Hip-Hip Hooray Hogwarts! Olympic Support Errand Hogwarts Students Only

Aly Salinger was the first one to the Great Hall, out of a deep-rooted sense of House and school pride but also out of journalistic curiosity. Aly would be in attendance at Koldovstoretz, but likely wasn't going to participate in any of the events; no, she was going to collect interviews and photographs and newsworthy stories to bring back to the Hogwarts Headliner. She had already managed to get one written interview out of the hosting Director of Studies, Koldovstoretz's own @Aulis Vorozheykin, and put the interview in the December issue of the Headliner - but surely actually being in the wintry slopes of Russia would allow her even better opportunities for journalism. Plus, that way she could cheer on her mates without worrying about missing out on any of their sports - or, worse, competing against them.

She took a few poster boards and some blue paint from the front of the Great Hall, then sat down to make a few different signs. For instance, she wrote GO DEE GO! in big navy letters on one, referencing her best mate @Dealla Prince (whom she was sure would be participating in one of the sports... Dee had never met a challenge she didn't want to face head-on). A few others reading LET'S GO PERI! (for @Pericles Dralt) and EVE ROCKS! (for @Evelynn Decipio) were painted with ease, though Aly wasn't exactly sure if either Eve or Peri would be attending or participating in the International Magical Olympic Games - still, it would pay to be prepared in case they did. Aly briefly considered writing signs for @Kavi Kattimani, the handsome ex-pen-pal she'd just recently met during her visit to Tenūsa earlier in the month, or @Manu Macedo, her longtime international friend from Castelobruxo, but ultimately decided against it. After all, this bannermaking event was for her school, not theirs. If they wanted to attend and compete, they'd just have to deal with Aly rooting against them for once!

A finishing touch to the big three banners involved Aly's wand. She pulled the aspen stick from the long, thin inner pocket of her cardigan, then tapped it to each of the posters in turn and said with the confidence of someone who had used this spell before, "Cololumina!" The posters' painted letters began to flash different colours, from red to yellow to green, therefore cementing their beauty as Hogwarts-themed cheering supplies. Aly grinned - Perfect! - then left the posters to dry on the front of the Ravenclaw table, and began to roam around the Great Hall, looking at some of the other students' ideas coming to life and ready to assist if anyone needed an elder year to cast a cool charm on their poster.

Maisie would never turn down the opportunity to make a banner. And yet, this seemed somehow bigger than all the ones she'd made for Avis or Mylo. That was probably because it was for an international Olympic event. Honestly, she didn't even know the magical world had an equivalent for the Olympics, which her gran enjoyed watching every four years even if Scotland did not have the team they deserved. But this was different; Hogwarts would be in attendance so perhaps some of her friends would compete! And she had to ensure they would feel as supported as possible when they looked out into the stands.

So, Maisie arrived in the Great Hall with her sewing kit in hand, ready to tackle the task. Ahead of her, she'd spot an older Ravenclaw she knew by now as Aly Salinger, Captain of the Ravenclaw Quidditch Team, and from the few instances where they'd over-laped, she seemed a deeply capable witch. Perhaps she held some creativity too. Maisie would offer her a smile and a wave as she found a place to sit and set up shop as only she could.

The first thing she did was make a pattern. It was common, a shield like shape, just bigger. Then she laid out some black fabric across the table to serve as a base. Since it was likely all four houses would be represented, it felt appropriate to have a background that was kind of non-committal and could support any Hogwarts champion. Still, she did have other fabric and ribbons in the classic red, green, blue and yellow that she could pull out as necessary once she got to lettering and embellishments.

But starting at the beginning, she pinned the pattern in place and once she was satisfied, she began to cut. The scissors moved smoothly across the fabric as she cut her first banner. (Perhaps something as grand as the Olympics would need multiple.) When she was finished, she placed both the black fabric and the pattern to one side for now. Then, she started to pattern out the letters that spelt 'HOGWARTS.' There would probably also be a 'GO' somewhere or something, but she hadn't quite decided yet. But the school name would certainly be in there. There would probably be animals from the houses too. Perhaps she should have sketched this first. Oh, well, enthusiasm would carry her forward as she worked.

If she had to be honest, she didn’t follow the muggle version all that well. She was far from an ardent fan, but knew enough to know the end result. Yet, the magical version piqued her interest, so she would definitely make sure she attended. And maybe even compete … if she made up her mind. Now was not for that, however. She needed to focus on the task at hand … Kaitlyn skipped into the Great Hall to work on a poster for the magical games. Her heels gracefully tapped against the ground as she entered. She spotted an older girl and immediately recognized the younger Ravenclaw as Maisie. A kind and polite smile crossed her lips. “Hi,” she greeted both girls, giving Maisie an additional wave. The fourteen-year-old turned her attention to the supplies. Her eyes flicked to the table with the snacks, and she quietly giggled. ‘Those will have to wait for now … maybe afterwards.’ Taking a poster and paint, Kaitlyn skipped to the Slytherin table and laid out her supplies. In an unladylike fashion, she leaned over the table and sketched out the word ‘Hogwarts’ in giant bubble letters. Then she painted them … using Green, Red, Yellow, and Blue to denote the four Hogwarts houses. After all, there should be unity when trying to win against the students in other schools from around the world. At least, that was how she saw it. A twinkle passed her eyes as Kaitlyn rose, obtained some glitter from the supply area, and spread it out over her painted Hogwarts work so far. Her choice was careful, not to overburden the poster with too much sparkle. Yet, enough to make a statement. Taking a quill, she opted for some poetry … written in green ink … she was a Slytherin, after all! Her handwriting was neat and in script, while her movements were very careful. ‘We will be the best, As we are put to the test, To work through our quest, And win this contest.’ Underneath her poetic words, she even sketched the Hogwarts crest. This was by far harder to do than the Hogwarts from before. If anything, it required her to concentrate and force herself to remember the shining crest that described their very school. Slow and methodical, she was able to recreate the crest on the poster. Then came the fun part … coloring it in. A quiet hum escaped her lips as she colored in the Hogwarts crest, adding shadows to her work. Word Count: 440 words

Jada learned about the International Magical Olympic Games when she’d read a notice, in the Slytherin common room. She’d been hurrying down to breakfast, it being one of the few times where she overslept, when the sound of rustling paper. Turning, she found a leaflet on the floor announcing a banner making competition for the games. Now, a week later, they had opened up the great hall where one could go and make their banners.

Art wasn’t usually Jada’s ‘thing’ but everyone else seemed to be making one. Naturally she trailed behind them as they made their way to the hall, not wanting to be left out. What am I even gonna put on the banner? she thought to herself with a sigh. I guess I can just see what the others are doing and let myself be inspired…

Her jaw dropped as she set foot into the great hall. The long tables had been pushed slightly to the side to allow space in the center of the room for bigger banners, the tables themselves were decked with all sorts of materials. Normal paper, Colour paper, stickers, glitter. Anything you could dream of that was related to making banners. The room was already filled with students, glueing, sketching and painting.

She walked over to the closest of the four tables, examining what lay on it before picking out a piece of A3 paper. It’s colour, somewhere between beige and yellow, could be made to look like parchment paper and serve as a background. She grabbed a box of colour pencils and watercolour paints before settling down near the edge of the room. The next twenty minutes were spent making the paper look aged and old with a couple fake rips on its edges. Then, the background was complete.

What on earth should I write on it?

She glanced over at the boy next to her, he’d written encouragement to the players on the team. She didn’t know any of there players well enough to name them herself, but she could write words of encouragement in general. Perhaps something simple like ‘Go Hogwarts’ or ‘You got this’. Hmm… she thought, it didn’t seem quite right yet.

‘Hogwarts for the Win!’ It was short and sweet, but conveyed a message applicable to everyone participating. It was perfect!

She grabbed thick markers in a darker reddish-brown colour and began writing in a sharp, vintage-y font as she’d seen others do around her. Once finished, she added a few more decorations, few sparkles here and there and some doodles, as well as the four animals representing the Hogwarts houses together above and below the message.

She stood up, admiring her work. Not bad she thought to herself, maybe she was more art-y than she’d expected.

His first activety for Hogwart!

When Eban first heard about it, people could come down to the great hall to be creative and make some banners for the Olympics. He couldn't say no to that and he had to double check the board in the Hufflepuff common room to confirm it was the right date to actually come down to be creative and it was the right date.
So Eban couldn't wait to make a banner for his own school, he had this cool and bright idea over how the banner should look like when he was in the common room.
He was actually doing his homework when he got the idea of how the banner should look like. So he almost ran out from Hufflepuff commonrooms to the great hall, ‘where some of the students probably were to make banners’ he thought to himself. He finally entered the great hall and he was right about something that there were students making banners.. He looked around to see where things were, so he walked over and grabbed some supplies and a big banner and placed himself where it was open for making his version of the banner he had in mind. But when he sat down, he forgot his own ideas for what he was about to paint. Of course he had to forget it now when he sat down!! Damn it, he had all his ideas and plans for this banner, and now at all places his ideas just apparently flew away from his mind, and out of the damn window.

He just stared out in nothingness and spaced out, in hope of some of his ideas coming back to him. He probably should have taken his homework with him so maybe his ideas could come back, but of course he had to forget his homework in the common room. He was too excited to make banners so he left all his homework open for everyone to see. This was so annoying probably should have gone back to the common room for cleaning up his mess there too after this hobby time.
So he finally got one idea that he started with GO HOGWARTS GO!!!! with big bold letters in an upward bow like a rainbow color. He got so frustrated over that he had to forget how this banner was gonna look like, but he is glad he got himself started at least with some words down. But he thought. Why not add some colors? Maybe add the crest for Hogwarts right in the middle under the word Hogwarts. And in each corner he had each Hogwarts house crest. At the left top corner was Slytherin house crest, on the right top corner is Hufflepuff, then in the bottom left was Gryffindor and bottom right was Ravenclaw. He was thinking about that for a while before actually painting it down. Why not put some wavy lines and dots between the house crests? He thought for a while how the rest should look like.

Now when he is thinking about it, he should indeed sketch out his ideas before he forgets things for next time so he wouldn't forget like what just happened when he sat down. He loves to be creative when he can, even though his art probably isn't the best for his young mind and body, he was still young. But he wanted so badly to show his support for his own school when he could.
Oh he got other ideas, he came up with some motivational words like ‘Hogwarts has the best team’ or ‘you can do this’ and ‘we believe in you guys’ with some brooms and quidditch stuff and flowers. And ofcourse It needs some sparkles on it. He wrote down more Motivational words on it before he felt he was done for the day. and also not to overdo it at all. He felt like he didn’t underdo it this time, but if he knows himself right, when he gets back to the common room he would probably remember what he was supposed to make, but that would probably be too late for him to make? right Or is it like he could make as many as he could? He didn't know, but he was too afraid to ask anyways, if he remembered in the end how it should look like. But that is something he could worry about in the future, he could at least draw it down if he suddenly remembered, this time he doesn't care if it was in the middle of the night, he would probably forget if he fell asleep thinking he could remember it when he woke up again. In his classes he should probably be more respectful toward the teachers instead, even so he probably would have cladding drawings on the papers anyways, without the care in his mind.
He sat in the great hall for a while to see what everyone else was making, and walked around and probably getting inspiration for the next time he would draw something. He went back to the common room to clean up his mess before getting back down to watch others being creative. Maybe he could make another later on if he could of course, or had the idea to do something.

When chatter in the corridors about some kind of event on in the Great Hall reached Valour, they decided whatever dry reading they were doing could wait. By the time they'd arrived, the room was alive with dozens of students hoarding all sorts of crafts supplies over to tables and shoveling snacks into their mouths. It was all quite a messy affair; Val rolled the sleeves of their jumper up to their elbows and joined the fray.

The International Magical Olympic Games had almost entirely gone over the witch's head. As much as they had a knack for sport, it wasn't something they particularly cared much about. The prospect of watching someone else play didn't really excite the imagination, especially if you were of the opinion that you could play better. Of course, Valour wasn't naive enough to think they'd qualify for the IMOG at their age, but still, the point stood. What was fascinating however was the excitement of the people around them. Many were there to support their classmates and friends. Valour resolved to try and get into the spirit.

They found themself a large roll of parchment paper, found an empty spot on the one of the long-stretching tables and unfurled it in front of her. Many had taken to working in groups for their projects, but when it came to the arts, Valour was quite the solitary animal. They were selfish with their creative visions, from soloist instruments to solo figure skating. Drawing was no different, although they certainly weren't anything special at it. They retrieved some gold and red paint and started to map out the words 'GO HOGS' in big serif capitals. At least they were half decent at calligraphy. Seeing other students drawing their house mascots, Val began to wonder how else to decorate the banner. They weren't even going to try drawing each animal on the crest. Poking their tongue into their cheek, a silly idea crossed their mind.

After some careful sketching from memory, Valour eventually committed paint to paper. They garnished their parchment with a colourful, regal frame of stars and swirls, and outlined their bubble writing in with fine black linework. The cherry on the cake was the four little pigs ('hogs') on each corner of the poster, wearing little Hogwarts robes in each house colour. They were absolutely darling, looking so well-behaved in their little outfits. Valour privately thought to themself that the school really should make more use of pigs as their main mascot.

They added their final touches, sprinkling iridescent glitter over the wet paint and gluing gems wherever they could justify sticking them, all the while helping themself to some of the cornish pastries set out on the tables. It wasn't much, but it was Valour's masterpiece. She proudly signed the back of it with her name and her handprint before setting it to the side to dry. Maybe this year she would actually watch the IMOG, if not for the sports, then to simply show off her banner.

Harumi went to the great hall with another girl, both of them wanted to encourage their school's athletes who are joining, they planned to make one big banner for hogwarts, as well as four medium sized ones for Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, Slytherin and Gryffindor.

The two girls sat down and started drawing, Harumi's friend was good at painting and drawing, so she took the drawing part, Harumi's writing was nice, if she wanted it to be, and she was decent at calligraphy, so obviously she took the writing part.

In the top left corner of the biggest banner, Harumi's friend drew the Hogwarts crest, in the middle of the page Harumi decided to write some encouraging phrase finally she decided and wrote in gold,

"When Hogwarts roars, the lion cowers, don't try 'cause the win is ours!"

Her friend had started decorating the banner when Harumi was finished, Harumi Then decided to write "Hogwarts" next to the crest, she wrote the first letter of each house in their color, the H was yellow for Hufflepuff, the G was red for Gryffindor, the R was blue for Ravenclaw, and the S green for Slytherin.

Soon they started on the Hufflepuff banner, Harumi's friend started drawing the Hufflepuff crest in the top left corner and a laying badger in the bottom left corner, Harumi then started to think about some encouraging phrase to write, she wanted it to represent Hufflepuff, finally she decided to write the following,

"Go on badgers! Don't be ashamed! Win Hogwarts every game!"

she wrote it in black because it's one of Hufflepuff's colours, and of course she wrote "Hufflepuff" near the crest in yellow.

After finishing Hufflepuff's banner they started on Gryffindor's, they did pretty much the same, Gryffindor's crest in the top left corner, and a roaring lion in the bottom right corner, the encouraging phrase they decided upon was,

"O kings of the jungle, prove yourselves worthy, win the prize, and let us thrive!"

written in gold, Harumi thought it conveyed bravery to the reader, and near Gryffindor's crest she wrote "Gryffindor" in red

Next, it was Ravenclaw's banner turn, Harumi wanted to convey the fact that Ravenclaw will win because of strategy not strength so she decided upon writing,

"The eagles in blue came to win, with brain not brawn, they'll bring us the win"

written in blue for Ravenclaw obviously, and near Ravenclaw's crest, that her friend had just finished drawing, she wrote "Ravenclaw" in bronze, her friend had also drawn a flying eagle on the right of the banner.

Finally, it was Slytherin's turn, Harumi wanted the encouraging phrase to sound ambitious but not malicious, her friend began drawing the crest, while Harumi kept thinking she thought that she could add in snakes as long as she made it about ambition rather than malice, so she wrote

"go on snakes, don't waver, prove your ambition and win the medal"

written in silver, near the crest she wrote "Slytherin", her friend finished drawing a snake that slithered on the edges of the paper.

The two girls rolled the five banners they made and put them together to give them to the students who were going to the Olympics, both of them haven't decided whether to go or not yet so they'll give it to someone who was surely going, the two girls were satisfied with the banners, so they can rest peacefully now.
