Quidditch Ravenclaw vs Hufflepuff - Spring 2025

Fueled by the emotions of her last game, Lavinia immediately took off after the quaffle. She was not playing around this time and wanted to make a statement early that Ravenclaw was here to win. After throwing the quaffle into the hoops for a second time, Lavinia got slightly distracted by checking up on Charlie to see how she was doing with the new high speed block. In her distraction, Lavinia saw a Hufflepuff player try to score on Charlie and realized that she didn't have the quaffle herself. Shaking her head to snap out of it, Lavinia focused back on the quaffle and scored another 20 points. Not a bad start if she did say so. Also, the announcer was yelling her praises into the microphone which was quite fun to hear. Muttering under her breath with a smile, Lavinia let out "Lets keep this show going".

Watching the rest of her teammates on the field, she spotted Jorah's bludger as it hit the Hufflepuff keeper perfectly and almost knocked her off her broom. Lavinia's eyes followed the bludger as it approached its next target of Avery when out of no where is curved away from Avery and headed towards her. The bludger moved in slow motion at Lavinia as she flew in shock that Jorah's bludger redirected towards her. She had seen Jorah in practice for the last 6 years and knew this one hit would take her out of the game immediately. He was an absolute beast of a beater and Lavinia was so lucky to never be on the receiving end of his bludgers, until now. With the bludger barreling towards her, Lavinia got to her senses and flew off to evade it. All she could do was try and duck as she heard the bludger getting closer and closer.

Lavinia heard the purr of the bludger as it passed two inches away from her. That was two inches from ending her Hogwarts quidditch journey. Relieved that she did not get hit, Lavinia let out the breath she was holding and looked where Jorah had gone to. Once her eyes spotted him, she immediately noticed that he was on Quinn's broom and not even looking at where his bludger had gone. Lavinia immediately flew up to him and yelled "YOU ALMOST KNOCKED ME OUT WITH THAT BLUDGER JORAH, I DON'T WANT TO SEE YOUR BLUDGER THAT CLOSE TO ME OR ANY OF OUR TEAMMATES EVER AGAIN.". Taking a deep breath to control herself and her rapidly pumping heart, Lavinia calmed down enough to speak in a friendlier captain tone, "Now that was a weak hit Jorah, I shouldn't have been able to evade it. Next time, hit it hard enough to break their brooms.".

Flying away from Jorah and Quinn, Lavinia recentered herself and got ready to take on the whatever lied ahead. She was here to keep the show going for the spectators and for her quidditch journey.

As soon as the game started, Jess raced for the Quaffle. Nothing's going to stop me this time - too many times have I sacrificed the chance to- Oh. With all the 'nothing will stop me' thoughts, Jess had failed to notice quite who would be her competitor for the Quaffle... Lavinia.

Jess groaned to herself, but continued towards the Quaffle. I've still got to try! Jess just barely missed the Quaffle as Lavinia sped by, and she smacked her forehead as she heard the familiar ding of a goal.

Second time around, though, the fates may have turned in her favour. Jess easily grabbed the Quaffle, surprising herself in the process, and then made a beeline for the opposing team's goal. Come on, come on, come on, line yourself up, take aim, and...!

It felt cruel to admit that Jess had never thrown the Quaffle better. And yet, there Charlie Jacobsen was, holding it comfortably in front of the goal, as if no one had even tried to get past. Jess turned away in shame - I didn't even see her! What is wrong with me?

Jess didn't want to think about the whoops and cheers emanating from Ravenclaw's supporters. She could only hope that-

Well, there's a change! Jess looked up just in time to see Daphne catch sight of the Snitch, with Aly, the Ravenclaw seeker, nowhere near! She begged to the heavens above that this time, Hufflepuff might just be graced with some fortune.

Quinn smiled as the match began, ready to play. Everything seemed to be going great- they had scored a lot of points to start off and not let too many in. But then she noticed as someone turned there broom right towards her and started to barrel at her. Then-she stopped and Quinn stayed on her broom. She managed to grab someone falling from the sky and gave them a quick smile.
"Nice of you to drop by, also I hope your ok." Quinn said with a smile.

The beauty of accepting his team's inevitable defeat was the guilt-free transition into full spectator mode, complete with VIP seating for the carnage (benches really do have the best view). That seventh-year Ravenclaw captain who had people getting all sentimental earlier was genuinely skilled, but Atlas and Avery taking direct bludger hits and staying upright was equally impressive. So this was official Quidditch... absolutely worlds apart from the unofficial matches where one hit can sent a player to the ground. "That opposing captain's graduating after this, right?" As that familiar allergic reaction to keeping quiet kicked in, Mamori shifted left toward @Callum Alistar, pointing at Lavinia's direction. "Thank Merlin" a sigh of relief followed. If the team had to face another year of that monster, he'd honest-to-merlin consider switching to chess club. Annnnnd since he'd already opened the floodgates anyway, he continued whispering to Callum with completely unnecessary tactical analysis as if his opinion actually mattered, prioritizing which players should be taken out first, clean or dirty methods be damned. Though dirty was obviously the better option. Fair play was for teams that could actually win.

As soon as she saw the snitch, Daphne would grin and head towards it in an attempt to catch it. Even though Ravenclaw was leading, there was a chance they could win if only they caught the snitch. She couldn’t worry about being caught for now, it would be valuable seconds lost-she needed to make a move.

Abilities: Alluring: A Part-Veela is incredibly beautiful, the magic creates an "entranced" effect, wherein those that would be an attraction where they lose sight of their surroundings and focus more than necessary on the Part-Veela's movements or appearance. Viewers are also prone to experiencing thoughts of a strong desire to impress or be with the Part-Veela in question, some are strongly attracted romantically.

Prodigal DADA Learner: Able to learn Defense Against the Dark Arts 1 year ahead of their actual school year. You may only choose a spell taught in DADA classes. At end game they learn 1 restricted spell. This can also serve as an alternative means to learning spells besides earning them through DADA class.

Scream: The scream can be disorienting (-1 accuracy and -1 evasion), requiring a full action to perform but does not require a wand. This can stack indefinitely and persist until the end of the encounter. This scream can target a single user or it can target up to five users (as an AOE attack). Alternatively, this spell can be used to temporarily deafen an opponent. So rather than cause the player to become disoriented, they would become deafened (unable to hear) for the next 5 rounds.

The Bench

As players soared above, many of the second-string players sought to use their voices to change the course of the game. For the Hufflepuffs, their cheers could be heard loud and clear by Chaser Eugenia Karageorgiadi and Beater Tesla Stone. However, the bad juju from Ravaenclaw would only be exemplified with Andy Loggins and Ophelia Northwell sending loud and clear boos at Atlas all while Mamori, Avis and Aston successfully kept their eyes on the game.

The Quaffle

It would seem that Ravenclaw's captain had other plans in mind, as she left the Quafflers to go do... something. Surely it was important, but what was more important than the Quaffle?

Nonetheless, Winnie and Daphne were at it in the centre of the pitch, battling it out for the leather ball of point-getting. 'Oooooh, Harper and Sapphirus going at it! But who will win, who will win...?'

It proved to be Winnie who won at first, taking off and easily getting past Atlas's high-speed blocking manoeuvre with a new move of her own. 'A slice! Ten points to Ravenclaw — that's got to be tough to block. Stay strong, Reid!'

When Winnie struck again, Atlas did not let the Bad Vibes stop her. She easily seized hold of the Quaffle with all the finesse of a practiced Keeper and darted towards Charlie's goals. 'And she SCORES! What a surprise, and very well done! Ten points to Hufflepuff.'

Young Daphne Sapphirus would surprise many in the stands — the gasps would be audible even on the pitch — when she snagged the Quaffle away from Winnie. 'And now Sapphirus has the Quaffle! She's going, she's going, and... aw, s... rats. Blocked. Nice one, Jacobsen!'

Winnie easily grabbed the Quaffle once again and darted towards Atlas. One had to wonder if, between the bad vibes and the booing, Atlas really stood a chance. She certainly tried, but Winnie got the Quaffle past her in no time. 'Another lovely score from Harper — ten points to Ravenclaw!'

But... that was when the bad vibes struck again. Winnie would find herself unnerved, perhaps, and Daphne would easily take up the Quaffle and fly towards the Ravenclaw goals. 'Oh, oh, what's this? Sapphirus again? She's certainly proving to have an impressive skillset. And she shoots, and... well, she tried. Maybe next time.'

The Snitch

The bad juju was seriously getting to be too much. Aly was more than capable of finding the Snitch, surely, as a sixth year Seeker, but something really was just off on the Ravenclaw side of the pitch. She might have even been on the right track, but a shiver down her spine would make her subconsciously search for the cause of her unease rather than the Snitch itself...

'And Salinger still seems to have no luck. Ravenclaw fans, maybe you should buy her a snack after this game; she might need it.'

The Big, Bad Beaters

There was not a lot going on with the Beaters. Ebony flew around, gaze locked onto Avery McCall, but she, too, would become a victim of Ravenclaw's bad vibes — or was it almost a curse now?

'You're Beaters. Aren't you supposed to break people?'

Apparently not. Tesla, too, despite all the cheers towards her, hovered in midair doing absolutely nothing.

'This is boring.'

Avery, too, hovered near Daphne, but as no attacks came towards Daphne, Avery was stuck with nothing to do.

'Really, spectators, don't you think Quidditch ought to be a bit bloodier — oh, finally! Something exciting!'

A bludger came hurtling towards Atlas. It very well could have been the beginning of the end for the battered Keeper, but she evaded the strike swiftly and luckily. 'Oh. Well, I suppose Reid gets to do her job a little longer. Congratulations.'

KOB Fouls

Perhaps to make up for the relative drollness of the Beaters, two players had decided they were out for blood. Eugenia shot towards Ebony with the preciseness of someone who had perhaps practised cheating, although, who would ever do that?

'Ooooh, Karageorgiadi, on the Quidditch Pitch, with a blatch! That'll be a penalty lap for you, Miss.'

But it was a good blatch. Ebony would definitely be worse for wear as she fell towards the ground below.

Before the referee would even notice, a shape perhaps clad in blue came barrelling out of nowhere, right towards Atlas. Hadn't Atlas been targeted enough?

'And Reid is falling! Just... falling. Seriously, Reid?'

She'd get lucky, though, as Jess was waiting to save her.

'And she really does get to live another day, kudos to McLeod. Let's hope she doesn't fall off her broom again. Third time's the charm?'

Finally, Quinn had made the long ride to return Jorah to his broom. 'And Moussa's back! Maybe he'll cause some chaos next round, what do we think!?'

Health and Post Tracker

Chaos she asked for, and chaos she got. Two of the second strings, Callum, the little seeker and her friend Sage cheered for her. She was very glad about it, as she totally switched from defence to complete offence. Last round, she had to save. Now, she would wreak havoc.
And that she did, when she turned her broom towards Vetra, one Ravenclaw beater, and blanched her right in the middle. It was her first blatch, but with what little strength she had, it was a damn good one. Well, she got called on. But what’s that in front of the feat she accomplished. Πάει κι αυτό. There goes that. She flashed a thumbs up to Avery and went on her lap of shame.

Maybe it was too nice of a day for a quidditch match Tes realized, as she finally managed to look away from the way the sun was peaking between two clouds in a particularly beautiful way, to see that after her spectacularly flubbed swing of her bat, the game had continued on without her. Maybe she wasn't used to staying on her broom past her initial swing, usually being knocked to the ground within minutes, and she'd completely lost track of time.

Whatever the reason, she readjusted her grip on her bat, looking around and reorienting herself on what she'd missed. "Ah shi- uh, shucks," she nearly cursed, swooping back into the action, "Sorry guys! Didn't mean to flub that so bad. We've got this!"

Ophelia listened to @Avis Greymond talk about all the things that were going wrong. Ugh, they were supposed to be strategising but how could they manage to do that without anything good happening for their team? Ophelia needed something good to happen, like for Ravenclaw to catch sight of that snitch, fast.

The thought happened so fast that Ophelia didn't really process it, she just went with it. She'd booed. Booed. She'd never, ever done that at a match like this before, Quidditch or otherwise. But this game must've been more disastrous than the rest because she was clearly losing her sanity.

The game continued on. Charlie watched as her teammate Winnie scored 20 points against Hufflepuff. She cheered loudly for her team but when the quaffle came over to her she focused up and did her best to block some shots. Atlas, a Hufflepuff scored one on her but she didn't let that get to her. She had another near miss but what Charlie didn’t see was a Hufflepuff blatching Ebony off of her broom.
