Born in Norway in 1972, Mette is a Professor of Anthropology at Queen Margaret's University in Scotland. Her Norwegian upbringing instilled a deep appreciation for social justice and nature, driving her academic focus on marginalized groups and environmental issues. Meeting her wizard husband, Raeborn, broadened her understanding of hidden worlds. Mette is an intellectually curious and empathetic idealist, valuing knowledge and actions for positive change. She balances analytical thinking with genuine social connection, finding solace in Nordic folklore, ethnobotany, and nature walks. She is kind, caring and tolerant, driven by her liberal and progressive beliefs, which she hopes to instill on her children.

♂ Raeborn Tilia

Born 1970 (54 years old). Raeborn's parents were usually traveling when he was young, so he became self-dependent early in life and learned to cope on his own. The flip side was that he learned how to hide his emotions. You rarely see him sad or angry, but he does not allow himself to get too excited either.

Growing up with traveling parents created an interest in other countries, which eventually lead Raeborn to take an employment at the Department of International Magical Co-operation. Raeborn has been very successful in strengthening the diplomatic relations with countries such as France, South Africa, Saudi-Arabia, Japan, Chile, and Brazil. He is an introvert, a bit of a bookworm, but very skilled at connecting with people on a deeper level. He plays guitar and likes to watch documentaries about archaeology. Finding out that his son Simon had inherited his magical ability was one of the best moments of his life. He struggles with his relationship with his squib daughter Clara though.

♀ Clara Jacobsen

Born 2003 (21 years old). As a child, Clara dreamed of becoming either a singer or having her own shop. She was always very determined and shows an almost excessive level of self-confidence. In her teenage, Clara became more aware of the fact that her father was different, and she eventually stopped bringing friends to their home. The truth was that she was ashamed of him. When her little brother Simon showed the first sign of magic, something inside her broke. Deep down, a part of her wondered what a life with magical abilities would be like, but another part wanted nothing to do with that at all.

After high school, Clara moved to London and established her own company. Together with a skilfull team she is developing beauty and health products, such as make-up, hand lotions, body lotions, shampoos, conditioners, and perfumes. Her trademark is CLARA JACOBSEN. Clara’s greatest fear is that her friends, business partners or social media followers will find out about her ‘weird’ family.

♂ Hoax

Hoax is a morepork owl from New Zealand. He spent his first year in the care of an old Aboriginal lady before he was snatched by pouchers. When he was finally rescued and returned, the lady had passed away in her home. He was then shipped out to Magical Menagerie in London, wrongly labeled as an Eastern Screech Owl, which a certain Simon Tilia had ordered. When realizing that the owl was not what he'd ordered, Simon simply named him Hoax. They both liked each other from first glance, and Hoax quickly settled in with the Tilias family.

Hoax is an extremely emotionally intelligent owl. It seems as though he knows the feelings and thoughts of humans just by looking at them, and he can read the mood in a room in an instant. He is talkative, caring and hard-working when delivering letters and packages (but also demanding when it comes to treats for a reward).

✦ Simon's 1st Year

Summary

In contrast to his well-mannered impression, Simon quickly earns himself the nickname "the bruised eagle" because of his habit of returning to the common room covered in dirt and fresh bruises from his excursions – quite out of the ordinary for a Ravenclaw. This is largely due to the influence of his adventurous Gryffindor friend Irina Shevel. He also befriends Delilah Chapman, a curious girl with frizzy hair and weird ideas. Despite their differences, they somehow get along. Within Ravenclaw, the shy but loyal Zach Zaphiere and an American boy called Cassian Clarke become his best friends. The relationship with his self-occupied squib sister is a touchy subject. The growing rift between them bothers him more than he likes to admit.

Summary

After a family vacation in Greece, Simon returns to Hogwarts with anticipation for the new year. On the journey to the castle, he barely makes it to the last carriage where he meets the introverted Slytherin Mahlioz Evethisawe. Despite some awkward moments between them, their meeting develops into a new friendship. Mahlioz introduces Simon to new and interesting perspectives on romance that challenges his own views.

✦ Simon's 3rd Year

Summary

Simon enters his third year at Hogwarts with a profound internal shift. The boy once defined by outdoor adventures and a constant sunburn has returned pale and hollow. His family is fractured, mirroring his own state – almost like a tree trunk splitting under the weight of its own branches. Nightmares of fire and chaos haunt his sleep, and the activities he once loved does no longer bring him any joy.

To hide his pain, Simon withdraws from everyone, especially those closest to him: Irina, Mahlioz, Delilah, Zach, and Cassian. He knows they are observant enough to see through his mask. When he is forced to see them, he performs a convincing act of 'being okay', only to retreat into the lonely, shadowy corners of the castle.

✦ Simon's 4th Year

Summary

To anyone who had witnessed Simon’s decline during his third year, the boy returning now has not only reclaimed his former self, but surpassed it. The grey pallor of his depression has been stripped away, replaced by a deep tan from the summer. He is no longer the ghost who had haunted the quiet and lonely corridors of the castle last year. He is returning with physical vitality and a hardened, positive mindset, ready to discard the weight of last year and make the most of the time ahead.

For him, this year is a fresh start. He is coming back renewed, and he feel happier, and stronger, than ever. He also get to know the peculiar new first-year, Mikaela Hendricks, taking on the role of mentoring her, almost like a big brother. Whether he finds the sister he wishes he had in her, or compensating for his own neglective big sister by being that supportive older sibling himself, he does not know.

Description
Simon's wand is an elegantly carved out wand with a shiny surface, almost perfectly proportional. It is a bit heavier at the handle, which makes it a solid and reliable wand to draw, hold and wield.

English oak
Wands of English oak demand partners of strength, courage and fidelity. Less well-known is the propensity for owners of English oak wands to have powerful intuition, and, often, an affinity with the magic of the natural world, with the creatures and plants that are necessary to wizardkind for both magic and pleasure.



Unicorn hair
Wands with a unicorn hair are the most faithful of wands and produces the most consistent magic. They are least subject to fluctuations and blockages and are most difficult to turn to the Dark Arts. However, they are not the most powerful of wands (unless the wand wood compensates) and are prone to melancholy if mishandled.

★ Interpretation
It is no surprise that this particular wand chose Simon as its owner. Simon has great emotional strength and a good portion of courage, sometimes to the extent of being fearless. He also has a certain affinity for forests, trees and plants. However, he has yet to learn to trust his intuition and not only rely on theory and logic. Combined with a unicorn hair, Simon has a loyal and reliable wand, that could be even more powerful should he learn to go with his gut.
