RPing as Zophyr Qethnis from Uagadou Genderfluid, pronouns at the moment: they/them☽ Kirundi | French | English | Swahili | Arabic | Tswana | Xhosa ☾Zophyr wasn't really expecting much when they'd decided to walk up to this person. They'd found them... well, magnificent, and they were in the mood to talk to someone, perhaps even flirt a little. But as it turned out, only a few words and the boy was already blushing. Cute, Zophyr couldn't help but think, and it was true, obviously.

It took him a moment to even realize Zophyr was waiting for an answer as he stared at them. But when he finally did decide to answer, it was not at all in the was the Uagadou student was expecting.
The boy pulled a packet of... cards? out of his pocket, before flipping through them and then showing them to Zophyr. The cards he'd chosen said 'Hello, my name is Ren Willow-Saito (pronouns he/him) and I’m mute' and 'I go to Mahoutokoro', in English and a language Zophyr did not know (but was probably Japanese, considering he went to Mahoutokoro). They were also decorated with a few doodles, which Zophyr again found adorable.
Though they tried not to show it, though, they were rather surprised. They had never met anyone who was mute before. They knew a couple of blind or deaf people, and some with mental disabilities, but this wasn't like those at all. Ren could hear them, that they were pretty sure of. He just didn't speak, for a reason Zophyr did not know.
But why did that matter? The boy was cute, and his lack of speaking didn't change the fact that Zophyr wanted to get to know him. They smiled. "Well then, I am charmed to meet you, Ren Willow-Saito," they replied, hoping they'd pronounced his name correctly. The more they looked at him, the more handsome he seemed to get. "An enchanting name to go with an enchanting face."

So many things had happened in so little time. Mahlioz hadn't really been sure what to expect, coming to the Fall Ball. She was hoping there wouldn't be another maze like in last year's Spring Ball, and wondering what it meant to be coming with a date. Or, well, two, but one of them seemed rather keen

on pretending she wasn't there. Mahlioz had definitely not anticipated drama, but drama had apparently anticipated her. She already felt weird and uncomfortable with the way Renelle was acting towards her, and then an older year suddenly walked towards them and purposefully spilled his drink on her.
And then everything happened too fast. Mahlioz was trying to figure out what on earth was wrong with him, but Astra and Renelle obviously were ahead of her and had already tried to kick him. The boy cast a spell Mahlioz didn't know, but it seemed to have backfired and he was... stuck to the girl next to him? Mahlioz was just frozen, stuck there, bewildered and slightly confused. Why had he done that? And why had the spell backfired? And what the heck was going on?
Things seemed to have calmed down a bit now, as the three girls walked away from the older year. Renelle was smirking, but the smile disappeared as soon as she caught Mahlioz's eye. Really? the second year thought. What had she done wrong? What was it that she had done that was so bad that she had wiped this girl's smile off her face? She felt awful and she didn't know what for. She couldn't understand. The night was supposed to be fun. Why was she filled with an awful sense of dread?
Turning to Astra alone once more, Renelle suggested they go to the boat rides, before adding that it was fine if the Slytherin first year wanted to spend time with Mahlioz instead and that she wanted peace and quiet anyway. Wait... was she jealous? The second year detected at least some jealousy in the young girl's words. But why? They had all agreed to this...
Renelle left for the lanterns and boat rides alone, letting the other two make their decision. Mahlioz wasn't sure what to do. She didn't want to deprive Astra of her best friend, but being around Renelle was so stress-inducing. Boat rides sounded fun, though. "I'm up for it if you are," Mahlioz said to Astra, and if the other girl accepted, she would follow her after Renelle. Maybe it would give them some more time to resolve their problems.Stamina: 6 | Evasion: 6 | Strength: 4 | Wisdom: 9 | Arcane power: 7 | Accuracy: 8

Candle-Lit Banquet
Talking to Botan Mirua of Mahoutokoro
The start of Charlie’s second year had been slightly hectic. She had been shocked by all of the work, forgetting how much she had done last year. So when the time of the fall ball came around, she had no date. She didn’t want to third wheel on what her best friend Ava was doing, but she also didn’t want to go alone, because that was awkward. Staying in the castle wasn’t optimal either as she wanted something different. So she knew she needed to go to the ball. She would wait at the gates and see if any loners would come, and if not she could lurk inside or go back up to the castle.
On the night before the ball she tamed her extremely wavy hair and dug through her wardrobe for something to wear. Crumpled up in the back was a tan or orange-ish fall dress. Charlie pulled it on and her jaw dropped when she saw the fit. It was one of the most striking dresses she had ever worn. Then she grabbed some plain white leather shoes and filled her clutch with some things she might need. This included her wand, a unopened chocolate frog, and a second year spell book.
She made her way out of the castle and out on to the front lawn. She was late. Not that she had a date, but she had wanted to get to the ball quickly to catch any loner guy who might also be looking for a last minute date. Charlie leaned on a tree near the entrance, impatiently waiting for someone to come along alone.
And finally someone did.

Candle-Lit Banquet
He was going to put this strumpet in her place, gaze averted he cast epoximize. The charm was easy enough, a flick of the wrist and an utterance of a word of power. A word he knew well. A word he had said many times over. A swish of his wand, with the intention to bind... to another. He saw for a brief moment red, and for just a tick he smelled it. Was that strawberries?
With the skip of his heart, his focus was lost and his spell backfired. Or did it really?
He would find his arm firmly affixed to Winnie. An unconscious tug and she would feel an insistent yank on her side. "Shit," he muttered. "A little help here hun?" He had gotten his wand hand stuck on her."
A scowl would overcome his boyish features. There was no kindness or pity in his eyes as he muttered something unintelligible to himself. He would fumble and reach for his wand in his left hand now that it was bound. Another tug, perhaps a strain on the bodice she was wearing. "Nice uh... dress?" Yes, it was definitely a dress, he was not looking in her direction but he was certain she was wearing a dress. Had he noticed it already? Hadn't he already looked? Yes, he definitely saw her. Damn, why can't he remember. He glanced out of the side of her eye and saw her. Yes, he had seen. No. Yes, he definitely... Was he huffing the strawberry juice?
To anathematize Merlin.
No, comminate Athanatos...
He took a breath, a clouded mind was a mind still. The threads of fate were taut and red. he just needed to pluck from fate the thread intended to steer the course of this evening and knock over the first in an array of dominos.
First, he needed his freedom. "Finite Incantatem," he snapped with annoyance lacing his words. "I have to do everything myself," an exasperated teen complained as he clutched his wand and tried to pull himself loose after casting the general counter charm.
Action: Cast the general countercharm (Finite Incantatem) to free himself from the failed Epoximise charm.

Aaron Jones would meet back up with Opeila, their awkward encounter would likely taint their evening. Leave it uneasy and tense. It was easy to live on when you stop thinking, when you do not remember. That is okay. He reminded himself. That is good. Life is meant to be lived.

His want to have a tête-à-tête with Howard would have to be deferred. He was surrounding himself with others and what he wanted to discuss could have no witnesses. His jaw tensed, his back stiffened. He would try to elist unknowing, unwitting strangers to assist him with his dilemma but they (Delanie) were uninterested. She just scolded him, told him to mind his own business and then announced she was getting food. Oh well, he would have to simply relent. "I never eat the food," he admitted without further elaboration as he backed away. He heard too many voices, knew too many intentions. No, he did not trust the food. He did not trust those that made it. Those that carried it. Those that ate it. The boy (Elias) would follow the girl. He did not have as much to say, so Vladimir had nothing more to say to him.
So with that, Vladimir would back down. There would be no approach on this evening. He would suffer glance in Pride's direction. There was a commotion, typical really. That was how Mathias manipulated the situation, a lot of bluster, chaos and noise. He would play into the madness and use this unsettled nature of the situation to his advantage. He would venture a listen and know his truth, the madness and veracity mingled together as he feigned consternation and awe. It was a crude at best attempt, but he had tried similar with a lighter touch. Thwarted by simple circumstance, he bided his time.
He would approach the boy, presently bound to his good-natured, albeit inane date. He was quite enamored by her, and somehow she him despite his vapid, pernicious nature. Whatever Mathias planned to do, it would have failed. They were in completely different leagues. "Looks like you two are inseparable," he quipped with a grin that looked like it was stolen off of Mathias' snarky face. "I am making an early night of it, it seems like you have it from here. Try to not dose Miss Harper too greatly this time post shenanigans, we do not want her to forget the first semester."
Oops, said too much?
An earworm (something only Mathias can hear) announced.
"And ladies, please do not let someone like my baby cousin," not that he was significantly younger but the infantilization of the arrogant Slytherin was intentional "ruin your good evening. You're both too fair and vibrant to be made dim in our fading light. Adieu." A gift in his wake, he would snap his finger and leave a bouquet of red spider lillies in the care of Pride's victim.

"Hardly indemnification for the ungainly, loutish behavior of my cousin, but it will have to do. Good evening."
Actions: Makes mathias look bad and then Vladimir leaves the ball. Cannot elaborate on the spell used for the flowers, but they would be given to the young woman that was 'attacked' by Mathias.

Waiting and Chatting with Charlie.
Botan did not know what to do. He had promised his strict father that he would go to the ball at the European magic school, Hogwarts, but he hadn't had the heart to find a date. None of the Mahoutokoro girls seemed to like him, even with his above average grades. It was like the all wanted his cousin and not him. He honestly didn't know if he should go to the ball without a date, but since had promised his father, he knew he must go.
Botan would wait at the gate for someone he knew and he would go in with them. The more he thought about it, the less he liked the idea because he basically would be what someone might call a third wheel. So he would wait for someone else who was alone and go with them. If all else failed he would snag some snacks from the snack table and leave. Botan went as early as he could and waited under a tree near the entrance. He was wearing all black, his signature color, but this time he was in a suit instead of jeans and a jacket. As couples walked by, he grew lonelier and lonelier wishing he had a girl from his school that was willing to date him.
After what felt like hours a girl came and stood in front of him. Botan had noticed a the girl arrive a few minutes ago and lean on a different tree, impatiently waiting for someone, most likely her date, show up. Standing up, hopeful thoughts rushed through his mind. Maybe she doesn't have a date and wants to go with me! Maybe her friend wants to go with me! After failing to lower his desperate mind, he spoke. The tone came out low and angry, but that was fine. he was extremely desperate. "Hello, my 愛 Ai, love are you looking for someone to accompany you inside?" He asked her in a mix of his native Japanese and English which he hoped she would understand. If the girl said yes he would offer up his name, school and arm as they enter in the ball.

Kaya smiled listening to Sherlock. It was easy doing so and felt nice. She agreed that in such circumstances something like sandwich would be great. Without plates and place to sit while eating, it surely will be best to have the type of food that doesn't threaten to get to clothes. Though it's always easy to use spell to clean oneself, however, it still wouldn't feel pleasant. In situation like this I usually prefer something that doesn't make clothes dirty. You know, I just usually go with biscuit, I don't really eat at ball. But otherwise, it's homemade chocolate cake and some fruits. But pizza sounds cool, I shall try it. Kaya Rose smiled and decided that she'll definitely try different food next time she gets opportunity to visit some places. She hoped Sherlock wouldn't feel bad if she almost didn't eat as girl didn't feel need of it. Especially before dancing. Kaya noticed how Sherlock reacted to offered hand and smiled enthusiastically. It had it's own beauty in Sherlock. While Kaya knew some things from muggle world from her traveling and exploring, she didn't watch any movies. So, at time like this, she was wondering for a second if there were a lot of videos like this. When they came to the tables with food, they saw different type of it. Kaya noticed brownies and juice and that was already enough for her. Do you find something attractive for you? I guess I'll go with brownie and juice, at least for now. She reached for brownie and started to eat it carefully, to not leave food on face or clothes. You know we could walk for a while after eating before going to dance. What do you think about it? |

Sherlock wrinkled his nose just so slightly upon hearing Rose's explanation about biscuits. "That's not very healthy," he chided her gently, "we need protein and carbs for three square meals." However, he left it at that, for he did not want to argue. He never liked it, but in particular with people he genuinely liked or cared for. Why take the risk of destroying a good relationship when it was very hard to build?
The two preteens proceeded to the food and beverage table, and soon Rose had found what she wanted, some brownies and juice. She asked if he also had his heart set on something, but to be perfectly honest, he had not. "I think I'll have some finger-sized sandwiches over there," he whispered, rather uncertainly, "but I may need to take some at once. Look so small, don't think I'll get full eating just five of them." He was rather ashamed of his own words, but it would not matter whether he explained it to her now or later, she would saw him piling them up sooner or later.
He ended up eating some bites of spicy chicken sandwiches; inside one was some chicken, cheese, lettuce, tomato, roasted jalapeño, and tortilla chips topped with salsa sauce and chili sauce. Sherlock may be the one in his family who did not enjoy hot food most, but that did not mean he hated them. Truth be told, he rather missed them these days.
As the two ate, Rose came up with the suggestion of walking around before dancing, and the Belizean nodded approvingly at the idea. He wanted to look around, explore the place a little bit; and it was definitely not a good idea to dance with his stomach full. Goodness knows what embarrassing accident may happen to him on the dance floor.

Bailey, in mentioning that she was not Hana's date, got a raised eye brow from EmmaLee. Bailey then mentioned "Him" and the younger girl let out a soft 'ooooh' and bailey internally cringed - not at the girl's words, but at herself for mentioning Kim.
Steph noted the change in Bailey's name, noting her first name and very sweetly readdressed her. bailey smiled, knowing she had found another sunshine soul. "Thank you Stephen - you are too kind!"
To hana's remark she smirked back and said "would you mind it if i was?". In the back of bailey's mind though, she was thinking of another 'pretty' boy, admired by many, that she'd very much like to ask to the ball.
EmmaLee had a sharp wit, and exchanged a few sentences with Hana. Before Stephen and EmmaLee left bailey and Hana the younger girl placed a hand on Bailey's upper arm, a bright smile faced in Bailey's direction. Returning the smile bailey replied "that would be lovely! I'll send you an owl and we can decide on a time? a picnic would be nice again! Enjoy your evening!"
Stephen nodded his goodbye at bailey and hana, and bailey smiled at the younger boy saying "take care you two! enjoy the ball!"
The pair headed off, and Bailey turned to Hana as he let out a relieved sign. The boy beside her brushed his hair out of his eyes and Bailey met his eyes, a smile on her face matching the twinkle in his eyes.
"they did seem a bit fond of you - im lucky that they didn't steal you away~"
Bailey jested back, laughter in her eyes.
"open we shall be" bailey replied, smiling. "my grand plan consisted of wandering ball alone, maybe finding a friend to spend time with - or making a new friend - until you showed up. i must admit, your timing is as impeccable as ever - " with a tilt of her head bailey continued " - i do enjoy your company. i hope you know that - and i do consider you a friend. a true friend, a good one!"
Glancing around the area, bailey then returned her gaze to Hana, returning his question. " do you have a grand plan for you evening as well? a special someone you're waiting for?"

I looked around the Lake and saw several couples dancing and seeing a few students with friends. I didn't see people all by themselves here. Either they were here with a date of they were with friends. I thought about talking to the others but decided against it. I don't feel like socializing. A girl walked up to the refreshment stand and took a drink. I wonder if she came here all by herself like me.
"Are you alright, you seem...out of place, not in a bad way though."
I ignored her, thinking she was talking to someone else but there was no one else around. It took me a few seconds to realise that she was talking to me. Couldn't she see that I did not want to get noticed? I mean I think I've made it pretty clear by my standing position that I didn't want to get noticed.
As I said I don't want any socializing today, I just want the time to go by quicker and get back to my dorm.
"I'm fine." I said in a way that I normally wouldn't talk to people with.
Cold? Maybe, but as I said I really didn't want any socializing. I hoped that she would just move on and never bother me again.
