Bonfire Night
RPing as Zophyr Qethnis from Uagadou Genderfluid, pronouns at the moment: they/them☽ Kirundi | French | English | Swahili | Arabic | Tswana | Xhosa ☾Zophyr raised an eyebrow, letting out a sarcastic "Mmmhm" when Reuben claimed he deserved all the popcorn for being such a good friend. "Well, at least leave some for your... friend." It was ridiculous how much they wanted to tease him and say girlfriend, and it was crystal clear they were certainly thinking it, but they decided to wait on it. Lorelai seemed like a nice girl, they didn't want to frustrate her. They could tease Reuben back at Uagadou. And boy would that be fun.

As the Castelobruxo student took some popcorn of her own, Reuben said two words that made Zophyr nearly fall over. Hey Ren. Hey Ren? Ren? Had they heard correctly? Was there another Ren? Their heartrate had become ridiculously fast in the span of a second. They looked up with a start towards where Reuben was facing... and there he was. Ren Willow-Saito. Why was Zophyr's heart racing? They had only met once before, shared a dance, that was it. There was nothing else, they were just friends, if not acquaintances. Friends weren't supposed to make this much red go to Zophyr's cheeks.
But gods, Ren looked so good in the light of the bonfire, with a (very enthusiastic) sparkler in his hand and a slightly shocked expression on his face. Zophyr wanted nothing more than to go up to him and start dancing again.
They took a breath, wiped their surprise from their face, and calmed themselves down. It was okay. They had no idea why they were reacting this way, but it had to stop. It was probably just the adrenaline, and the bonfire, and the fact that Ren looked particularly good today. Pretty people sometimes were a bit much for the senses. That was it.
"You know Ren too?" they asked Reuben, calmly. That was good. Being calm was good. It was confirmation that nothing was abnormal. Except Ren was coming closer now, and despite the fact that Zophyr had stopped blushing and was taking breaths and staying calm, their heartrate would not go down.

❅ Looking at the fire, the girl answered "Yeah, I am from Hogwarts, though I don't really have what you'd call a 'Hogwarts accent'." Astrid shrugged. Yeah, the other girl definitely didn't sound like the Hogwarts' students she had talked to. "What's Durmstrang like?" The brunette had turned to the blonde, who kept her gaze. "Hum, you probably know this stereotype that Durmstrang is cold and military? Well it kinda is. When we first come to the school, we have a week of survival training, and we have mandatory workout every morning. But like, between students it's very great." Still looking at the other girl, the Norwegian thinks about her friend group, her Quidditch team, her hangouts with her cousins.
With a smile, she asks "How is Hogwarts tho? Is it as dangerous as the balls?". If one person even tries to convince Astrid that Hogwarts' balls are not dangerous, she'll laugh at them. But she'll still attend all of them because of the drama, especially Durm drama. "Sorry. I'm Violeta, though most people just call me Violet, but I don't really care at all. What's your name?" "Oh, well, nice to meet you Violeta. My name is Astrid." Violet was wearing jeans and a leather jacket, a little similar to Felix's jackets.
People around were laughing, talking happily, having fun. It was nice to see. Marshmallows were Astrid's favourite camping/campfire thing. Some kids were getting some over the fire, maybe she'll so that later. Quickly enough though, the smell started to bother her. She felt it again, the cold mass climbing up her leg. Eyes wide, she stood up and shook her leg, trying to get the slug off. It wasn't coming off, she could still feel it, but looking down, she could not see it. That's when it clicked. Valentin's slug smelled like burning marshmallows. And the smell made her think of the slug. Fuck it. Shivering, she looked back at Violeta, before sitting down again. The girl must be thinking that she was weird. "Sorry. Something very weird happened this afternoon and yeah." The feeling was so present, it felt so real. She couldn't stay here. It wasn't surprising that the others weren't here. "Hu, does it bother you if we move a little bit away from the fire? I don't feel well next to it." Then she stood up again, and starting walking away from the campfire. ❅

Ula had barely taken a few steps toward the snack bar when she felt a sudden, unexpected shoulder bump. She stumbled slightly, her eyes widening in surprise. Looking to her side, she saw the boy she had just tripped jogging past her, his marshmallow stick clamped between his teeth and a mischievous look in his eyes.
The realization hit her quickly. He wasn't just letting it go—he was turning it into a competition. The audacity of it made her smirk, a genuine one this time. She couldn't remember the last time someone had the nerve to challenge her so directly.
She wasn't one to run after anything, let alone snacks, but this just turned into something different. This was personal.
"Alright, game on," she muttered to herself, a determined glint in her eye. She needed a way to slow him down, something subtle but effective. Thinking quickly, she reached into her designer bag and pulled out a small perfume bottle she had stashed, a plan quickly forming in her mind.
Her eyes zeroed in on the boy as she picked up her pace, her long legs making it easy to catch up to him, maneuvering around the scattered obstacles he was knocking over her way. However, not all of them were so easily avoided. A tipped cup splashed cold liquid onto her ankle, and a stray pillow nearly tripped her. Ula's competitive spirit only ignited further as she gracefully recovered, her determination unwavering. She wasn't about to let him win this easily.
As she reached his side, she shot him a sideways glance, her faux-concern replaced with genuine amusement. Putting her plan to use, she sprayed a generous amount directly in front of the boy’s path in hopes that the overwhelming scent will make his eyes water, causing him to falter.
"Smell that?" she quipped with a smirk. "It’s called Keep Crying, But I’m Still Winning This."
With that, she darted ahead, not bothering to look back, her scent lingering in the air as she sprinted towards the snack bar. The thrill of the competition was intoxicating, and for the first time in a long while, Ula felt a genuine rush of excitement. Weaving through the chaotic campgrounds, the crowd's chatter and laughter filled the air. The race was on, and it was anyone’s guess who would reach the finish line first.

xxx | MENTIONAodhan knew he was rather tiny for his age. Other kids back at home loved to mention it, the older ones in specific claiming it made sense he was closer to "hell," considering his love for causing them headaches. Even with their annoying commentary, it was simply another thing the boy let fly over his head. Since when did height matter? He always found a way to make things work regardless of his "short legs" and "baby hands." Perhaps it's just what bland people used to gloat when they didn't have much to gloat about.
Everything stayed that way until this race, where he noticed his rival swiftly closing the distance between them with her long limbs. He was positive that were they to stand side by side, she would easily tower over him, maybe to the point even going on his tippy toes wouldn't overcome the difference. Oh. Now he properly understood the deal with height.
Still, Aodhan wasn't discouraged. If anything, the observation pushed him to stop his original plan of creating obstacles, and instead try moving even faster. Without a second thought, he quickly left behind his jog in favor of a full-blown sprint, which would hopefully—what the hell?
"Mmmphh!" he garbled, the sudden spray of perfume causing him to violently exhale through his nostrils. He could feel the light sting in his eyes and fresh itch in his throat, but he refused to cough, much less stop running. However, the youth's speed suffered regardless of what he could have wanted. Upon witnessing his lead get stolen right before his eyes, he was forced to admire the ravenette's quick thinking. He wasn't out yet though. Especially not after her trash talk.
Taking advantage of her focus no longer being on him, he snatched a stray pillow (and ignored the yell of "hey" that immediately followed). Then, while closing one eye, he took aim and fired at the back of her head.
Even though he was just a bit of a weakling, his precision was no joke. He hoped the toss would land and cause the girl to stumble, just enough for him to even things out between them. That being said, he continued to rush forward, rebuilding the speed he lost moments earlier.

Brother Talk with @Rachel Greenford
Casey and Rachel's conversation was like a rally at a tennis match; when one person stopped talking the other would carry on right after them and back again. The girl sitting comfortably beside him was very attentive. The people whom Casey was often surrounded with could learn a thing or two from her. He contently listened to her retell stories about her and her own siblings. It brought about a soft nostalgia within the Ilvermorny boy.
"You speak a lot about your brother. Are you two close?"
It was a yes or no question, but Casey was taking a millennium to answer. He is. He was? What do you say when your brother is missing? Casey denied for so long that his brother was dead, contrary to some other people's beliefs despite the lack of evidence to show.
In the end Casey said, "Yeah, we're close..." Though he didn't really know how to follow up on that. All the memories he had of Nick were all painfully bittersweet. All good times stained with a single tragedy. Dead or alive, it was gnawing at Casey like an ulcer - his thoughts of the past were teetering between innocence and pain.
"We've always been close... I dunno what I'd do without him."
Even right now he didn't now what to do without him.

Bonfire Night

Kyra was slumped back in the chair relaxing the best they could, while listening to the words being spoken from several students around her. None of them were directly to her, but Kyra was always curious to what people were up to, or even what they are like in general. She began to finally smell the smoke from the fire floating in their direction, which caused her to instantly wave the smell away with their right hand. It was intense and almost enough to make her cough, but thankfully the wind picked up and blew the smoke in a whole different direction that gave the young girl a sense of relief.
It didn’t take long for someone else to sneak their way into the seat next to Kyra and it seemed to her that was exactly what Mari Alves did. Maybe it was because Kyra wasn’t paying much attention to anything beside her at the moment until the sound of the girl’s voice came out of nowhere. With a faint smile, Kyra turned and nodded before responding to the introduction. ”Greetings, Mari Alves from Hogwarts. My name is Kyra Banuelos. Slytherin second year.” She introduced herself, while finally looking back towards the campfire to see if anything interesting was going on up front.
Unfortunately, their surroundings were as stale as the Kyra’s introduction, but she decided to make the best of the night, even if she had very little interest in being around other people. When she glanced back over at Mari, that was when Kyra asked a question. ”So what about you? I haven’t seen you around much, which could be a good thing depending how you look at it. Either way, how long have you been here at Hogwarts?” She asked with a caring voice. Kyra may have had a rough past, but she was gentle unless messed with and there seemed to be no problem between herself and Mari.

Ula barely had time to enjoy the sight of the boy falling behind before she heard a faint rustle from behind her. She didn’t bother to look back, confident in her lead, but then—wham! Something soft collided with the back of her head, causing her to stumble forward. The unexpected hit nearly sent her sprawling to the ground, and in the process, the perfume bottle she’d used earlier slipped from her grip, crashing to the floor and shattering on impact. The sharp scent of perfume filled the air, mixing with her growing irritation.
She couldn't believe the nerve of him. Aiming to take her down with a pillow? It was almost laughable—almost. But instead of just speeding up to the finish line, Ula felt an instinctive urge to retaliate. There was no way she was letting him get away with that. Without a second thought, she reached into her jacket pocket and felt the familiar weight of her wand.
With a sharp turn, she skidded to a stop, whipping around to face the pipsqueak. Her long legs made it easy to close the distance between them in a few quick strides. As she neared him, a dangerous glint sparked in her eyes. With a determined flick of her wrist, she pointed her wand in his direction and uttered, "Flipendo!" The Knockback Jinx shot out of her wand, aiming to knock him off his feet and give him a taste of his own medicine.
She didn't stick around to see the full effect, confident in her aim. Instead, she spun back around and bolted toward the snack bar, a smirk playing on her lips.

She couldnt help but wonder if his interest in the darker and strange wasn't just him trying to bridge a gap with her. He certainly didnt look the type but well...she knew all too well what came from judging people based on how they looked so she backed away form that train of thought.
as he talked about the music she noticed him get excited and she felt a moment of having someone to connect to about something. She loved music, though as someone who grew up in a wizarding family all of the music she knew was vastly different than from what Muggle kids grew up listening to. Her favorite instrument was actually the Violin, something she had been playing for a couple of years and was slowly getting better with it.
"Records? How did they manage to get their hands on the musicians awards?" she tilted her head some a bit confused.
with a shrug she added in her own musical addition to the conversation "My mother took me to see Máiréad Nesbitt perform once. She plays the violin and fiddle, a lot of traditional Celtic music." she offers a shrug "I am not overly big into my people's culture, but it was nice. Inspired me to start playing the violin"
While she still had a cold edge to her voice she was opening up some, and seemed less like she was eager for Aston to hurry and leave her alone. She loved music, and it wasn't often she got to talk about it.

xxx | MENTIONHe could feel the pounding that echoed from within his heart up to his skull. He could feel the way his bloodstream had been injected with adrenaline, its warmth spreading throughout his limbs and creating a tingling in his fingertips. It hadn't been that long, a measly few minutes at best, but he could see exactly how close the finish line was. Victory was in reach, and thoughts of such a reality forced Aodhan's entire being into high alert. Right there. It was just right there.
For a moment, the world disappeared. All the bodies lingering on the edge of his path, the familiar scent of perfume surging forth, the girl he was competing with—they all fell secondary to his laser focus on the goal. Yet it was this slip that provided his adversary more than enough time to recover and launch a counterattack.
He could barely register when she had turned and approached him, but his reflexes were thankfully sharp after years of roughhousing and stupid antics. It was in the same instance she shouted that they kicked into overdrive.
'Flipendo!'
Bewilderment struck his heart before he unconsciously dove forward, hitting the ground with a dull thud as his arms were used to soften the fall. A yelp had reached his ears not too soon afterwards, no doubt a bystander that had suffered in Aodhan's place. Under normal circumstances, he was sure the right thing to do would be checking on their wellbeing. However, between that and losing... He'd just hope for forgiveness.
The small boy quickly scrambled to his feet and tried regaining his momentum. With his tenacity, he promptly found himself almost directly next to the girl, but he could make out that something was slightly off. Even without Aodhan getting hit, her stunt had managed to give her an slightest edge.
So once they both reached their destination, it seemed to occur simultaneously. However, a keen eye would show that the youth was mere seconds behind his opponent, his palm slamming onto the table just a bit too late.
"Cuhvom!" he groaned, the word "c'mon" leaving his mouth in a jumbled mess.
