"Not at all." Edme reassured her. They had only been there for a small bit of time, so she was still trying to take in the lavish decor. It was certainly very bright. "If you couldn't tell, I prefer brown," they referred to the all brown outfit sheepishly. So she wasn't the only one who had the help of another with finding an outfit.

From what the Ravenclaw had seen of Vienna's style, she seemed to like the more colorful and bright of styles, and wore it quite loudly. Edme wouldn't really say it was bad, just very different from their own. "Well, I'm sure he'd find you something great."

Edme hadn't thought twice about attending this event, it was just a struggle finding a date and really understanding what it was they would be doing on attendance. She had first thought about going alone, but after bringing it up with Vienna they had landed herself with a friend to go with, and gratefully so. It would have been a tad embarrassing to show up alone and awkward.

Edme nodded along with Vienna's response, watching the unpatterned flow of the fire blazing in the goblet. "Magical schools are so much more interesting than muggle schools. Floating candles is much different from colored paper." she chuckled. "Oh, yeah, sure! I wouldn't mind getting away from..." -they motioned to one of the many chaotic scenes before the two-"that."

From what she had seen and heard about the crafts table, it seemed like a mundane and honestly quite fun area to hang out around. They had seen a few people leave, though she wasn't sure if it was for the crafts table or the outdoor festival.

The first year hadn't taken notice of the games quite yet, but had heard word about it every here and there in casual conversation or blank observations. "That could be fun." Edme tried a smile, though it was subtly wavering. It couldn't hurt to try, right?

Judith gave a smile when Hunter told her about that his mom had placed him in the same situation. Her mom had never been a trendy one, or what to say, cool? She just was the typical 'oeh oeh i want a picture for in the foto album of next year!' mom. But otherwise, she thought her parents were pretty cool. Suddenly Judith got a bit more nervous. She realised that she might be spending the evening with Hunter, looking like a total fool, like always. How was she supposed to interact with anyone without making it awkward, not making any stupid moves, like tripping, or spilling drinks or.

As she was racing through her thoughts again she got dragged back to reality when Hunter asked her if she'd like to dance. For a minute she forces, not really sure what to do nor say. Hunter, the cute guy she had met a little while ago, was asking her to dance? After a small minute, she shook her head, only a little bit so it would be barely noticeable, and gave Hunter a smile. "I'd love to dance, or do an activity, or talk" she said nervously, and maybe even a bit too loud. "I mean, I'd love to dance with you" She rephrased herself, trying to sound less loud, and less nervous.

Suddenly, Hunter turned around and picked up a vibrant crimson rose, and placed it into Judith's hair. As he did so, she froze again, probably looking as read a strawberry because of all the blushing. Her inner self was screaming, but on the outside, she was staring. She dragged herself out of the screaming, and smiled, slightly looking down. She tucked her hair behind her ear and gave Hunter another smile. "Thankyou Msr. Argentum, and you can call me Judith if you want to, but if you prefer Ms. Cohen, then feel free to." She said and laughed. "Mhm, I'm not sure, probably roses, i love white once, or red. But i also love these little white flowers, those that grow all over the fields, my mom takes them out cause she thinks they're weed, but i love them. What about you?" She said and smiled.

The day of the ball had finally come. Grayson had never been a fan of social events, yet he found himself looking forward to this one. It was a tad bit ironic. After all, he hadn't even been planning on attending the ball only a couple of days ago. But his encounter with a certain someone had changed his mind.

Considering he hadn't seen her in person for at least a good six years, Grayson was delighted to see his childhood friend again. Sure, they had been keeping up through letters, but it was a completely different experience actually seeing each other again. Grayson really didn't know what had come over him when he asked her to the ball. Perhaps he was tired, or something like that. But for some strange reason, he hadn't regretted it at all. It wasn't some impulsive decision he had made in the heat of the moment. It was a choice he was actually proud of.

Now, dressed in a red suit he had found stuffed in the back of his trunk, he entered the Great Hall, eyes searching through the crowds of people for a familiar face. As he made his way through the crowds a bitter scowl began to develop. He really did hate social events, how lively and loud they were. But right now, he had to suppress that resentment for Selena's sake.

The Great Hall was quite extravagant, decorated in colorful flowers with the school's banners hanging from the ceiling. It was quite contrasting to Grayson's usual desaturated look. After all, the red suit he had been dawning at the moment was one of the brightest things he had worn, probably in his life. He'd never been one for activities, so as his eyes fell upon posters describing games and crafting tables he wasn't all that intrigued. Perhaps he'd just spend the whole night following Selena around, after all, he didn't really mind games. He just personally wouldn't engage in them.

After quite a but of searching, his eyes finally fell upon a familar brunette. He exhaled, grinning as he made his way towards her. "Hey!" he called as he approached her. "Hey. Sorry if I kept you waiting," he apologized, quite a rare occasion, as he finally reached her. He took a minute to observe her. Dressed in a light blue dress, she looked quite nice. In fact, the two kind of complimented each other, one in blue, one in red. "Um, you look nice," he stuttered.

Well, at the very least she is not wearing a blanket like a toga or an oversized, cinched shirt. She was wearing white of all colors, probably one of the worst options to wear to a ball. The smoke, grass and blood stains alone were a sufficient reason to choose something else entirely. If nothing else, Erin cleaned up well. A gold-colored bangle on her left wrist and a pair of diamond stud earrings that were nearly invisible gave the part Veela a rather understated presence in comparison to some of the more elaborate choices in attire some of the other girls donned.

She felt tall at the very least, wearing a pair of wheat-colored wedges that added four inches to her already appreciable five foot five frame. She was thing, but she did not appear sickly. Her long, blonde hair was simply pulled back from her face, wisps of unruly strands of hair would frame a seemingly clean face. Little did she know and little had she prepared herself for a food fight that would be taking place on the first and potentially only ball that she bothered to clean herself up for. Balls such as the Blossom Ball are known for their chaos and she would not miss the disaster for the world.

“Bite me,” Nicholas offered. Yes, offered. Did he really forget who he was talking to?

Erin quirked a brow. Between the two of them, only one was utterly shameless. "Well, you asked so nice..." She was dumb, but not so dumb that she did not know what he meant. But did not stop her from the statement that might cause a small part of the youth shrivel away.

She was not going to bite. Not because she was not tempted. She wondered what he tasted like. But his flesh would not satiate the sort of hunger she endured.

“I won’t pretend not to be surrounded by beautiful people, and you sure as hell know that you’re in that number. But it doesn’t mean shit when every second one of them is three different forms of fucked up, playing at being who they’re not, desperately trying to climb to the top of the pile by proving just how little everyone else is worth when compared to them. Boasting about their blood status, their good looks, hell their own fucking compassion. It’s all a load of shit. Acting.”

"Most ugly people can at least fall back on their personality, what is your selling point again?" Well, ugly was a strong term. He had human features and the right amount of all of the conventional body parts one would expect of a teenage boy. There was an essential symmetry. But Erin did not suffer from the conventional hormonal rush expected of a sixteen year old girl. There was no passion, no actual lust. She would wreck him had been in the possession of a decent personality. If she had the belief that she was cared for, Burnett would know, a lie could easily suffice. "If you were even a little amicable, you could be happy." Yet he seemed rather set on being as miserable as humanly possible.

“Wallow in misery? ...At least that emotion is genuine. When was the last time you actually expressed how you felt? Truly felt?”

He made a grand gesture with his arm. "I don't get to feel a damn thing, but if I had the abundance of choice you have I would pick to be happy." He had it all truly. He had the attention of a strange, colorful girl, but he had someone's attention and it was real. She was not lying. She was not playing some cruel prank on him. Seeing how far something so callous could play out. "Given the choice between being a stunning shell and a withered crone with a full experience and expression of life... what choice do you think I would make?" The only acting she did was pretend to be animate, to act as if she was living, thriving. That she was doing anything more than existing.

“When do you last reckon any of these people dared express anything that meant a Goddamned thing? At least Aurora says what she feels, there’s no pretence.”

"And yet you're here alone," she reminded him. "And you never needed to be. You still don't have to, yet by choice you are. You will. And you're so god-damned pissy about it, you forget that this mess is pretty much your doing and can be undone by you at any time. But sure, blame the rest of us because you've got a stick up your ass." She was not mad like Nicholas was, he was the one making the scene and shouting at her. She tried to take him onto the dance floor but stubborn as a mule, he was an ass in more ways than once, he was not going anywhere.

“I mean… it’s not like I love Aurora or anything,” he reiterated in case it was not clear.

"Yet she is the only thing real, without pretense. Sure thing buddy," she knew why his eyes were brown - he was full of shit.

She made-up some obvious lie and Erin let out a huff of air. Honestly Nick did not treat Aurora much better than he treated her truth be hold. He was pretty much an asshole. Well, Erin was worse because she had no shame, no regret and no remorse. Two can play at this game.

"Seriously, that?" Erin announced loudly, making an exaggerated gesture with her hand up and down the length of the unicorn onesie clad young woman. "You are dumping me for this? This is ridiculous Nicholas Reginald" she really had no idea what his middle name was so she made one up "McCowan! I even [redacted] your [redacted] in the Room of Requirement this morning! I can't believe you!" She let her voice hit a shrill level that only a part Veela capable of a terrible scream was capable of accomplishing.
[Redacted] Ahem use your imagination, honestly I don't know either but decided you guys can figure out something terrible.
She would turn and look at Aurora, as if she could not stand the sight of her. "I don't know what sort of spell you put on my man, but all he can think about is your weird ass," was she seriously handing someone off (someone she was not actively interested in but still someone) to a girl wearing a unicorn onesie? Apparently yes. "Fucking ridiculous you damn asshole," she muttered but the words were certainly intended to be heard. She could not choke out a tear, she was not entirely sure how to do that. She knew the words, the aggressive posturing stances and just like he complained - she was acting out a role. "Do me a damn favor unicorn pajama girl and put on a dress if you are going to take my man and leave me some fucking dignity?"

*Plop*

The sound of a chocolate frog making it's warm landing. It had narrowly missed the girl and hit the floor, it had almost ruined her white dress leaving what would have resembled a massive shit stain on a sheet of toilet paper. Erin would stop, look round. She had avoided the food flinging frenzy and was rather far displaced. Who the hell just did that? She did not even know Niffler was at the ball, never mind attacking her for wearing white better than him. Haters gonna hate... She would look around but her lackluster awareness would fail her, there was a reason that Erin was a beater and not a Seeker and this would be why. If she was the Seeker, she would be still looking for the snitch from the last game.

Just a trick of the lighting they said...

She looked a little taken back as he 'yeugh-ed' whilst stuffing his face with her food. Maybe he did not enjoy it. Though why he continued to eat it was beyond her... But she decided not to make any comments on it. "I think I'll avoid the jelly slugs too, I think," She continued in response to being lucky. Anything slug related did not really seem very appetising today. Normally, she would not care. But today, she just really did not want anything to do with slugs or hags or... well... anything bad. Serena just wanted a nice dance. And so far, that seemed like it was not going to happen.

Galton attempted to bring Howard along with them - despite his earlier refusal. She paused for a moment, staring between them in thought. It was not a good idea. He had already expressed his desire to not join them - likely because she was there and she made him feel uncomfortable or something. Besides, he deserved to have fun and enjoy the event. "Actually, I think Howard might want to go find his own date," She offered, giving him an out, despite the pain that she could feel in her chest. It hurt. Her heart was pounding nervously as she spoke but she continued nonetheless.

Looking towards Howard, "Howard- I just- Just so you know..." She took a deep breath, steadying her nerves, "It was Erin's idea to come to you - and feed you. Not uh... mine. It might have been... unexpected but, she definitely noticed you... And uh I'm pretty sure that Bloom did too... you know, from the way she was looking at you. If... you know, you wanted to ask one of them to dance... I don't think they'd mind..." She managed to get the words out without crying, looking down to the ground for a moment. Ugh. This whole thing sucked. Why was she even bothering? She did not know...

But Erin's words had gotten to her. She might have had a unique way of doing things and Serena did not know her well enough to know if she even liked Howard but... there was a sense of loneliness in Erin's words that made her think the company might not be a bad idea. That and Erin did notice him, come up with the idea to approach him and was incredibly hot. And Bloom... The way she looked at Howard. Did she like him? Serena felt a little sick. She felt awful about the whole thing. Was she just telling Bloom how much she liked Howard when she felt the same?! Maybe she was wrong. Maybe she misjudged the looks. But... even if she was wrong, Howard could still ask them to dance as friends. If she was right about either, maybe he could actually just be happy.

"I mean, you're welcome to come to... whatever this 'fun' is but you know if you wanna go..." She offered him an escape. Whether Howard joined them or not was up to him now. If he had allowed Galton to take his hand and followed him, then she would talk to him whilst walking. If he pulled away, she would linger for a moment, say what she had to and then quickly start to follow after the Gryffindor.

"I have no idea..." She whispered as she heard Hugh's words. Glancing over, she almost sighed a breath of relief seeing a smile on his face. In truth, she had a tiny bit of fear that things would be awkward between them following the events of the Valentine's Tea Party. But he had given her the cutest gift - a teddy bear that hugs her every three hours - and she loved it. Things were not really awkward between them but there was always that small worry within her that made her doubt herself, "But Galton's decided that we're on a date and the more the merrier and uh he has a bunch of fun lined up! So, let's go," Serena continued, quoting as much of what the other boy had said to them as she reached for Hugh's hand to make sure he could not escape from the 'fun' his friend had lined up for them.

If he did not pull away, she was definitely going to tug him along with them. Mostly since she did not want to be alone in whatever these fun antics were. Galton was Hugh's friend first and she only really knew him because of the latter, so he had to experience this whole thing with her! Unlike Howard, Hugh did not get to escape! He was definitely in this mess with her.

She stared at him for a moment, observing him... He looked different somehow. It took her a second before it clicked, it was the facial hair! Was there a theme here that she had just missed? She could not help but wonder if the Gryffindor duo sat in their dorm discussing whether or not to shave their facial hair for the day. Judging by his outfit though, he was ready for a fight more so than a dance, "So, did one of you forget to tell me we're going hunting or something?" She asked genuinely, noticing that she was definitely overdressed if that was the purpose. It was not her teasing him - though it might have come across that way. She was genuinely curious why the pair were ready to fight and she... was here in a chaniya choli.

Her gaze fell to the ground as they navigated their way through the crowd and room. She did not really want to be there anymore. Her chest just really hurt and a sadness had overcome her. Did Bloom like him?

Following Galton, she dragged Hugh towards two people that he seemed to be familiar with. She did not really know either, though she had likely seen their faces around. Since she didn't really know them, she just gave a smile and an awkward wave by sort of lifting her hand towards them, "Hey," She would greet if either looked at her or acknowledged her presence. She was aware that she ought to probably introduce herself but she also did not know if they were staying here or what. She just awkwardly stood like a metre away from Galton and the pair, just wondering if she ought to get involved or leave him to it.

Serena still had the box of samosas in her other hand, not entirely sure if she was supposed to put those down or not anymore. Pizza just chilled on her shoulder for the majority of the conversation. Until he ran along her arm, and then to the arm that she was holding, running up that one instead. Perhaps he wanted to observe the world from a better height.

Noah successfully cast the weather modifying charm, but did anyone actually notice him? Was it really extinguished so quickly no one even turned to look at him? Maybe everyone was told not to pay attention to him by his evil twin. What did Noah ever do so wrong? All Noah wanted was to scare someone at least once. Oh well.

Noah walked over to the spot where he spied Ari.

And of course, Noah wanted to do something... slightly mischievous, since he never revealed himself under the mask. Only word would be said. "Multicorfors."

Noah pointed towards Ari's hair. If it were to succeed, it would be a bright neon pink. Like- an eyesore. Perhaps that bright color will attract some attention to Ari, and of course if it succeeded, Noah would turn it back, soon. And if he failed casting the multicorfors spell, well, then Noah would mope and look as disappointed as he could behind the mask and just give the guy a hug.

After all, they were here on... secret business. A nod, and he turned around to face whatever was in front of him. "Ari, look at how busy this place is already! I mean- seriously!"

????????

End quote.

Currently, that was about the entirety of her thoughts.

Lucietta had never been to one of Hogwarts' famed balls before, though she always managed to hear about the aftermath, somehow, one way or the other. She had no intention to, either; she was perfectly content with staying as far possible as she could. That was until she'd been approached by a Rodion Makarovich, and while no, sorry, I really don't want to die had been on the tip of her tongue, she couldn't bring herself to say it. Yes, sure, I'd love to, had come out instead. Perhaps that was one of her worst qualities, the inability to say no, but so far, it had yet to bite her in the back. Hopefully this wouldn't be the first.

The day of the ball, Lucietta was panicking. She'd never been to a ball before; what was one supposed to wear? She also hadn't exactly packed an entire ballgown in her trunk—attending the ball hadn't been among her plans when she'd been loading outfits into her trunk. It wasn't that she had a shortage of dresses, but more she was unsure which was right for the occasion. Finally, she settled on a gold tulle dress that she discovered at the bottom of her trunk, throwing on some small clips in her hair before messily streaking some blush over her cheeks. (Her mother wouldn't be too proud, but Lucietta was in a rush.)

The Great Hall had been colorfully decorated, seemingly opposite to the dark and dreary mood of the last ball she'd heard about. Flowers adorned every corner of the hall, the sky a sunset image, with streaks of red and orange, all giving off a calm, elegant aura. The scene below, however, was quite the opposite.

Her eyes scanned the hall, an assortment of people from all different schools. Her eyes widened as she took the scene in. A goblet stood in the center. Lucietta shivered at the sight of it. Items also—were those food?—were being thrown about, words hurled at each other. Subconsciously, she leaned backward, away from the commotion, stepping back.

Lucietta found Rodion easily after that, standing aside. "Rodion!" she said airily, voice taking on a higher note as she found some sort of stability in the chaos, something familiar. "What's the umbrella for?" she asked, noticing the charmed umbrella above their heads.

"... Oh. What happened over there?"

The flowers conjured perfectly! Edward smiled. Anything for his girl. Well, anything for Clair, as long as her alleged boyfriend was out of the picture.

Murder. That one thing was still on his mind. As well as his handsome face. He looked at Clair, and attempted to make a swooning expression. He wondered if it was pity that won Clair as Edward's date? Or perhaps it was the pure handsomeness Edward had.

"For you, Clair, my dear, чистый цветок, наполненный красотой, которую вы подарили миру. Почему ты так прекрасна?" I say the translation in the paragraph below

Edward didn't want Clair to meet up with other men since he was afraid that they would steal such a beauty away from him. "Uhh- let me uhh- translate- to english- so- I'm not- lying- like I was back in October. I still feel bad about that, Clair, but- uhh- I said, recently, 'For you, Clair, my dear, a pure flower, filled with the beauty you have provided to the world. Why are you so beautiful?' I'm being honest. That was what I said."

Edward looked sincere, but then decided to further attempt to prove his loyalty in a very very odd way. He would cast a spell at a person in the ball, any person in general. But, well, just for the time being because he had something more indepth in his head, or at least, he wanted to find out who the Durmstrang folks were at the ball, and prove that his father was right about Durmstrang.

So, he pointed it towards the girl in a dress @Erin Ryan with a golden bangle and some hard to see diamond earrings. "Slugulus Eructo"

Aida entered the ballroom in a long silver and white dragonscale gown, long chiffon tails swirling above a pair of white fawnskin breeches. At the center of the dress’s midsection, prismatic jewels shot off the occasional rainbow as they caught the ambient light. Silvery eye makeup encircled Aida’s blue-violet gaze as it scanned the midsummer celebration’s decorations. Aida had always loved flowers, the more the better, and this ball did not disappoint. On Aida’s shoulder perched the mage’s dance partner, one extra-preened desert tawny owl by the name of Scheherazade. As Aida silently floated across the ballroom floor, taking in the different floral scents and trying to identify each one without looking, Scheherazade observed the other attendees warily. A faint smile skittered across Aida's face as they enjoyed the peace of the moment.

After a minute of simply listening to nearby chatter, Aida wordlessly delivered a large bowl of wild berries, which the mage had plucked by hand, to contribute to the potluck. They weren’t expecting anyone in particular at the ball and freely examined the diverse garment choices of the others around them until deciding to approach the event sign-up area. With a sigh, Aida scrawled their name onto their entry for the firewalking obstacle course. Would Valentin Schnell attend the flying torch tag, they wondered. Aida hardly had as keen of eyes as the young seeker, but immediately after looking up they spotted the blindingly white boy hustling his way through the crowd. Valentin immediately noticed his fellow albino looking at him, and he smiled shyly but did not approach. He clearly had other things going on, considering his serious expression and the fast pace of his stride. Breaking their gaze, Aida nodded. He was clearly doing better after all this time, looking less emaciated and more cheerful than after his mother had passed. Acceptable, concluded Aida.

Should they go out into the courtyard? The mage had heard there would be a crafting bench out there, but then, they were in no hurry to go anywhere... not like Valentin always seemed to be. Scheherazade hooted quietly, feathers ruffling and rustling. The owl did not like the look of the food fight. Aida looked over to where the bird was looking and saw a number of food-soaked people, but did not feel inspired to join in. Instead, Aida’s eyes continued to scan the environment and make a note of who was there. Were there any other animals there, wondered the mage. It was always a joy when someone would bring their animal companion to these events, especially if Aida could play with it.

What was it about these balls that was so thoroughly hollow? All of the glamour of a gala yet none of the prestige. None of the exclusivity provided his date was beneath his arm and not drowning under her tears on the curb outside. It was as much a shell as Levi himself, a pretty paper face cast over a room which the following dawn would be transformed again into the least mundane version of the most mundane chore of life. He could almost apologize for pretending for even a moment that the firework display above was more than a dreary ceiling. He, more than anyone, should know what lies beneath.

And he, more than anyone, should’ve known better than to lean his elbows on Percematt’s crafty-at-best albis. He’d be kicking himself in the teeth until there were none left to lose, and then he’d be starting on his digits. True, one could depend on the constant of Percematt’s existence, torment, but there was a level of chaotic unpredictability as to how he would express himself today. Be, well, himself and his cruel truth, or pretend to be anything else for even a second as to draw in his prey. Winnie was drawn in. He should’ve guessed this facade would fall.

Yes, Percematt had more range than Levi. More methods, a deck of eight aces, a jack of all trades. Levi would lean his head back, pillow his vertebrae in the plush comfort of his own lies, backed by the charm of a smile rather than any sense or sensibility. And it could be guessed, again and again, but that was his strategy, and further the nature of human beings. Forgiveness, pathos, the I-can-fix-him attitude that plagued generation after generation. He paled slightly, as if startled by the fact Percematt was allowed to twist his own lies.

It was something of a first, he urged someone somewhere to cut a ribbon. Percematt, telling the truth, and Levi needing to cling to the falsehoods he’d recently begun to own up to. The good news was, the tree-boy no longer needed to have lied about it to prove his iniquity, it could be a truth and Levi could still remain a victim, but that was only if, just this once, he convinced Winnie that Percematt was not a liar. At least, not about everything.

For now, he’d dodge a greater story. He’d give him nothing, and his date nothing, but perhaps this was a hole he could patch later. The boy rubbed his eye, on the surface an attempt to dry it, but rather attempting to redden the area. “I didn’t hear from Nikita after she met you–strange you’re always the common denominator in my relationship attempts going wrong,” Levi chuckled, breaking the laugh into a sob half a beat through. “Miss me that bad?”

There was a certain craving for violence rising in the back of his throat, a rather unfamiliar urge. Both of them were sending red ink from the top of his eye down, applying pressure on his shoulders that he wasn’t sure how to relieve. Winnie, despite the events of the past many minutes, still gave anything Percematt said any thought. Levi didn’t. Not when it wasn’t true, not when it posed no threat, not like his last remark, an attempt to brush Levi to the side in his own portrait. It was hard to convince a narcissist they didn’t have any bearing on the story. Especially not once he’d pulled Winnie away and felt her lips on his cheek. Pink vines sprawled from that place on his flesh and sank beneath, her religion and a divine title coursing through him now as though she’d crowned him.

Percematt felt something too. Her scripture ripped from his veins perhaps, the lightheadedness of a blood transfusion, the self-pity of a spark extinguished. It wasn’t in his face, not a hand-sewn mask, but the wavering betrayal in his inflection. His announcement, he’d advertised, and Levi’s grip on Winnie tightened ever-so-slightly. He’d reasonably presume Winnie would be sucked back into his vortex for whatever the “special person” was used for.

It didn’t matter now. He was leaving, Winnie was in the brunet’s arms, the invisible print of her lips was stained on him. That was victory enough. He was about to usher his date to the door, allow her to change from the dress that encased her in Pride’s hell fire, but she broke into the moment and said about the worst thing she could possibly say. "Levi… He’s going to die if he enters the Hexwizard.” Yes, nature will start to heal. “We have to stop him. I know you still care about him too, I saw it in your face… it’s okay."

In another life, this is the part of the story where Levi would pull out a dull knife, carve his face off, toss it to the side, and tell her to not worry about that stupid thing anymore. She saw it? Fucking where? He should memorize that micro-expression as it was handy ammo when it was needed, but when it was not, it was a worldly embarrassment and a reason crossed of his will to exist. What she was seeing was, of course, the aged melancholy associated with this ordeal with her. It had to be. Nothing else could extract that sort of authenticity from him, or perhaps she romanced the slight frown of annoyance into a hundred-page dramedy that ended with a kiss in the rain.

He swallowed the words: “I actually couldn't care less and I genuinely hope he is the reason this tournament is barred for another couple decades in misplaced grieving.” Instead he said: “Uh–”

And she went for him.

Why couldn’t he stop her? What was it about her that was so attached to Mathias? She was prose, she was fiercely loyal and dangerously beautiful in an ethereal fashion that no mere man could replicate. Something so consuming, something vaster than the sea to induce yearning for the parts of the universe we don’t deserve. She saw more, and she was more, and she craved pure torture to offset the migraine of utter perfection. Was that it, balance? Was it tiresome to be that transcendental, did the need for a break strike her so she overflowed into the emptiest reserve that walked among them, did it have anything to do with being drugged or would she have drugged herself anyway? The intoxicating combination of pale skin, crystal eyes, ebony hair….

No, no, her hair is red.

He blinked, and Winnie had casted at her lost lover, a flawless spell but a complete miss. Her target was not so unfortunate with his own hand, launching the ginger-haired girl backward with a knockback jinx. Again, Levi drew his wand from his side, wishing he could say he was doing this for the reason he should be. With a completely blank gaze, an almost mechanical undertone to his motions, he uttered the incantation Tarantallegra.”

TL;DR | Levi is having a crisis and trying to figure out how to save face. He casts at Mathias blindly in retribution for the cast at Winnie (probably).
