Surely Piérre must be here.

At least this is my hope as I enter Hogwarts' Great Hall, the place I was first sorted into Gryffindor before being sent to Durmstrang in order to receive better, and safer may I add, education. I have not spoken with my brother in quite a while. I elected to stay at Durmstrang over Christmas Break in order to further my studies. I've been slipping recently, ever since I managed to accelerate myself to the rest of my classmates, and my dropping out of broom racing proved this point greatly.

The scarlet trail of my hooded cloak flutters a bit as I skirt the edges of the main hall, already noting how many people have arrived and have begun to make themselves at home. Perhaps I should start to do the same as well. Messing with a button on the black suit beneath the cloak, I chew my bottom lip as I continue to scan the area, looking for an elusive smaller brother of mine.

I notice that I do stand higher than most other individuals of my age, already almost six foot in hight despite only being the tender age of fourteen. It seems that being of magical bloodline was not enough oddness to have my physical attributes be left well enough alone. For this reason, I stoop for the most part when walking, shoulders a bit forward as I often talk down to my friends. But, who knows, maybe Piérre has had his growth spurt as well.

I do worry for him sometimes. It isn't good for him to go it alone. Even Mathilda worries for him sometimes... He's not acting right usually nowadays.

With a sigh and a smile, I shake my head and gently make my way to the potluck table, pulling from beneath my cloak and under my arm a small basket of breadsticks. Yes, yes, cliché I know. But these are handmade and smothered with butter, garlic, and a smattering of cheese.

Piping hot. I do enjoy cooking and baking. I've discovered I'm getting rather good at it. Not perfect by far... But better.

I leave it where it is, and gingerly connoisseur some of the other things brought to table thus far, looking up just in time to watch my classmate Yefim dump a bowel of punch on another young woman's head.

Oh dear. Not again, dear Yefim. Causing trouble are we? As usual?

I watch from where I stand a few feet down the table, slowly biting down on a chocolate-covered stawberry with one eyebrow raised at the situation. Drawing myself to almost full height, I pin my shoulders back and shift my weight to one side like the curious and unfortunate bystander that I am. My cyan eyes are locked on Yefim specifically, though I do flick between him and the young woman just to make sure nothing terribly overdramatic begins.

But this is Yefim. My hopes are far from being fulfilled.

What have we gotten ourselves into today?

Henry surveyed the area once more, rechecking to ensure each aspect was in place and the group haven't forgotten a detail for the night ahead. To be honest, the lad was considering skipping the ball for a night in with a book but that was before he was part of the group to plan the thing. A activity that took lot from the young introvert but he enjoyed and trusts the others in the group.

Nicky, of course is a friend and fellow boom member so he was gald they did this together. Starlee; a team mate and aomeone Henry always enjoyed helping or conversing with and was glad that they would be handling the same aspects that night. Flash... well the dorm mate isn't his favorite but they haven't argued about Loki or the care of plants yet so there's something. Finally, Aly who the lad was looking forward to get to know more after thay night.

Running the wrinkles from his jacket, Henry considered not dressing up but decided to at least for Adlai Rod. His date. Even the word left a odd sensation in his mouth, holding a pink corsage for the girl as he waited looking at the entrance of the great hall for her or for Logan. Who he told to hit him if he dies ir says anything mental that night, he already imagining that he would.

Looking for the two, one his date and another who he asked to keep him company at the healing corner. The spot where he will remain for majority of the ball with the elder fifth year volunteer.

Loki sitting near him, Henry fiddled wirh the corsage when someone came jp and started speaking... to him? Taken back, the teen offered a soft smile toward Lucia Fox as be replied"Hey, Lucia and last ball actually inspired this." A nod toward the healing tent, after all the broken and damage caused at the last one thead decided to do something for this one, "Aly, Starlee, and I founded the corner with nurse Brumby's help," nodding toward the raven girl's words till he saw her depart for friends.

"Enjoy the night, Lucia and tell Eun-ji that I wish the same for her night as well," Henry called back as he took a seat on a chair in front of the healing corner. Eyes still peeled for the two girls as he waited, tapping his foot aginest the ground wondering how the night will unfold.

AngelFyre and @Simon Kincaid enter the Ball

AngelFyre had to admit, magic did come in handy sometimes. She had pre-arranged for an older student to help her with her hair once she got back from the Rehearsal Room. She had been so focused on getting Simon's surprise set that she probably could have taken more care with the post-surprise details, but for her, and she suspected for Simon, the best part of April 2, 2022 had already taken place for the two.

Looking into the mirror after the older girl had finished her magic, both literally and figuratively, AngelFyre was more than pleased. She hoped Simon would be. AngelFyre had been brought up well, knew her manners, was taught to be polite, and had been groomed, or let us say, her mother had attempted to groom her, into a poised, refined young lady. AngelFyre had balked at these attempts to the extent she could, but now seeing herself in a ball gown and realizing she was about to meet her handsome dat boyfriend, **eeep** AngelFyre said a quick prayer that her stubborn brain had retained more than some of what her mother had tried impart.

Scanning the overall effect one last time: makeup -- natural but flawless, check; jewelry -- simple ruby studded earrings, her gold cross on a chain around her neck, and her claddagh ring with heart tip pointed towards her heart , check. Hair -- in a soft, beautiful uptwist with pale peachy and dusty pink roses anchored in for longevity and a night of dancing, check. Her pumps were beautiful but completely hidden by the voluminous folds of her dress. Did not matter, she knew they were lovely and bonus! They would make her just about Simon's height.

She grabbed her wand and placed it in the wand sheath strapped to her calf. Not the most convenient place to have to reach for it in an emergency, but it was a Ball. Why would she need it anyway, right?

She grabbed her champagne handbag with its golden chain and left to meet Simon. They had agreed to meet at the entrance of the Great Hall instead of at the Rehearsal Room, and she did not want him waiting on her too long.

As she was nearing the ground floor landing, she saw him waiting for her at the base of the stairs. When he first saw her, he stood a little more erect and AngelFyre blushed more pink into her cheeks when he mouthed the words, "You look beautiful," and then placed both of his hands over his heart. The moment was just perfect.

As she navigated the last few steps, he moved directly in front of her and took a gallant bow. When he straightened up, his eyes met hers and all was right in the world in that moment. He turned about 45 degrees to his side and offered his arm, allowing hers to link with his. As she happily obliged him, her palm was now resting on his forearm and he placed his other hand on top hers. "Would you care to join me for an evening of dancing, Miss McCubbin?"

She smiled dreamily at him and said softly, "Indeed I would, Mr. Kincaid," at which time he escorted her into the beautifully decorated Great Hall. It looked stunning. It smelled even moreso. The room was decked in flowers of all sorts and their combined perfumes was rather heady. As AngelFyre and Simon moved deeper into the room, he stopped them at one point so they could just marvel at the fireworks display going on over their heads.

Lovely as it was, it was not nearly as beautiful as the firework display going off in her own private world while standing in a glorious Great Hall, on the arm of her Simon Kincaid.

Logan sighed as she glanced up at Sherlock, perched quietly on her bed, glaring down at his owner. The Hufflepuff had given the cranky cat a set of butterfly wings to wear to match his owners flower dress. A giggle left the girl's mouth as she gently slipped on the her second shoe. She had made the decision to bring Sherlock along with her, thinking Henry may have brought Loki with him and they would both need someone to play with while they were there. "It is not that bad Sherlock," she giggled as she walked over to were the cat was sitting and ran her hand down his back.

The Hufflepuff was wearing a flower dress. The top a green tank top with vines swirling across it and the skirt was made of large pink flower petals. She was also wearing leggings with vines and flowers winding up them. The girl was going for almost a pixie look, just without the wings. Her shoes were a pair of old ballet shoes she no longer fit and she not longer needed now that she had moved to pointe. The brunettes hair was wrapped in a bun with a green band and a flower that matched her skirt. Sitting on the flower as a magical moth, a gift form Henry that could fly around at the girl's command. Logan had gone all out for this ball and she hoped it turned out better than the rest of them.

"Come on Sherlock or we are going to be late," she called out gently to the cat as she grabbed her wand off the bedside stand and slipped it into the small pocket sewn into the skirt of her dress. She heard the tapping of the cat's feet as he followed his owner out of the dorm and slowly out of the common room. Now they just need to make their way to the Great Hall.

The girl loved the room as soon as she stepped in and been distracted until she saw her best friend out of the corner of her eye. Sherlock must have noticed his best friend as well because he looked at his owner for a split second before taking off to the corner and attempting to tackle the orange feline. Logan followed close behind her hyper cat, laughing softly as she grinned at her best friend. "Have you embarrassed yourself yet Charm?" she questioned, knowing it was one of the main reasons she was there.

Trix made some last-minute adjustments to their clothing and walked into the Great Hall, holding a pot full of Irish Stew. They hoped everyone would like the food they brought. The hall was brilliantly decorated overwhelming Trix's eyes. The flowers made the Great Hall smell delightful, and Trix took in a deep breath through their nose. The gentle, floral scent comforted them. They went over to the food tables and put their dish down.

Being a little self-conscious about wearing formal attire, Trix walked a bit stiffly as they entered the Great Hall. They were there to meet Emma and they knew that they wouldn't feel so self-conscious when Emma was with them. 'I bet she even tells me I look good!' Trix thought optimistically. They once again adjusted their regalia, the tag on the pants was digging into their skin and causing them some discomfort. Why couldn't they wear normal clothes? But to be honest, it was nice to dress up all fancy and dance the night away.

Still not seeing Emma yet, they decided to check out the signup sheets for the different games. Reading through both, they decided to sign up for the game of Flying Torch Tag. They loved flying and fire, so the idea of both of those coming into one made their heart race. Neatly, they wrote their name down on the signup sheet and hoped they wouldn't embarrass themselves too much. After putting down their name, the walked over to the entrance to wait for Emma.

𝕲etting a bit bored of waiting for Faye to show up as the time ticked by, Regina exhaled through her nose as she tried to keep her patience in check. She reasoned that perhaps her date was simply having trouble getting ready, as it was the Ravenclaw's first ever wizarding event. She was probably at a loss and Regina found herself wishing she'd helped Faye get ready and arrived together at the Blossom Ball instead of coming here first.

It was no matter, as she didn't mind staying in her little corner and observing the room getting gradually filled with guests from all of the six schools, her hand reaching out for a cup of punch and taking a small experimental sip. Thank Merlin the drinks weren't spiked...for now at least. Regina knew that at grandiose events like this, something was bound to go wrong one way or another. It had practically become Hogwarts' trademark by now. The Miller Heiress was momentarily glad that she'd chosen to take her wand with her, strapped tightly inside its holster around her right thigh underneath her ballgown. Should any kind of danger present itself, she wouldn't be unarmed.

Regina never expected the 'something going wrong' would come in the form of being splashed from the top of her head with the very same punch she was drinking from.

Had she been one of those overdramatic girls, maybe she would have screamed bloody murder and started crying over how her hair and gown were ruined because someone had decided to pick her as a victim to satisfy their childish bullying urge. But Regina was not that girl. No, her shoulders were tense and her orchid purple eyes were dagger-sharp as her head jerked around to identify the imbecile who had the audacity to ruin her image in front of the entire attendance of the ball, coming to face with a dark-haired boy and mocking green eyes. The audacity.

Her Pureblood upbringing compelled her to take the high road and leave to do damage control.

Her Gryffindor instincts compelled her to retaliate.

"How dare you?"

With lightning sharp reflexes, Regina spun around and grabbed the nearest plate on the table--some sort of Scottish soup with smoked haddock, potatoes and leek--and smashed it right in the perpetrator's face, watching with a burning dark satisfaction as the food dripped down to his expensive blue shirt. She could have left right then and used her magic to Scourgify the mess that was on herself to save face, but Regina stepped forward and gave the boy a withering glare, her lips curling back into a snarl and twisting her beautiful features--a silent challenge. The ravenette was a Lion, and she was determined to not let whoever this cretin was intimidate her.

Emma smoothed down the dress she had begged her mother for after finding out about the ball, and that she would be one of the organizer’s. She hadn’t felt that any of the admittedly few dresses she had would fit with the theme very well, and had stumbled across this in a magazine she had found. It hadn’t taken much, as Emma very rarely asked for anything and her mum was happy that she was actually asking for something.

Emma flitted around the Great Hall, fixing the little imperfections she came across and trying to work up the courage to speak to other students, but she was too nervous that something would go wrong or she would say the wrong thing. Not to mention she was also nervous for the event she would be running later, Flying Torch Tag. Emma had gone over and over the rules and what she would do if they were broken, not to mention her thoughts on how best to keep track of points until her brain was tired and ready to sleep. But still she had had a bad dream or two about exactly that happening.

Realizing that everything was fine and she could relax for the moment or at least try to relax, she recalled that she had said she would meet Trix once the Ball opened. That brought her comfort as hopefully it would serve as a distraction and Emma also hadn’t wanted to have been alone all night, flitting around and trying to fix non-existent flaws.

Taking a breath, she turned and bit her lip, trying to figure out where would be best to find them. Deciding that she would start at the entrance, she quickly caught sight of her friend. Letting out a breath, she walked over and tapped them on the shoulder. ”Hey! Glad you’re here. I’ve been doing pointless things for the past little bit for no reason than nerves. How are you enjoying things so far? Or did you just get here?” Emma cut her ramble off, blushing slightly at the word vomit she had thrown at Trix.

For one of the first times in her hollow, lonely life, Faye Cosette Simmons was about to attend a social event, which made her scared. No, was scared the right word? Or was it petrified? But, why did she feel like the earth could swallow her up and she would quite happily say thank you? Oh yes, that’s it! The unknown horrors of socialising.

For the uneducated, let me explain. You may feel anxious going to a friendly get together or a small party, but for somebody like Faye, she would rather watch paint dry in the safe, stimulating environment of her room than do such a thing. It would take time to describe how the girl was different from a ‘normal’ person, so instead I shall just inform you that she is, in fact, quite different from an able-bodied, neurotypical person.

Faye, sweetie, come on, it’s just a small get together with some of my friends. You know Bea and Katie, don’t you?

Those had been her mother’s words when she was six, after she had started crying at the idea of the loud, noisy atmosphere of the local pub, being forced to sit whilst her mother chatted with her friends. It was all too much for Faye to handle, even with the reassurance that it wouldn’t even be that crowded. But still, the overwhelming experience was not one she wanted to, well, experience.

Faye, come on, it’s just a ball. With tons of people attending that you don’t know. People from different schools. It’s not that big of a deal. Actually it is, but at least Regena will be there! You know Regena, don’t you? Your best friend!

Now slightly altered, the message ran through her head again as she walked down the Hogwarts corridors. Many times she had spun around on her heels and tried to walk back to her common room, only to turn around again and continue walking to her destination. She had gotten a lot of weird looks for her strange pacing.

Dressed in the magenta flower-clad ball gown, Faye felt awfully dressed up. I mean, the transparent tulle cloak literally trailed along the stone floor. Even though the dress was truly beautiful, she couldn’t help but feel like she was the wrong person to be wearing it. She wasn’t the posh, rich witch that Regina was, only the weird, half-a-witch from Derry with the weird accent and sunny personality. Sure, it was a gift, and she was so grateful for her bestie to have given it to her, but she would have been more comfortable with something less, fancy.

Of course, since she wasn’t exactly fluent in the language of ballroom attire, (she had received a lesson from Regina about etiquette, but she had been too busy wondering about her orchid eyes rather than listening, she probably only absorbed about 45% of the knowledge) underneath her dress she wore a pair of white, rainbow embellished trainers. Due to the untimely demise of her favourite yellow ones, she had had to bust out the rainbows. The Ravenclaw only owned around three pairs of shoes, including her school shoes! She didn’t own formal ones!

Was she shaking? She didn’t feel like she was shaking. Faye had never had to go to a event as big as this, so she didn’t know what really to expect from her brain. Would it embrace the chaos or shut down completely? The Ravenclaw stood in the entrance to the Great Hall, marvelling at all the decorations that had been put up for the Ball. However, the school banners just stood to remind her how many other people would be there, which made her legs buckle, grasping onto a wall to keep herself from keeling over. Come on, you can do this, Faye. You can’t disappoint your best friend.

Her eyes darted warily throughout the gathering crowds, desperately trying to spot her date. It took her a while until she saw the Gryffindor in a corner, and was about to make her way over when she watched, in shock, as an unknown boy dumped a bowl of liquid on her. This would have been amusing if
1. This wasn’t Regina Miller, her bestie in the whole world.
2. Her nerves weren’t stopping her from being her usual, excitable self.

Making her way through the gaggles of students, not stopping to say excuse me, just giving squeaks, Faye made her way towards her date. However, before she got there, she watched as Regina diligently threw soup into the boy’s face. The Ravenclaw gave a snort, the first bit of her personality creeping in. Regina sure knew how to be cool.

She moved further until she stopped in front of her date, an emotionless pout on her face.

“Hey.” It was almost like a whisper, an airy, breathless speech that was nothing like the girl at all. If she was herself, she would already be throwing herself at Regina, but something was wrong.

The tall frame of an anxious first year stepped through the doors to the Great Hall, a movement made many times before but only now seen as truly frightening. There were many people, something Edme would have been able to brush over if it weren't for all their different outfits and styles and beauty.

She herself wore a long, dark brown dress that almost flooded out onto to the ground, cut off just around her heels so that if they tried to walk up stairs, tripping would be easy. Over the top was a patterned brown blazer buttoned up carefully, thankfully not sporting any wrinkles as it was nicely ironed. They had contemplated just wearing the same signature shoes to this event, but had settled on wearing a fresh pair of new doc martens. A single clip was placed to the side of her hair.

The Great Hall's decor was impressive, bringing up the question of how the staff always managed a new fashion for each special occasion. Anyone could appreciate the clever representation of the different schools.

Edme hadn't really considered bringing anything food-related, but still felt a bit bad for not even thinking about sharing. There was enough there anyways, right? The smells that wafted from the tables labeled "potluck" were alluringly pleasant.

The Ravenclaw scanned the room for Vienna, still a bit surprised that she had landed going with anyone at all. It was nice to have someone they knew attending with her. Their search came up fruitless, and she settled on awkwardly trying to make their way through the crowds of people, weaving around big dresses and fancy suits. Loud perfume mixed with pricey cologne.

Continuing the search, she tried not to bump into anyone, especially not the wildly intimidating higher years, or even a prefect. They would never be able to live that down, not in a million years.

Adelaide was not particularly sure why she had bothered to show up to the Blossom Ball. She was not that thrilled or excited to be attending, and would much rather be up in her dorm, doing some extra studying, but her mother had sent her quite a rather breathtaking dress accompanied with a 'You better attend the ball!' letter that sounded more like a threat than a suggestion.

So, this is why Adelaide now found herself entering the Great Hall. The decorators had really outdone themselves, she had to admit, and it seemed it was going to be a hopefully good night, but there was a slight issue. She had no one to go with, and she was also unsure if any of her friends were attending. Last time she went to the Fall Ball, she had mostly stayed on her own, not bothering to delve into anyone's drama. She had not recognized anyway and surprisingly, she couldn't spot any of her friends in the crowd and was unsure whether they had even attended, so the Fall Ball for her was quite uneventful. She expected this ball to be the same.

The blonde entered, immediately making her way over to the food tables. If she was going to do anything here, it was enjoy the free food. She definitely would not be signing up for any of the games, and she eyed the Goblet of Fire stood in the center of the room warily. The Ravenclaw wasn't sure why anyone in their right mind would sign up for the Hexwizard Tournament, especially knowing what happened at the last one. There was a reason it had been cancelled.

A commotion caught her attention, and her gaze was brought to a boy and a girl seemingly arguing or having some sort of disagreement. She sighed disapprovingly as the girl smashed a bowl of soup into the boy's face. Adelaide did not know the reason why, but she was quite upset at the waste of food. The ball hadn't even been on for that long, and there was already a fight? Why was she here again?
