okay so sorry to intrude, but I had a question!
Morally, are we obligated to have our characters on here [being hio] be Christians? I'm rather conflicted, as I'm not quite sure how to write that, especially with the Bible being very anti-witchcraft?

Jrue’s father is christian, her mother isn’t, so she’s kind of somewhere in between, acknowledging that someone made all of this. I personally think as long as you, the writer, separate yourself from the writing, you’re fine.

tldr; do whatever you want, as long as it doesn’t affect your relationship with religion.

So, we are not obligated to have our characters choose to follow any faith. As in this site we can make characters with all kids of backgrounds, all religions and their portrayals are accepted as long as they adhere to site rating. A boy from Poland and a boy from Lebanon, as student characters, don’t need to be of the same religion. Nobody restricts you in that matter.

You, the creator, might be Buddhist while your character is Jewish. It doesn’t matter really. For the sake of role playing more comfortably, most creators make a character with the same faith as them, so that the portrayal of it can be more accurate, as it’s kind of difficult to conduct deep research on another religion. However, no one is obliged to make their character of any religion.

In this site, we support and endorse freedom of religion, a basic right in most countries, especially The Unkited Kingdom and Ireland, where most student characters reside.

Your character can be of any religion. Muslim, Taoist, Christian, Taoist, just to name a small fraction. Cristian characters can also be of any denomination (Catholic, Presbyterian, Orthodox, Protestant, Methodist etc.) They can be atheist, or religion might not matter to them as much or as little as it means to you.

In all this, you must not lose your own faith. You can create this characters and perhaps share some of your ideals, but in a way that ensures that you do not lose track of your own. God is accepting to all His children and strives to save them all, whether they believe Him or not. In creating a character, you must not create an idol you worship. If you don’t, then it’s all right. You can play anyone, or anything. God, in fact, is one of the most lenient figures humanity has ever been graced with, if not the most. He will welcome you back regardless of what character you make.

As long as your relationship with God or whatever deity you worship isn’t disturbed, then you can create and play any character.

I love this question so much because Colin and I had talked about it long ago, and I know we both have spoken to others about it since. No. It is not an obligation in any way, shape, or form for your character to be Christian or any religion.

The way I chose to handle my personal, OOC beliefs with writing on a site about magic was to integrate my own hesitations into AngelFyre's character arc. AngelFyre is not anti-magic, per se, but she is skeptical about it and its source. This has come up in various threads of mine, and I have found it to be rich fodder to write about.

Some may wish to work through their feelings about faith colliding with magic in a similar fashion, and others may choose to stand firm in their personal beliefs, yet write their imaginary characters living in an imaginary magical world with no such thoughts or religious identity encumberances. I personally see no problem with either choice, or even a third choice which would have any Christian decide this is not the type of place for them. That is a conversation between you and the Father, but again, no one is obligated to have their characters be Christian. My iNPC, Stephen Schwartz, is actually Jewish.

I don't have the power to have control, but God does. I am weak, but God is strong. That is how I can trust. God never breaks His promises. Even if you can't see the way, the Lord has everything under control.
