What the actual hell? There was cheating going on! The outrage was evident on Arjan's face as he heard the names and saw the statues pop up. The first guy - the one for Hogwarts - looked like he was not human. He definitely was not a pureblood, at the very least. Wait- he knew him- Falentra Black. He quirked his eyebrow before rolling his eyes. Right. Fal's weirdo ex-boyfriend. He had met him at camp. Ugh. Was he really the best Hogwarts had to offer? That was... disappointing. How was there no one better than him? Clearly, no one else had applied. Falentra herself would have been a far better choice!

He was pretty okay with the Beauxbatons champion selection though. Mostly because he recognised her as the hot chick that he smooched quite a bit over camp last year. What outraged him was the next school though...

The champion for Durmstrang is...

Arjan immediately ran his hand through his hand, flicking out the remaining crumbs and sorted out his collar a little as he immediately started to walk towards the headmaster - clearly wanting to get up on stage and make a grand 'thank you, thank you'.

But the name that was said was not his. What in the name of Stribog was this bullshit? It was a scam! Yefim must have cheated! Someone clearly removed his name! There was no way that Arjan did not get it. Arjan was clearly the superior choice. Ugh. What sort of stupidity was this? This was utter crap! The outrage was evident on Arjan's expression as he snarled at this.

In truth, Arjan stopped listening after the announcement of the Durmstrang champion. It was not him. There had to be some sort of mistake. This little punk clearly cheated. Ughhh. Durmstrang would lose if he was not their champion. He was the future winner of the Hexwizard Tournament - how in the name of Stribog could he not be in the tournament?! This was wrong.

He smacked his hand down on the table near him, horribly outraged by the whole thing. "Ugh, screw this bullshit," He mumbled to himself fuming as he recalled there were other people around and he had to look 'presentable'. It was hard being him. People constantly kept watching him. He had to control his emotions - at least outwardly - for that reason and maintain the family's reputation, since his sister definitely was hellbent on ruining it with her association with the scum of this school. This whole thing was nonsense.

He exhaled, glancing over to his date as he tried to muster an expression that masked his anger. His jaw grit together a little, it was still evident in his eyes. However, he tried to calm himself and hide it. He needed a distraction. The flying tag torch seemed perfect. Maybe if he went and burned everyone else's flags and broke their stupidly ugly faces, he would feel better about this outrage. Clearly, he had to go have a word with the headmistress after this. How dare the goblet pick a fool to be the Durmstrang champion? It was rigged! There was absolutely no way. It was rigged so that Durmstrang would lose, that much was clear to him now. Hogwarts - or the headmaster of Ilvermorny - must have done something. Probably Hogwarts, given who their champion was. Pathetic.

So pathetic. He fumed in anger. "Shall we? We have some shitheads to beat," Arjan announced to her, offering his arm if she wanted to take it. Either way, he turned and started to make his way to the flying torch tag without hesitation. He no longer wanted to be here. First, some shithead tried to ruin his hair and clothes, throwing a pastry at him and now someone cheated the system to take away his championship and force his pride and joy - his school - to lose?! This was disgusting. Hogwarts was cheating. He just needed to calm down to find a way to prove it.

Heading out of the celebration, whether Ami was with him or not, Arjan made his way to the flying torch tag in a huff. He tried to outwardly look calm but there were definitely some subtle differences in his posture, the way he walked with determination and the look in his eyes that gave away his true feelings. He had not learned to mask his emotions as well as he would have hoped. Oh wells, time to go beat some little punks!

interacts Henri de Bourbon (@Regina Miller)
“That’s fair.” she agreed. “Hogwarts is - um, rather special, I guess. I think it serves as something in between, not exactly artistic nor ‘dark’, like what they say.” she remarked, rather thoughtfully. Remembering that she wasn’t here for a magical school analysing event, she smiled at Henri with a conclusive nod. “Anyway, I’m glad to hear that you enjoy your time here.”

She took another small sip, while raising her head up to face Henri. The blond boy was sure possessing the charming characteristics usually being seen in Beauxbatons students, and obviously he was, like the rest of his schoolmates, a delightful person to be around with. She was…a bit charmed, she had to admit. This was her third Hogwarts ball she had ever attended, and she had to say that they had all left her indelible impressions. Though she really wasn’t in a mood of recalling the past, at least for now - practical as she was, Lindsey would prefer to focus on the present. Chocolate brown eyes flashed towards her date, and delight of socialising sparkled in the irises.

Henri seemed in a good mood as well, or at least she thought so. Lindsey slightly tilted her head towards the boy while finishing munching the biscuit - very tasty, as she had already stated - when he started commenting that she had a sweet voice. His wink made her shudder slightly, when she finally comprehended what he meant.

Flirtations. Be aware.

Almost immediately she made up her mind not to be completely taken away by flirtations, and she put on guard. Like, when she defended herself from endless flatteries in her earlier years, flirtations were known not to work on her. However, there was something she probably wouldn’t tell others - persistence was the key.

Though… even though she often took care not to be overwhelmed by flatteries, the words were satisfying, she had to admit. She was afraid to be taken over, but deep in her heart she was eager for such comments. “Actually…” she started, with difficulty. A blush slowly emerged, and uncertainty showed in her voice for once. She was about to say something, something to have her free from flirts, but…

CRASH.

She didn’t have the chance.

Nearly dropping the glass to the floor, she immediately jumped up swiftly to avoid being hit by a rolling hot pot. Evading several crashing over cupcakes, she managed to perform the actions nimbly. As soon as the food stopped crashing down from the table and food started coating the floor, she would eye the sticky liquid with disgust. Almost immediately her eyes were lifted from the floor and went searching for the criminal who caused all these - but they had fled the scene, at least had hidden themselves somewhere in the crowd.

“Oh bother…” she gasped, voice shaking slightly with anger. Who? Who did all these? A Hogwarts student? And the purpose of the crime? Merely to lose face for their honoured balls? Her fingers reached her wand and drew it out, blood rushing up to her cheeks. “I hope you are alright?” managing to control her impulse of murdering the cursed one and calming herself down, she inquired Henri rather affectionately. Leaning over to put her glass down on a spare spot, she turned back to the boy. “Let’s first flee this place and then clean ourselves up, perhaps?” the lower part of her dress and her shoes were coated with disgusting liquids, and she was eager to clean them up as soon as possible. Being usually neat and clean, she couldn’t stand that obviously.

If Henri agreed with her, she would agilely take the lead and head for the other side of the hall. Concealing her stained dress behind the crowd and making sure that they wouldn’t be easily seen, she raised her wand up. Lindsey drew herself nearer to Henri, and pointed her wand at their stained clothes. The spell was mostly directed towards Henri, but Lindsey tried to keep the two close and put herself in range as well. “Scourgify.” she whispered, while drawing the wand movement out.

If Henri and herself were both in range and the spell worked, a cheery smile would appear on her face. “This would be far better.” she remarked, and gave her companion a cheerful nod. “Any activities you are interested in doing now?”

If she was not in range and only Henri could be cleaned by the charm, she would watch Henri’s stained clothes and shoes being cleaned with a satisfied smile and a little pride shining in her eyes. “Done!”

The sun was setting across the hills of the Scotland highlands. The night continued to be a full swing of events, running smoothly besides the occasional student drama or fight. The young teen nodded at the attendance and event, thinking quietly to himself that the event was going well. Not a single fire emerged or tent fallen.

The teen found himself softly smiling toward Adlai and Logan. Surprisingly, he was enjoying himself at the ball with the two and to think thay he was considering skipping the event that night. Eyes gazing over Adlai, her dress and eyes glimmering with the fireworos above. Something about her felt different. Felt right. Glad thay she said yes, glad to be ablento dance with her.

He didn't forget about Logan but he seen his best friend nearly everyday. Still, he admitted that she did look beautiful thay night and her dress amazing. Something about her allowed him to feel comfortable. To feel safe. Glad thay she was there to, a support for the subject is he messes up or flusters.

Glad to be there with the two and not the worst dancer... still not the best when the champions for the hexwizard were called to be announced. Looking over at the goblet as he looked at the two, mainly Adlai since he knew of Logan's to the question as he spoke"did you put your name into the goblet, Adlai?" Watching the man who he wagered his the headmaster for Ilvermorny announced the champions starting with hogwarts.

Henry felt himself squeeze Logan's hand unintentionally as the paper flew from the goblet then announced... Howard White... the dhampir? Henry thought for a moment then spoke"I think Howard is rather a good champion, maybe he could prove halfbreeds are better than what some think," the other champions were announced. The lad didn't reslly recognize the names of them until the reached Mahoutokoro. Mathias Pride? Wait why did that name sound familiar....

The champions were announced and the teen looked over at the two as he spoke"anything you two want to do? There's something in the courtyard to see or we can stay here," the teen waited for their answers his ears perked up at the sounds of shouts and spells. Eyes flashing over the durmstrang group emerged in a bawl witu Selim? The dorm mate who seemed to have his mind elsewhere with a small frame? Turning back toward the two when he suddenly jumped back halfstep at the sight of the potluck table flipping and food falling around.

Well it wasn't a fallen tent but was still something. The teen eyed the destruction a bit sadden of the work they did now in pieces, he hoped Flash wasn't havinf anh problems at the festival but couldn't be sure seeing the size of the durmstrang could outmeasure them anyday.

The teen aimed his wand, casting the cleaning spell at the food of the potluck to clean the mess before turning back towsrd the two girl's as Loki bat at Sherlock's ears.

Santario willingly accepted his hand and sighed from his less than respectful behaviour towards the other students. She was probably sick of drama right now, and he could blame her. Both of them had been stuck with a slug inside of them for months, all they wanted was that bit of peace back into their lives.

Guiding her to a good spot on the dance floor he raised his upper body back up and watched San reply with a half courtesy, an indication they were both ready to dance the night away. Percival walked up to San and placed a hand on her hip, carefully locking hands with her to show off the more traditional stance to dancing compared to some who were crazily freestyling dance moves he has never seen before. Looking into her eyes, he smiled light as they moved smoothly around the floor "Of course, who isn't?" he said back, even though it was safe to say he wasn't as hyped compared to the rest.

Turning his head slightly to witness food going into the air, he soon shook his head and rested his attention back on the main girl in his life. His cheeks seemed to blush when she commented how good he looked, something of which widened his rare smile "Thank you San... I was going to say the same about you but I'm sure you already know how beautiful you are" the boy said back, slightly nuzzling his nose with hers with a small chuckle.

He seemed even more happy when San asked if she could stay with him this Easter, something of which he was meaning to ask himself "San, you are welcome anytime. Believe it or not I discussed it with my parents awhile back about staying with us and they had no objections at all. They are actually quite interested to meet you, especially my mother." Gray replied joyfully, his upbeat tone seemingly pleased that the girl wanted to spend more time with him.

Just as he was about to say something else, the announcement for the champions soon started. Percival slowly came to a halt and glared over to the announcer, who thankfully started with Hogwarts first. Not long later, a more than familiar name reached their ears in unison... @Howard White . The boy he respected was someone who was sure to be a good captain, and he had no doubt he'd bring glory to Hogwarts.

"Howard... that is a fine choice. I will have to speak with him about the possibility of joining the team" he said when he turned back to San with a reassuring smile "It's something I need to do for myself, I don't care about the glory it brings" Gray said with a more lowered tone, his eyes looking hurt slight as a hand slowly raised back up.

"Care to continue, my orchid?"

Trix put a hand on Emma's shoulder, smiling. "You worked hard to make this happen, it's okay!" They felt self-conscious about touching Emma. They didn't know if she was okay with them touching her. They took their hand back. "Um, I just mean that you shouldn't worry about it! You are awesome!" Blushing, they finally lowered their hand.

When Mandy put the kitty on their lap, they squealed in delight. "OOH MY GOODNESS!! She's so sweet!" They stroked the kitty from head to tail, making sure to scratch the little creature's cheek. "You are so lucky, Mandy! I want a kitty so bad! I can't wait until mum and dad get me a kitty cat." Completely abandoning their food, they continued to pet the purring furball. Trix was sad when Mandy took her back but smiled all the same. Even a short kitty visit was a good kitty visit.

When Emma excused herself to get dressed for Torch Tag, Trix and Mandy were left alone. They felt like there were butterflies trapped in their tummy. They looked up, seeing that Mandy was looking back at them. They blushed and looked away. They felt a tingle of embarrassment for a reason they didn't understand. They didn't know why, but being with Mandy was... Hard. But, not a bad hard! A kind of pressure on their heart that they didn't understand. They wanted to touch her face. She looked so beautiful, but that would be weird, so they didn't act on the urge.

Realizing they were staring at Mandy without answering her question, Trix cleared their throat. "Right-o! We should get out there." But Mandy's question threw them off balance. 'She wants to hold MY hand?' They nodded and awkwardly reached out their hand. "You don't need to be scared! We can work together, I'll make sure you don't get burned!" and with that, they walked hand in hand to the courtyard to start Torch Tag.

Aaron saw several familiar faces in the crowd as he made his way around the hall, but none of them belonged to the Ravenclaw he was seeking. Aly was probably waiting in the courtyard. Just as he pivoted on his heel to head in that direction, he heard a booming voice. The third-year didn't immediately recognize it, but that was to be expected considering when he turned to the goblet in the middle of the room, he realized it was one of the visiting headmasters speaking. Professor Plott if he recalled correctly. The Headmaster of Ilvermorny.

This was it. The champion announcement. Aaron's brown eyes glanced to the doors leading outside, then back to the goblet. He could spare a few moments just to hear the Hogwarts champion, right? Oh he really wished Aly was here now so they could listen together - she knew he had submitted his name into the goblet just this past week. He cursed himself for not arriving and finding her sooner, but he stayed rooted to the spot for now. The fourteen-year-old cast his full attention to Headmaster Plott. Hogwarts would be announced first, then Aaron would find Aly. No matter the outcome, she's the one he'd want to discuss it with first.

As the Goblet of Fire spit out a piece of parchment, Aaron felt a lump form in his throat. Could everyone else hear how loud his heartbeat was? What if he actually was chosen as champion? Would everyone be like "Who's that random kid and why does he deserve it?" Would they boo him? Would they cheer? Would anyone other than his fellow third years even know his name?

"The champion of Hogwarts is... Howard White!"

Aaron let out a breath he didn't realize he had been holding. A mix of both disappointment and relief flooded through him. Disappointed to not be chosen, but at the same time relived not to have Hogwarts' entire reputation on his shoulders. It was a confusing turn of events. He automatically clapped with the rest of the room and tried to bury his slight dismay as he looked around to see if he could spot the Hogwarts student of the hour, but couldn't find him. Overall Aaron was happy for Howard - they had not interacted much, but they had been on the same Quidditch team for a little while. And they were both Hufflepuffs, so there was a strong sense of Hufflepuff pride going on in Aaron's mind as he thought about the Hogwarts champion. But there was still that slight sadness...

Aaron turned away as the rest of the schools' champions were announced, once again determined to find his companion for the evening. Even if he had not been chosen as champion, Aaron still had an important task ahead of him. His first date.
TL;DR: Listening to the champion announcement, applauding the chosen ones while experiencing brief disappointment, then leaving the area to find his date

"Damn, gurl, are you sure you're not straight?" Ami could only roll her eyes in half-hearted exasperation as she elbowed Arjan gently in the arm. Okay, so maybe he could be a little douche-y at times... but at least it was a genuine compliment, which she had quickly learned was fairly rare. They both understood that the two of them would never have any romantic chemistry, so Ami was confident that the one-sided flirting was simply his way of attempting to be nice, which she appreciated.

Arjan continued to talk some smack about how baller the two of them were (which she absolutely agreed with), hyping them both up in a way that Ami was growing increasingly familiar with. She began to zone out slightly, nodding along to whatever he was spewing when she suddenly heard the sound of something squelchy and Arjan cussing. She glanced over at her date and almost burst out laughing at the sight of him covered in crumbs and chocolate. She managed to stifle her laughter, however, as Arjan clearly look peeved beyond words, and tsked sympathetically as he took out a compact to inspect the damage.

"Oh, come here," she hummed in a motherly tone, reaching over to brush the remaining crumbs out of his hair. The Durmstrang student was obviously irritated by the sudden culinary attack, but she patted him on the shoulder and whispered in his ear, "They're not worth the time or energy, man. Just move past it." At the same time, her eyes were also combing through the crowd to see if she could spot the assailants. If she ever got her hands on them... How dare they attack her date like that? Gosh, kids these days!

Ami grabbed the quill from Arjan and hastily scribbled her name down for the Flaming Torch Tag while a hubbub in the distance began to brew. It appeared that the champions for the Hexwizard Tournament, which Ami had very little interest in being a part of, were being announced, and Arjan was clearly expecting his own name to be announced for Durmstrang. When a different student's name was announced, however, Ami winced as he slammed his hand on the table. There was no love lost between her and Yefim, whom she recalled was the boy who had gotten into a fight with the Hufflepuff quidditch team over a year ago. Clearly, tonight was not Arjan's night, although hopefully some mild and facilitated violence at the minigame would be enough to allow him to blow off some steam. She put a gentle hand on his shoulder as she grimaced sympathetically, the expression accompanied by a what-can-you-do? shrug. "Tough, man. You'll get it next time," she said in an attempt to cheer him up, although she was more than well aware that consolation wasn't exactly her strong suit.

Arjan offered an arm to her, which she took, and the pair made their way over to the Flying Torch Tag.

It seemed that I had ducked away from the fray just in the nick of time, as a spell whistled by me and was redirected into a powerful knockback into the ground beside the table...

Oh the table.

Poor thing was nearly bashed to pieces by all the violence inflicted on it so far. Not that it should have come as a surprise to me at this point.
It seemed that intense influxes of emotion and aggression ran through Hogwarts not terribly unlike blood through an artery; it had a life of its own.

Shrinking back from the wreckage a bit with a start of surprise, I recovered quickly and tried to reassess my position and a plausible position for my brother. I had to get out of this area as soon as possible, before something truly terrible occurred.

So I did the only thing that struck me as a likely way to locate my twin.

I looked for eyes turned my way, attracted to the fray of disarray and dissention. The distraction which would draw a curious eye, or perhaps a very paranoid one.

And I saw it.

A suit of white with a cloak of green. Under the hood a very familiar face peered with awe at the destruction before locking eyes with me for a split second and then trying to avert his gaze before attempting to rush away

As if it were fate itself.

A lot happened insofar as sudden sound was concerned. So much so that the poor Piérre nearly leapt out of his shoes when magic started getting tossed around and blows were being thrown about. What else had he expected of a supposedly formal occasion, though? It wasn't a Hogwarts party without either fighting, fire, or both.

So when the potluck table received the brunt of the violence directly and caused a general mess of breakage and tossed food, naturally Piérre's eye was drawn to the epicenter of strife. Couldn't there ever be a moment of peace? At least Figaro had an eye on Romeo; or at least Piérre hoped he did. That would provide him with at least a little bit of a warning system just in case Romeo did try to get close or somehow sneak up on him.

That hope was swiftly dashed when green eyes locked with cyan, and Piérre felt his heart jump into his throat as he recognized a very familiar face, a certain Romeo who was dressed in almost perfect inverse of his own outfit; because of course fate was a fickle thing. And only Fate would allow a twist this rude.

His eyes snapped away quickly and Piérre tried to quickly spin on his heel and make a track towards the exit of the Great Hall. He wanted out. Now, if possible. Figaro would be collected later. He had to save his own skin first for the time being.

Pushing gently past other people on the outskirts with mumbled apologies and genuine embarrassment, Piérre found to his chagrin that in a rather cliche fashion the groupings of partygoers were hindering his movements far more than he would have liked.

One clump was so stubborn that Piérre finally had to shouldercheck a person in order to push past (free claim for anyone). He was only half listening to the people being named for the Hexwizard Tourney, but the boy heard enough to know that he had not been selected, and not had Romeo.

At least his brother had that much common sense.

After a final push which caused the boy to teeter off balance and spin him around, Piérre was ready to keep running for the exit when he ran into someone or something very solid.

He was about to shout an apology in surprise and quiet bashfulness, when he noticed the inverted costume compared to his own, and how much taller this figure was...

Until Piérre was looking into the cerulean eyes of one Romeo Marchonné.

The geminis looked at each other up and down, one with surprise and relief, and one with a mixture of fear and hatred. Both of them were silent, before the taller one abashedly crossed his arms with nervousness and then laughed with uncertainty.

"Piérre. Long time no see!" He scratched the back of his neck. "I... I missed you, dude."

The green-clad boy only stared blankly up at his brother, fingers twitching at his side. “... Yeah. Missed you... too.” There was no effort in the statement to make it sound genuine. He bit his cheek to bite back initial thoughts on the situation. Here they were at last. Face to face, and no way to hide.

Romeo smiled. "You never responded to any of my letters. I thought maybe you had started picking up books for once." The taller boy jested lightly, his voice quiet. Obviously this had not been the interaction that he had been hoping for.

“I was... Preoccupied.” Piérre replied in a tone no louder than a whisper. “Thinking... About... Things. About our relationship and such.” He lazily slurred the last sentence, ending it with an upward vocal flourish.

Romeo gave him a strange look. "Oh? And what about our relationship? Something concerning you lately?"

“No, no. Just remembering the good old days. When you abandoned me without warning and left me to my own devices. You know, the year that everything started going to shit." Green eyes narrowed viciously.

The tall boy in red laughed again, this time with concern as his brow creased with confusion. "Wh-what? Piérre, you know I didn't abandon you. I just... I didn't want to worry you."

“So you snuck out and worried me sick and then apologizes after the damage had been done? Yeah, cuz that's considerate. Considerate like you always are. A perfect scholar like you, huh?" Piérre took a step closer, feeling his hackles rise.

Romeo tensed as well, feeling his left hand ball up before pointing back at Piérre. "Don't you dare bring up my academics. You have no idea how hard I've worked this far in order to be here right now. I came here to reunite with my brother, not to have a petty argument."

Piérre suddenly cackled at the thought. “A petty argument?! That's what my concerns are to you? A petty disagreement?! I ask myself every day what I did wrong to have the series of events that I've had happen to me happen, and a part of me can't stop thinking that if you had been here, it would not have happened.” The Jester curled and uncurled his fingers as well, looking down so as not to meet the gaze of his brother.

Romeo was silent for a moment before he placed a hand on Piérre's shoulder. "I remember everything you've told me. I'm sorry that you felt that way. But... That was why I felt I had to leave. I knew you had to make a step away from me in order to grow up as a successful person. I mean... Look at you." Romeo smiled broadly. "You've made friends you told me about, you've won games, been an amazing Keeper. You're no doubt doing well in classes... You're growing up. Without me having to hold your hand."

The Jester looked at the hand on his shoulder, felt the warmth of it. The comfort it entailed; that of a brotherhood. The hope, the rekindling of a relationship poisoned and neglected. A new perspective.

The Jester knocked the hand aside, taking a step back as Romeo reeled from the sudden movement. With green eyes set hard as emerald, the Jester felt a curl on the corner of his lips. Emotions held behind a barrier that he had tried so hard to erect and maintain at all costs, frightened that if it ever faltered a deluge would sweep away from him everything he held dear.

Thinking now, he didn't understand why he had even tried. Those floodgates had been shattered years ago...

He had just been to blind to see it.

“They're nice words.” He spat at last. "But words are just a mixture of vibrations and air that we created in order make sense of the world and so we could communicate." He held his left hand behind his back. “So let me communicate this to you in a way which can't be misconstrued or misinterpreted.”

The Jester swung hard, lunging at the red cloak with a scream held back for years and for nights filled with self doubt and paranoia. All because of this one focal point. He was aiming for Romeo's face, leaping to compound his strength with momentum.. “I. HATE. YOUU!”

Cerulean eyes widened, but Romeo felt himself adjusting for contact, opening his arms to brace for impact, intending to lock his muscular arms around his brother to prevent him from hurting himself or others with the aftermath of the wild swing.

What a family reunion this was turning out to be.

On every side, attacks. Greta, calling out for Niff, grasped the silvery boy’s heartstrings and yanked hard. While spinning to find her, Valentin spotted a now-burning Yefim, Mikael lining up a spell against their aggressor, and that fetid Hogwart boy throwing some … med kit? … in his general direction. How was Valentin supposed to trust such a person? Surely the thing was cursed to inflict even more suffering. Valentin began to sneer, only to drop all the tension from his face. There! There was Greta, bursting out into an opening with another cry, now for the rip-roaring spectacle that was Yefim. Greta was under attack, but by whom? Mik, Yef, everyone… everyone was at risk. What could Valentin do? Even that horrid muscle girl that kept consuming Yefim’s attentions seemed to be coming their way.

Valentin, born for split-second decisions, had trained for this kind of situation through quidditch with every bloody beating he took teaching him the right course of action. Now, as then, he had multiple targets to defend and only one skinny body to do it with. Who were the aggressors? There was fire burning Yefim, but that was not the root threat.

[In Russian.]

GRETA! Who is after you, where?! I am HERE!”

Silver-violet eyes flitting from one potential attacker to another, Valentin could only focus on the one threat he knew for certain. By defusing the known threat, he could protect the most possible. That yellow-eyed scum had to go. Heart aching for Yefim’s pain, Valentin knew the champ could take it… at least for a little while. The Durmstrang boys knew how tough one another was. What they really needed was concentrated firepower, and they needed it now.

Eyes narrowing, Valentin seethed rage through his wand-- he could not afford to miss again.

She looked for some time- her lidded gaze brushed over the nearby table, combing through the assortment of goods decorating it- but she would not find anything particularly interesting to pocket. There was nothing that glittered, or capsuled an aura of mystery- except for perhaps, an oddly shaped blueberry that someone had so kindly brought in with a basket of fruit. Ick. When objects failed to catch her attention, she turned to people watching. There was always a good time to be had in passively observing others. Humans did the funniest things, when they were unwary of the show they were putting on for wandering eyes. Xailah peered about the large room, slowly making her way from the food tables. Things were starting to get heated in the vicinity, and she didn't want to be nearby when the situation caught fire. Literally.

Her timing proved to be impeccable; soon after she chose to move one of the furnishings was violently flipped, sending all sorts of things flying into the air, and onto anyone that had been standing nearby. The food fight appeared to have twisted into something much more than just a food fight, wands were being drawn, words were being thrown; the atmosphere had become very tense all-round. But Xailah abstained from coming between the little brawl; a brief announcement would call for her attention. The tournament! She had almost forgot about her submission. Names were revealed one by one, each one building upon the foundation of suspense supported by the last. The Hogwarts champion was a bit of a surprise. Howard White. No doubt a familiar name. Xailah had met the boy a few times. He was a shady character at a distance, but he came across as strong willed and honest. Though, having knowledge of his affiliation with hags, (thanks to Vladimir's diary) she couldn't help but wonder if there was much more to his election than just chance. Oh, that's silly. It's not like a goblet could be influenced to spit out a specific persons name... right? Xailah stared for a moment silently, eyes lingering on the place of announcement, excitement fizzing subtilty. As if on cue, she began to scan the hall for the Hogwarts champion. He would go unfound, though someone else would catch her eye. Or rather, two people would.

A heated conversation was happening not too far away. The metamorphs ear picked out one of the voices- the one she subconsciously knew was familiar. She turned to the noise, and was immediately met with mild shock. Who- was that Piérre? Bright-eyed, fool-of-a-boy Piérre? Xailah stared in disbelief, watching the bitter scene unfold. She blinked once, thinking that she was perhaps confusing some strange boy for her fellow lion. What she was openly witnessing was not incorrect- her eyes did not lie. Piérre was shredding that damn brother of his (or what she remembered to be a brother, from his short-lived time in Gryffindor- his identity was but a fuzzy blurb outside of their brief run-in in broom racing). So many emotions flashed across both their faces- happiness, sadness, disbelief, and then finally, anger. And it wasn't a sort of heat-of-the-moment type anger- no this one had been festering, growing. It was a sad kind of anger. One fed from frustration and inner turmoil, and the inability to express any of it to anyone. Piérre had always displayed himself as such a nice boy. To see him lash out in such a way was... concerning to say the least. And to see the other fight back with equal animosity? She could not stand for that. Their act was unacceptable.

Xailah had never been one to come between the personal affairs of strangers. Frankly, their business was none of hers. Usually, she held some quiet respect for their privacy, so long as things remained tame. But there was something about these two going at each other that really grated her. The 'I hate you' uttered by the elvish boy, stoked at a few hostile low-burning embers. Stepping forward, she began to advance in the boy's direction, a low rumble playing on her lips. She would seek to scold them as she drew closer: "Have you both no sense of shame?!" She bellowed, her voice more like a roar; quite uncharacteristic to her usual melodic, and lilting tones. Their words- they left a sour taste on her tongue; even though it was not she who spoke them. As a child with a sibling- as an older sister- Xailah could never understand the sibling need to rip into each other. Verbally and otherwise. Had the exchange never escalated, she would have ended things there, by walking away, leaving them to their own devices. There was no telling if they could hear her anyway. Or if they wanted to hear her. Perhaps the angry static that swarmed them, rendered them deaf to outside voices.

Unfortunately (and much to Xailahs disappointment) the exchange did escalate. What had been an inappropriately placed verbal dispute, quickly became a physical one. Piérre (surprisingly) made the first move; his closed fist curved, swinging and cutting through the gathered tension to find root in the flesh of his brother. The other boy- Romeo- promptly swung an open arm in response to his brothers retaliation. His aim? Piérre's throat. Just who did they think they were? The behavior was absolutely uncalled for. Brothers laying hands on one another? Acting like complete hooligans? Granted, such things were expected from most boys their age, but not those with familial bonds. Fed up with observing the emotional onslaught, and feeling quite brash, Xailah did not stop at a vocal warning. Her pace would not falter, nor would her direction stray- yes, she continued to walk. Yes, she knew what she was doing. And yes, she knew how this would end. But she cared little for the consequences. She sought space between the brothers, and if she found it she would force her way into it. She was not going to allow the boys to hit each other like a couple of apes. Someone was going to get hit, that much was certain. It would hurt the young men a lot less if the prefect wound up the target of their violence. Xailahs only intention now, was to prevent the estranged siblings from doing something that they would both inevitably regret.
Attempting to step between, and restrain, Romeo and Piérre; to prevent them from hitting each other.
