iNPC Creation is Now Reopened!
The iNPC Transition Project is moving onto the next stage—and with it, iNPC creation is once again open to new characters!
You may now create an iNPC if you do not already have one and have been active on your current account for at least 6 months.
Note: If you are not yet eligible but wish to participate in the trunk transition project, please keep an eye on announcements. We will be sharing an update within the next week regarding how we’ll accommodate players in that position.
For Existing iNPC Holders:
All spells have now been transferred to your new iNPC accounts. This was a manual process, so errors are possible. If you notice any spells missing:
- Please reach out to the iNPC Team so we can verify and correct this as soon as possible.
- A formal verification deadline will be announced in the future. It is expected to be a few months from now, but as always—time moves quickly, so please don’t delay.

iNPC Sub-Accounts
Signatures
Just a reminder for those who have already created an iNPC sub-account, please include your iNPC’s full account name in your PC’s signature and your PC’s full account name in your iNPC’s signature.
To update your signature, click on this link or follow the steps below:
1. Hover over your profile picture in the upper right-hand corner.
2. Click Profile then Edit Profile
3. Hover over the dropdown that has character, and click signature.
4. Edit your signature, and remember to click Submit! Otherwise your signature won't save.
Sub-Account Creation
For those who haven’t created their already approved iNPC’s sub-account or are eligible to create an iNPC now (indexed and been on their current PC for 6 months), below are the steps to create your iNPC’s sub-account:
1. Post in the iNPC Sub-account creation thread with the short application form and wait for your application to be approved.
2. Once approved, proceed to create your account.
Your character’s biography should include the form from Step 1.
You should also include information on your character, such as their personality, background and first instance of magic. You will need at least 220 words to enter the validation queue.
Note: You will not be able to use any emails previously used on HiO.
3. Your account will go through the validation process
4. Once you have been validated, you will enter the sorting ceremony. Please complete it but do not enter any common room areas, this access is temporary and unintentional.
5. If you already have an iNPC, post in your school’s registration thread with the longer application form (step 6) from the iNPC Sub-Account creation thread.
If your iNPC is new, please apply with the application form that is in your iNPC school’s registration thread.
6. After the above steps, an admin will make the necessary changes to your account and the potions/spells you listed in step 5. If your iNPC is new, the iNPC team will review your application within two weeks.
If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to a member of the iNPC team!

Encyclopedias Have Moved
Players, you will notice that the encyclopedias for the iNPC characters has moved. Their encyclopedias will now share the same forum area as PC. The reason for this is because of the core coding of the site. iNPC encyclopedias were unlinked in the profile card. This move links player encyclopedias to the profile card so encyclopedias can be quickly found.
I have moved iNPC and PC Index applications to separate forums for the time being. This is not the anticipated end format for where players will be submitting applications, but this is a familiar format for members as we continue our transition project.

Updates to iNPC Rules
- Clarifications to the application process for iNPC have been included in the application forms.
- Removed the following iNPC rules:
⦿ You MUST post a picture of your iNPC in every post with them. This picture or avatar is what you use when you are posting as them to clearly indicate that you are posting as your iNPC and not your PC. (This can be a fancy banner or just an image but something must accompany it).
⦿ Ideally, please link to your iNPC's encyclopedia in every post with them. Please note, this is not required but something we would -like- users to do.
⦿ Make it clear that the post is of your NPC rather than your PC. If your posts aren't clear at first glance (i.e. without reading the post itself) then it's not clear enough. This is why banners and/or clear statements of who is being roleplayed is so important.
⦿ If you decide to post your PC and your iNPC in one post, there needs to be two separate 200+ word sections written individually of each other. Frankly, it is easier for you and us if you keep their posts separate even if this results in a double post.- Made a minor edit to the new iNPC application form, adding a place for PC account name.
- Changed the fact that your iNPC encyclopedia should only have two posts to Your iNPC encyclopedia must have at a minimum two posts. The first, your main encyclopedia page which should follow the basic conventions of player encyclopedias in terms of content (appearance, history, personality, any aesthetics you want).
- Edited where encyclopedias should go to (the link)
- changed the following:
⦿ What Spells Can be Found in my Trunk?toAny spell your player character has, your iNPC also has access to. This does mean that prodigal players (abilities such as Prodigal Charms Learner) and restricted players (abilities such as Restricted Transfiguration Section) on the main player character account confer additional spells to the iNPC. This does not work the other way around, NPCs are not allowed to have a prodigal or restricted ability.⦿ Does my iNPC have to have a separate broom from my PC?Your character can either purchase spells in the shop or they can complete the class using our class system. we IC would assume they took a class IC in their home school but the overall material was similar.toWhatever broom you have bought and resides in your trunk can be used by both your PC and/or your iNPC (assume they each own the same model).⦿ Does my iNPC have to have separate potions from my PC?Yes, your character would have whatever broom is in their inventory, If they have no broom, they would have a 'school broom.'toWhatever potions you have brewed with your PC and reside in your trunk can be used by both your PC and/or your iNPC (assume your iNPC has brewed or received these separately). Note: as potions will be associated with your PC and therefore form a part of your main trunk, you must submit the brewing application as your PC.⦿ Can my iNPC have a pet?Yes, your PC and iNPC would have their own inventory and potions.toPresently, we do not have a pet system for iNPCs with the exception of beastmaster.⦿ What about my iNPC's wand?iNPCs can request pets using the same system PCs use.toPresently, we do not have a wand system for iNPCs so we ask that you avoid detailing anything about your iNPC's wand including length/wood/core. The exception is iNPCs that have taken the wandmaker ability, meaning they get their wand listed in their trunk and can freely discuss its details in RP.⦿ Can my iNPC have a patronus?iNPC wands are determined on creation, with the exception of players that use the wandmaker ability in which case their wand would be replaced with whatever they made with the wandmaker ability.toPresently, we do not have a patronus system for iNPCs and as such iNPCs cannot have listed patronus forms. The exception is iNPCs that have taken the Corporeal Patronus Messenger ability. When applying for the ability, please include your proposed corporeal patronus form and we will list it in your trunk. You will then be able to freely discuss the details in RP.⦿ Can my iNPC be an animagus?iNPCs can apply for a corporeal patronus - link.toPresently, we do not have an animagus system for iNPCs.iNPCs can apply for animagus - link.- Removed: iNPCs don't have access to the following abilities: Components, Prodigal Charms Learner, Prodigal Potions Learner, Prodigal DADA Learner, Prodigal Transfiguration Learner, Restricted Charms Section, Restricted Potions Section, Restricted DADA Section, Restricted Transfiguration Section

Changes to the Pet System
Also, the Pet Application Thread has been moved to the Technical Support forum.Yes, you can have a pet which serves as an NPC that you control. You must go through the system and be approved for a pet (you can see them in a player's profile) in order to have a pet with you at school. Yes, you can have pets at home without applying, but following the steps below is necessary to bring any pet to school.
To purchase a pet you need to do 6 5 things:
- You need to create a NEW thread in the Magical Menagerie tagged [Pet] with a topic title of your choice.
- You need to write a post that is at least 400 words where you pick out, find or are gifted your pet.
ReducioYou can roleplay the shop keeper in the Magical Menagerie and simply purchase the pet, the shop is simply run by an old couple with smiling faces and white hair. They are kind and funny, they are not creepy or cruel and they want each student to find the perfect animal to love. Ernest Witticker is about six feet tall with broad shoulders and a bit of a pot belly. He wears a pair of wire framed glasses and is usually seen wearing a flannel checkered shirt, a pair of blue jeans and a brimmed hat. While clean, he does not shave daily so he usually has some whiskers on his face. His wife, Anita Witticker is about a foot shorter, standing at five feet tall. Some first year students are taller than her in fact. She often wears floral dresses and smells like sugar cookies. In fact, that is because she often offers them to children as a treat if they have been well-behaved. She has short white hair that is curled and nicely styled and usually wears some make-up but nothing too noticeable, just enough to show she cares what she looks like.
While both are nice and friendly, neither of them are push-overs, nor are either of them muggles. Both of them are graduates of the Durmstrang Institute and capable wizards in their own right despite their age. If you attempt to vandalize, bully or steal a pet, they will not only notice but you will be regretting your trip to their quaint little shop for some time.- You must provide us with a WORD COUNT at the end of your post.
- You must fill out the following form and post this form at the end of your post in this thread:
Link to your RP Thread
What animal do you wish to purchase?
What do you want to name it?
Is this a boy or a girl?
What is your pet's date of birth?Code: Select all
Link to your RP Thread What animal do you wish to purchase? What do you want to name it? Is this a boy or a girl? What is your pet's date of birth?
- You must have the galleons to purchase the pet because we will be manually extracting this.
Note: the galleons you have on hand and your total worth (money and items) are different things. One if the amount of money that you have and the other (as it says directly below total worth) is the money you have on hand and the value of any items that you own. So if you own 10 galleons worth of candy from the shop and have 5 galleons, your amount on hand would be 5 galleons and your total worth would be 15.- After you have done all of this, please owl a Head of House (you can contact all of the Head of House even) so that they can give you your pet. Once they give you your pet, they will document in your thread that they have done so. [Please include a link to your thread in your owl]
F.A.Q.
Can you have more than 1 pet?
No, you can only have 1 pet.
I do not like my present pet, can I get a refund?
No, sadly your pet has now run away. You get no refunds for run away pets.
Can my pet die?
Of old age like nature intended. We are not murdering pets here, we have a site rating.
I do not like my present pet, can I get a new one?
Yes, but you have to pay the full price and complete the necessary RP. This would replace your previous pet. Again, you can only have 1 pet.
Can I give my pet away to my friend?
No.
Can I change the information on my pet. As in I have the same animal, but new name, date of birth, gender, etc.?
If you buy the pet again and do another RP, sure.
I have won a pet as part of being a Top 3 earner. What do I do now?
First and foremost, congrats! Secondly, just write out your roleplay for the pet and reach out to a HOH or myself. They will give you the pet of your choice. If you already have a pet that you bought normally, you can have this pet replace them. If you already have a pet and want to "give" this new pet prize away to a friend, just clearly communicate that with us and we will ask them to contact us when they complete their roleplay.
So I have to RP buying a pet in the shop?
No, but that is the most obvious choice. You can roleplay buying a pet in the shop, or just be here getting supplies (like food or a bowl) and just "think back" to when you really got the pet. Maybe it was a gift from your parents, it was a stray you picked up, a wild animal you tamed, etc. The only ask we have of you is that you do not describe maltreatment, neglect or abuse done to your animal because it goes against our rating and frankly we do not want to read it. Some players will RP obtaining their pet at home, in Hogsmeade, in their home country, etc. There is no wrong start, this is your story.

FAQs:Transferring To & From Hogwarts Now Available!
The iNPC team is pleased to announce that Hogwarts has finally signed the International Magical Education Exchange Accord - aka, you can finally transfer your students to and from Hogwarts! This means that from now on you will essentially be able to swap your PC and iNPC accounts so that the character you had originally created to be an iNPC can now go to Hogwarts and become your PC, while the character you had originally created as your PC can now go to an international school and become your iNPC. When you transfer accounts, this happens simultaneously (e.g. you can't have both accounts go to Hogwarts, even for a short while).
This change is separate from transferring iNPCs between international schools, which was already announced and can be read about here. Instead, this change can be read about and applied for here, in a different thread.
Reducio
Below are some frequently-asked questions that may help you with deciding if you would like to transfer to or from Hogwarts. If you have a question not found or answered below, please reach out to someone on iNPC staff to ask your clarification.
How often can I swap accounts?
You must wait until six months after the creation of your iNPC, as well as six months after your iNPC last transferred schools, if they have transferred before, to swap accounts. You are limited to three account swaps over the course of your characters' school career. This is separate from the three iNPC school swaps you also get, so if you want to swap accounts three times and transfer your iNPC to different international schools three times, you are welcome to as long as you wait six months between each.
Are there any other restrictions to when I can apply for a swap?
Yes. You cannot transfer when either of your characters is participating in an official sport event for their school, and you will need to wait until after the sport event has concluded. For example, if your PC is on a House broom racing team and you apply to swap accounts during the spring races, then you would need to wait until the race has fully concluded to transfer, and your application would be closed until then.
I want both of my students to go to the same school! Can this be done?
No. You must have a PC account (that goes to Hogwarts) and an iNPC account (that goes to an international school). You cannot have two accounts that go to Hogwarts, two accounts that go to the same international school (i.e. two students at Tenūsa), or two accounts that go to different international schools (i.e. one at Koldovstoretz and one at Durmstrang). One account must attend Hogwarts (this will be known as your PC account) and the other must attend an international school (this will be down as your iNPC account). When one account transfers in this manner, the other will swap out at the same time so that you never have two of the same kind of account.
What if I don't want to have my character move to [x country], but I want to have them move to [x school]?
The schools will not be changing their requirements to cater to you. If you want to attend Mahoutokouro, you must live in Japan. If you want to attend Castelobruxo, you must live in Central/South America (or North America/the Caribbean, by application only). You cannot live in the UK and attend Uagadou, for example; what school you attend is based on where you live, so if you do not want to change your student's residence, you cannot change their school. You must have your student move in order to state that they have transferred.
Can I bring my PC's pet with them if I transfer my old PC to an iNPC school?
Yes. Now that iNPCs have their own sub-accounts, they are able to have pets just like PC accounts, so your current PC will not have to lose their pet if they swap to being your iNPC at an international school. This is an automatic process, so you do not have to do anything extra for it.
Can I undo the transfer if I change my mind?
No. Once approved, you'll need to wait six months if you wish to swap your accounts back.
Can I immediately swap my old PC/new iNPC to a different international school if I change my mind?
No. Once approved, you'll need to wait six months if you wish to start another transfer for your new iNPC to attend a different wizarding school.
If I swap my iNPC to being my PC and bring them to Hogwarts, can I change what House they were originally sorted into on their sub-account?
No. Whatever House your iNPC was Sorted into upon creation of the sub-account is the House they will be Sorted into upon their transfer to Hogwarts. If you are unhappy with this House, either A) don't swap them to Hogwarts or B) roleplay their disappointment at not being in the House they wanted. You cannot switch Houses.
How did my old iNPC get to Hogwarts and get Sorted into a Hogwarts house if they didn't transfer in September?
If your old iNPC/new PC transferred over the summer (July-August) and would start school on Sep. 1 with the rest of the population, you are free to post in the year's Sorting thread and state that they rode the Hogwarts Express and were Sorted in front of the whole school with the new first-years. However, if your old iNPC/new PC transferred at any other point during the school year (Sep 2 through the end of June), your student would have arrived in Hogsmeade on the Mystic Pullman, where a staff member would have been waiting to pick them up and escort the student to the headmaster's office for a private Sorting. Afterwards, the student would have been taken to their new common room. This does not mean you can godmod Lear, however - if you would like to write your iNPC being sorted and mention him or any other staff member, you must reach out for permission.
If I swap my iNPC to being my PC and bring them to Hogwarts, can I automatically land my same spot on the sports team in my new House as the spot I had back in the iNPC school previously? For instance, I was a first-string Chaser back at [x school], can I be a first-string Chaser for [x House] now?
No, unless there is a spot open. The waitlists for sports will remain first-come, first-served at Hogwarts and at iNPC schools. When you transfer from an iNPC school to Hogwarts, you will have to manually go to your new House forum and sign up for whatever sport spot you want, whereupon you will be added to the waitlist and have to wait your turn. If there is a spot open, though, sure, you can go sign up immediately and be added, but it's still your responsibility to sign up for it. When you transfer from Hogwarts from an iNPC school, however, put your desired sport spot in the form and you will be put in the sport if there is a spot open (and, if not, you will be added to the waitlist; see below).
If I transfer my PC to being my iNPC and send them to an international school, can I automatically land my same spot on the sports team in my new school as the spot I had back at Hogwarts previously? For instance, I was a first-string Chaser back at Hogwarts, can I be a first-string Chaser for [x school] now?
Yes, as long as there is a spot open. The waitlists for sports will remain first-come, first-served at Hogwarts and at iNPC schools. When you transfer from Hogwarts to an iNPC school, you put your desired sport & position in the transfer form. If there is a spot open, you will be added to the iNPC school sport's roster immediately upon your transfer being approved. The process is only immediate for the Hogwarts->international pipeline; when transferring from an international->Hogwarts, you have to manually sign up for a sport waitlist yourself (see above question).
How does this work with me being in the Index/being on an iNPC school roster?
When your swap is approved, your old PC (aka your new iNPC) will automatically be removed from the Official Index and added to the iNPC school roster for your new international school. Your old iNPC (aka your new PC) will also be automatically removed from your old international school roster. However, the new PC will not be added to the Official Index automatically; this is the only bit of work you have to do yourself (other than applying to a Hogwarts sport, if desired; see above for that process). You must apply to the Official Index by yourself as your new PC and link the approved swap post in your Index application; only then will your new PC be added to the Official Index.
What do I have to do now?
Your next step, once you have been approved to swap PC/iNPCs, is simply to update your PC and iNPC to reflect their new schools (e.g. in their encyclopedia). Then you will need to go to the Index Re-Application link here and apply to have your PC be re-indexed; make sure you link to your approved swap post in your Re-Indexing application. Afterwards, you are free to RP your new PC and new iNPC as you choose!

Deadlines Approaching – iNPC Spell & Potion Transfers
Just a reminder that June 30 is the final day to submit for an iNPC and have your PC's spells and potions transferred. After this date, iNPCs will still be available for creation, but they will not receive any spells or potions from your main character. These will need to be earned through classwork or purchase moving forward.
Additionally, the temporary eligibility exception allowing users under 6 months to create an iNPC will end tomorrow. Starting July 1, the standard requirement will return: you must have been on the same account for at least 6 months to be eligible to create an iNPC.
If you plan to take advantage of these opportunities, please act now!
