The Pajari family is one of the eldest and most prolific Seer lineages in all of Scandinavia, dating back hundreds of years with nary a single child born sans the Sight. (Well, at least all the children they claim as their own have the gift. Those without it... there's a reason they don't use the Pajari name.)

Unelma Pajari, "The Dreamer", hailed from this family; as a child, and like many generations of Pajaris before her, Unelma attended Beauxbatons, where she was taught to control, interpret, and understand her visions, many of which came to her in dreams - hence the nickname. Sought-after as a Seer not only in her native home of Finland but all over the world, Unelma travelled extensively post-graduation for her work; this led her to Russia, specifically a small town in the Saratov oblast, where she met Lavrentiy Vorozheykin.

Lavrentiy was a маглы - a Muggle - and, yet, he clocked her immediately as being different. Perhaps it was the snow-white hair or the tarot card deck that spilled haphazardly from her bag when they bumped into each other; either way, he never minded her peculiarity. That was more than could be said for the Pajaris. When Unelma returned to inform them that she had fallen in love with someone of non-magical descent, and that they would be married in Russia soon, the family laughed in her face. The marriage was illegitimate, they said, and any children borne of it would surely not bear the gift.

The first and only child born to the newlywed couple, Aulis - given a Finnish name, just in case - was Unelma's only hope for returning to the fold, for proving the strength of her blood, and from a very young age, Aulis was told he would have the Sight. Trained to be a Seer - to be the first half-blood Seer in his family in over a century. He would be the little prince, the little heir, a Pajari, despite his surname. As for his light brown hair, Unelma wasn't worried - hers had been the same shade until she turned sixteen.

As a very young child, the boy enjoyed spending time in his mother's divinatory parlor; the tea leaves smelled nice, and the tarot cards made a fun sound when falling to the floor, even if he didn't quite like the way his mother snapped at him to pick them up afterwards. At five, Aulis was spending one such normal evening in the parlor when he noticed a smudge on his mother's crystal ball, way up on the table. The Seeress always liked to keep it pristinely clean, and while the rag used to buff streaks off the glass was situated on the edge of the table, within the kid's reach, the crystal ball itself was too far back. Aulis began to cry, frustrated that he was not able to reach, and when he looked up it had rolled off its pedestal and closer to the edge without him touching it or reaching for it; it was only when Unelma walked in to find her son polishing the crystal ball she had definitely placed out of his reach on purpose that it occurred to her that magic may have occurred.

Of course, his mother walking in startled Aulis, and he dropped the ball - which shattered on the cold stone floor below, a million glistening shards of glass scattering every which way. Unelma was so excited for Aulis's magic manifesting in her divination parlor, though, that she barely gave him a scolding for breaking it. After all, if the boy's first act of magic was related to a crystal ball, surely he would have the gift someday.

A keen-eyed child, Aulis spent his first few years at Koldovstoretz -- before officially partaking in his education, simply as a boarder -- learning how to observe others and not set others' trousers on fire when he grew angry. When he turned eleven in June of 2005 and he was officially assigned to Group 4 that fall to begin his schooling, Aulis put more effort into being observant than ever and began to make friends -- and perhaps a few enemies -- in his age group. He began to make little predictions stemming from his keen observations, many of which would actually come true, leading to the young child gaining a bit of a reputation as a divinatory hopeful -- and making his mother quite proud. This was a habit that would last him not only the rest of his time at school but the rest of his life.

Come second year, Aulis grew determined to move out of Group 4 and studied tirelessly -- one might have even called him a perfectionist -- to learn the history and etymology of spells, which led him to a new goal of joining the school duelling team. It was there that he met Hristofer Nenovsky, a Bulgarian first-year student who was just as intrigued by spellwork as Aulis himself. The two boys became fast friends and were promoted to Group 5 together at the end of the school year.

In Aulis's third year, his first in Group 5 and on the duelling team, he quickly rose to schoolwide stardom with his determined work ethic, excellence in spellcasting, and handsome smile each playing a part. Egotistical to a fault, and perhaps a bit dramatic and prone to monologuing and bowing during critical parts of his duels, Aulis won enough of his bouts against larger and much stronger opponents that it bought him a bit of a reputation, and he ended up challenging an eighth-year Durmstrang student to a duel to prove his prowess. The Durmstrang student in question, an eighth-year by the name of Fabian Fleischer, had a habit of taking down elder members of the Koldovstoretz team (whom Aulis had also managed to beat), and in a fit of unearned confidence Aulis became sure that he could beat Fabian as well. On the day of the actual duel, naturally Fabian took the victory, but Aulis got further than expected; it was only immediately after Aulis's Slug-Vomiting Charm caused Fabian to retch up the fattest slug in existence that Fabian realised the kid he was duelling was actually quite good and took him out immediately with a well-placed Trip Jinx, causing Aulis to faceplant in front of their entire audience of both schools and promptly pass out. Though Aulis was, of course, extraordinarily embarrassed, he was still hailed as a bit of a hero by many of his peers at Koldovstoretz for having been able to incur as much damage as he had; the insult "Slugstrang" became a popular one thrown around the yurts for the rest of the year. Plus, he and Fabian actually became fast friends after the duel - a bond forged in mutual respect, and one that still lasts to this day.

In Aulis's fourth year at Koldovstoretz, having made little semi-false predictions from his keen-eyed observations for three full years began to catch up with him. Some had begun to distrust him, for some reason or another -- perhaps he had correctly observed and thus "predicted" something about them that they hadn't wanted "out there" as common knowledge, or maybe they just didn't like the idea of being in class with a Seer from some old-fashioned anti-wizardry thoughts passed down from their маглы family members. One such person, a young woman by the name of Klara, decided in October of 2008 that she had had quite enough of Aulis's prophecies. Now, Aulis had no way of knowing this, but Klara's mother was a Seer as well, and Klara's father a маглы - exactly like Aulis himself - but where it seemed (incorrectly) that Aulis had inherited his mother's Sight, Klara had not from hers, her father's blood tainting the gene and making it impossible for her to ever become a Seer. From a place of jealousy, she began to spread the rumour that Aulis's prophecies were falsities, made up to gain status and fame amongst the school. It spread like wildfire, as Aulis was already quite well-known not just in his Group but also in the other two and younger years due to his duelling prowess and the (again, incorrect) assumption that he would likely become a full-fledged Seer in the next few years; Klara herself shot to infamy as Aulis's #1 rival, and it was not uncommon for Aulis to be found predicting her downfall, or for Klara to be found spewing her vitriol to various groups of her newfound listeners. Aulis wrote home to his mother for advice, and she advised him to be himself; armed with that wisdom, Aulis realised that he needed to dial up the drama and turn up his allure tenfold. If everyone trusted him, if they were distracted by him, if they loved him, then he would be able to continue his fallacy without so much as a hitch. The smile became megawatt, the body language reciprocatory, the predictions noteworthy when necessary and secretive when not, either shouted at full volume in the midst of the lunch hour or whispered in private when the situation called for it. He became very good at reading the situation, very good at reading the person, in just the right way so as to charm them back to his side. Slowly but surely, it worked. People began to ask Klara how Aulis could possibly be a fraud, as deceitful and distrustful as she claimed, if he was so kind, so cheerful, so funny, so simply endearing to the eye and the ear and the mind all at once? Her audience grew smaller, from forty to twenty, from twenty to five, from five to one, until suddenly she had no one to whom she could preach what was actually the truth at all. Disgraced simply by virtue of Aulis's charming nature, Klara transferred out of Koldovstoretz and has not been heard from by any of her former classmates since.

Aulis's fifth year began with a new, albeit small, friend; his best mate, Hristofer, introduced Aulis to his younger sister Desislava Nenovsky, an [insert description here] creature who was so [insert personality here] that Aulis immediately grew fond of her. Since he considered Hristofer to be like a brother to him, it was only natural that he consider Desislava to be like a sister, and so Koldovstoretz's charming king adopted a first-year princess to his court. However, at the same time as he put on a brilliant smile for the world to see, the king was struggling with his own internal politics.

As Aulis's sixteenth birthday approached at the end of his fifth year, Aulis grew more and more worried that his Sight would show itself in a delayed manner. He had not had any flashes of prophecy yet, something his mother had already had by his age, nor was his hair whitening as hers had. To combat this, Aulis decided to fake it until he made it and took to creating false prophecies -- even more so than he had been before. Now, in order to be believed as a Seer, your prophecies must come true, and fake predictions necessitate fake truths - so Aulis's prophecies were quite small, things that could be satisfied with a well-placed spell. However, the spellcasting would give him away, and thus at the end of his fifth year, Aulis taught himself to cast spells without saying a word. This caused him problems in classes as a member of Group 5, however, and so at the end of the year he made the change to Group 7 so as to further focus on divination... then, as a sixth-year, took it a step further and taught himself how to cast wandlessly. Now, he could simply do magic with a thought: the perfect storm for making his false prophecies come true.

When Aulis's seventh year rolled around and it became clearer to him that he had not inherited his mother's Sight, the teenager was crushed. He had now been pretending to be a Seer for over a year, and if he were to tell everyone now that it had been nothing but a lie, he would be ruined - his reputation destroyed, his family's trashed, his future gone. As such, Aulis started to look into ways to fake being a Seer beyond petty prophecies and silent wandless magic; it was dawning on him that this would be difficult, if not impossible, to pull off, and a lifelong commitment, though one he was willing to undertake if it meant being welcomed into a family that had long since disowned him and his mother. He started off by dyeing his hair a bright white over the summer between his sixth and seventh year, using the Hair Colour-Changing Charm to make it seem natural -- a spell he has done in upkeep every two to four days since, so that his naturally brown roots are never, ever visible. Then he began to study Legilimency in the Koldovstoretz library, and luckily, a visiting Vedmak this year was a Legilimens and caught Aulis reading one of the books from the library after lessons one day. He offered to train Aulis in the ways of Legilimency, at the price that his own mind would be read during the lessons; though hesitant to reveal his secret to another, Aulis tentatively agreed. Of course, the Vedmak did discover, through reading Aulis's mind during their first training session, that Aulis was no Seer at all; however, he agreed to keep it a secret, so long as Aulis swore never to create a prediction that would put others in imminent harm, a promise the now-Director has kept even to this day. Aulis continuously trained with this Vedmak for the remainder of his time at Koldovstoretz until he had mastered the art of legilimency and could be confidently called a Legilimens. To this day, that lone Vedmak is the only person to have discovered Aulis's deception, and he has, thus far, kept it a secret. However, something else happened during Aulis's seventh year -- as he was undergoing this identity crisis, his pseudo-little-sister, Desislava, began to exhibit Seer characteristics of her own. Though she would end up leaving Koldovstoretz as well, and though Aulis was graduating, he could not risk being affiliated with someone who was so new and uncontrollable with the Sight, for Medvedev forbid she somehow find out Aulis's forgery and bring the number of secret-keepers to two. As such, Aulis cut himself off from Desislava entirely -- dropped her like a hot stone and has not spoken to or acknowledged her in the many years since. Though perhaps the wrong choice, Aulis feels safer knowing she is no longer a part of his life, even once he graduated...

JABARI YA NYOTA Former Head of Uagadou Reducio Also originally international duelling rivals from their school days, Aulis and Jabari's relationship has only soured with time, not bettered. Having been fairly evenly matched throughout their youth and into adulthood, they fought for domination in duelling and then in their careers, and Aulis is both jealous and furious that he had to go to such great lengths to gain a Director spot while Jabari's was just handed to him. Now that Jabari is no longer a Head, they never speak. COMPETITIVE HOSTILE	ARTURO REYES Former Head of Tenūsa Reducio Aulis and Arturo met in early 2020, when the handsome travelling conservationist Arturo happened to stop by Koldovstoretz, where Aulis worked as a Vedmak of Divination. It was love at first sight for Aulis, who often complained of Koldovstoretz's lack of attractive men, and though their relationship started out casual, it strengthened over the course of their two years together. (Even if Art did have trust issues.) Ultimately, when Art accepted a position at Tenūsa - a school known for its Divination skill - Aulis grew frightened that his boyfriend would become knowledgeable enough in the divinatory arts to realise that he was a fraud of a Seer, and this led to him dumping Art in the summer of 2022. Whether the love is gone, however, is another question entirely. LOVELORN DISTRUSTING	LAWRENCE MAYNARD Former Head of Tenūsa Reducio Aulis never met his second cousin, with whom he shares a set of great-grandparents on his mother's Seer side, but that does not mean that they are total strangers. Growing up hearing the tales of his mother's estranged cousin's Seer son meant that Aulis has always looked up to Lawrence, tinged with vague jealousy ever since Aulis found out that he missed out on the Seer gene that Lawrence inherited. Finding out that his cousin Lawrence had gotten the Tenūsa head position that his ex had just quit was certainly a shock for Aulis (as was meeting in the Hogwarts kitchens in spring 2025), but he intends to use it as a way to meet the cousin he never knew... and perhaps study him slightly. Desislava came to school in Aulis's fifth year, and Aulis adopted her to his royal court of popularity almost as a younger sister figure and doted on her for the next two years. Unfortunately, in Desi's third year and Aulis's seventh, she had her first prophecy -- marking her as a true Seer. They had a huge fight over the matter as Aulis grew immediately fearful of having a true Seer in his close circle, and the seventh-year cut Desi off, dropping her instantly. They haven't spoken since, in over a decade, though Aulis keeps tabs on her -- just like he does with anyone of whom he is scared. FEARFUL FOREGONE	SARAI TOUSSAINT-FLEISCHER Former Hogwarts Herb. Prof. Reducio Aulis first met Sarai back when she was his best mate Fabian's girlfriend, and quickly grew close to her two sons as well.
