First day of school. Simon was listening to Coldplay's "Viva La Vida" in his Airpods when he entered the busy King's Cross Station. At last, he was going back to Hogwarts. He missed spell-casting, exploring the castle, reading in the library, the food in the Great Hall, the floral scent in the greenhouses and the view from the Ravenclaw tower. But mostly, he looked forward to seeing all his friends again. Soon he was about to leave the Muggle world behind him and enter a world of witches, wizards, trolls, magical potions and flying brooms.

He put his headphones in his trunk, realizing he was not going to use them for months now. He looked at the ticket.

"This is it, Hoax", he said to his morepork owl. "Are you ready to get back to Hogwarts?"

As he passed through the enchanted brick wall, the Hogwarts Express was revealed before him. The platform 9 ¾ was crowded and noisy. Some of the clothes and hats among the parents deviated heavily from that of the Muggle's on the other side of the brick wall behind him. He could see a lot of familiar faces. Among his classmates was Mellani Miller from Slytherin. He spotted the unmistakable frizzy hair of Delilah Chapman, whom he had met in the Diagon Alley a week ago, and further away was his best friend Madison's brother James. But he did not see Madison. Perhaps she was somewhere in the crowd or she had found a seat on the train already. Finding her seemed nearly impossible with the amount of students boarding the train.

Towards the end of the journey, Simon excused his traveling company, one of his fellow Ravenclaws and two new first years, to go to the bathroom and change into his uniform. Properly dressed for the Sorting Ceremony, he exited the bathroom and looked outside the windows, noticing that the sun had now fully set. All that remained was but a glowing horizon. That was when he ran into the one person that had occupied his mind every day for over two months now. One whom he had missed dearly. It was like his heart made a somersault in his chest. Madison came walking towards him in the corridor.

Second year, here we go Madison thinks to herself as she walks through the wall before her older brother James. Once she sees the red train, her heart smiles as brightly as the sun. She tried to find her best friend Simon Tilia, on the platform but couldn't so she boarded the train and found another carriage to sit in, making friends with a girl in the same house as her, Alyssea Brown.

After changing into her robes in the bathroom as the train was nearing the end of its journey, Madison was walking down the corridor, her new kitten Clover was in her cage asleep in her carriage, but as she was walking, a scent hit Madison's nose that was so familiar, she knew instantly who it was. A scent she'd missed for two months. She walked faster and gave Simon a massive hug "Si, oh how i've missed you!" she says with a smile. Standing in front of the boy she'd missed for two months, her best friend and her crush, Madison couldn't help but blush as the glow of the sunset hit her face and made her sapphire blue eyes sparkle. She was finally on her way back to Hogwarts to start her second year and Madison knew in her mind that it was going to be amazing!

Simon wrapped his arms around her and hugged her tightly. He had almost forgotten how good it felt to be near Madi. They had been sending countless owls to each other over the summer. Sometimes she had attached a moving photo of herself, taken with the camera she got from him on her birthday, but having her in front of him was something entirely different.

"Christ, I've missed you..." he said with his eyes closed as her strawberry scent entered his nose.

When they let go of each other he took a good look at her. She looked so pretty in her new school uniform. Maybe he was imagining things but she seemed slightly taller, even though it had only been eight weeks since last he saw her.

"You look great, Madi." He smiled. "Can you believe we're second years now? Hard to think it's been a year already. It still feels like only yesterday we met on the docks and you were talking so much it was hard for me to keep up." (He chuckled) "At the same time, it feels like ages ago, weirdly enough."

That had been a different Simon and Madi. A lot had happened since, and after their last meeting in Kensington, Simon had become aware of his feelings for her. Did she had feelings for him too? The cryptic hint he had got from her brother James seemed to suggest that.

Suddenly the long line of trees outside the window ended and the Hogwarts castle was revealed before them, standing tall on the cliff on the other side of the lake. They both turned their heads towards it and looked at it in silence. All the memories from last year came flooding back to him – when they carved their nicknames into the wall in the Boathouse, their private Halloween party and all their laughter in the corridors.

He put his hand on her shoulder. "Are you ready to make some new memories?"

Madi looked at Simon as they let go of each other, his scent still lingering in her nose as she couldn't help but smile. She'd loved all the owls they'd sent to each other from the time he left Kensington after surprising her on her birthday but seeing him in person was so much better. Even though it technically hadn't been long since they last saw each other, it felt like an eternity to Madi. "Thank you Si, you look great yourself" she said. "I know, it's crazy how much has happened since we first started at Hogwarts but I understand what you mean Si and I'm glad we met on the docks that day" Madi says as she moves some hair to behind her ear.

Madi couldn't help but stare at Simon with that same sweet smile, however both of their attentions soon turned to the windows as the Hogwarts castle came into view. I wonder what this year will bring for Simon and I, maybe we'll become more than just best friends, god I hope so, but we'll see I guess Madi thinks to herself as all of her memories started rushing back into her mind.

As Madi felt Simon put his hand on her shoulder, she couldn't help but smile at him and she nodded "With you, I definitely am ready to make some new memories, I just hope Hogwarts is ready too" Madi says with a giggle.

As Madi and Simon both hugged one last time before heading back to their carriages, Madi sat back down in her seat and smiled as she made sure Clover was ok and her little kitten was still sleeping soundly. This year is going to be a great year, I can feel it Madi thinks to herself as the train stops and she takes a deep breath, Let's do this she thinks as she picks up her things, including her pet cage with Clover inside, and exits the train ready to start her second year.
