Kavi was 6 years old when he was playing with his younger sister Vitaka. Even at a young age, he was quite the storyteller. Since he doted on his siblings, he always enjoyed giving them performances. Sometimes, his older sisters wouldn’t let him, but Vitaka always would. Kavi was doing his best to do a play for her, using their little wooden toys. But there were just too many characters in his story, and his little hands couldn’t keep up. He was getting a little frustrated at the toys, that they couldn’t simply move on their own and dash around the room like their parents could make them do. But he couldn’t. So he just moved his chubby little hands as fast as he could, trying to make them dash around to match his story. Vitaka didn’t seem to care that they didn’t quite match up, but Kavi’s mind was always a few steps ahead of his body. He just wanted it to be perfect. And it wasn’t.
“The end!” he told Vitaka suddenly, even though his play was far from done. The dragon hadn’t even eaten the princess yet.
However, his story was far from over. He was putting the figures into a bin, about to reach for another, when he noticed something strange- one of the figurines was hovering in the air. Kavi looked around for an adult in the room, but found none. It must have been him! The dragon soared through the air, and Kavi started narrating again. He found joy in his play once more, watching as the figures started swirling, zipping around. But as quickly as it started, the figures toppled to the ground, motionless.

Born 3 January, 2008, in Hospet, India, Kavi Vivek Kattimani was the third born child to two loving, moderately well-off pureblooded parents, Vivek and Kalpana. As a child, he was often found playing with his older sisters Kalyani and Vrika or listening to stories from his Ajji or Ajja. When his younger siblings were born- Vitaka, Khara, and Vidhaan, he’d spend his time with them, telling them stories he’d make up or entertaining them with the sparks his sisters would make. The Kattimani children were always surrounded by magic and family, which became a huge part of their identities and their relationship with each other as they grew up. It became a bond connecting them even as they joined the dorms when starting their education.
The family moved to the village of Omaha Geni when Kavi was five, around the time when the oldest Kattimani child was starting her clan education. When Kavi's own turn came, he quickly settled in with the other new students, becoming fast friends as they explored the different classes together. He took a particular liking to potions- the meticulous creation was like crafting a story. Of course, he didn’t mind Astronomy, either- he had heard all the stories about the stars and what they represented. But his eleventh birthday rolled around, and he was chosen by a dukun- Jason Randle. Seeing as he’d be with him for the next several years, he was a bit worried that perhaps they wouldn’t be a good match. But time soon came to tell that Kavi flourished under the new guidance. Not only was his interest in the arts and creativity fostered, but he was pushed by his dukun to explore other forms of magic- and non-magic, too. He was excited to return every year, until things took a turn at the start of his sixth year.
