Though somewhat tall and gangly for her age, Avery tends to carry her lean frame with a quiet comfortability. Wild reddish brown hair is cropped short, barely contained wisps jutting out at any given time. Bright blue eyes peer out at the world with barely contained amusement. Her face is home to a smattering of freckles that dust the pale skin from ear to ear. A small scar sits just above her left brow, hardly noticeable unless in sunlight.

𝑬 𝑨 𝑹 𝑳 𝒀 ● 𝑳 𝑰 𝑭 𝑬 | Born the youngest of three to Irish muggle parents, Elliot and Cara. The majority of Avery's childhood has been spent helping on her family's farm alongside her elder siblings Tristan and Hannah. The farm itself is of moderate size on the outskirts of Carlow, one of many in the community. On weekdays, she would go into town with her siblings to attend a muggle school. When not helping with chores or focusing on schoolwork, Avery often found herself wandering about the countryside. If she wasn't following the various streams that ran past the farm, she would make the trek out to the various dolmens in the area, sketchpad always in hand.

The McCall family was always a tight knit group. Be it working through the daily chores side-by-side or taking meals together, life was altogether peaceful in the McCall household. A wrench in that constancy only cropped up on one unsuspecting morning with the accidental discovery of Avery's magical capacity at age 10. While going about her usual tasks on the farm, her footing became uneven while pushing bags of feed from the hayloft. Tipping over the edge, she had braced for a painful impact as the voices of her siblings called out in surprise. When no pain came, and as silence rang through the air, Avery finally opened her eyes to find herself hovering a few inches from the ground as her siblings stared on with blatant shock.

When a stranger appeared at the farm one afternoon not long after, an admittance letter in hand, the girl listened with rapt attention. Her father, somewhat of a traditionalist and even more resistant to change, was less than thrilled at this development. He took to ignoring any reminder of the existence of magic, which included Avery herself beyond the bare minimum required. With her mother's help, she was able to assemble all the supplies needed for the coming year.
