Broom Racing HUFFLEPUFF vs. SLYTHERIN - WINTER 2024

Her second race. As long as this one ended with her conscious, she would call it a win, and with a new snake in the team maybe she wouldn’t be the target. She wouldn’t be the target of the other team, at least. With @Colin McCoire on her team, the race could be completely unpredictable for her.

She took her position at the starting line, her Nimbus 1700 gleaming and a new compass attached. The only thing she had to offer was a reassuring smile to the new snake, and a nod to her captains. Nothing else for her teammates, especially the one she liked to pretend didn’t exist.

Description: Fast and tough racing broom. Stats: +2 accuracy, +1 evasion, +1 wisdom, +1 strength
Speed: Top Speed is 6, however when you reach a speed of 6 this increases to a 10% chance that you will auto miss (with anything requiring an accuracy roll) and you will be auto-hit (with anything requiring a dodge roll).

Colin loped out onto the starting area. Surely the last to arrive, Colin was simply modelling the mantra that a wizard is never late. He arrives precisely when he means to! And that moment was now!

He knew his best friend was now flying for Huffinstufflepowderpuff. He smirked as he looked over the opposition. Her golden hair and bright eyes, looking his way, melted the smirk into a smile! "Fyre Angel! You're going down mate!" he cried over to her with an excited laugh! But it wouldn't be him that brought his dear Angel Fyre down; rather his glance settled on George. Mr Blindfold himself! Colin recalled (not unkindly) the beautiful scarf that George had blindfolded him with during his first race. Colin determined that he would be tracking him this time! Had to keep him from causing too much trouble!

June had been late to the race, arriving just before they lined up.

June was late to the get on her broom, too out of sorts to realize what was happening.

And perhaps it was the messy mop of brown hair she saw in the spectator stands that made her late to actually leaving the starting line.

Whatever it was, June was late. And so is this post.

----Ah, waterfall. They meet once again. Vale pulled up from over the water, looking around with a befuddled expression. It seems every race, she is guaranteed to be getting a mandatory bath. But she didn't appear bothered by this realization, hearing a plop near her and turning to see if it was a fellow Slytherin.

Oh.

Vale immediately went to doggy paddling around the water, searching for her broom in the extremely cold water with a smile on her face. "Oh boy! Hypothermia! The fourth, best way to kick the bucket if I say so myself! Drowning is third, can't beat that bronze medal." Wait a minute, where was June? She didn't get murdered on the way to the race, did she? Poor timing really, should've scheduled that for after the race. Common mistake when it comes to being murdered and all.

With all the commotion happening in the spectator stands, how could someone blame June from being distracted? Was that… was that smoke?

The sound of her co-captain cursing water brought June back to reality. Crap, it had started already?

Forget whatever was happening over there, forget whoever was or was not watching, forget the murmurs she had heard about her efficacy as a captain. Right now, it was racing time.

Or getting hit in the face with a rock time.

Some races began smoother than others and this one hadn't been his best beginning, but the race was FAR from over! There was still strong winds and so many other obstacles to face that it was too soon to project who would come out as the winner on this snowy day.

Hopefully luck would come to the badgers!

Wyatt breathed a curse as a couple spells and projectiles passed him by, some aimed at him, others not. Out of the corner of his eye, Wyatt could see June finally arrive at the starting line only to get pelted with objects Wyatt couldn't make out. The spell that targeted him was straight up arrows. The Slytherin winced, remembering a time when that very same spell knocked him out and sent him to the hospital wing. This time, it didn't hit him. Bless.
