OOC Notes: Figured I'd tag the Crew since it's kind of a lore post (it sort of sets up another post I'm hoping to do in the near future, if anything)
Too much time had passed for Emily to properly sit down and calculate the next step in her forest escapades. With the Autumn Ball, the Hogsmeade Bombing and everything in between, she rushed at the chance to hide away back in the dungeons the first free chance she got to do some much needed planning. She couldn't sit by and wait any longer. As it stood right now, nearly a third of the school was laughing at her, eyeing her like she was a mad old woman. She needed to put her ambition into motion. She needed to scout further into the forest, to start somewhere... To find one creature and work from there.
All her notes and memos were strewn across the floor. Every page detailed basic facts for every creature rumoured to inhabit the forest. She knew what to look out for, the sounds and steps to stay clear of, all of which would hopefully lead her down a path to a creature of reason. The choices in themselves were limited, though limited they may be, there were still opportunities.
Sparing herself the hassle of holding her wand for light, she remembered to bring a few candles to light her way back to her little niche in the wall from last time. She was half expecting Colin to give her a friendly jumpscare like he did last time, but alas only the sounds of Emily's breathing, the wrinkling of her brain and the suspicious dripping of liquid down the walls were her only companions of sound. Probably for the best given how much work she had to do. She was welcome to Colin's antics any day of the week but this one would be the first she'd have to decline politely.
Her eyes bounced from one page to the next and back again, trying to absorb all the information she had gathered over the last two months at once. The school can call her naïve, foolish, wishful, whatever they wanted to say. But Emily was done silently asking for permission to change the world when the world itself clearly wasn't interested in doing all this work.
Who knew how much time had passed but when Emily's eyes began to cross after staring at the pages for so long, she bunched up her papers and slipped them into a paper folder before shelving the folder in a tiny, hidden gap between the stone slabs in the wall. She stood up and brushed herself off, the smell of her candles chasing off the musty stench that lingered outside the candle's airflow.
With her work hidden away from the rest of the school, she took a dander around the dungeons, putting out her candles to put them away as well before casting Lumos to light her way. Twice may not have been an awful lot of times to come down, but she still couldn't see the fear factor in the dungeons. Though that could be attributed to having comfortable light sources at her disposal. Without it, she would more likely see the appeal.
Her mind continued to wander elsewhere, her footsteps following accordingly.
So even in spite of the spooks, Emily found the dungeons to be a remarkable place for thinking.

Eric was...by most others' thoughts and standards (or a very solid few of them at the very least) an..odd person. The sort of odd that was going around the dungeons. Not to explore the place or really go against some rules. No...he was frankly not even caring for that. Sure it was intriguing and someone who was more adventurous might even jump at the thought of going around the dungeons in a way to seek a thrill of going against rules, or even going there to explore the..."darker" areas of Hogwarts. That was not to say Eric was not adventurous, or that he was not curious. No...in that aspect he was very much normal. He liked a bit of thrill, and he was anything but ordinary in terms of curiosity.
That being said, he found it quiet, peaceful and a very good place to start in terms of studying when it came to the dungeons. What others saw as...almost creepy he saw it as an opportunity to be able to study or read in peace, as well as take a few books he may or may not was able to read openly in the library without having people wander if he was in his full faculty of mind here. This plan of...using such an unusual place for studying was working well and all that for the past week or so. Of course he had a plan in the unfortunate event if that this "accommodation" was no longer an option but he would rather not put that plan into action. What he didn't expect was to come across such a situation that required a shift in plans NOW.
The first year Gryffindor was about to go around the corner to his usual spot he picked out when he stopped a bit in his tracks here. He saw how the other student...someone he had yet to even meet in school let alone in the dungeons was going around putting out the candles, the more pleasant smell having overwritten a bit how the usual place smelled like on a normal occasion. A few questions swirled in his mind here. What was she doing here...who was she? Was she also studying here because it was quiet and no one was really usually down here so she couldn't be disturbed much..or was it some other reason? Troublemaker? Hold up why did he even care? He moved a bit to be out of sight. Whatever reason, they didn't need to stumble upon each other, in a way it was good for both of them if they avoi-....
Too late for that it seemed as, when she was walking around to put out the last candles, and casted Lumos they almost bumped into each other. Well...now what? "Hello." Yeah just...greet each other like you are not both sneaking out in the dungeons. Mhm. Sure. Such a normal day.

Dungeon Drama with @Eric Kim
A long, tired yawn escaped Emily's mouth as she traversed back through the tunnels she first came through when she got down to the dungeons earlier. She couldn't remember the last time she had been in such fatigue. Well, a bit of unwinding back in the Common Room might help her relax and enjoy a night's sleep once she'd eventually fall into bed later, but that was still hours away. Much to Emily's exhausted chagrin.
She stumbled over her foot at one point, eliciting a startled yelp from the tired Huffie. As knackered as she was, she had to see her plan through. Determination dictated that much as her mind kept chugging along replaying recorded paragraphs from her textbooks and independent notes. She was on the cusp of putting it into motion. A little longer and she'd be able to take the plunge back into the abyss with a little more than just a sit-down in the moonlight in mind. That thought at the very least was keeping her awake and optimistic despite the long hours of preparation work that drained her energy, and almost nearly her sanity.
That all came to a dead stop as Emily got internally spooked by the presence of a Gryffindor boy standing curiously in front of her. Another step and Emily may have accidentally trampled the poor lad in her zombie stupor. They didn't seem neither suspicious nor natural - mostly due to the fact that Emily didn't anticipate running into anyone down here. On the whole they looked quite harmless actually.
Emily lowered her wand, preventing the boy from being blinded by her half-ass casted lumos. She met his eyes with a small friendly smile. "Hello..."
She set down her blown out candles when she felt them slip from her arms amidst her exhaustion. Setting them down to the side against the curve of the floor connecting to the wall, she looked back to the boy with a quizzical but harmless look.
"As hypocritical as this must be for me to ask, what brings you to a place as strange as this?"
Then again, maybe the dungeons weren't so rare a choice to take a dander through... As the rumours of missing children have spoken of once in the past.

Well the surprise was on his part as well, though he had time to at least come to terms with that by the time they bumped into each other almost. Yeah this was totally not awkward...or odd...just the usual Monday morning of going around the dungeons and meeting another student, nothing out of the ordinary here. Eric was a bit taken a bit by the question though. Then again the Hufflepuff didn't seem to be a prefect or someone that might end up getting him in trouble, and she was equally as adventurous for going to the dungeons when really...no students were normally allowed here unless with good reason.
Then again, if Eric were to say his mind, this whole rule was a bit overlooked. If it was so restricted and out of bounds, why make it so accessible? And so intriguing, and...well the list could go on and on and on but then he would get lost in his thoughts again.
"The dungeons are quiet." He deadpanned almost before feeling the need to explain further continuing. "Much quieter than the common room or corridors or really anywhere else. Mostly because no one is usually here unless they are passing through here to get to classes. But this area is far away from classes so through these corridors I can't say I normally met anyone yet." Now he was thinking he talked too much, almost rambling, though this was not a lot by a stretch. To add to that, in this so called deserted place that he met no one in usually here was his first encounter with someone equally as in need for peace and quiet or...the opposite, quite adventurous and mischevious. He had yet to figure that out, which one she was. "Name's Eric, nice to meet you." Right cause that was the missing part here. Introductions. Then again.
"What are you...doing here? As hypocritical as it may sound." He seemed to take a page out of her book here asking her the same question, in a very similar manner here. After all they were both "hypocritical" to some extent here, but they may as well keep at this for now. It worked for these first few minutes of their encounter.

Great minds think alike, it would seem. The dungeons, for all the doom and gloom it sported both within their walls and beyond them into some unknown otherworld, were actually surprisingly, but welcomingly quiet. Whether that was a good thing or not was debatable but if it attracted the attention of both Emily and the intriguing young lion before her, then that was something.
"I'm inclined to agree. Putting the ethereal grungy aesthetic to the side, it's devoid of distractions and noise, like you said." Emily's eyes surveyed the walls, almost like trying to remind herself that "quiet" didn't always have to mean it was a good thing. Then her brows creased slowly.
"Though I suppose it also boils down to whether or not you can stomach the silence once you really start to think about why it's quiet down here in the first place..."
Uncovering the odd rumour here and there about students allegedly vanishing in this part of the school - among others - felt a bit dark to slip from Emily's tongue. She thought it best to save it for a more appropriate time, as well as keep it hidden from younger minds she would rather not want to intimidate. "I was just getting some work done for classes," she said simply. "It would appear the older you get, the more work teachers like to throw in your direction. Heh... The many trials of being a student."
She took a few paces ahead in one direction down a corridor to her side.
"If you're welcome to company, I'm happy to walk with you for a little bit until we get out of here. I'm Emily, by the way... Pleasure's all mine."

Speech: #6e0003 OOC Information:ReducioNone"I try to do my best to not think on the details of why the quietness. Then again I have not seen anything that would hint that this place is being used as a dungeon anyways." Not that....he tried searching the place. In all fairness he just saw as much as he was interested to see around here. Though as soon as Emily moved the subject towards homework or well studying overall he seemed to have an interest in that instead of the grim surroundings they were in. "I kind of enjoy the whole work needed. Plus that is why I am showing up here anyways." he did glance a bit at the things she had but the Gryffindor kept it as subtle as possible.
He did join her as they walked through the corridors of the dungeons, as the place seemed to be less and less dark, partly because of the company they shared now. "This place must be great for DADA homework." A remark Eric made mostly given the surroundings. It almost felt like they were exploring some dangerous side of the school. Then again to some it may be dangerous enough to be avoided.
"Does it get more interesting the more we advance though? Since we don't have many interesting spells in most classes in first year." Well they were interesting yes, they were also based on their age and level obviously. Then again, with some exceptions, most would not have that many practical uses, other than say for pranks and whatnot. Or maybe he was expecting too much from the first year of all things. Ok it was most likely that he had big expectations that would never be met at this point and was excited for things that wouldn't be so soon.
The older student would most likely find the earlier choice of asking if he wanted to stick around a mistake here now since he was talking her ear off here on subjects he found interesting. In Eric's defense, they seemed to have similar interests, and he was keeping it to the subjects that seemed to have sneaked their way in the conversation anyways. "Maybe the knockback jinx is useful...incendio as well." Half of the things he was talking about he didn't even learn of yet! He just checked the curriculum in advance and was looking through books in the library.⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯ ✧✧✦☽♦☾✦✧✧ ⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯

Those words sounded like they came from a true workaholic. Emily could recognise one just by that spill of explanations itself. She smiled meaningfully. "Despite it's dreary aesthetic, I can't argue that it attracts a convenient silence. It makes it pretty handy for private studying when the library gets too busy. I've debated many times that I ought to come here more often in such events, rather than limit myself to places where I'll only get distracted by loud noises and colourful things...!"
Their walk together was uncommonly pleasant, given the environment. Perhaps it was because the two were getting along well, or maybe it was due to a shared fondness for the eerie charm of the dungeons and it's welcoming state of silence. It was obvious that neither of them were put off by the lure of rumour and mystery of the dungeons, walking together like they owned the place.
"I think the spells do get a lot more interesting in Second Year," Emily answered thoughtfully. "You get to learn variants of different charms. In DADA you'll learn about different survival skills and techniques. Of course, you'll learn the conventional "everyday" spell here and there across your subjects, but you'll also learn cool ones, like how to conjure butterflies and turn stairs into slides!"
Not that Emily ever found it boring back in her First Year to learn spells... Not with the background she had. Though she would politely admit that the spells she was learning so far this year were a step up in contrast, that wasn't to say her last year's spells weren't entirely useless. Everything had a purpose.
"There'll be a use for all kinds of spells we learn, and not just for defending ourselves," she mused aloud. "Otherwise I doubt they would've been discovered or created, much less taught to us by the school, no?" She winked at him.
"All it takes is a little imagination... Like what I might come up with if I want to conjure a trillion butterflies and flowers and have them flit about the corridors and hung on the windows around the school!"
