Opening Feast
Koldovstoretz had never hosted students from international schools before, and Director of Studies Aulis Vorozheykin was determined that his beloved academy's first time doing so was to be nothing short of perfect. Visiting Hogwarts, after all, had gained a reputation of being dangerous; Beauxbatons and Tenūsa, not much different. But to visit Koldovstoretz, in all its snowy midwinter glory, was going to live on in tales of magnificence for generations to come. He was sure of it - as sure as he was that Koldovstoretz would take home many of the gold medals that were to be handed out during this most cooperative and yet competitive event.
This event is part of the 2026 International Magical Olympic Games. February 15th, 2026 Lake Bear (frozen), Russian Federation
Aulis had manipulated strongly encouraged several of the older students to assist in setting up a welcome feast and opening ceremonies, including several amenities such as a feast of all of the finest international foods the house-elves and the Baba Yeda could offer as well as a collection of barely-worn ice skates provided by the ever-grumpy Alexievich (only lent after Aulis promised about six million times that they would all be returned in pristine condition). Because of the students' hard work, the shores of the icy Lake Bear had been transformed into a beautiful ceremonial stage complete with an unlit torch in the centre designed to look like a roaring bear from whose mouth the flames would roar; the stage itself was surrounded by tables full of delicacies from each of the visiting schools' native countries as well as some from Russia itself:
ReducioThe lake itself was frozen over, as it often was this time of year. In the winter, students did not need the strug boats to take them to classes on the island in the middle, but rather could simply walk across (so long as they didn't slip). Right now, though, no one was walking to classes; they had been cancelled for the weekend and rearranged for the weekdays, and instead the lake was an undisturbed sheet of glittering blueish ice, simply waiting for visitors to slip on ice skates from the racks by the shore and take a spin around its slippery surface.
- Representing Beauxbatons: Escargot, macarons, miniature soufflés, warm croissants, and various cheeses
- Representing Castelobruxo: Feijoada stew, cheese bread, farofa, grilled meats, and brigadeiro (truffles)
- Representing Durmstrang: Banitsa pastries, shopska salad, moussaka, kebabs, and marudnik (pancakes)
- Representing Hogwarts: Bangers and mash, fish and chips, shepherd's pie, Scotch eggs, and treacle tart
- Representing Ilvermorny: Hot dogs, macaroni and cheese, biscuits and gravy, crab cakes, and apple pie
- Representing Koldovstoretz: Borscht soup, beef stroganoff, stuffed cabbage rolls, kasha, and medovik cake
- Representing Mahoutokouro: Ramen, tempura vegetables, miso soup, yakitori skewers, and mochi
- Representing Tenūsa: Stir-fried tuatua, grilled shrimp, damper bread, steamed pipis, and lamingtons
- Representing Uagadou: Jollof rice, nyama choma, luwombo stew, posho, and mandazi donuts
When students and professors alike from the visiting schools appeared on the snowy Koldovstoretz grounds, perhaps slightly dizzy from their Portkey journeys, Aulis would be there to greet them with a smile and, if necessary, a warm winter cloak complete with fur so that they would blend in with the Koldovstoretz students for whom this was a part of their uniform. He would point them towards the food and the lake and say, "The ceremony begins soon! Eat, eat! Enjoy our lake, but do not fall!"This event is not moderated unless moderation-necessary events occur (e.g. spellcasting), but in one week from now the torch-lighting ceremony will be posted and, if necessary, any moderation will occur then.
Please reach out to me if you would like to godmod Aulis doing anything other than what is already stated in the post.

Opening Feast
Edward couldn't wait til the Opening Feast began. Not being especially athletic, it was the part of the events he was most looking forward to. Having been fairly sheltered all his life thus far, he couldn't wait to try all the delicacies from all over the world that would be on offering at the Feast! He had made sure to eat very lightly the entire day and a half prior so as to work up an appetite. Not hard do for someone with his growing metabolism, but his stomach was still relatively small so he knew he had to pace himself if he wanted to be able to try everything.
He eagerly stirred his friends to get ready on time so that they wouldn't be late for the Opening: "You know, this is the first time Koldovstoretz has ever hosted any foreign students, we're getting to taste history!" he grinned to the others.
As he arrived, he would smile graciously to the host, taking a warm coat which seemed luxurious to him though his small frame was dwarfed by even the small-sized one he got to fit him. When he arrived to the Feast itself, he would eagerly try a bit of everything, encouraging his friends to do the same; he would even try the Escargot - his mother had pretended to like them, in order to seem more sophisticated, but he knew she didn't. As for him, he didn't care much for the texture but found the experience 'interesting' and enjoyed the buttery flavor despite the thought which admittedly wasn't entirely appetizing, quickly washing it down with some of the interesting beverages on offer as well, before moving on to try something new. He especially enjoyed the local offerings, the beef stroganoff was his favorite and the medovik cake - which reminded him of a cross between tiramisu and baklava - so much that he had to keep himself from eating more to save room for everything else.
After eating his fill and then some - pushing himself to try a little bit of everything - he gave himself a bit of downtime to chat with his friends and maybe meet someone new from one of the other schools who happened to be attending, after all this is one of the only chances he'd have gotten to do so, going out of his comfort zone to take advantage of the limited opportunity.
After that, while he wouldn't take the initiative to do so himself however, he would acquiesce to being led out onto the frozen ice of the lake for some easy, fun, casual ice-skating before retiring to their Yurt towards the end to such a magical day.

Whether Zephyr hide it or not, he couldn't deny how alert he was when they arrived at Koldovstoretz for the opening of the 2026 International Magical Olympic Games. The cold air did help clear the dizziness from the Portkey, but it did nothing to quiet the cautious part of his mind. What had happened last time at Tenūsa was still recent that going into another unfamiliar territory automatically put him on guard. He didn’t expect something to go wrong, but he would never assume things would go smoothly either. He learned the hard way that assuming things proved to be unreliable.
He stayed close to his friends as they made their way toward the Lake Bear. The place and the setup were not something one would just ignore. The frozen lake, first and foremost, was very inviting. Everything looked organized and there were staff members present, students helping, and no visible signs of confusion on where to go and what to do. It gave him reassurance and put him at ease, being this hypervigilant was frustrating. Not every new place was a threat, that's what he was telling himself over and over. He knew that logically, its just taking some time for his body to catch up with that logic.
The director greeted everyone and they were handed cloak, which he accepted gratefully. Better to be prepared for the cold than feel sorry later. This is, after all, Russia. The coat was warm to the skin, it's the first thing he noticed as he put it on over his own coat. Being one of many students in similar clothing made him feel like he truly belonged in that moment. Arriving at the feast tables, he followed Edward whose excitement was visible. The variety of food was impressive and knowing about the existence of international schools before didn't just give you these many options to eat. Seeing dishes from so many places in one spot just made the moment more significant. Students from different schools were all gathered together without any conflict and it helped settled some of his initial anxiety.
Hearing they're allowed to eat now, he glanced at his friends with an excited grin, slowly easing into the moment. "Well, let's dig in before every plate is empty. I'm gonna try everything here, it's not every day you're given an opportunity to see this many dishes in one place." He told them as he started taking small portions of each dish in his plate. "You should have seen the dishes in Tenūsa too, man, that was one other whole level of amazing. Even the performances there." Before the disaster hit them, that is. Escargot required a brief internal debate, but he decided that refusing it out of discomfort would be pointless. The texture was not something he enjoyed, but the taste was fine. He got borscht, beef stroganoff for now, dessert would be saved for later. "Whew, this borscht is warm and filling."

Harumi made her way to lake bear with the rest, the lake was frozen and Harumi was mesmerised by its beauty, well, it is kind of easy to catch Harumi's attention anyway, Harumi liked winter and therfore anything ice related would make her excited.
----Finally focusing on her environment instead of the lake, she looked at her friends, some looked on the edge, Zephyr being one of them, it seemed the visit to Tenūsa, that she missed, didn't leave their minds, Harumi never really asked anyone about what happened, because they looked traumatised, and she didn't want to remind them of it unnecessarily, Harumi didn't know how to help them, she's bad at comforting, and will probably be of no help, so she decided to support quietly.
----She glanced at the unfamiliar faces, there was so many students from around the world, Harumi hoped to make some international friends, it would be awesome to learn about different cultures and countries.
----The director greeted everyone and gave them cloaks, Harumi accepted the cloak thankfully, not necessarily because she was cold, more like an assurance she won't be cold, or just to blend in, who knows, it is always hard to tell why Harumi does some things, there is always a purpose, but most of the times nobody knows it, sometimes even Harumi doesn't know her own reasons until later, well, she has yet to figure herself out.
----Wearing the cloak she was given, so maybe she just wanted to be warm after all, she walked behind Edward and Zephyr, both seeming excited about the feast, she was too, only she was much better at hiding it, for now at least.
----They finally arrived at the feast, originally Harumi didn't plan to eat too much, she wasn't the kind to eat alot in the first place, all thanks to her easily irritated stomach, but well, the food seemed delicious, and everyone was trying a bit of everything, which encouraged her to at least try some dishes from every culture.
----And she did, taking a small portion of most of the dishes, completely avoiding the Escargot, because the idea of eating snails didn't sit right with her in the slightest, she also decided to leave the British dishes because she already ate them alot before, it seemed that ramen and the grilled shrimp were the dishes that she liked best, as well as all the sweets, her sweet tooth took over.
----Her stomach wasn't too happy about all the eating though, but it didn't hurt her for long, which Harumi is thankful for, she wouldn't want to spend the rest of the day in pain after all.

Harvey took in some deep breathes as he adjusted to his surroundings. Travel by portkey was surely convenient, but just as much disorienting as well. Such an odd sensation behind the nose and all those sounds and colors spinning around like some mad kaleidoscope. No wonder some people get motion sickness from it all. Nothing a few steading gulps of air and the cold winds of Russia against his face couldn't solve though. One more long blink and the boy was ready and excited to get on with the day's festivities.
Fretting about the past always seemed like a waste of time to Harvey. You needed to learn your lessons from previous experiences, but just because something goes bad once surely doesn't mean that you should spend all of your time worrying about it happening again...right? Tenūsa had been quite the disaster. A bit traumatic, a bit of a thrill though? Life in the wizarding world was anything but boring and with a life full of magic came some danger too. You can't wield such a power and be surrounded by arcane energies and expect chaos to leave you untouched, could you? Perhaps Harvey was more of a thrill seeker than his uptight exterior led on to. Perhaps he was just a naive youth. Let's crush some hotdogs and find out.
One thing Harvey surely did not regret about the last international wizarding event was the exposure to foreign foods and culture. He had found it all quite fascinating and when his beady little eyes scanned the concession table it would appear that he was in store for yet another day of feasting. Little legs would carry him down the line of offerings, but long fingers would not hold back from sampling all of the delicious wares. Harvey would wind up a little bloated, but with a big smile of content on his face.
After a full belly, the boy did not like to simply just sit around. A nice walk was his normal after dinner routine, but when in Russia, why not trade that out for some leisurely ice skating. Harvey would find the right pair of skates to fit his rather large feet and onto the ice he went. Now, the boy was no Olympic figure skater. He would not be landing and quads or axels or whatever the muggles called those crazy spins, but he could hold his own. He drifted across the ice with ease and waited for the torch lighting ceremony to begin.

Gosh. It was freezing. I hadn’t cared so much about the Portkey as someone other people who I saw had, but I had not expected it to be so cold. Although, now I thought about it, it was only my hands and face that were cold. I looked down and saw the quite ugly, but soft, jumper that my grandma had knitted for me. She must’ve put a spell on it, as it was cold when I was at Beauxbatons, but was now keeping me warm. I had to get her to teach me that spell.
Then, I saw the tables full of food, and followed the other sensible people over towards the food. I took a little bit of a few different items, all that I had never heard of before, and then turned round. With a gasp, I realised that the lake had frozen over. I ate the rest of my food staring at it, barely believing my eyes. Then, as soon as I was finished, I put down my plate, and walked up to the lake. I had never seen so much ice at once.
I walked over to where there was a pile of ice-skates, and lifted up a pair, that looked like they’d be the right size. I sat down to try to put them on. After about five minutes of struggling, I lifted up my head, and said to no-one in particular,
“Please can you help?”
At that exact moment, I realised I was trying to put them on the wrong feet. Awkward.
After finally tying them up, I stood up and walked over to the lake, where I promptly fell over onto the ice.
Again, awkward.
The ice was a lot more solid than I thought it would be, so I took a few moments to recover, before standing up again, taking a step, and falling over again.
I watched the other people on the lake, and realised what I was doing wrong - I was supposed to glide, not step. However, I seemed to be unable to stand up again, so just sat on the ice, hoping no-one tripped over me.

I felt so ill. That “Portkey” thing was the worst magical invention I’d seen yet. However, it seemed like it was only the people from non-magical families who really felt sick. I wanted to go straight to the room I was supposed to be staying in, and go straight to sleep, but I had no idea where they were, and the crowds pushed me away from any teachers that I might’ve been able to ask.
However, it seemed like I was the only person prepared for the cold, wearing the warmest coat I was able to find, while other people had to borrow cloaks.
Eventually, I managed to escape the crowd, and sit down on the ground, in the first empty space I could find. I looked around, and saw that even all the people who looked a bit sick when we first arrived were looking fine now. My head was still spinning.
I looked up at the table nearest to me, which had food from Ilvermorny, which I remembered was the American school. I stood up, and got a slice of the apple pie, before sitting straight back down again. I took a bite out of it, and pulled up my knees so I was sitting in a ball.
I was looking forward to the torch-lighting ceremony, but it seemed like it would be a long time away.
I heard a small crash, and looked round to see that a girl had fallen over on the ice. I watched, hoping she wasn’t hurt, and was glad to see that she managed to stand back up again, but then, she fell again. I couldn’t help but laugh as she decided it was best to just stay sitting on the ice. However, laughing made my head spin again, so I leant my head forwards so my forehead was resting on my knees.

𝕵ulia was beyond excited. February 15th, the long-awaited day where they depart for Koldovstoretz had arrived! They were to take arranged Portkeys to the Russian school, then go for the opening feast. As far as Julia knew, not everyone going was competing in a sport. Some were simply going to cheer Hogwarts on and have a good time, but Julia was participating. In figure skating. With @Laasya Manjunath. And she was really nervous, though happy too. She'd always liked figure skating, Julia had been taught when she was 5 by her parents and ever since then, winter had become her favorite season. This time she and Laasya were skating to a muggle song called 'A Sky Full Of Stars' by an apparently popular band called Coldplay. They'd decided on matching outfits and Julia had bought in Diagon Alley some time back. It was figure skating pants with silver gems on them, with a pastel-blue figure skating jacket along with a few accessories. She was going to be sharing a yurt with Laasya and Lily Clarke so with everything else, she just couldn't wait! Finally her group was called on and she walked over to the portkey, which was an old boot. She held on tight and smiled. This is gonna be fun she thought.
● ● ● ● ● Julia's back hurt. The landing was hard, and she felt a little dizzy, but not as much as the half-bloods or muggle-borns did. Since she had used portkey before, she was a little used to the effect, but the Muggle-borns and some of the half-bloods had never used a Portkey, so they were likely new to the feeling. She sat up and surveyed her surroundings. A few weeks before she had looked at a map of Koldovstoretz and now recognized that they had landed beside the Izba dock, right on the shores of the now frozen, Lake Bear. Julia smiled, feeling enthralled by the view. Snow blanketed the magnificent village. In the middle, where Julia was, there was a frozen Lake Bear, and all around were various yurts. She'd been told Koldovstoretz had its classes underground, she didn't know where exactly, but that didn't stop her from appreciating it. It was a magnificent sight. She decided she would do some skating before the opening feast, so she got out her gear and walked onto the ice feeling content and at home. ● ● ● ● ● Axel, camel, flip, sit. Axel, camel, flip, sit. Julia kept chanting that mentally, going through her favourite warm-up routine. It wasn't really a routine, but Julia like doing those in order, because once she kept repeating it and found a rhythm, it was really smooth and satisfying. She was just finishing up when she fell on her last sit spin, but instead of it hurting, it just felt good. Julia got back up and noticed a girl looking at another girl who had also fallen down next to Julia. She saw the girl watching was from Hogwarts. A... second year from Ravenclaw. Julia didn't know her name though so she decided to go up and ask. She went of the ice and walked over to a table where the girl was. "Hi! I'm Julia, Julia Evans. Are you from Hogwarts?" |

Traveling by portkey was not for him. For a good moment the world seemed to be spinning around him after landing, while his stomach was busy doing somersaults to its heart’s content. In an attempt to steady himself he grabbed and leaned against the closest steady thing he could find. However, seeing that some of his friends did not seem even close to as affected he straightened with determination. If Edward did not look queasy, he wouldn’t either.
It was a lot easier said than done, but thankfully the shockingly cold air helped. Drawing a deep breath he finally looked at his surroundings. The lake was… well, a lake. It looked plenty smooth to skate on though. He felt a ping of excitement for the coming competitions. He did not hover however. He had dressed sensible, with plenty of wool, a thick winter cloak and a scarf wound around his neck just to be safe. When handed a new cloak however, he simply layered it on top of the one he already had. Layers of different fabric was best for keeping the cold at bay after all. He finished clasping it with slightly stiff fingers before following his mates.
He had not been avoiding eating beforehand like some, simply because he knew he would be hungry eventually anyway. But he more than willingly followed Edward, Zephyr and Harumi as they walked between the serving tables. It was exciting! All the smells mixing together, as well as seeing how happy his friends were. He took his time to look and smell everything despite wrinkling his nose and grimacing at some rather peculiar options.
He could not help but snort at Zephyr’s comment about eating before it was all gone. «Yeah, if it isn’t empty before, it sure will be by the time we have served ourselves!» Despite the bravery of his comrades, he stayed far away from the snails. He couldn’t fathom why somebody would eat that voluntarily. He did not touch a couple of suspicious looking sweets either. But there was cheese! Simple slices, cheese bread as well as some sort of pasta. Making his way through he picked up a little of most things.
After eating his fill and more, his gaze once again went to the ice. It would be sad to miss such an opportunity after all. Turning to his friends the question spilled from his mouth before he had consciously decided to say it. «Hey guys, anyone wanna skate? The ice looks just perfect!»

Getting her balance back Rose tried to remain steady after the travel through the Portkey. It was not her first time traveling with a Portkey as she had done it to get to Tenūsa and back at home sometimes her family used to travel this way too. It was faster than others means of transportation. However one had to agree the Portkey might not be appreciated by all travelers using it. Indeed it was making you quite dizzy and it could happen to get sick. Actually that was Rose's first experience and she didn't really want to remember it nor reiterate it in any ways. Now she was used to use a Portkey to travel so there were nor risks for her to get sick. At least it was limited risks.
This time she felt a bit dizzier than usual and quite nauseous. Perhaps they had been spinning longer or was it just because her stomach was empty and put upside down. Now that her feet were on the ground Rose took a deep breath of the fresh -not to say icy cold- air taking away her nauseous feeling. She looked at her friends who started to walk in between tables where the fest was being hold. Rose smiled looking at it from afar before following while her eyes couldn't help looking everywhere but in front of her and where she was going. She spot the Lake on which her sparkling eyes fell upon. The ice was giving a glittering appearance that was beautiful. For a moment she wanted to go ice skating but soon enough some dark thoughts came to her mind as a remembrance of Tenūsa. Her expression slightly darkened as she frowned. This pretty frozen looking lake could shelter a creature one wouldn't want to meet. Rose shook her head to clear her thoughts and not to think of such things. But Tenūsa was so fresh in her mind that she couldn't help expecting the worst to happen. However if any magical creatures were around she would sensed it. Hopefully.
Thankfully her mind could totally be taken out of these unpleasant thinking when her friends' voice came to her ears. They indeed should eat before anything was left. She tried as much as she could to happily get back with her friends. The view of all the dishes did help her though. Everything looked to be delicious making it hard to choose. But she couldn't eat all anyways. Rose quickly glanced at what her friends were choosing. Well despite many dishes appealing to her especially grilled shrimps Rose decided to first eat the dish coming from Koldovstoretz and if her stomach was allowing her she would eat others. Thus she took a bit of beef stroganoff and stuffed cabbage rolls impatient to taste it.
Sitting and eating with her friends her mind went at ease for awhile as the taste of food brought her comfort as well. When she was done she contemplated taking a dessert but she was not sure to still have empty space inside. Therefore she decided for now to digest.
Her eyes looked around. Everyone seemed joyful. It was a nice view. Then her sight went on the frozen lake again. It was really tempting her. And as if someone had read her thought Max asked if anyone wanted to go ice skating. Rose's eyes widened while looking at him and a smile appeared on her face.
"Max!! You read mind!!" she said all excited. And already standing up while looking at her friends "Let's go!! That will be fun!"
That would be surely. But not without any second thoughts of something that could happen.
“She looked towards the dark, starry sky wishing she could drown in its vastness, the way one drifts in the deep, endless ocean.”
