'Bubba just used her name a few seconds ago, dear.' Mathias reminded her, causing a blush of embarrassment to cross her features.

"Yeah, I know that..." She had gotten distracted by her fear of Gideon's eventual arrival, "B-But you said it so casually I thought maybe you... Knew her."

'Please forgive any oversight, Winnie is recovering from a recent injury and her memory is not what it used to be.'

She paused, her smile frozen. She felt the cracks splinter internally as Mathias announced her mental fragility, as if stabbing her with pushpins so everyone at the table could take a closer look. Her eyes shifted over to him, brows furrowed.

She dropped Mathias' hand. How could he? Her internal dialogue coiled inside of her, hissing angrily like a snake. How could he so effortlessly remind her that she was broken?

No, no... It was okay. She had used her own memory loss to her advantage just hours earlier, so what did it matter? Was it really that different? Was it necessary? To show how weak you are?

She swallowed the lump in her throat, suddenly realizing how silent she had been. She had to say something before it became obvious she was upset. They'll see the cracks. Hide them, hide them.

"Don't mind me," Winnie said, forcing a soft giggle past her lips, as if the claim wasn't that serious, "I get a bit scatter brained at times, I'm afraid."

'You have such a keen eye.' Their tablemate was speaking to her, so she refocused and plastered a smile on her lips as she listened to her, "Thank you, I grew up on a farm so I'm pretty good at recognizing flowers." Her eyes flickered upwards to take a closer look at the lively hat, "How did you manage to preserve the flowers for this long?"

When Siobhan started to clear her throat, Winnie furrowed her brows and tried to pat her back as if she were choking, "Hey... What's wrong? Do you need water?" Winnie asked the younger girl, her eyes flickering over to the tea she had been drinking. Could it be...? No, he wasn't even here yet, how would he have already poisoned the tea? Her head whipped around to stare over at Bubba. He was drinking it too but seemed like he was okay. She was just being paranoid.

Until a redhead girl slammed her epi-pen down onto the table, if Winnie still had her memories she would have recognized her as the girl who had helped her heal Avis. "Wait... What are you allergic to?" Her head whipped around to try and find the girl and further question her when she caught a glimpse of golden hair.

Gideon. He was here, and he was with... Taylor? She blinked in surprise at the familiar face, feeling a bit dizzy in her confusion until she remembered the girl's last name. She had wondered about her earlier in the day, but seeing her here with the monster...

Her visit was calculated. She was sent by him. Shit. The two of them were working together. She should have known the Russian was far too charming, and friendly... and eager to pawn her off to Percival.

She wanted to sink in her chair, slide under the table and hide away. No, don't hide. What if Taylor saw her? What if she wanted to sit next to her? She quickly averted her gaze, her heart hammering against her chest. You don't remember Gideon, she reminded herself, her shoulders easing up as she forced herself to slip back into her lies, Taylor is just a sweet girl who visited you in the hospital.

Roleplaying as Maria Constança Leung de Almeida from Mahoutokoro - Link to Encyclopedia
((OOC: I’ve lost the farm on the order of the conversation…so I’m just addressing things in the player order…I apologize. It gets wonky. Feel free to just correct it but I don’t mean anything by it other than trying to organize a post. Owl me if something is egregiously out of place!))
Maria, preparing for a stand-off, foreigners could be quite boorish - ironic given her nature, but she was pleasantly surprised that, after a rocky start, the conversation found its proper cadence. Aamon took the rebuke like a champ and offered a cheeky drawing of a stick figure. Maria found this genuinely charming, and stifled a giggle. The tension felt previously felt evaporated. Tall British boys can be funny too. “It is better than I can do!” She offered by way of praise and a bit apologetic for her previous harshness. Linda also offered some encouragement as well.

The girl also complimented Maria’s kimono and asked if she was Japanese. Normally, the proud Chinese would take offense to this, but she yearned for this conversation to stay away from any more confrontation so she just let it go. She was after all both asian and wearing a traditional Japanese dress. This was quite a fair assumption. She figured it would be too much to circle back to name dropping China again and said, “You would look beautiful in a kimono! I have many, maybe you can try some on later! I do attend the Japanese school Mahoutokoro so you are correct!” She stopped short of saying she was Japanese. A girl can only try.

The silent Harvey, the one that whispered something to Aamon spoke up at last after it seemed he was satisfied with his assessments. She wasn’t sure if she was finding she had some systemic racism toward goblins or that his politeness seemed fake and well-rehearsed. She didn’t quite like his tone when he bowed but again, Maria wasn’t about to cause any trouble over it. She was just glad Linda seemed to distract him.

The thought of having another girl at the table, was a great reminder that she could relax and not feel so threatened. Luckily, everyone else seemed to pick up on the fact that Linda had the ability to put at ease tensions and the conversation turned to travel. “Harvey, you are right,” she offered, trying to smooth over this final wrinkle. “It is a great opportunity to meet new people. And I am grateful that I can meet all of you here.” Finally something genuine that didn’t force her to hold back her own instincts. Whether it was taken that way after her prickly reception that wasn’t for her to decide. She threw out the old tea leaves in the pot and freshen the table with newly steeped tea. French tea…maybe wasn’t as bad as she initially thought.

Roleplaying as Hans Jenssen
Hans was fairly sure Astrid was the only person in the whole damn world who could make him shut up (and Nik could die trying).

Managing a quick word of gratitude as his compliment was returned he would have given his own comment on the colour of his suit. How, he didn’t specifically wear it because the atmosphere called for it — where would he ever get enough fashion sense for that? — but because he had an overabundance of clothing and he happened to have been told he looked good in that colour. Of course, Otto was the one who told him that and his flattery was not to be trusted but still, Hans was very much caring about looking good today so he went with it. If Hans knew Astrid thought he looked objectively good in it, God, no regrets, not one shred of them.

Eyes kept solely on the girl sat across the her as Astrid, Hans noticed very little of the buzz around them. Her words quickly drowned out in his mind and he, in the impossibly infatuated state he was in, couldn’t even care about what she was going on on as long as he could keep looking at her. Her voice was like honey, flowing into his ears so smoothly to bring everything else to a stop so he could hear her just a bit clearer. From the way she nodded so vigorously to that little bite she took to the attitude he loved in her tone. To her French food might have been the epitome of flavour; to Hans if she was not the epitome of perfection he didn't know what was.

Taking the excuse to talk with gratefulness Hans repeated the unfamiliar word, “Gustative?” He looked slightly disoriented, just snapped into attention, but still cocked his head with some of that familiar confidence as his voice was undertoned with humour, “How are you expecting me to know that word?” Smiling despite the mock exasperation in his voice he put up a finger (not in a rude way, mind you) as if giving a presentation about an incredibly important subject. Responding to the dramatic hand over Astrid’s heart, “Stollen is definitely not this sweet. The sweeter ones are variations, okay? And… Stollen is for Christmas. That’s different.” Smirking as the girl sipped her tea with judgement straight out of a Bridgeton film he relented, “Food is, of course, the best thing to know about culture. Have a gold star for your expertise.

The bar is low,” he said, with a slight laugh before his voice became more serious, “But got any plans for this excursion?

The Beauxbâtons grounds were truly a spectacle to behold. Adeline tugged at the sleeves of her sweater as a frigid gust of wind swirled around her, awakening her senses and causing her to shiver slightly. The Pyrenees Mountains were cold in February. Adeline gazed across the perfectly manicured gardens of the French campus, awestruck at what lay before her. The symmetry and precision of it all was striking, clean, and even a little sterile. As truly enamored as the young girl was with the spectacle of it all, she would be lying if she said she didn't feel intimidated by the sheer elegance of the view before her.

Cold, fresh air whipped at Addies face, flushing her cheeks as she made strides towards the Chateau. Students from various wizarding schools mingled in the gardens as she walked- couples strolling, new friendships forming, first glances happening left and right; people forming bonds beneath the picturesque statues and heart-laden trees decorating the grounds. The energy was thick, and joyous. A smile pulled at Addie's lips.

As the young Ravenclaw traversed the frigid grounds, a familiar thought found it's way creeping into her mind. As foolish as it felt to call it a crush, that is exactly what Adeline was sick with. She would be thrilled to make new friends, indulge in enriching experiences, whatever this trip entailed, but at the end of the day, the thing that would bring Addie more joy than any of that, would be to run into Hana Bakir. Just like that, her cheeks were suddenly warm for the rest of her journey.

Upon stepping into the Chateau, the aroma of decadent deserts paired with an echo of french perfume flooded the girl's nose, tempting her to the large dining room. Beauxbâtons was regal, and pristine. Inside of the dining room, hundreds of ornate pastries and fragrant teas decorated dozens of table tops; it was impossibly lovely- it hardly looked like food at all. A myriad of intricate ice sculptures decorated the space, a truly charming addition to an already stunning spread. Adeline was enchanted.

The girl took a moment to collect herself, taking a deep breath before taking a seat at an empty table adorned with heart-shaped muffins, Macarons, and chocolate-covered strawberries. Her mouth began to water as she eyed the impressive spread before her. So far, Beauxbâtons was the best.

A Valentine's Day in France... she couldn't imagine anything more romantic. Well, she probably could, if she had someone to spend it with, besides her pygmy puff, Marcus, dutifully at her side. She couldn't imagine leaving him behind for such a big event, plus, she had lofty goals, and she needed some help executing them.

Haven loved all sorts of activities, and tea parties were one of them. Now, she had never attended a French tea party, at Beauxbâtons, no less, but she thought she had a good idea, considering she had plenty of practice from her childhood, making her cat, Merlin, participate, and forcefully dressing up her father in a tiara and teeny tiny plastic princess shoes as the fairy queen, while she'd force her mother to be the evil villain and invade their tea party. Well, she sort of hope that experience wouldn't be as relevant here. She wasn't as up-to-date on her villain-squashing technique. Yeah, she'd been duelling, but that was different. Maybe she could turn them into a chicken or something now.

But, for now, there were no villains, only new interactions. After getting off the carriage and settling in her cabin, Haven had changed into something a little more formal- a yellow dress, ruffly and poofy. She felt very pretty in it. However, she kept her same shoes, prioritizing comfort over style there (though she thought the beads she had added and her duck socks a very stylish choice). Marcus had even agreed to be brushed for the occasion, Haven adding a little yellow bow tie among his purple fluff, so they'd be matching. She thought they looked adorable.

After spending plenty of time on her schoolwork (she wanted to be able to explore Beauxbâtons as much as possible), Haven spent the rest of the carriage ride conjuring up some flowers, plucking and preening them until they were perfect. She had quite the stash by the time the tea party rolled around, putting the whole lot of them in her goose bag and situating Marcus on top so he'd be comfy, and so he could guard the flowers. Ever the ray of sunshine, Haven was planning on giving them out. Surely it'd be a way to make some international friends- or even new Hogwarts ones.

Chocolate-covered strawberries were the first stop on Haven's list, but after that quick detour, she was off handing flowers to any girl she came across, stopping first by a table with two girls and two boys, all younger than her.

"Hi!" she interrupted them, jovially. "I'm Haven, this is Marcus." She gestured at the pygmy puff in her bag before pulling out a flower to give to each of them- a pink peony for Linda and a yellow daisy for Maria. "Have a good Valentine's Day!" And, leaning a bit closer, she whispered to the girls: "And if those boys cause you any trouble, come to me, I'll... turn them into chickens or something! Make them dance!" She laughed and gave a reassuring smile to them, offering a polite nod at the boys before scampering off, more than excited to give out the flowers to the girls.

"Cute sweater!" Haven told Adeline as she handed her a white carnation as they passed each other.

Her next stop was another full table, a few girls clustered around as well. "Hi, I'm Haven, this is Marcus, and-" she started her spiel, before pausing as she looked at the younger of the girls, noticing her eyes watering. "Are you okay? Are you crying? Do I need to hex someone? I wasn't completely totally prepared to do that but I can, if we need!" She looked at Marcus with a look of determination. She wasn't intending on starting an international incident, but if she had to, she would. "Love the dress, by the way," she told Winnie.

𝓢tifling a sigh of relief, Ruth carefully slid her cup of tea and plate of delicacies onto the table, slipping into one of the empty seats available. She desperately wanted to make a grab for one of those delicious looking macaroons already, but talking with her mouth full didn't seem like the greatest first impression to have, especially under the stare of said Nabi Park. Shoving away her craving for now, she turned back to the girl.

She was truly pretty, yet so fascinatingly pale. It was as though she had been partly painted in watercolour, sketched and shaded but not a completely artwork at all. Ruth found herself staring at her grey eyes before shaking herself out of it, deeming it weird to have done that. Nabi didn't look as though she noticed, bearing an expression of distraction and restlessness. It was so subtle Ruth almost didn't catch it.

"Fairchild. Ruth Fairchild," Ruth returned the greeting, then smiled down at the sweets as Campbell threw a tease back at her. It felt good to see him so lively. Deciding to chide back later, she resumed her conversation with Nabi, gesturing sheepishly at her pile, albeit smaller than she wished it was. (Nabi calling her miss lingered in her head. Nobody's really called her that way. How pleasant.) "Oh, these? Don't mind me. I just couldn't resist snagging a bite off some of these." Ruth picked up a fork as she said so, pulling the plate closer to her. "The sight of them just reminds me of home." She didn't continue, having taken a scoop out of the souffle and was taking a bite. Oh wow. It was light and airy, as though an omelet, only fluffier. That said, its puffy top was beginning to deflate as she dug into it bit by bit. She took her time, not particularly eager to jump into conversation. The buzz of conversation around her seemed to shake her alive a little, a wake-up calling that made her feel over consious all of a sudden. Ruth kept her expression neutral, swallowing another mouthful of the cake and keeping her head angled down to avoid the other's gazes. This may have contributed to why she had yet to notice the incredible flush against Matthew's cheeks, though not of emotion but from impact.

Still chewing, Ruth's gaze flickered from one end of the chamber to the other. Kudos to the two she had joined, Ruth's viewpoint of the room was surprisingly advantageous. She could almost see everyone present, even catching the sight of familiar dark, long curls accompanied by that ever-pink hair. Mamori and Aurelia. Waiting to catch the girl's eye, Ruth nodded slightly to indicate she'd come over to join the duo before turning back down to finish consuming the last pieces of the souffle.

That said, once she finally got herself ready to chatter again, especially to get back at Matthew for mentioning the Greenhouse Prank (she had yet to tell Jan about it and didn't want him finding out like this) when she realised the oddity. Frowning, Ruth brought her hands to gesture at her face, indicating where the swelling seemed to make itself known. "Hey...Matt, what...?"

It’s almost as if he was haunting her. Whenever she closed her eyes, she recalled the scene. Whenever she glanced somewhere, he was there. But a singular blink would make the illusion disappear. God, she swore she was going crazy… Why the hell did it have to be him? Kanae wouldn’t wish to transfer his fate to another person. She wasn’t one to complain but he didn’t deserve that kind of death or even to die in the first place. Kazumi was a good student, brother, and son. Did the Gods have something against him? Perhaps in a past life? But why did they have to get him now?

The Suzuki girl floated through the days. The funeral didn’t help

Whenever someone called her name, she’d always expect his name to be called too. “Kanae” and “Kazumi” were too similar. Some days she contemplated changing her name. Well… Perhaps not completely change it. Her actual English name is Julienne. At home, she begged her parents, other siblings, and even the maids to call her “Julienne”. Bless their hearts that they agreed. People from school may be a bit confused since they still call her “Kanae”.

The journey to Beauxbatons went by like a blur. Kanae merely stared blackly at her pale hands on her lap. She dragged her suitcase/ trolley once she stepped onto French soil. ‘Ah, colonialism’, she thought after inhaling the new air around her. She questioned herself a lot during the journey from Japan to Europe, the brunette wanting to stay in her room and probably self-destruct mentally. She didn’t want to continue her trip to France initially but her family talked her into it saying that she needed to live … for Kazumi. Kanae knew Kazumi would hate to see her like this, so she caved.

Now in the Beauxbatons Academy, Kanae tried to find her cabin as soon as possible. She didn’t want people who knew her – from Mahoutokoro or not – to see her like this, nor did she want to talk to anyone at the moment (though uncharacteristically of her). “Why’s this campus so unnavigable?” she mumbled. Her sour attitude about things was rather obvious now. At the corner of her eye, she saw a gathering of people at a distance and something that smelled like… food? As she approached the crowd, she saw the variety of food and people there.

Kanae managed to snatch a few macarons, ignoring whatever other commotion that was going on. The Suzuki girl took a bite of a matcha macaron thinking that maybe it would taste like home. The matcha flavor is bold and authentic, with a lingering aftertaste that is both satisfying and refreshing. The filling is incredibly smooth and creamy, perfectly complementing the subtle bitterness of the matcha. While the macaron itself is incredibly light and airy, with a delicate sweetness that balances the intense matcha flavor. It was the best-tasting macaron she’d ever tasted. God, she loved macarons… but Kazumi did too.

Everything she enjoyed, he enjoyed it too. What gave her the right to live when he was already dead? Why is she still alive when her twin is long gone?

Her happy expression changed slowly, the spark in her eyes fading black as she held onto the other macarons. She hated how the thought of Kazumi ruined her day now, she used to be so happy. Grabbing her trolley, she looked back at the blissful crowd. Maybe someday she could enjoy something like that guilt-free.

Aamon was sadly accustomed to people being a bit short. People being overly polite. People being just too darn fancy. He looked down, forlorn at his cup. Why couldn't anything be simple, normal even. He pushed away the frown that threatened to overtake his face. The girls seemed to be getting along, chatting about this and that. The girl in the unusual dress even announced she was from Mahoutokoro, the Japanese school his brothers were briefly sent to after his eldest brother passed away.

That school specifically made him anxious, their former headmistress was not a kind woman. He remembered seeing Sato Yura in the company of the American Headmaster, thick as thieves Gideon would chide. Aamo wondered how much of what was said was a lie and how much was the truth considering the fact that the tragedy of Hogsmeade ended in numerous fatalities and a pair of missing persons cases - the two of them were oddly the only ones missing.

He knew that their tolerance was a facade, but that was far from uncommon among purebloods that wished to appear progressive in this modern era. He did not say anything, they had a new headmistress and the academy was likely better for it.

He would notice Gideon enter with Taylor. Taylor was around his age, but they were not particularly close. She unsettled him in ways he could not wholly define with words. The fact that Giddy gravitated towards her only made it seem worse. They seemed happy, this was one of the few times he ever saw Gideon with a smile that truly met his eyes. It seemed wrong to him somehow.

He waved off his thoughts and turned to Harvey. "Are you always this," his eyes flickered towards his likely perfectly button shirt and immaculate tie. "This, packaged?" No, that was not the word. Harvey did not win the lottery in terms of genetics, but few did. Harvey was the civil one among them, the forty-year old man in a room of barely teens. In a lot of ways, Aamon's opposite. He was not as practiced a liar as Harvey, and that was what the part goblin was. He was dressing himself like a pureblood. Holding himself to the decorum and standard of a rigid blue-blooded family. Honestly, he was what Aamon's father wished he would be, a guy with a stick of up ass but able to make it look like a congenital condition.

"Is there anything you are looking forward to here?" He asked the part Goblin directly. Aamon was not even sure if he saw the boy at S.N.O.G., between the poisoning and the adult beverages however, Harvey could have been holding back his hair and he would not recognize him today. "Planning to meet a pretty girl too?" He was forthcoming, not crude. "Or just taking this as a free vacation full of carbs?"

Nabi observed the girl take a seat, giving a curt hum and nod in response to the young Fairchild's introduction. "The sight of them just reminds me of home." Oh a sweet tooth you must be then... She remained quiet as Ruth began to eat the sweets she had on her plate.

Nabi's gaze returned to the rest of the room. People from various schools mingled as they got to know others in attendance. Her index finger played with the handle of her teacup as she began to get lost in thought before taking her final sip of tea. Laughs echoed in the background, Here I thought I had escaped such...dreadful events. The pink decor was beginning to cause a minor headache, looking down at her teacup she noticed it was empty.

With a soft hum, she looked around the table, the young Ruth appeared to have been busy with the sweets, and Matthew was talking to Defhoff. I could leave... Nabi stood up from her chair, straightening herself up as she spoke calmly, her face devoid of emotion as usual. "My apologies... I will be heading off now, this was...", odd, "fun."

Nabi took her teacup and made her way toward the section of teas, looking to make herself another cup in hopes of distracting her mind from the rather peculiar feelings that stirred within her from the moment she set foot in the cabin. She hummed softly in thought as she reached out to take a Madeleine.

The scene of bergamot and honey met with Jan before he even stepped inside. The air beyond the threshold was thick with the perfume of steeped leaves, many sugared pastries, and something softer—something like silk and candlelight that made this tea party much of a calm area despite its crowd.

The Ravenclaw boy, now wearing a navy teal three piece suit for the tea party, was looking left and right, observing the surroundings before tagging along with Ruth. As they both stepped further in, he could see a couple of Hogwarts students familiar surrounding him, especially Nabi, who was apparently there with a brown-haired boy Ruth’s familiar with.

“Greetings, Nabi,” Jan nodded slightly at the ghostly looking figure in return then facing the brown-haired boy as he sat down alongside his badger friend, who was denying a seemingly allegation made by the boy. It confused Jan, but he just shrugged it in his head. “Jan Dehoff, pleasure to meet you,” he smiled at the boy before leaning a bit to reach out for a sugary treat.

“I knew Ruth from the very first day of Hogwarts and as for Nabi.. We first met at the Great Lake.” Jan could recall the moments all too well, about how he and the silly badger girl somewhat bonded over that stupid frog-looking chocolate, and the incident where Nabi Park scared the shit out of him and made him drop his uncle’s camera. Until this day, he’s still waiting for her to fix the camera like she had promised him.

“How about you, how do you meet with these two girls?” he asked Matthew before Nabi, who had been sitting still among the chatter for a while, suddenly announced her farewell. Jan was (once again) confused why the Slytherin asian girl decided to leave once he and Ruth settled down at the table, but that didn’t concern him, or at least, that’s his thought as he bid his “see you later then” to Nabi then paying his attention back to Matthew and Ruth.
