It was rather uneventful, as Alyss located her broom and climbed aboard, taking a deep breath. All the while, Tristan found himself thrown off of his broom as the Ravenclaws continued to snatch the brooms out from under each of the snakes. Looking from side to side, Alyss noticed her movements matching those of Kyra and Kaitlyn, though it appeared Colin had another idea.

His spell hit Beatrice beautifully, the blindfold wrapping around her eyes like a python its prey. “Fantastic casting, Colin!” Alyss called, admiring the outcome of his outstanding obscuro. She enjoyed it far too much. Up ahead, Alyss could only see Wyatt enough to know he had the lead. Perhaps there was still hope in this match for her team.

Now that his mind was back to where it needed to be, Ari flew fast and with intention. So far, the chunk of the course he had flown through had proven to be quite easy to navigate. And best of all, almost all of the snakes he had seen fall around him were still behind him in his wake. This was still anyone's race though. Anything could happen; anyone could make one move to completely flip the odds. He'd just have to stay on top of his surroundings and keep any and all options for attack on the table.

Dee had bet on speed from the starting line, breakneck pace taking her ahead of the bulk of racers, and trusted her team mates to delay the Slytherins until she was out of range. A job they did well. When Dee turned around, just before vanishing deeper into the copse of trees that had given Wyatt such difficulty, she could spot four of the Slytherin racers on the ground, scrambling to return to their brooms, while all the Ravenclaws were still in the air and ready to fly - or fight. She grinned at the sight. Only Tristan was still flying, although a good distance behind her, and of course Wyatt ahead. Still, if Wyatt was the only one left of his team, with no support in sight...

Slowing down a little, Dee slipped her wand from the holster that kept it safe and in reach during her race. If she was quick enough... Twisting back on her broom to give her better aim, Dee pointed her wand at Tristan. It wasn't anything personal, he'd seemed nice enough the one time they had actually spoken, at summer camp over a year ago. But all was fair in love and broom racing, and she had a race to win. "Relashio." The spell came out golden, finding its mark as surely as Slytherin racers found the ground, and Dee grinned as she watched Tristan's fingers abruptly letting go of the broomstick, leaving the Slytherin plummeting to the ground to join his team mates.

When she turned back around to face the front, however, she spotted something very concerning through the trees - Wyatt disappearing in the fog ahead, and moving out of her range. The only other Ravenclaw racer who was ahead her was Korinna, and while she was holding her own, she was probably busy enough just navigating the track, and had little chance of taking down a seventh year. "Bugger," Dee muttered and leaned forward on her broom, racing in between the trees. True to her word, she did do better than Wyatt, cutting around the trunks and branches closely but precisely, and emerging from the short forest stretch unscathed. Not that would give her anything but moral speed isn't everything superiority in spirit if Wyatt finished the race first, and he was barely visible now. She'd have to hope the obstacles ahead would slow him down enough for her to catch up.

	Four of the six Slytherin racers were still stuck at the starting line, but all it took to lose this race was one snake getting too far ahead. Pericles took aim at the next racer in his sights, gripping his broom with a white-knuckled fist while leveling his wand with Wyatt's flight path. Multitasking would elude him this time. Casting with attention split between flying and the announcer's fading voice, his Depulso went wide and struck a tree, his target soon lost to the forest. Realizing he was too focused on what was behind him, Pear locked in on to the course ahead.

Yikes. She'd spoken too soon.

Korinna gritted her teeth through the pain and glanced around, looking for her other teammates. On the bright side, she was pretty far along the track, which was. hey. pretty good for a new racer if she did say so herself! That one slytherin guy was still ahead, though. Quite a few of the snakes were still at the starting line, which. was a good thing? She wasn't sure.

Probably by a stroke of sheer luck, she had narrowly avoided crashing into some trees - but she wasn't so lucky later. And now she was bleeding and a little disoriented.. had she gotten bitten by something? perhaps.

Ouch.

Korinna grimaced through the pain and turned around again, trying to hold the broom steady, though she was a little rattled and shaking. She'd just have to continue the race and... hopefully... not die!!

"What's McCoire's plan?" Della's voice floated over the track, magically enhanced. Colin smirked. In all his races, he couldn't recall ever actually getting near the finish line.

His love hate relationship with Vailerama usually ended with his broom bonking his head, jabbing his side, or else crashing into some place even more important. He'd gotten used to being as battered by his own broom as much as by anything or anyone on the track!

Naur-an-Edraith slid from his sheath strapped around Colin's arm. Della wanted to know his plan? She'd soon find out! Colin aimed his wand into the flock of chickenclaws. "Obscuro!!" he cast. Excited as he was, he took care to precisely aim. His smirk broadened to a grin as the magic flew towards Captain Bea Forsyth, who ended up sporting one of Colin's famous bandanas!

"Looks good on ye lassie!!" Colin called out to his classmate. "Mind those trees!"

Perhaps it was a nod to his half-blood heritage that he thought it better to be a bullet than a needle, and just shoot through the trees. He was only considering it now in slight regret because he knew he was losing blood, lots of it, and fast. That, and that little pointer Dealla had given him about dodging the trees instead of literally hitting every one of them. He supposed it didn’t matter much, as he was in the lead, and you wouldn’t believe how much blood was in a person, so he probably had a bit left to give before the finish line. He gripped the broomstick harder and pushed.

To be fair, it took some time for Kaitlyn on the ground to find her broom. She had to first shake off the annoyance of getting knocked off in the first place. Not to mention, she also needed to find her broom. Thankfully, that part didn’t require as much effort. Graceful as can be, she slid back on her broom and soared into the air, thankful to be back up and hopefully an asset to the Slytherin team. Er, or at least, not an embarrassment. Was it painfully obvious that this was her first race yet? Maybe, maybe not. Only time would tell.
