Toil and Trouble
Kavi moved quickly, trying to gather everything that he needed. He hadn't originally planned on going at this alone, but Tenūsa had faced some severe casualties during the attack- including the his mates for the championship. After his school had already lost so much, he wasn't going to let them lose this so easily.
He held his breath as the challenges were revealed- retrieve a specific item hidden in a patch of Swooping Evil cocoons. Attention - there might be additional complications. What was that supposed to mean? "Specific item"? "Additional complications?" Because a carriage explosion and mass attack at Hogsmeade (not to mention the full moon) weren't complication enough.
He wracked through his memory, trying to come up with a potion to use, muttering to himself in Kannada so no one would understand. Venomous Tentacula Juice?- he wasn't so fond of the idea of being purple for a few weeks, especially to pay his respects to his schoolmates- and the Vitamix potion had very similar effects. So, Vitamix it would be.
Having lost most of his things to the explosions, Kavi relied heavily on the supplies Hogwarts provided, like the copper cauldron he put over medium heat, letting it heat up as he tracked down a mortar and pestle, adding the standard ingredient and essence of wormwood, working quickly to crush it before adding it to the cauldron.
As he waited for it to heat, he noticed there was a group of spectators gathered- he allowed himself to look for a moment, trying to see if Farron was there- or any of the other faces he had met over the past few days. Shortly, he turned back to his potion, giving it his full attention once more.
He was careful and precise with his knife strokes as he diced the Asphodel Root, making clean, delicate little cubes. Now that the potion was gray, he could add it to the cauldron and wait for it to turn red for the first time.
Another visit to gather supplies- it took him a moment to find the dried Aconite- and the potion was red-y. Ha, ha. Kavi dropped the aconite in bit by bit, carefully examining the color until it was the perfect shade of orange- like Jason's hair, he reminded himself, thinking of his dukun who had taught him the potion. Satisfied, he added a melting rock, watching as the potion shifted colors again.
The colors were one of the things he so enjoyed from the potion, it switched a good few times and was interesting to watch. But even being engrossed in the colors for a moment wasn't enough to distract him from the task at hand, carefully fishing out the melting rock once the potion was turquoise.
Next, he had to wait until the potion turned back to red. A lot of waiting and color-changing went into the potion, but it was nearly finished. Once satisfied with the shade, Kavi added the final ingredient- three measures of Armadillo Bile- before finishing the potion and bottling the dosage. He held it up to the light, inspecting his handiwork. One potion down, one to go.
