, before she bounced up on the balls of her feet to kiss his cheek before skipping off. "I'll have a go!" she called to the wix running this particular stall, and pushed the sleeves of the bright red jumper she'd borrowed from @Amina Petrovic up to her elbows.

Summer was already almost over, and in just a few days Aly and her friends would be returning to Hogwarts (or their respective schools) as seventh-year students. Kings and queens of the academy, perhaps, but also a bittersweet year full of finals (some literal, some educational), and one to which Aly was both looking forward and also dreading. Some good old-fashioned fun and silliness was most definitely in order, then, before everything went sideways and they had to start thinking about (shudder) graduation and their adult lives.

One last year to make it all go right - why not start it off with games of chance?

Aly trailed behind her best mate and said best mate's boyfriend as they wandered from stall to stall, not quite with them, but also not quite by herself either. She'd spent so many hours recently in the company of not just Dee and Madhup but also all of the rest of their tentmates, and a bit of faux-solitude seemed like a good idea. Nothing special, nothing loud or fancy, just... Aly and the games.

Her gaze swept over each of the booths, but in the end she was drawn to the Streeler Stealer game, which seemed to involve keeping a very close eye on a particular shell as it was manhandled about by a carny wearing dragonhide gloves. Aly's eyes were known to be particularly keen, so she had much doubt that she would fail at this game spectacularly. Letting Dee and Madhup wander off on their own - not that they had been paying her all that much attention, as these were the last few days Dee would have with her boyfriend before they once more shipped off to different institutes of learning, and Aly was loath to deny her that - Aly sidled up to the streeler game and eyed the shells. "Are those real?" she tentatively asked the carny as the shuffling began, not willing to take her gaze off the shells to confirm or deny based on their facial expressions...

"Honeymoon phase"? Never heard of her. Madhup still followed Dee around with the same lovestruck look he'd worn when they met a year prior, dragging his feet just enough to not be obvious about it. He slowed them down both to be a nuisance and to stretch out every remaining second of summer. His smirk was one of warm fulfillment while he watched her pull him along, admiring her excitement, stewing in the anticipation that built between them. Zeal for competition was the trait they shared most. It was why Mad stalled even more when Dee offered him first pick of the games: he didn't want to choose something he'd have an obvious advantage at. It wouldn't be sporting. Deferring in a way that hid his politeness, Mad shrugged and gave the standard lame boyfriend response. "Don't know. What do you want to do?" It was a blatant lie coming from someone who always knew what he wanted, though he didn't imagine there'd be a wrong answer. Those fateful words landed him in front of the Snitch Snatch booth. There was a reason he'd gone for Chaser and not Seeker- those annoying little things were fast and he was always afraid of the wing mechanisms getting tangled in his hair- but he kept his cool confidence on display. Inwardly, he decided on steering them towards the rad looking game with the sword once this was done and over with.

The instant Dee wheeled around with that look on her face, Mad mirrored her with a focused squint, acting as if he was about to take notes for the first time in his life. He sounded very impressed and not at all sarcastic as he enthused: "Ohhh, my girlfriend the Seeker! Okay then, Ravenclaw girl. Teach me something." A kiss to the cheek squashed the tease, leaving Mad watching with stars in his eyes while Dee bounded off. He crossed his arms while waiting for his turn, only to frown and glance around for Aly. Hadn't she been right by them...? Of Dee's friends, she seemed the closest, and (aside from Pericles who he seemed to delight in annoying) Mad had wanted to make a good impression on her especially. The distraction was short-lived. He remembered her habit of slipping away from the Gala, so chalked it up to Aly being a bit of a butterfly, fluttering from one thing to the next as it suited her.

Another year, another summer spent in the London Quidditch Stadium, soaking in the blazing sun and taking part of whatever shenanigans were established for the student body.

To be honest, he didn’t get a proper chance to experience everything the year prior. Perhaps it was due to being so overwhelmed—with all the moving, all the magic, all the new faces. It was such a change from the everyday life he used to lead, but that was then, and this was now.

In the now, Aodhan might as well have been a magic pro. A wondrous wizarding prodigy. Almost nothing surprised him anymore (a lie), and with this newfound experience under his belt, he made it a mission to enjoy what the summer camp had to offer. Unlike before, he wouldn’t miss out and stand around, dumbstruck by the existence of snow in summer.

With his mind made up, of course he also made sure to participate in the carnival games. He was by himself for the time being, but that was just fine. He was more used to his own company than people would assume, and learned how to have fun no matter what as a consequence.

As he walked, his eyes eventually caught onto something. It wasn’t the most extravagant booth, probably easily passed over if one wasn’t careful, but Aodhan’s curiosity was piqued anyhow. He made his way over to it, something called… the “Streeler Stealer?” What the hell was a “streeler?” The boy scratched his head as he watched someone else prepare to join in the game, vaguely familiar in appearance, but not enough for him to call it out.

His gaze shifted back onto what looked like colorful snail shells, contemplating for mere seconds before there was a shift in his demeanor. Yup, his decision was finalized.

“Screw it, let me play!” he exclaimed with determination coming off him in waves, and somehow, he stared even more intently at the shells than before.

The summer camp had been more fun than he'd expected so far. It gave him a chance to hang out and get to know some of the other kids he'd be going to school with soon, and he'd even gotten a chance to watch some actual dueling for once. The only part of the whole summer camp thing Malcolm wasn't really vibing with was the whole summer part of the equation. The heat wasn't exactly his friend, and sun was definitely starting to get so out of hand that he'd started considering signing himself up for the Azkasplash booth to try and escape it. Granted, when you took his utter inability to tread water into consideration... that might not be the best idea. Probably. Still, he hoped he'd find some way to beat the heat while participating in the carnival games.

He navigated his way through the throngs of fellow students as best he could without rolling over anybody's toes when his eyes landed on the black and yellow booth with a series of cups. If nothing else, something cool to drink right now would be appreciated, so he made his way over to the booth, appraising the various cups on offer before choosing one of them - sure, it wasn't based on much more than a gut feeling that this particular cup was a good one to choose, but his impulsiveness led him to making the right choice sometimes. Maybe this would be one of those times.

Carnival games! Pyce loved carnival games. While most of their experience with them had been muggle carnivals, it was clear that many of these booths held games similar to the ones Pyce knew. They weren't exactly the most skilled when it came to any game in particular, but they could certainly try!

They had originally planned to spend the day playing games with Stella, but she had suggested a rivalry today. Rotanskis versus Drakes. Most tickets wins. Which was so unfair! Stella had two older sisters, and Pyce had Hecate! Hecate of all people! They were going to lose this horribly.

"Look! It's a- Um." Hecate pointed to a dungeon-looking booth with a basilisk inside. The sign said Bucking Basilisk. "It's a mechanical basilisk! There we go. Yes. A mechanical basilisk."

"I'm not doing that." Pyce said, shifting their stance subtly, preparing for when Hecate would inevitably try to drag them over.

"Suit yourself!" Hecate shouted back as he dashed for the booth. Pyce took a few steps closer, if only to keep an eye on their twin.

Hecate took to the game- ride? Like a fish to water! Pyce ended up directly next to the booth, watching as the basilisk shook this way and that. Hecate managed to stay on the entire time. He hopped off and confidently walked over to Pyce. Seeing the tickets he earned, Pyce started to have some hope for this competition after all.

"See! Easy peasy. Now, you try!" Hecate pushed Pyce closer to the booth. They allowed it. After all, it couldn't be that hard if Hecate could do it, right?

Stella had been waiting for this day since the beginning of camp. The carnival games! She had never really been to many carnivals, but she loved the games! They were her favorite part of the carnival whenever she did go.

Before she left the tent this morning to grab her sisters, she had happily informed her best friend that they were going to have a competition. Stella and her sisters versus Pyce and their brother. It was rigged, Stella knew. Ren was an ace at carnival games! And Lilah, even if she wasn't as good as Ren, was still talented in her own right. Stella- Stella was strong. At least, she thought so. But they were absolutely going to beat Pyce and Hecate, no problem!

Lilah had made a list of all the games, having scoped out the booths before joining Stella and Ren. The three of them went over it, all squished together in Ren's bed, eating a breakfast of popcorn and cotton candy. Ren was going after the Diadem Toss first. Lilah was tackling the Goldfish Scoop. And Stella was going to try her hand at the Troll Hammer.

With their tasks set, the three sisters went on their way. Stella was probably going to be on her own for a longer time than anyone had allowed all camp. Still within eyesight of Ren or Lilah. (Or Pyce, as she saw their violently orange hair through the crowds a couple of times.)

Stella made her way to her first booth, a wide smile on her face. There was no way she could possibly lose!

By the amazing Jan Dehoff
Summer Camp had been fun for Ruth. She had gotten a chance to get a couple of souvenirs to take home, met new people from various schools, actually gotten the chance to breathe. The sweltering sun beat down on her face and Ruth wished she had brought along a hat, sunglasses, anything to shield her from the beaming rays of sunlight. Maybe she could ask @Mamori Anezaki where he had gotten his shades. They looked good on him. Would one similar to his fit her, too? Who knew.

Of course, the sweltering heat wasn't enough to hinder her from wandering towards the carnival booths with a spring in her step, a sign of her eagerness to get her hands on the activities provided. Ruth had never really been given the opportunity such as this. Whilst this carnival was far from the one she had attended as a child with a travelling circus, with its gigantic spinning rides and rollercoasters, it still excited the Hufflepuff at the prospect of a 'carnival'. The word tasted like peppermint, complementing its signature shades of red and orange, silk-like tents, and whimsical music. It was chaos and fun. Ruth liked chaos and fun.

Ruth had also always been ambitious. Seizing opportunities, that's what she did. Knowing the time, Ruth doubted her ability to be able to try all the games available to the students attending, but it wouldn't hurt to hope. In a chronological order, Ruth went straight to the closest game she could find, hoping to start her rounds there. This was called the 'Discombobuladder', a silly name that brought a wider smile to her lips. It was not only a creative but also an understandable choice of title; the reason behind its name eventually dawning on Ruth as she watched several students go before her. Ladders that mimicked those of Hogwarts-- what an ingenious idea. It may have been a challenge to those who didn't go to Hogwarts, but for someone like Ruth, a Hufflepuff needing to clamber up the various flights of stairs anywhere, the challenge was what she deemed a walk in the park. Hopefully.

CARNIVAL GAMES
28/08/25
═════════════════════════════════════════════════════════
The London Quidditch Stadium had been transformed into a riotous carnival, the air thick with the scent of popcorn and the jingle of bells from nearby booths. Bright pennants fluttered overhead, and flashing lights caught the sun-drenched afternoon, casting a lurid glow over the sweltering crowd. The heat was blistering, pressing down on Rafael’s stiff-backed form as sweat prickled at his temples. It was unbearable. The carnival was raucous, gaudy.

Yet here he was. Under the sultry heat, Rafael headed towards the bustling crowd of campers flitting around stalls, teeth gritting as he forced himself to bear the blaring music and starch, garish colours. He simply had to get out of the tent he shared. Perhaps he should go back. Its stiffling luxury was not as oppressive as his riotous surrounding. Rafael was almost content to reconsider, but then decided against it.

Near the edge of the crowd, the Streeler Stealer booth caught the young Kraus' eyes. Five smooth, dragonhide-covered shells sat arrayed on a polished table, the operator’s gloved hands moving deftly as they shuffled the shells in an almost hypnotic dance. It was a simple but deceptive game; guessing which shell concealed the highest ticket count. Rafael stepped next to a boy who donned on a fluorescent-like jacket and watched, eyes sharp, noting the smooth sleight of hand that almost fooled even him. The subtle demand for keen observation sparked a flicker of interest.

"Screw it, let me play!" Rafael jolted out of his skin as the boy next to him exclaimed suddenly, earning a distasteful frown upon the Kraus' lips. It was then did Rafael take in the astir surrounding the booth, thick with students, laughter and chatter swelling around. Rafael declined to join the throng, storing the game away for later. He preferred to watch now, plan his approach, and return when the crowd thinned. Perhaps when the boy before him left.

The light crunching of gravel followed him as Rafael continued to take in the rest of the stalls available, his eyes landing upon the decor of the Potion Plop Panic as he approached the booth. Bright, neon liquids shimmered temptingly inside glass vials, held precariously over bubbling cauldrons. The challenge seemed overtly simple: catch as many potions as possible without letting a single drop fall and shatter on the ground. Rafael noted the foreshadowed, viscous splatter that could occur upon failure. He despised the thought of a single drop of the liquid splash onto his self. He flexed his fingers slowly, palms cool despite the humid, sweltering heat that clung to the stadium. When he stepped forward, muscles tense, his fingers hovered cautiously over the cauldrons made slippery by the sweat. Though outwardly composed, the oppressive heat and threat of mess gnawed at his usual composure, stirring a rare irritability beneath his controlled exterior. Why was he doing this to himself? Vater Father?

No. It just didn't hurt to be a little competitive.
