Edith was an only child. This was because shortly after she was born, her parents died of a car accident. Her mother was the witch but she didn't have time to save herself because she was very ill and weak at the time. Then her father, the muggle, was killed. This left her aunt to look after her. Her aunt was not cruel to her but did not raise her in luxury. She gave her a fair education, and good food. However, Edith still grew up envious of other children with perfectly alive parents. At the age of 8, Edith got sent to a foster family because her aunt was having a child and she could care for Edith no longer. At school, Edith made a strong friend with another girl called Holly. She grew up with her, and had an okay life, as they would have fun with Holly especially in the summer. But still, she felt sad whenever she looked out of the window and saw children with their parents holding their hand when crossing the road. Then, at the age of 10, the miracle happened. The doorbell rang and she got a letter from the postman - she was very surprised to see that it was addressed to her. She and Holly read it, then showed it to the foster mother. She was very pleased for Edith and Edith had some money (not a fortune, but quite a lot) left over from her mother, so she was able to buy her things for the school. For the summer holidays Edith returns to her foster family, but she enjoys it at Hogwarts so much that she stays for the winter holidays. She and Holly communicate by post every other week, and are still on good terms.

Edith was walking from the shops to the foster family with Holly at the age of 10, a chunk of bread in her hand with bought by her savings. She was feeling particulary forlon, and didn't look properly. It was a dark evening, and Edith almost got run over by a bus. But, with an impossible step, she sort of flew to the other end of the road in a blink, unharmed. The bus driver didn't seem to notice her. Holly didn't die either: She had already crossed the road. All was well, apart from the fact that she dropped her bread on the road and it got driven over by the bus.

This appears to not be a complete application. We will need your backstory and first instance of magic in this post. We will need a link to your encyclopedia in this post. Your trunk will need to have a copy of your stats.
Pending - Lear June 13
Thank you for your edits. We will need some additional info and some of what you have does not align with the setting.
1. I see you are a half-blood, how did a car crash kill them. I assume one of them has magic and could have healed themselves or protected themself. I suggest adding they were killed instantly somehow.
2. Orphanages have not existed in a century. Link, your character would need to be cared for a distant relative or be adopted.
3. Your background needs to be at least 220 words. Yours is 134 words. Please expand your backstory.
4. You were supposed to put the stats in your trunk. I did it for you, but normally Index does not do this.
Pending - Lear June 15
I see some edits already, once the update in the first instance of magic is managed (mentioning orphanage) and your encyclopedia backstory matches this app (you are a foster child in this and adopted in your encyclopedia), we can re-eval your app since this appears to be a WIP.

Born on December 6th of 2012 Lear comes from a pure blood family- respected and influential. His parents, Cassius and Elira Thornwood, are part of the old wizarding elite- wealthy enough to never work a day in their lives, living instead off of generations of accumulated gold and connections.
Lear was not a planned child, his parents have already had their perfect son 10 years before him. Jean is a prodigy who sailed through Hogwarts as a Slytherin prefect and now holds a fast-rising position in the Department of Magical Law Enforcement. His parents were loving towards Lear but they also made it painfully clear that he had to be as good as his brother, but to never outshine him. Every achievement was met with a measured nod and a reminder of Jean’s accomplishments at the same age.
Lear grew up in a big manor filled with enchanted heirlooms, disapproving portraits, and his parents' influential acquaintances, and was forced to live up to his family's good name and to keep up proper appearances.
His family relations aren't easy. Even though his parents had never been cruel to him, Lear was never truly close to them. They had their own lives- too focused on social politics and fawning over Jean to take the time to truly know Lear as a person. He was never neglected, they always paid plenty of attention to him. But still, he often felt more like a pet project than a child. It was as if he existed only in the role of son, not as an independent being.
He was taught how to present himself, how to make a good impression on people of importance. But those lessons always came with a clear message- he had an image to uphold. Every reminder, every piece of advice, served to remind him that he was an extension of their reputation- not someone with his own identity.
Jean and Lear had never been close. Jean had never quite forgiven him for being born- stripping him of the comfortable privilege of being an only child, the center of attention. And Lear, in turn, began to resent Jean for casting a shadow so large he could never step out of it.
He knew that, in their parents’ eyes, he would always be an imitation. He could either follow Jean’s path, trying to replicate his success and charm, or he could be labeled a disappointment. Sometimes, Lear already felt like one.

It happened at one of their family's social gatherings. All of the Thornwood family's acquaintances were gathered- all influential and of high regard.
When during the dinner a 6 year old Lear knocked over his glass of water and spilled it all over the table he could immediately feel his father's scolding gaze on him. The conversation at the table quieted down, as his father cleaned the table with a quick movement of his wand. His mother immediately tried to distract their guests with conversation but Lear could hear Jean's cynical snort, and his condescending gaze.
Lear felt like he was going to boil over- he was so embarrassed and he knew that his parents were disappointed in him now, but of it all his brother's smirk was the worst. Jean's eyes felt like a physical weight on him, it felt as if it was crushing him.
Lear didn’t speak. He didn’t frown. He simply stared at his own plate and then every glass on the table split cleanly down the middle. No shattering. No flying shards. Just sharp, perfect cracks.
Overhead, the chandelier flickered once and steadied.

Character Backstory:
I was born in Brighton on the 1st of June in Brighton, England on a vast stretch of land to both of my parents, stepfather Dragonis and mother Morgana Montecello. Both of my parents were sorted into Gryffindor when they were at Hogwarts and so I was intrigued growing up as to what it would be like to go to Hogwarts. I grew up without the luxury of buildings, traffic, or even friends. I was unfortunately separated from the rest of the city life as I live in the deep country of London away from the hustle and bustle of the city, which was nice because I would wake up and see the sunrise every morning before I started my day which would give me the chance to think about the new day's ambitions, and would see the sun set before I went to sleep every night reflecting on what ambitions and goals I had accomplished that day. I am an 11-year-old boy with black hair, deep brown eyes, suntanned skin, about 5 ft tall, skinny. I am friendly, outgoing, I love to learn, very energetic, and eager to answer questions about anything. I am also extremely ambitious and determined to get what I want and need, which leads me to be very stubborn, selfish, and sassy at times. I went through a time of depression at age 8 for a year due to my parents' divorce, but now that I have grown to get to know him, I love my stepfather Dragonis, who is very generous, gentle, and kind. My mother Morgana is just the same if not more loving and will give the shirt off her back for me or even for strangers. I am used to a strict curfew: I wake at 6:00 am every morning and go to bed at 10:00 pm every night. I have chores throughout the day and don't go outside to play much, but I don't mind because it keeps my mind alert, mature and ethical. I learn responsibility, honor, loyalty, and respect because of my isolation. Do I have regrets? I regret nothing I have learned thus far in my life as a 10-year-old. It has made me who I am. But I am anxious as to what it is that older kids from the city do. My favorite subjects in Muggle school growing up were English, and History. In my spare time when I was able to play outside, I liked to braid the strands of my Horse’s tail hair. I have a black horse named Dracos and it is my pride and joy. My ambitions in life before Hogwarts were to travel to the other continents and see the world at large.
First Instance of Magic:
I did notice that a few months before I turned eleven, something that I still cannot explain happened to me. It was a dream or even a nightmare but I truly not sure. I remember that I had gone to bed as normal, but in the morning, my blankets jumped off me! I remember that last night when I went to bed, I had a dream that I had journeyed to a far-off land, full of forests and trails that lead to waterfalls. It was a utopia that I had always longed for. I decided to fall asleep under a gigantic tree with large branches that looked like blankets. I laid down and fell asleep. Several hours later I thought I would get up (in the dream) and find some food...Thats when it happened...
According to my Stepdad, the blankets were wrapped around me like a burrito, and when he came in to wake me, they suddenly jumped off me and landed on the floor! At first, I thought it was my Stepdad who had done it to wake me up as he usually did or that I had kicked them off by accident, but when I asked him about it, he said confidently that he had not done it, that I must have thought it in my mind, and that the "magic" happened on its own.

- I see the residence is different. If you want to be from Brighton England, cool. Just put it in "Any changes to profile?" in this app, because the residence is currently London, England.
- The rest seems fine, but there is an issue. As a pureblood, you would not go to muggle school, unless with a very good explanation. There are alternatives, read Pre-Hogwarts Education for Wizarding Kids
- Put your First Instance of Magic in the first post of your encylopedia.

Pyce lived their whole life in Ellesmere Port with their mother, Donna, and their twin brother, Hecate. Being raised by a pureblood witch, Pyce spent far more time in the world of magic than outside of it. Though Donna was determined that her children would be familiar with both sides of their heritage, despite them not knowing their father. So Pyce and Hecate were familiar with the world of muggles. Pyce fell in love with the magicless world and looked deeper into it, occasionally going to muggle libraries to read on their history, legends, and other such things. While they have never quite shaken off the allure of the muggles and their way of life, nowadays, Pyce tends to be more comfortable around other magic folk.
When Pyce was much younger, up until they were eight years old, they went under the name Helios Dior Rotanski. They were unfamiliar with the term "non-binary" and lived like that until a close friend, Mori, came out as such when Pyce was six. This led to questions and research for the following two years until Pyce discovered that they too were non-binary. After a month of deliberation from then-Helios and Hecate, the name Pyce was chosen and has been used by family and friends ever since. While they do use they/them pronouns; masculine words, such as son, brother, etc. are still fine, and quite frankly preferred, when talking about them.
Ever since they learned of them, Pyce has been a huge fan of dragons. They met their best friend, Stella, through a shared love of these creatures. One might even say that this love of dragons is the only reason Pyce chose to stick around in the world of magic. They are endlessly fascinated and enthralled by these majestic animals, and they would love to see one up close. It's their life's goal to work with dragons in any capacity. It also make Pyce extremely excited for their third year at Hogwarts, so they can take Care of Magical Creatures and hopefully get to see a dragon in real life! If not, at least the class can prepare them for hopefully working with dragons later in life.

Pyce's first instance of accidental magic happened like many things in their life; with Hecate by their side. At the age of four, both children were becoming more acquainted with muggles, and how muggles saw magic. Pyce loved muggle fairytales and thought the inaccurate lore was charming. Hecate did not share this opinion.
They fought, like brothers do, over this small matter. But, to a four-year-old, even small things can seem remarkable big. The two got worked up, arguing and arguing, until Hecate had his first instance of magic. He had accidentally ignited the cozy red and gold scarf Pyce had been wearing. The argument took a back seat as the scarf burned. Though, quite strangely, it did not burn Pyce, nor their hair, nor any of the rest of their clothes. In that moment, the child was rather fire-proof. Eventually, Pyce removed the flaming article of clothing, and the twins watched it burn down to ash, before running off to tell their mother what had transpired.

I grew up in a large family in a house which is surrounded by trees. My father is a professor and my mother does all the housework. I went to a regular school where I was known for being helpful and doing well in my studies. At home, I enjoyed playing games with my brother, helping my mother in the kitchen, and reading in the garden

My first magical moment happened when I was seven. During Diwali, I accidentally knocked my father’s book into a tray of lamps. On instinct I reached out to get it and the book just jumped into my hand. My family was amazed and I was so surprised and a bit scared, of course i didn’t know I was a witch yet

Sebastian was born to a rather average muggle family, the oldest child to two upper-middle class parents in Fortrose, Scotland. His mother Bonnie Kitt taught a young Sebastian values like patience and hopes he keeps her advice at Hogwarts. She is, understandably, rather worried about sending her son off to a boarding school she's never heard of. His father Fergus Kitt took the news of him being a wizard with a hint of skepticism but relented in enrolling him before teasing Sebastian with a "Well, you always were a bit weird. I'm not surprised."
Sebastian has a sister two years younger than him called Eilidh. He does miss her but (being so young and also finding out he gets to be a wizard isn't too fussed about leaving her. This will change as he ages. Whilst the two weren't wildly close and took part in the regular sibling fights, she looks up to her big brother.
He made friends with the neighbours' son the same age as him, Ronan. Ronan got Sebastian into football and he isn't too interested but enjoyed spending time with Ronan. He can play decently well and is a proud supporter of the muggle team Crystal Palace (something picked up from Ronan's English side of the family). He made two new friends upon starting muggle primary school. Their names were Lachlan and Rory. Sebastian enjoyed swimming and hopes to find a way to carry that on at Hogwarts. He is also slightly worried about fitting in as a muggleborn but has high hopes for his future in the wizarding world.

His first instance of magic was when Sebastian's father took him to a bakery at about 4 years old to buy a loaf of bread. A young Sebastian was dead set on getting a cupcake, but his father didn't buy it. Upon leaving the shop, Sebastian's father found the cupcake in his son's hand and hurriedly went back in to pay. The cupcake had been sitting behind a display-glass window, so him getting it was very unusual. After this, a few other small happenings like his duvet tucking itself in before bed or shoes and ties tying themselves before school occurred that further confused his parents.

Kori grew up in London with a pure-blooded family - her mother, father, retired grandparents, and.. most importantly, their cat. Aside from her (and the cat), none of the family were home much, but her parents did homeschool her a little bit when they had the time. Apart from that, she kind of took academics into her own hands, reading book after book and doing her best to understand the world around her.
Her family wasn't necessarily against the idea of her going to a wizarding prep school (and she would have loved to go for the social aspect of it), but she never ended up going. As previously mentioned, she didn't have many friends her age, but she did go out into the wizarding world with her parents on occasion. One of her best friends was a half blood, but they later discovered they were a squib and ended up going to a muggle boarding school. The two sort of drifted apart after that, since.. well.. both of their parents didn't approve, with Kori's parents not wanting her to be associated with a squib, and her friend's parents not wanting their contact with the magical world. They used to send letters to each other via owl, but over time they kind of lost touch. Kori didn't make friends easily after that.
Pre-Hogwarts, she began to identify as (possibly)cisgender queer, though finding all the different labels and spectrums super complicated and confusing - they never did fully come out to anyone (parents, the few childhood friends she had, even herself), but as of now they are using they/she pronouns, proudly unlabeled and sort of questioning

Korinna had been really distracted, just having finished folding the last of her laundry per her mother's request.
Sighing, she pulled out the journal she kept, beginning to sarcastically scribble into one of the pages.
The rain is pattering against the windowsill repeatedly, so that's annoy- she paused her writing quickly, her eyes widening as she heard the soft, pained meow of a kitten from outside.
Korinna wasn't sure what happened, only that the kitten came bounding in quick as a flash, fur wet. Her eyes whipped towards the window, surprised as they saw that it had opened and closed itself. Nobody else was in the house, and the window had been dead locked - the cat wouldn't have been able to open it. So who did?
Ten years old and they hadn't showed their first instance of magic, ten years old and surely their mother thought they were a squib and a disappointment by now, even if she didn't voice it- But.. but that? Was that her?
... it had been a long afternoon, and well.. they should probably learn to expect unexpected things by now.

Esyllt was raised in a small Welsh village by her single mother, a muggle named Helen Priddy. Helen always valued learning and creativity in her daughter's education. And Esyllt is indeed very creative. Esyllt was always fascinated by nature and plants. She has had lots of fun gardening with her mother, who taught her what little she knew about it. Her favourite game to play as a child was pretending to be a witch brewing potions with mud, leaves, flowers as well as any other thing she could find, and then imagining their effects. She always did alright in school, but would often end up lost in her thoughts and longing to be outside or making something practical, rather than learning maths for example.
Despite not knowing her father, who went away soon after her birth, Esyllt has always been surrounded and loved by her mother's (quite numerous) family members, and she has never felt alone. She has a great relationship with her mother, even though she sometimes feels her mother is overprotective and strict. She also made friends with other kids, especially after starting primary school. The names of those she grew closest to are Kerenza and Maria, two muggle girls of her age.
Although her mother was able to raise her well, Esyllt and her mother never travelled much, certainly not far from Llanddulas at least, and she grew up pretty much always seeing the same people over and over. They were both shocked to learn the existence of the wizarding world, especially Helen, who was distrustful of this story at first. Despite her excitement, Esyllt can't help but feel a little worried at the idea of attending a school she doesn't know so far from home and the people she does know.

It happened quite late, when Esyllt was already 10 years old. She had spent an afternoon baking a pie with her mother. Esyllt was about to taste the freshly out of the oven pie by dipping a finger in it when her mother started lecturing her about it. They ended up having a small argument, during which the pie slowly got crispier and crispier. As Esyllt grew more and more irritated, the once appetising pie got more and more burned. It ended up having a much darker shade but no explanation could be find as to why and Esyllt's mother assumed it had been overcooked without noticing it before the squabble started.

Evangeline was born in Inistioge, Ireland, to a muggle mother, Rosalyn, and a wizard father, Paul. While she was aware of the existence of magic from a young age, it was not commonly used in her household growing up. Her father tried his best to lead a fully non-magical life, as he was paranoid of getting discovered by the townspeople. The town consisted of several large families that were close and well-known, including the old Hemingway family that had lived quietly amongst the muggle folk for generations.
Evangeline grew up as an only child, which never bothered her much. She lived close to her cousin, Julianna, who would often play with her and get up to various mischiefs. All of the kids around the same age as her in the town would meet up and run around outside often, as there weren’t many people in the town and everybody knew each other.
Evangeline lived a quiet, happy life satisfied with everything she had. Going to school, playing with her friends, then going home to a calm house is exactly what she got used to in her short, simple life. Nothing changed until she was 9 years old, when she had her first instance of magic. Life became a bit more confusing afterwards as she prepared for Hogwarts with her cousin, Julianna.

First Instance of Magic:

When she was 9 years old, Evangeline experienced her first ever instance of magic. As most kids her age do, she had a small group of kids she often played with outside. The group consisted of a boy named Timothy (quite the reckless one), a boy Simon (more of the quiet and intelligent kind), and a kindhearted yet daring girl named Clair apart from herself and occasionally her cousin Julianna. It was a sunny evening in August, shortly before the sun would begin to set, and they were off in the hills climbing the big, ancient tree that looked down over the town. Simon was always a bit nervous about things like this, but after a bit of taunting from Timothy (who was high up in the thinner branches), Simon worked his way halfway up the tree and sat on one of the sturdier-looking branches amongst the midst of the leaves. Evangeline sat perched between two branches that split off from each other, looking out at the small town in the mid-distance. As she gazed at the grass blowing in the wind, enjoying the warm day and having fun with her friends, she was soon alarmed by a loud *SNAP* and a scream. Snapping her head around, everybody gasped as the branch Simon was in broke off from the tree and he began to fall towards the ground, too far down for such a small boy. Her heart seemed to skip a beat, but there was nothing she could do to help him. Suddenly, as he neared the ground, he slowed as if falling through a thick substance. His momentum lost, he returned to falling at a normal speed and hit the ground hard. He gasped for air, the wind knocked out of him but otherwise fine. Evangeline was confused—what had just happened? Whatever it was, she needed to go home and tell her father.
