Going from feeling like he had to keep his family proud of himself, and not wanting to embarrass them, to gradually, slowly but surely getting more comfortable with being himself. Eric's temperament will surely change, though in which way that is yet to be known. Who is to say this kid will be the same bookworm and reserved boy 6 years from now on? When the changes have already started to happen slowly but surely. To look back now, even with the little time he spent at this school, he made quite a few friends, even out of kids he would otherwise not really interact with before. And that is for the best.❞

Before Manchester...it was Seoul.
Prior to his parents even moving to Manchester, UK, they themselves were born and lived for most of their lives in Seoul, South Korea. They both attended Gyeongbokgung School for the Magically Gifted and were top students there. A few years after graduating, they moved to Manchester for work reasons.

And so the story starts. Eric was born on 5^th of August 2013. Born to quite a well-off pureblood family (albeit with mostly generational wealth, even though his parents were earning quite a bit as well), his life was in a way set from that moment on. He was surrounded by magic to some extent or another ever since he was a kid, way before he would even have his first instance of magic himself.
From seeing his parents use magic in their day-to-day lives to later on finding books on magic in the house, to even hearing stories that his mother used to read whenever he would need to sleep, he was in a way or another already in his element from day 1.
And yet, in another way, his life was a bit different. He had the "advantage" of growing up in a family that had little prejudice towards bloodlines and how pure a witch or wizard was, but even so, his interactions with muggles, muggleborns or even half blood people was inexistent prior to coming to Hogwarts. His parents didn't really hate other people for their blood, or think themselves as better or superior. But nonetheless they also didn't want to be associated with those other than purebloods.
As a kid, and before he would even be at Hogwarts, this was not really much of a problem. You cannot really miss what you never had. So he felt no actual loss.

Like most wizard born kids (and also purebloods at that), he was homeschooled, with a tutor coming to teach him every day and the expectations his parents had of Eric, sort of mirrored how he is now at Hogwarts. Despite not outright voicing their expectations of him, they did make it clear that they expected mostly the best from him, which prompted the determination he has now to either be the best, or among the best as well as have almost impeccable results.

That being said, this surely would be changed after he figured out that everyone else, regardless of blood, is just as interesting, just as unique and just as worth spending time with. To put it bluntly, his thoughts on this are surprisingly mature for his age. He thinks of this whole bloodlines as just some useless way to categorize people. Blood does not define everything in that sense.
But even so, even his "sort of understanding" family has its limits on what they find acceptable and what they don't. And the struggle between being true to oneself and not wanting to disappoint or embarrass one's family is a struggle Eric will come to face quite a bit and will have to eventually decide on what is more important.

First Instance of Magic
His first instance of magic was at his childhood home in Manchester. He was almost 9 at the time and while reading a kid's book, more precisely "The Tales of Beedle the Bard" and while reading a particular story, he got quite excited on what finding out what was going to happen next. That prompted the pages to flip quite fast, matching his excitement, but also taking him a bit by surprise.Of course after all was said and done, his parents explained to him what this meant, but than again this was no surprise at least to his family. For an 8 year old, this was still very much something to be shocked by....in a good way.
