Character Backstory:
Reducio
Angie was born to Freddie and Melinda Dixon on April 14, 2013. When she was born with two different colored eyes, one green and one brown, her parents knew she would be a very special girl. Freddie (a Muggle) is the local algebra teacher in their town. He fell in love with Melinda when she had to visit his classroom because pencil sharpeners were disappearing. At the time, she worked for the Ministry of Magic in the Department of Muggle Relations, but, shortly after their marriage, she was transferred to a department in the Care of Magical Creatures that involves basic issues with magical creatures (typically within magic households) where she works now.
Angie has curly red hair that is so big that it makes her shorter frame seem taller. She has a bit of an overbite that makes her front teeth seem to stand out just a little bit (not enough to be seen when her lips are closed, just when she smiles).
Angie grew up with magic and regular scholastics being encouraged in her home (although she did not discover magic for herself until the summer after she turned 11). By the time she was three, she knew all of her numbers and letters and was "reading" (really just reciting from what her parents said) books for herself. When she finally learned how to read, she would read anything that was put in front of her, even if she could not understand it. Her favorite book was Newt Scamander's Care of Magical Creatures book, as she was able to discuss it with her mother when she would go with her on some house calls.
Angie is adored by all she meets, particularly her father's students and her mother's clients, but she is very shy. She much rather likes listening to other people speak instead of speaking herself. With that being said, she loves talking to her cat Falcon (so named because of its love for catching mice and other rodents).

First Instance of Magic:

About a month before her 11th birthday, Angie went on a house call with her mother to visit an old woman who had 23 pygmy puffs. There was so much dander and dust in the house that she did not stop sneezing for 3 hours, contracting the flu, and discovering magic. Every time she sneezed, wildflowers would sprout. Her mother was thrilled (both at the presence of magic in her daughter and at the abundance of flowers in her house).

1. In your encyclopedia, your trunk has all the proper sections, but can you please make that its own post separate from your bio?

2. In your encyclopedia make sure it lists the basic information listed HERE. You can for simplicity include that above your backstory which you've already listed there.

3. Your first instance of magic must take place before your eleventh birthday. Could you edit your story to take place at an earlier time and the corresponding part of your backstory?

Angélique Dupont was born in the Bretagne region of France to a wizard family on November 1st. She had an average childhood, albeit a lonely one, as her parents worked often and she had no siblings. She lived outside of town, close to the countryside, and often explored the fields behind her house with her neighbour's older daughter, Juliette. A month after her sixth birthday, she and her parents immigrated to Ireland in the hopes of finding better employment opportunities. They stayed in Dublin for a time but settled in Ballycastle, where her mother opened a small cafe in town. Her father became a local builder and did the cafe's repairs on the weekend. To earn an odd Galleon, Angélique would do the dishes on the weekends and school holidays for pocket money. Learning English was not difficult for her because of her age when she immigrated. However, as time passed, she slowly lost some of her French, most notably the basic grammar and complicated vocabulary. Because of this, she has no French accent, unlike her parents, but she tends to get French and Irish sayings mixed up. Ireland in her home now though, and being raised in Ballycastle, she has become a massive fan of the local Quidditch team, the Ballycastle Bats, much to the disappointment of her parents, who are fans of their old local Quiberon Quafflepunchers instead.

First Instance of Magic:

Simply enough, while doing dishes at her mother’s cafe, she accidentally dropped a tray of dishes. She watched the teacups and saucers break and scatter across the kitchen floor and shut her eyes when it made a crash. When she opened them, the dishes were dried and polished, but most importantly, intact and without so much as a crack, stacked neatly on the tray back in her hands.

Reducio

Stella, born on January 3rd of 2013, was the first and likely only child by her father, Atticus, and her mother, Elena. With his affliction, her parents were unsure if they would even be able to have her. Despite her father being a vampire, her family still considers themselves purebloods, as that was her fathers status before he was turned. Because of this Stella still grew up with the normal pure-blood ideologies, even if they weren't the most accurate. Instead of thinking half-bloods and muggle-born were unworthy of magic, she believes the were less fortunate, and often looks down upon them in pity. In her mind, they needed extra help as it was impossible for them to truly excel without it. For her close family, prejudice against half-breeds was nearly non-existent, as long as any human side came from pure-blood families. Her extended family originally looked down upon half-breeds, that was until her father was turned. It took many years before either of her parent's families would accept him, but being the first born and the favorite child before the Turning had its many advantages.

Her father worked at the apothecary his family has owned for generations. Despite inheriting the store, Atticus preferred working in the back as a potioneer, selling his products and taking commissions. Her mother worked with him, growing the herbs that Atticus would use in his potions, and selling any extras. While she was sometimes manning the store, she much preferred to be elbow deep in her garden or staring up at the stars. Stella loved being inside the shop with her mother, often tidying shelves, or (trying to) make a sale. To both her parents and customers chagrin, when -or at least what she thought were- half-bloods or muggle-borns would come into the store she would sometimes offer a discount or try to explain how to use a certain ingredient, even to customers thrice her age.

Despite her genetic aversion to the sun, Stella loved being outdoors. She often wanted to help her mother tend to the garden, but when that became too much for her skin her mother would take her back out once the sun had set. To make herself more comfortable in the daytime, Stella often wore a wide brim sun hat with a mesh veil, or carried around a parasol. These, like many similar items she owned, sprung her love for gothic fashion.

Her family came from a long line of only Ravenclaws and Slytherins, in a similar fashion to gender reveals, her family had bets and celebrations on which of the two houses their children would fall into. That being said, there was a lot of pressure for Stella to fall into line. The day of the Sorting ceremony was excruciatingly nerve-wracking, however her father, a Slytherin, was beyond ecstatic when she wrote home to her parents.

Atticus' Turning and Life as a Dhampir - Atticus was still attending Hogwarts when he was turned, during the summer between his 6th and 7th year of school. His family was out on an extravagant vacation through the entire United Kingdom, traveling from Greece to Romania, through the Black Forest. It was there, in the Black Forest, that he had met the vampire on the edge of insanity from lack of blood. Atticus had come to terms with his early demise, long before the vampire even made a move to attack.
So it was to his great surprise when he woke up, instead of being in whatever afterlife was given to him, he was still there lying on the forest floor. He felt different though, there was a burning in his throat, and hunger like he's never felt before in his stomach. It took Atticus a embarrassingly long moment to realize what had happened to him, and for once he had no plans. No ideas. He had no clue what to do about this. He wasn't sure if he could ever return home to his family, not to mention Elena. Oh god, Elena. By this time he and Elena were already called 'Hogwarts sweethearts', and Atticus didn't know what would happen between the two, he didn't even know if he would be allowed to return to Hogwarts. He was afraid of how she would react to his new condition, if she would even want to see him. Thankfully for him, while at first they were apprehensive, they assisted him in finding less violent ways to satiate his hunger. He put off telling Elena for as long as he could, though he could tell she knew something was up in his letters. Try as he might, he just couldn't bring himself to tell her in fear of her rejecting him. It wasn't until she asked to meet up for beginning of the year shopping at Diagon Alley that he confessed. She took it in stride, "for a moment I was worried you found a pretty German woman to bring home," she joked, linking her arm in his and leading them down the street.

For Stella, growing up a Dhampir was all she ever known. Her extended family would give her strange looks, and she had caught a few sneers thrown her way from the grouchiest of them. This was nothing new to her, she knew that many people on her mothers side still disagree with her choice to stay with her father. However, it was hard being around certain types of people, as if she got to hungry ,which would happen with the bottomless pit of a stomach she had, her fangs would pop out. This often scared the other children, especially those whose parents told them scary stories at night to keep them in bed. For others they would notice her affliction and look at her in detest. If she was more mature she might've made the connection that the feeling she got in those moments must be the same as muggle-born's felt.
She had gotten in trouble on more than one occasion, for threating other children with a bite. She would plead in her defense each and every, "They started it!" she would argue, "they were making fun of my missing teeth, so I offered to show them what I could really do". Her father would try to hide his chuckle at his little spitfire of a daughter, while her mother would shake her head in exasperation.
Her mothers cooking made up for any unpleasant interactions in her mind. On special occasions or when she was feeling particularly down, her mother would often cook with the same blood that was given to her father. She could tell her mother didn't enjoy this, with the way her nose would scrunch, but it made Stella overjoyed every time.

Note for staff member-
as I was rereading this I realized I was unsure if a vampire could continue on as a potioneer. If needed I can readjust things so Atticus had a failed turning, resulting in a Dhampir

First Instance of Magic:

Stella's first use of accidental magic first occurred at a picnic outing. Many of Stella's extended family were attending this over the top event, ranging from aunts and uncles, cousins both younger and older, as well as family friends and their children. Stella was reluctantly sat at the children's blanket, where many of the other kids were yelling loudly and horsing around. While Stella initially enjoyed seeing all of her friends again, her social battery was quickly draining, and she was steadily getting more overwhelmed. Out of nowhere, the plants around her burst in color, and for a moment there was peace, as this captivated her and the other children. This brief moment quickly ended as her parents became aware of what happened. Immediately she was swooped up by her father. He was overjoyed that she finally showed signs of magic. She was 8 by that time, and he was starting to worry that she wouldn't ever show magic.

From the moment Karlie was born on the 30th September 2012, she was raised in Grantchester, a quiet and picturesque village just outside of Cambridge. Her home life was happy, comfortable, and filled with magical whimsy and charm thanks to her Wizard-born parents. Both intelligent and hard-working, her parents both attended Hogwarts as Ravenclaws and were able to provide a life where their children recieved what they asked for, so long as they showed grace and did not show signs of greed.

Karlie's father, Edward Keys, worked in the Department of Magical Transportation at the Ministry of Magic, whilst Catherine, her mother (with a penchant for household charms), was a homemaker and tutor, offering lessons to young witches and wizards in the local community. Karlie also lived with her younger sister, Lydia, who was outdoorsy and far more outgoing than herself, yet the two shared a deep bond.

Her mother's passion for education and magical theory influenced Karlie from a young age, filling their home with books and creative learning activities. As such, Karlie preferred the company of authors rather than girls her own age, and found it difficult interacting with other children. She did have a couple of friends who shared the same desire for academic success, and most playdates consisted of poring over texts together sat on the bank of the River Cam.

When she recieved the invitation to Hogwarts, Karlie was determined to show her parents and peers how successful she would be, yet she soon started to doubt her potential abilities with the weight of expectation she had placed on herself. As she mentally prepared herself to leave, however, she managed to quell the persistent voice in her head that instructed her to excel in everything academic, and shifted her focus into trying to improve her social confidence.

First Instance of Magic:
Reducio
When Karlie was seven, she had her first brush with accidental magic during a particularly frustrating day. While trying to read a difficult book on magical theory, she grew overwhelmed and angry after failing to understand a complicated passage. In a burst of frustration, Karlie slammed the book shut, and without warning, every other book on the shelf flew into the air, swirling around the room in a chaotic dance. Startled and terrified, Karlie froze as her room was caught in the whirlwind of floating books. Her parents rushed in, drawn by the noise, and quickly reassured her that accidental magic was common when emotions ran high. While her father found humor in the situation, her mother calmly reminded Karlie that strong feelings could lead to unexpected magic. The incident left Karlie both fascinated and wary.

Ivy Bell moved with her parents up to North Berwick, Scotland when she was eleven. She met a young girl there, Stacie Hawthorne. Stacie was her best friend, along with her cousin, Felix. The three were inseparable, always being together in school. When Ivy graduated, she went to London to attend her dream college, moving back with her parents there for a while. Stacie moved to America to attend university there. Felix stayed and attended the local college so he could take over the family business.

Ivy returned to North Berwick after she graduated, meeting up with Felix again. His parents were thinking about moving to America to be with Stacie, so Ivy offered to help out in the shop. While she was working there, she and Felix fell in love and got married. Afterwards, Felix’s parents decided to make the move to America, leaving Felix and Ivy to watch over the shop.

Belle was born in North Berwick, Scotland on May 1, 2013, to Ivy and Felix. She showed no signs of being magical, just a normal Muggle girl for the most part. There was the occasional mishap that Belle couldn’t explain, but that was normal for a kid, right? Four years later, on October 15, Belle’s two twin brothers were born. They were her opposites: loud, obnoxious, troublesome.

That was also the year Belle got her cat, named Mouse. A gray Siberian, Mouse was Belles best friend through her younger years of school, keeping her company and always listening to her, whether he wanted to or not. In third grade, Belle met Lauren, a girl like her in most ways. Her parents weren’t that rich, and they both lived on the outskirts of town. Lauren was Belles first good friend, but that didn’t last. Lauren moved away the summer before fifth grade.

It was that same summer when Belle got her letter. If Lauren had still been around, Belle wouldn’t have wanted to go as much, but seeing as her best friend was gone, she didn’t really have a reason to stay in North Berwick for school.

First Instance of Magic:

Belle was playing one of her favorites pieces on the piano one Saturday, and she thought she was alone, so she started singing along. It was then that the two menaces known as her little seven year old brothers came home from school. They had come home early because it had begun to snow outside, and the teachers worried the school might be snowed-in. Belle hadn’t been feeling well that day so she had stayed home.

When her brothers heard her, they hatched a devious plan. They each quietly filled up a glass of cold water, and snuck up behind Belle, poised and ready. Belle was completely oblivious to them being behind her, as she was lost in her own little world.

However, as they poured out the water over Belle, something odd happened. The water seemed to backfire on them, as if a shield had appeared around Belle. So, it was not Belle who was soaked to the bone, but her brothers. The former kept on playing until she decides to stop practicing, and turned to see her brothers standing behind her, freezing and wet.

Belle couldn’t help herself from laughing at their predicament, though she did help them dry off. She teased them about their awful aim for weeks after.

August 16th, 1990, could be considered both a new beginning and a beginning of an end, depending on how you took the event of Fabian Richard Fleischer's birth. He was born to people who got along about as well as oil and water and a lifestyle that went about as well as trying to mix the two. His father, Reiner Fleischer, was a wizard and a professional duellist who wasn't famous yet. His mother was a nonmagi woman who wanted nothing to do with any of that. She was an actually successful businesswoman with a rapidly growing career. Neither were willing to compromise, yet they were convinced all would be well since they were young and totally in love. Or so they thought.

The two carved out a somewhat peaceful coexistance in Hanover, he blazing his way through the duelling circuits of magical Lower Saxony, and she contentedly making bank in the city. They didn't have to interact with the other's world much at all, though Reiner was always throroughly pissed that he couldn't use his magic and tended to vocalize such. It was when she became pregnant then had their son that things really went downhill.

For four years, the relationship deteriorated further and further as they figured out their tolerant coexistence had no bearing on their disasterous coparenting, and in the spring of 1994 she moved to a different part of the country, on to bigger and better things. It was Reiner and Fabian in for the long haul.

Through his years of duelling, Reiner had developed a following. The Butcher, as he was known, caught the attention of League One duelling and was asked by Berlin's very own team to join. Reiner, ever longing for the spotlight, showman as he was, totally uprooted himself and Fabian and moved them to Berlin.

For a couple months, as Reiner gained his footing in the duelling community and rebuilt his wizarding wealth, they lived in nonmagi Spandau. Fabian found a quiet existence, mostly left to his own devices throughout the days, content to watch the birds on the powerlines or tie his blanket as a cape and pretend to fly around the house and building forts with the couch cushions. One of the neighbors worked in motorcycle manufacturing, which the young child found endlessly interesting. It was here his first great love, that of motorcycles and machines, began, pestering the neighbor for hours on end and dreaming of having his own one day.

This was a short time of his life, however, and Reiner relocated them to magical Berlin with haste. Fabian spent far too much time in the practice club for a boy his age, watching dutifully with his sharp Atlantic ocean eyes as his father blasted man after man with spell after spell and got knocked down only to get up again with that wicked red gleam in his eye and his cocky smile. This was where his second great love, that of duelling, began.

The Butcher's reputation preceded him, and he soon rose to star athlete on the team. Though able to afford all the niceties of wizarding life and one of the most lavish homes the neighborhood had to offer, he was always off somewhere doing something, gathering more attention, being the showman both on the piste and off, hungering for more thrill, more anything. And while he was by no means a good man, he was a decent enough father to realize his son needed more. Fabian needed a mother. Enter Lydia Burgstaller, nanny and tutor and overall extraordinary woman.

The change was very sudden for young Fabian, no longer left to his own devices for hours on end and having to submit to an authority. He did not like it one bit. But as kind and gentle as she was, her guiding hand was firm and her spirit unwavering. It was an adjustment to be certain, but once made was all the better for both nanny and charge.

Lydia had her own son, Diethard, and he was wonderful too. He liked sketching. He would draw Fabian pictures of motorcycles on his homework sometimes. Fabian adored Diet, was his little shadow every moment they were together. He also adored Lydia, calling her Mama in no time at all.

And as Fabian grew closer to those who were raising him, Reiner grew farther away from his son, and even from the law. While the man was a talent in every respect, his eyes were always on ways to become better, and always out for blood. He used banned spells. He defied the rules of professional duelling more times and could be excused, he even managed to get himself and illegal wand, and he was banned from the league and the industry of professional duelling when Fabian was six years old.

This simply would not do.

The underground circuit welcomed the Butcher with open arms, inviting him to a stage more tantalizing than ever before. And from there, mercenary work. But Reiner was not meant to be a quiet exterminator as a man for hire should be: he was meant to be a showman. He was known, and he was hated.

Fabian was nine when they tried to kill his father. They attacked the home, getting past the heavy enchantments and revealing Reiner's secrets by almost ending Fabian. Reiner kept them safe, but at the cost of his life as a free man. Father went to Azkaban and son was adopted by Lydia. His first instance of magic showed roughly four months later, and a few months after that he attended Durmstrang Institute for his first year of wizarding education.

Fabian’s time at Durmstrang was marked by the absence of Diethard (an unfortunate late bloomer) and Lydia most of all, and by the familiarity of his former life. He learned Russian, and as stubbornly as he tried not to, ended up defaulting to it within his first two years as he was supposed to. He held an intense dislike, pure hatred in some cases, for these authorities who had no right to tell him what to do, in his mind. They didn’t know shit about him, didn’t know what was right for him, didn’t know the fire they were playing with.

Combat magic came as a natural focus for Fabian's predicted trajectory. It allowed him to channel what he felt into a tangible effort. It allowed the unpredictable storm inside to result in consistent output of strong and dangerous magic. It made him feel better. It made him feel more in control.

As his time in Durmstrang continued, he became a more stable individual. Fabian’s life was finally stable, with a loving mother and brother to come home to after months of structured instruction and secluded safety at Durmstrang. He made close friends, he gathered mentors through his teachers, he became less of the volatile young boy emulating his volatile father coming from a volatile life, and more of the strong man those around him knew he could be. He drifted away from combat magic far before his fifth year, choosing the more interesting and challenging dark arts for his focus on his final three years. Though duelling held a bittersweet place in his hard and none could deny he was absolutely brilliant at it, being one of the best duellists on Durmstrang's team for several years, he couldn’t bear to follow in Reiner’s footsteps professionally. He wanted to use his magic in different ways than blowing people up.

Fabian graduated, moving back to his home country and searching for job opportunities in magical Berlin, found an avenue in security under a well-established ward setter, working his way up to the level of his teacher through many years. Fabian eventually surpassed his teacher, and carved his own way in the ward setter community as a talented upstart. He opened his business internationally, to Eurasia alone at first but eventually making his way into South America, Oceania, Africa, and finally landing in North America, specifically at Ilvermorny. While improving and renewing the wards around the castle and grounds, he was asked to consider taking up the role of Defense Against the Dark Arts professor, seeing as their previous one had recently stepped down. Fabian was reluctant to say the least, but the new salary was nothing to sneeze at. And well, if he didn’t like it, he’d just move on out and go back to the contractual ward setter life. He was only twenty-six, after all.

Fabian was born to teach. Perhaps Lydia’s skill with children had worn off onto him, perhaps they just shared a personality for it, or maybe Fabian liked kids more than he’d ever think. He quickly earned the respect of his coworkers for his effective teaching and natural leadership in the classroom and out. DADA professor morphed to contain Head of Wampus house after five years.

Diethard simply couldn't be more annoying, Fabian decided. They were finally true brothers and the first thing he had to do was hide Fabian's things. The younger boy tore through his room, searching under every piece of furniture, across every surface, through all available drawers, even underneath the rug for his new drawing pencils. By the end of his day-long search, they were nowhere to be found and his room looked like he'd had his own personal tornado in there.

And it was supposed to be spotless because lazy Saturdays were for cleaning.

Fabian could already hear Lydia calling his name, walking down the hall, the dread of angering her seizing him and causing him to freeze when he should've been scrambling to reverse his tornado. He ran out of his room in a foolish attempt to stop Lydia, but she quickly moved past him, only to congratulate the boy on a spotless cleaning job. When Fabian looked back into the room, it truly was spotless, even better than when he had cleaned it before. And his drawing pencils were right on his desk.

History/Background: Jada has lived quite a boring life. Her parents sheltered her, and she wasn't allowed to leave her home unless she had permission. If she got permission, she was to be accompanied by someone at all times. She was also homeschooled, so she never really had to chance to talk or meet kids her age. The only person she had was her younger sister. Most days she was in the study room reading her fantasy books which her parents hated. They wanted her to read something educational other than rubbish that taught her nothing. Later her parents would get rid of all the "rubbish" books she had but little did they know she hid most of them in her room. Soon Jada learned to go into the woods she lived by and read her books there. The woods were her favorite place. They were calming and quiet and nobody could bother her. Soon her 11th birthday came around and her parents allowed her to choose one gift. She knew what she wanted for a long time. " I want to go to Hogwarts" that is what she wanted for her birthday. Her parents didn't like the idea and wanted to keep her homeschooled, but she kept pestering them. Finally, her parents agreed and told her they wanted her in Slytherin or Gryffindor. Her father was from Slytherin, and her mother was from Gryffindor. They saw the other houses as useless and wouldn't like the idea if their daughter was in a "useless house". It was mostly her father who saw them useless but for some reason her mother always agreed with her father. Soon enough Jada was on her way to Hogwarts awaiting the journeys the next few years would take her. First Instance of Magic: A few months before Jada's 11th birthday she tried to reach a book on the top shelf but was too short to reach it. She started to get frustrated and getting angry. Then suddenly all the books on the shelf started falling on her and it didn't stop until every book in the study room was on her. After that she looked for a ladder or found someone else to get the book for her.

Link to your encyclopedia thread: Click

Name of Ability or Race/Talent that you Are Applying for: Seer

Describe why this fits your character:

Ivy Warren has always been a bit peculiar, from the way she dresses, in an earthy bohemian-style fashion, to her love of talking to animals and trees, though they needn't respond. If she were a muggle, her goal would be to bridge the gap in communicating with animals, however that is nary the case.

Ivy's grandmother never knew if Ivy would be magical or not, given that her own daughter was not magical, though she had left behind some, let's say, artifacts should her bloodline ever produce a magical child... four items: A Quartz ball, a tarot deck, a pendulum, and a set of scrying runes.

Ivy's grandmother also liked to use her own divination skills for her gambling affliction, had had used them to find out about Ivy's mother's suitor and his true intentions, although she could not reveal anything due to her requirement of keeping the wizarding world a secret to her family.

When Ivy's grandmother noticed Ivy's strong intuition, she often encouraged Ivy to think beyond what her senses could tell her. She felt strongly that Ivy might just be a squib with divination talents, seer or not. Her husband also helped Ivy to develop her intuition by trying to instill in her a deep sense of morals, values, and empathy.

Although Ivy's grandparents passed away, it's almost as if their spirits continue to guide poor, confused Ivy through the tumult of being ripped from her old life in the States and her new, different, but not bad, life in the United Kingdom. Then eventually, Ivy was being ripped from that life to join a world that she knew nothing about. Yet it still felt like Grandma and Grandpa were still there guiding her in their own ways.

When it was determined that Ivy would be attending Hogwarts, these artifacts were given to her through a magical beneficiary-team, though they look mundane and muggle-witch like rather than belonging at an institution of magic such as Hogwarts. Still, as a treasured gift from her late grandmother, she would bring these items to Hogwarts with her, and eventually discover she has a knack for divination. Not only that, but she finds the study of interpreting signs and symbols fascinating and exciting; like putting together a puzzle with new information and pieces constantly unfolding.

Ivy was proving to have a strong intuition and a knack for using it, especially around animals. People would have thought she could communicate telepathically with them, though that's a bit too mad, isn't it? Still, it was almost as if she could sense danger nearby, such as whether a dog is acting more out of fear or out of rage... without spending much time analyzing the body language. She could just sense in her gut if something felt wrong or right, regardless. And she uses her intuition often, trying to discern her best move in her life such as in how she can make the best decisions of the least evil, or in what feels like the correct thing to do in a particular situation.

Character Backstory:
Reducio
Lineage:

Ivy's Maternal Grandmother was a pure blooded witch from a rather well-known magical wood supplying farm, disguised as an apple orchard, who gave up her magical life to marry a muggle man. This coupling had Ivy's mother, who, in turn, ended up being a squib. Ivy's mother was eventually courted by a pure blood dark wizard after Ivy's grandmother's inheritance, but he abandoned Ivy's mother when she became pregnant, refusing to start a family with a 'filthy squib'. Ivy's mother never married, causing her to have her mother's maiden name: Warren.

Thus, Ivy's grandmother was the only one in her family who knew anything about the wizarding world. Ivy's grandmother also knew the details about Ivy's biological father. However, Ivy's grandmother passed away in 2021, as did her grandfather shortly after due to a broken heart, leaving her in the arms of her squib mother who knew nothing about the wizarding world.

Ivy does not know the truth about her lineage and is thought to be Muggleborn.

---------------------------------------

Family:

-Maternal Grandmother:

Ivy's grandmother was an impulsive, spicy woman with a kind heart who loved to give presents, but didn't always make the best choices when it came to how often she went gambling. Even through her flaws, she still put Ivy high on the list of importance, and her and her husband tried to make it work, and stayed together through thick and thin as they vowed.

Ivy's grandmother had a single non-magical child, so her husband never found out about her ancestry, and neither did her daughter.

-Maternal Grandfather

Ivy's grandfather, on the other hand, was a tall and strong, yet gentle and tenderhearted muggle. He always made time for Ivy, even when he didn't have it, and helped greatly in her emotional development. He would read her stories on his lap and loved to give her hugs. He also made the best food, having been in the US Army and cooking there. He knew how to make the most out of very little, not that their family wanted for much of anything. Yet they lived fairly frugally. He taught her how to love and to empathize, even when it came to strangers, though half of the things he did, such as stopping at the the side of the road to help someone struggling with car problems, he warned her not to do as it was too easy for her to get hurt nowadays. But other things, like donating financially to the poppy fund and Salvation Army or offering free labor to the animal shelter alongside him, he encouraged.

-Ivy's Biological Father

Ivy's Biological Father is a pure blooded dark wizard that was a blood supremacist. He tried charming Ivy's mother in order to be welcomed into the family, with plans to poison Ivy's grandmother and obtain the inheritance, leaving Ivy's mom high and dry. However, he became frightened and disgusted once he found out Ivy's mom was pregnant by him and he abandoned the family, not wanting to start a family with a 'flithy squib'. He disappeared without much of a trace.

-Ivy's Mother

Ivy's Mother was a squib raised as a muggle so that the wizarding world never had to be revealed to the rest of the family. Ivy's mother was also absent in the beginnings of Ivy's life so that she could obtain a college degree and give Ivy a better life when the time came. Therefore, Ivy's maternal grandparents raised her solely until the age of seven when her mom started to become more involved In her life. Ivy's grandparent's passed away some time after she turned eight.

-Ivy's Stepfather

After Ivy's maternal grandparents passed away when she was eight, her mom packed her up and moved her to England, where her mom married a kind gentleman who accepted Ivy as his own. Even though things were awkward, the man tried his best, and that was enough, though nobody could compete with her grandfather in her heart as a male parental figure.

-Ivy's Younger Sister

Ivy's younger sister is dear to her, though just a toddler. She was the catalyst that caused Ivy's first unintentional use of magic. Ivy was ten years old at the time and her little sister was crying and screaming for her pacifier. Ivy went to cover her ears, which unintentionally caused every pipe in the house to burst at once. Thankfully the house was insured and her family didn't have to pay much out of pocket, however, Ivy still feels very guilty about this incident. She is very thankful that nobody was injured, though her sister did get sick from the wetness and dampness.

--------------------------

-Greatest Fear

Ivy's greatest fear is dying and being forgotten, though if we are talking physical fears, dementors will unfortunately take the top of that list as she grows and learns about them at Hogwarts.

---------------------------

-Greatest Strength

Ivy has many strengths: perseverance, astuteness, ambition, kindness, integrity, forgiveness, and protectiveness. Oddly enough, her biggest strength is to be able to assess outcomes of her choices and try to choose the one of the lesser evil. Though sometimes her choice might not be the greatest, it's our mistakes that help us to grow, not our victories.

---------------------------

Ivy's Story:

[Pre- RP]

Ivy received her Hogwarts letter the year following the incident in which she burst all the water pipes in her family's small cottage in Langseborough, in the Northern part of the United Kingdom. Though, it came as no shock, given several instances of shattering glass when Ivy became scared, it did bring unease about the remaining family members to whom the wizarding world was unknown. Not only were things heavy and awkward between everyone, but the air was also filled with fear and ignorance. Her parents tried their best to be supportive, but also held heavy religious beliefs that felt wrongly about such things.

Still, Ivy received support, even if it faltered occasionally, as her parents knew she didn't ask for this, nor did she have a choice in the matter, though it did make them uncomfortable, especially wondering if their other child could possibly be magical as well and what that could mean for the family and the beliefs they were raised to uphold.

Ivy's grandmother left in her will, to be delivered should there be a magical relative born down the line, some mundane looking items that only a true wizard could use, things that were disguised as muggle divination tools, but could only be properly used when taught in wizarding school.

Ivy was given these items as a qualifying magical beneficiary, as the courier traveled alongside the professor with her Hogwarts letter. Ivy would bring these things to Hogwarts with her to investigate them... There were four items: A Quartz ball, a tarot deck, a pendulum, and runes for casting. They look like ordinary muggle items and act like them until she can be taught to use them.

[All Aboard! Platform 9 3/4]

Ivy's parents dropped her off at the train station, but her younger sister was ill, so they left before Ivy figured out how to board. It was a tearful and heartfelt goodbye, leaving Ivy a bit frazzled and overwhelmed, wishing she had someone magical in her family to help her.

Ivy boards the Hogwarts Express, inadvertently stumbling onto platform 9 3/4. She finally finds a compartment to rest in and befriends another young witch!

[Sorting Ceremony!]

Ivy Warren meets the Headmaster and is sorted into house HufflePuff!

Esmeralda 'Esme' Fernandez was born on October 14, 1980, in Caleta Tortel, Chile to Pedro and Catalina Fernandez. Pedro Fernandez is a muggle carpenter. In his youth, he specialized in making furniture and other wooden household items, now spending his time carving wooden figurines and toys. Catalina Fernandez is a muggle-born witch, who previously worked as a Botanist but now spends her days babysitting.

The beginning of Esmeralda's life was rather uneventful. Before she began attending muggle school, most of her days were spent at home or exploring the surrounding area with her family while her parents worked. She was taught and excelled at swimming, as well as the beginning of her love for sports.

Being a muggle, her father did not know much about the magic world, only what her mother had taught him over the years. It was difficult for him to understand that magic was real and it still surprised him all these years later. Esmeralda's mother on the other hand was a muggle-born who never fully transitioned into living in the magical world. She preferred to stick to her muggle roots and not use magic unless necessary.

Esme was a smart girl, but muggle school was not something that interested her. While she enjoyed the learning and the teachers were nice, she wanted to learn more about the magical side of her life. Her mother never really talked about doing magic when she was a child, so Esme was always in awe when her mother did something with her magic. It was no surprise that both Fernandez children were invited to attend Castelobruxo and Esmeralda could not have been any more excited for it. At this time the family moved to Santiago, Chile so it would be easier to hide the fact the children were not around as often, as well as for better work opportunities.

Esmeralda greatly enjoyed her years of attending Castelobruxo, telling many that it was one of the best things to ever happen to her. She thrived in the wizarding world, and while she enjoyed muggle life she enjoyed the wizarding world even more. Learning about her magical abilities was something she had dreamed about often and that dream was finally coming true.

Esme quickly began to love Castelobruxo, having met her best friend, Anthony, rather quickly. While neither one of them was the greatest at schooling, they did both discover a love for Quidditch and did everything they could to play at every opportunity. They bonded over being raised in a muggle society (Anthony was a muggle-born) and their competitiveness.

In her 6th year at Castelobruxo, Esmeralda began tutoring the younger students in her free time. While she was hesitant at first, the girl quickly discovered that she rather enjoyed teaching and began helping more students when she had the time. Her final few months at the school were when she made the decision that she wanted to teach after graduating from the magical school.

After graduation, Esme moved back to Caleta Tortel and began traveling around South America. She became a private teacher for magical children who were unable to attend Castelobruxo or other wizarding schools for whatever reason. She never asked any questions unless necessary and thought of all of her students as equals no matter what their backgrounds were. During holiday breaks, she also tutored other wizarding students who may have needed extra help to pass their exams while they were away at school.

In 2008, Esmeralda began working for the magical government of Chile. She worked in the muggle relations department, especially with muggle-born wizards and their families. Through the few years she worked there, she missed teaching though. In 2015 Esme left her government job and took a position at Castelobruxo, teaching Muggle Studies. While Esme did not live as much of a non-magical life as she had in her childhood, it was not difficult for her to teach the class.

First Instance of Magic:
Reducio
Esme's first instance of magic occurred when she was eight years old. It was not uncommon for the Fernandez children to play along the river and docks while not busy with chores and that sunny day was no different. While their parents were preparing for an event, Matias and Esmeralda were racing along the wooden pathways and docks wearing some of their best clothes. The pair knew they were given specific instructions to keep their clothes clean, as there was no time to clean and dry the clothes before they left.

While running along an older section of the docks, Matias was not paying attention to how hard he was pushing his younger sister around. The young girl was suddenly falling over the edge and into the murky water of the river's edge. Esme was okay, having been taught how to swim from a young age, and was capable of swimming to the river bank to pull herself out of the water. Both children were rather surprised when Esme pulled herself out of the water. While water dripped down her face from her hair, her clothes were completely dry.

The children quickly took off running back to their house, both attempting to make it back first to tell their parents about Esme's first instance of magic. While both parents were very happy for the young girl, their mother was not impressed they had almost ruined their clothes.
