With a small, passive smile plastered upon his countanence, the Chaser chuckled at Oonagh's playful retort. Her shoulder bumped into his next, and it suddenly dawned upon the Haitian wizard why Oonagh was a Beater.

"Diablo," he muttered under his breath, rubbing the spot where their shoulders had touched. Damn.

Following Oonagh's lead, he booed the poor fool from the other team whose name was unbeknownst to him. Jonah? Jordo? Who knew.

Once the match had begun, Fred tried to follow every play, his eyes moving from one side of the field to the other as he watched the players unfold their strategies. Upon hearing Avery’s comment, the boy nodded in agreement, adding, “It looks like our strategy is working well.”

Still seated on the bench, he briefly lamented when the Ravenclaw team scored points, but he also cheered and celebrated when one of the opposing Beaters fell, vaguely remembering that he was a much older player and that it was a good thing the more experienced ones were already out of play.

Ethan successfully intercepts a bludger hurtling towards one of his team members, grinning victoriously. “Gotcha!” He grins excitedly. Though, as he goes to slam the bludger towards its original owner, he misses badly, and it whizzes off somewhere. The beater curses himself for missing his shot. It's just the cold, of course; he was just... feeling a little off due to the weather, or whatever. Not that it matters much anyway, seeing as his teammate Pax knocks Jora straight off the field. “Nice!” he whoops, pumping his fist in relief. “Good shot, Pax!”

• Allies gain a 10% chance to auto-hit on all actions needing an accuracy vs evasion roll. This does not stack.

3. Fearless

• Players with this ability are immune to a dhampir's unsettling aura, terrible presence, and a werewolf's intimidation.

The Bench

As the crowd went wild, so did some of the second-string players – the ones who hadn't already been called up to the pitch, at least. Mikey and Damien cheered loud and clear for Aston, while Ophelia directed her excited exclamations at Aly. Alphonse and Avery leaned together, commenting on potential angles for future plays, given how the game was going. Frederick and Oonagh were far less kind, opting to boo at Winnie and Aly, respectively.

The Quaffle

'Ooooooh, Gryffindor are ignoring the Quaffle again. Very interesting.'

The words were pretty true. 'So that leaves Athanatos all by her lonesome to rack up points! And, well, Jacbosen to block in case the Quaffle goes flying across the pitch somehow.'

Winnie would prove to be a star Chaser, at any rate. Dings echoed about the pitch as she scored yet another 50 points for Ravenclaw. 'Very clean! Lovely, lovely job. Fifty points to Ravenclaw.'

The Snitch

Whatever it was, the Snitch didn't seem to feel like alerting Aodhan to its presence. The Gryffindor Seeker would search with all the might his brain could give him, but the golden orb would have the time of its life just about everywhere Aodhan wasn't looking. It flew down to the bench on the Gryffindor side. It nearly ran into the stands. It flew right behind Aodhan's head once. The impish orb just wasn't giving him a break. 'Huh, it doesn't look like Shaw's having much progress. I dunno, maybe cheer louder for him?'

The Beaters

The burly beaters seemed to find it best to attack each other. Take out the competition and hope they don't get you first, maybe? Whatever the case, Aston had zeroed his focus on Pax, who... 'Wonder what Zhang's up to; they haven't got their bat.'

Well, at any rate, Aston's aim was true, and Pax's evasion was less true. They were knocked off their broom, unconscious.

Ethan might have wanted revenge. It was hard to tell, since he was wielding two bats, and his first attempt with the bat really didn't seem to go as planned. 'Oh! An unexpected turn of events! Smith has bludgered Eliot, yikes. Isn't friendly fire not allowed or something? Well, the bludger still goes towards Beckett, who has no issue dodging.'

The other attempt went a bit more smoothly, unless Ethan had been attempting to hit Kora, in which case it went poorly. 'Sheesh. Vetra takes quite the hit in lieu of Salinger. But – oh! She's still hanging onto consciousness. Damn, what an iron constitution.'

The ricochet to Aston once again did not land. 'Beckett's got some good dodging skills, too. I wonder if he tutors.'

KOB Fouls

Okay, this was getting really weird. Last time, the Gryffindors had just kind of flown about. This time, the same happened. 'Gryffindor, seriously, what is going on?' Maybe Pax's downfall had something to do with it...?

However, the curse had spread. One Ravenclaw just flew about. 'Greymond, too? Quidditch is supposed to be interesting.' There was an audible sigh for dramatic effect.

'Oh! Finally! There's Salinger, beelining for Smith... ugh. And she just stops? Smith is not that scary. Salinger, I don't care if it didn't work, that's still a penalty lap.'

Ethan might not have been that scary, but maybe the falling Charlie was. At any rate, Harlan would not be fazed by Charlie's fear-inducing aura. 'Huh. Montgomery? What do you think you're – oh. Well, there goes Jacobsen. Penalty lap, Montgomery!'

Saves

Unluckily for Gryffindor, and for Kora, although Alliasta was directed to save any falling players, she seemed a bit too out of it to realise that Kora was falling. 'Holista. She's literally conscious. You know you can just swoop in and grab her, no?' Yeah, it really didn't seem fair to keep Holista on the pitch in that state. 'Buckley, Toussaint, you're up. Brown, you, too.'

The Ravenclaws would be luckier. Quinn, who had been waiting to save any falling ally, would notice Ebony falling. 'And Brook catches Vetra! Seriously, how is that girl still conscious?'

Mikey hardly noticed he was standing until his throat began to ache. He’d been cheering and clapping almost nonstop, his eyes fixed on the pitch as Aston moved with an ease that left Mikey agog. "he shouted, cupping his hands around his mouth. It was amazing to watch Aston avoid hit after hit, and Mikey felt a rush of pride that settled deep in his chest. Whatever they were doing down there, it was working. Ravenclaw had extended the lead to a full hundred, and Mikey let out a sharp laugh of excitement, pumping a fist in the air. Gryffindor hadn’t scored a single point, and the level of teamwork was simply incredible.

Reducio

In the role of Chaser when you attempt to catch a passed Quaffle (such as when the Keeper has possession of the Quaffle and passes it to a teammate) you have advantage (meaning that it is rolled twice and you keep the better option) on attempts to catch if the opponent team attempts to intercept.

In the role of Chaser, as a free action if the user of this broom is successful in the quafflegrab they can as a free action pass the Quaffle to another user in an attempt to score. There is a chance of the quaffle being intercepted, however due to the fact that the user is "so fast" with the quaffle this would be considered "surprising" and the attempt to score would be done at +3 accuracy by the player it was passed to in an attempt to score.

Note: The attempt to score would be an automatic attempt by the user that catches the passed quaffle.

In the role of Chaser, if you have a contested quaffle grab and a contested strength roll between yourself and another user is in progress, unless they have the same broom, you would be the victor of the contested quaffle grab. In addition, rounds where you are successfully carrying the quaffle in an attempt to score, you only take half-damage from bludgers and blatching attempts.

The Ravenclaw captain's fourth year at home, studying up on Quidditch cheats and fouls, had clearly not been as comprehensive as she had meant it to be. After all, what happens when your mildly scary teammate is blatched from her broom and you get distracted from your own blatch had never been covered in all the books and testimonies and match logs she'd pored over whilst stuck in the Salinger home in Welwyn, and unfortunately thus was the situation in which Aly had found herself. Her attempt on the lone first-string Gryffindor Beater still standing - er, flying - screeched to a standstill halt. Before Aly could so much as try to do something else, the referee's whistle was splitting the air and ordering both her and the bloke who'd blatched Charlie - that Harlow guy, as if she needed a reason to dislike him more - onto penalty laps.

Aly hadn't taken a penalty lap in ages. Since the fall of 2023, to be precise, when she'd been caught trying to blatch the Slytherin Beater @Erin Ryan in one of the many ill-fated matches that had seen the snakes best out the eagles. The sound of her name in the ref's mouth was unfamiliar, and not altogether pleasant. She turned her Oakshaft towards the edge of the stadium with a grunt, kicking her heels into the wood a bit to fly fast enough to catch up with the Gryffindor who had blatched off her team's Keeper. The faster she could get this over with, the sooner she'd be back in the game, but she could at least enjoy the lap whilst she had to do it.

"I hardly think it's a smart move to go after our Keeper when no one from your team is even touching the Quaffle," Aly ribbed as she flew up alongside the Gryffindor Chaser. "But then again, it's not a smart move to get caught, either, is it?"

The Ravenclaw knew she was opening herself up to being made fun of for having been caught for a blatch that didn't even work, but she would cross that bridge when she came to it. Maybe she didn't have her wand on her now, but she could certainly hex him afterwards if needed.
