As Dee climbed onto the anvil, Mad gave a whistle from the sidelines, grinning like a jackal while observing and admiring. He took her fragile mage hands in his calloused palms with a woeful "awwww", taunting and tender all at once. Even though he rolled his eyes at the mention of magic, Madhup blew cool air over the angry red marks. It reminded him of the first time they got to know one another- when he teased her for using magic to blow snow from a bench. He imagined that if wixes could find a way to teleport air in and out of their lungs to eliminate the task of breathing, they would. Maybe Dee already knew a Breathing Spell.... "It is good to work all of the muscles, you know, not just the brain." Was the Chaser being metaphorical, or did he truly confuse an organ for a muscle? No time to question his anatomical knowledge: he was next, and his painstakingly cultivated goatee was on the line.

Madhup made a show of stretching his arms overhead before wrapping both fists around the sword pommels. His forearms flexed and biceps bulged beneath their sleeves, though to his horror, the sword moved an insignificant amount. Convinced that he could feel the mechanisms resisting him, he shot a panicked squint at the operator, only to draw a deep inhale through his nose and reassert a lift on the exhale. Something groaned within the prop anvil. Godric's hilt crawled upwards, landing approximately the same length above Dee's measure as one of his facial hairs, just enough to save the entire "beard" from annihilation. He'd won the wager with the combined powers of vanity and competitive spite. He wore a wide (relieved) smile while he trailed Dee towards the Streeler Stealer booth, crooning in a botched English accent: "Yes of course, darling." Mad looked impishly pleased with himself as he counted his tickets en route.

It was a good distraction for everything. A carnival was a place to be with people and to have fun winning (and/or loosing, unless you're a sore loser) games. It was a time to get loose. "I just wanted to check the carnival out! Looks like people are having fun."

Kohana-senpai said something about how the game they're going to be playing would be not as similar to Quidditch though it is quite related to being a seeker and she nodded. She turned to the booth before replying, "Yeah! It looks quite interesting so I'm going to try to play." Kanae said.

"I've never really tried being seeker haha" The girl added. She clapped politely as people played and earned tickets left and right. Good for them! Then, it was Kohana-senpai's turn and... THEY WON 80 TICKETS! Kanae cheered a bit for her upperclassman as he exited the booth before entering herself.

She ended up winning 55 tickets. Not too bad!

Now.. what game would be next? It looked like her upperclassman went to the Potions related game. The shorter girl wondered if those were actual potions or not but concluded otherwise mainly because the colors were so bright.

There was a glimmer at the corner of her eye. Woah, was that rip-off ring toss?

Maybe that was too mean but she's been to carnivals before -- muggle ones at least -- and she knows it's usually rigged there. Would it be here too? Well, no better way to find out other than to see for yourself!

Prat had managed competing in the Godric's Might booth with far more finesse than he'd expected of himself.

At first glance, it seemed like a ridiculous notion, why would anyone in their right mind would want to wrestle with a piece of metal only to be rewarded with flimsy paper tickets? Yet, when his hands found themselves closing around the hilt and the blade shifted within his grip, there was a flash of smug satisfaction as it slid free with enough strength to earn him fifty tickets.

That was respectable for the moment. More than that if he was being honest. It was enough to bring him closer to his rather questionable prize goal.

Crocs. Hideous, rubbery, absurd-looking footwear known as Crocs.

They did not suit his wardrobe in the slightest and yet something within the boy's mind urged for possession. No matter the lies he'd tell himself, he wanted them. Perhaps their appearance was so revolting they looped back around to being iconic. He could already imagine his roommates horrified faces as he'd strut into the common room with those monstrosities.

Just their annoyance would be worth the tickets and the extra effort.

Another thought that crossed his mind was to blow all his tickets on the balloons, just for the satisfaction of gifting one to every attractive girl he had and would spot during his time in the carnival. Maybe slipping them along with his name and school to see who might end up owling him later.

It was an idiotic plan, but one that still lingered in the back of his mind like an itch, owls were the second best things with the the lack of phones in the wizarding world.

But before he could pour more thoughts into his schemes, Sio was tugging him off towards the next booth, determination mixed in her steps that left him little choice but to follow the gryffindor. He didn't protest the pull, though he made sure to steer her slightly every now and then with subtle nudges.

If he'd let her barrel ahead unchecked, there was a chance she might end up colliding with some overeager student in the crowd or worse, a stand or booth.

The noise around them grew as they reached their destination and Prat soon understood why. The next attraction loomed ahead, absurdist in it's design but apparently popular among the abnormal crowd gathered around. A mechanical serpent of sorts, someone in the carnival, a genius of course, had thought to mimic a basilisk, and now the attendees were lined up to be thrown about on it's back. Laughing, shrieking and occasionally landing flat on the ground with their face first, while their peers jeered in the background.

Prat stared at it with thinly veiled disdain. The whole experience looked dirty, painful and above all, beneath him. He had no desire to be seen clinging to the back of a fake basilisk with some unhinged crowd laughing at his miserable failure. That, as he told himself, was not demure or aesthetic. And then Sio elbowed him in the ribs, lightly but an attack nonetheless. Her voice carried the challenge, irritating in it's attempt to get him as she grinned, "Time to see if you can match a farmgirl’s hand at wrangling some animals!"

For half a second, he considered declining outright. Wrangling animals was among the few actions that he would consider beneath him. A pastime for people who weren't aware of what proper living looked like. But then, the thought of letting her outdo him; or worse, hearing her bring it up later, with an upper hand was far less palatable than the excruciating ride itself.

"We'll see," he drawled, dry amusement and challenge in his tone. "Please don't break your head on the ground when you fall. I'd hate to explain the circumstances around that to anyone." Bragging rights were all that mattered here.

Done with the Petting Zoo, Asara zooms over to the games. There's so many people and it's getting late already, she had to choose quickly. There were three that stood out to her, the Bucking Basilisk, the Streeler Stealer and the Discombobuladder.

They all looked so much fun! Especially the ladder one, she'd climbed so many trees they had nothing on her. She'd bet her time on the family boat and canoeing in rapids would help with the Basilisk too. The shells looked fun though. She watched them get swished around again and again and nodded.

Best to start strong, she thought to herself. Asara pushed her way through the crowd into the line and watched intently. As the line shuffled forward she hardly lost focus. Not even the circus music could distract her now.

When it was her turn up she stared straight at the shell shuffler's hands and nodded, eyes glued firmly to the shells. The man shrugged started. Her eyes stayed glued to him, hardly even breathing, waiting for him to stop. As soon as the shells stilled and the man declared it ready her hand zoomed towards the shell.

He grinned, and slowly..... slowly....... lifted the shell...

The stadium was louder than Mikey had been expecting. Music, talk, the game booths all just got mixed together until the air itself hummed. He'd never actually been to a carnival in his life and his eyes kept dropping on things, the swinging ladders, the strobing lights, the crazy basilisk ride that made him happy he'd not consumed anything solid for breakfast.

He elbowed his way through the throng, KodoPodo's having created a peculiar tingling on top of his shoulder, until he came to the booth of games that filled Snitch Snatch stall. The gold specks streaming through the air caught his attention at once, a flash of wing and sparkle that zig and zip as if it had a life of its own. Quidditch was his sport. flying he enjoyed, chasing the golden snitch up and down the pitch? There was something about the challenge that appealed to him.

Raised eyebrows from the operators at the stand greeted him as he stepped up. Mikey swallowed, rolling up his sleeves just so they would not roll off over his hands. His eyes stayed fixed on the Snitch, following its wild flight as if it were a puzzle he could decipher if only, he focused harder.

“Alright,” he muttered under his breath, more to himself than anyone else. His wand hand twitched at his side, though no spell would help here—just reflexes, patience, and maybe a bit of luck. He set his feet, leaned forward slightly, and grinned faintly despite the nerves. “I’ll give it a go.”

The shell shufflers hand lifted and..... behold! A whole bunch of tickets! 53 in total! It definitely wasn't the highest amount but it was a damn good start. Asara did a little happy dance on the spot and stuffed them into her overall pockets.

"Thank you!", she lightly yelled at the shuffler. Well, it was a good indoor voice for a child at any rate.

She giggled and hopped and danced until the line worker gently led her away. She still had more rounds, 4 more shots if she stayed focussed. Asara zyoomed back and forth, darting about while trying to choose. She knew her next two would be the ladders or the basilisk. And then she'd have to think again for the last two if she still had the time.

She had so much energy! Now that she thought of it, hadn't that sign said the ladders were made off of the Hogwarts stairs? They looked loads of fun and they were perfect practise for when she started. It was just a month away, she was sure. And this way she'd be prepared.

Asara bounced on the spot a moment and decided. That was it! The Discombobuladder!

She ran over and watched the other students play while she waited in line.

There were two paths, the safe way, where either you hit the red button or you didn't, or the challenge way, where you got more tickets the faster and better you climbed, so long as you pressed the red button. She'd try her luck and and go the hard way. She'd have to deal with the real thing soon, and Pa said not even first years got off for being late, not even if the got stuck in the vanishing step! Better to start sooner than later.

As her turn came up she grinned at the line manager.

"The Challenge Path please!"

Nick bounced up and down with the biggest brightest smile on his face after he left the game, truth be told he was really out of breath from running back and forth but by Merlin that was such a fun game to play.

As much as he wanted to go right back in there and go one more time, he decided to graciously grab his tickets and stuff them in his pocket before running for the next game he could enjoy. Although there were quite a few games he hadn't yet enjoyed, there was one that caught his eye almost immediately.

"Arcane Plane..." Nick mumbled as he read the name on the sign. Now that sounded interesting.

The Arcane Plane game. Nick was already familiar with folding paper into many different things, he was a lover of origami for years now, since the very first time his Godmother taught him how to do it, folding a paper couldn't be any harder than making a dragon out of paper or a swan, he was more than confident in his skills for that!

So he rushed over, already eager to show off his skills, he already had so many tickets, he was so close to his goal! And he wanted to have some more fun of course.

Pathetic, is what it was.

Geneviève was kicking his ass—no doubt about it. Rightfully, she'd gloat, and Alphonse couldn't help but cackle along at his pride's expense.

"Yeah, yeah," Alphonse rattled with mock frustration and dismissive wave, "I'm being a gentleman and letting you win. That's all."

It was far from true, and they both knew it. Yet, Alphonse didn't mind the teasing, challenge, or her company.

His gaze focused in on a game requiring a bit more muscle—a shoe-in for a boy of his talents. He was a Beater for Ilvermorny, and Alphonse decided it was time to reveal why that was.

"Let's try this one," the boy chimed, spotting a game that depicted a scene akin to right out of one of those fantasy storybooks his brother Briar occasionally read. A dark gaze observed others attempting Godric's Might as the couple waited in line. It appeared easy enough—lifting a sword from an anvil. But looks could be deceiving, and Alphonse knew better than to goad too early on.

His gaze roved the other patrons and games, and eventually spotted Siobhan again. A smile touched his lips after observing the brunette in a state of joy. Hopefully, the Hogwarts girl was doing better at these games than he.

"After this, one more game? Then maybe some ice cream or something?" Alphonse suggested, turning his focus back to Geneviève.

It seemed Lucille's budding nausea was more of an advantage than a hindrance. It was more caused by a tiny bit of nervousness, but when she was on the ladders, it all seemed to disappear. Lucille jumped from ladder to ladder, her stomach seeming to roll with every leap. But it felt more like the feeling one gets on a roller coaster, a bit ticklish, instead of the nervousness she had felt before.

It was exhilarating, and by the time Lucille reached the top and slammed the red button, she was a bit red in the face. Her mad dash had apparently worked out well, and when she stepped off, she was surprised to receive 80 tickets. 80! That was the highest you could go! She accepted them, still a little surprised at her valiant effort.

Wiping sweat off her brow, Lucille knew her next game certainly wouldn't be quite so active. She surveyed the grounds, wondering what it could be. Her eyes landed on the Whack-a-Gnome game. Perhaps not the calmest game in the grounds, but Lucille didn't want to do something boring. Instead, she figured whacking some gnomes wouldn't be too difficult. She would just have to stand in one place, after all, and rely on her reflexes.

Although the girl's excitement hadn't dimmed, it seemed her energy had. As she approached the game, she wasn't so restless as she had been before. In fact, she was already beginning to think about what she would eat later. As she approached the game, she cleared her mind. Game first, food later. Just because she was getting tired didn't mean she didn't want to experience as many games as possible.
