The Squib Sister and her Beauty Brand SOLO Finished

“He believed Hogwarts to be a sanctuary
from that sort of Muggle technology.”

When the owls arrived with the morning post that day, Simon got his first letter from his 19-year-old squib sister. She lived in London where she was developing her own beauty product brand. Simon had been on Hogwarts for two weeks now, but had not yet received a letter from her until now.

His sister Clara had been very hesitant to write with pen and paper and use the family owl Hoax as the messenger. All Clara did was sit on her phone, text her friends or scroll through her social media feed. She did not seem to grasp or understand that cellphones could not be used at Hogwarts even if he had smuggled one in. Simon, on the other hand, quite enjoyed being free from all that. He believed Hogwarts to be a sanctuary from that sort of Muggle technology.

Hey, brother!

Sorry for my delayed letter… I’ve had so much to do lately, but I hope you’re having a good time and that your new school is as cool as you thought it was gonna be! Told you it was gonna be easier to stay in contact if we could text like everybody else! I mean, it is 2022 after all. C'mon, I’m kiiidding.

Everything is going well with the company and I can tell you that we WILL be developing products for men too. I’m so hyped! The products have just been approved. I’ll make sure to send you a gift box in the next couple of weeks. Perhaps you’re a bit young but you’ve grown so much lately so I figured I’ll send you a box anyway, and you wouldn’t wanna smell of sweat among your new fancy friends.

P.S. If some girls in your class would be interested in trying out my products, let me know! I’ll send them a gift box for free as well.

xoxo
Clara

We are like 11 years old, he thought to himself, having a hard time believing that Madison, for instance, would be interested in perfume, make up, lotions and face creams just yet. He did not even bother to answer the letter. Instead, he returned to his pancakes, silently enjoying the sleepy chatter in the Great Hall. Sunlight entered the windows and birds could be heard chirping from outside. The nearly headless ghost was greeting an older student by separating his head from the neck, a Gryffindor girl had apparently tried out that particular candy that made steam blow out of your ears and one of the Hufflepuff boys seemed to have got himself a howler already.

Yes. Hogwarts was indeed his sanctuary.
