HISTORY
ReducioJaemin was born in London, England on August 23rd, 2013 to his parents Hyunsoo and Somin Choi. He is the oldest child of two and has a younger sister, Mina. From his young age he was a special child, always wanting to read, curious about everything, creative and loved to draw and paint. Jaemin always believed magic was just in fairytales and never would have imagined he had powers of his own. When he was 8 however, he was in the living room one day with his sister, Jaemin drawing and Mina playing with toys. Mina went over to Jaemin wanting to play with him and offered him one of her dolls. He refused her a couple times but she kept being insistent of wanting to play with her big brother. Annoyed by the constant pestering, he yelled at her to leave him alone and her dolls went flying back, hitting the wall loudly. His parents came in to find him hugging Mina, trying to apologize as she was crying and he tried to explain to them what happened. After sitting down together with his parents, Jaemin learned that he was in fact a wizard.
This was a huge change for him and over the years to come until he left for Hogwarts he was determined to learn everything there was to know about the magical world. He bothered his father countless times to tell him more stories about the school and the magical world. His father did take him to Diagon Alley for a short trip when he was 10 after much begging. While they were there he got to see so many new things that he couldn’t believe his own eyes.
While he spent his early years in a muggle public school, now that he was leaving for Hogwarts, they had to come up with a story to tell Somin’s mother who had moved from South Korea to live with them after her husband died when Jaemin was 9. They settled on saying he was going to a private boarding school to get a great education. It wasn’t completely a lie since he was going to receive an amazing education at Hogwarts just in magical subjects instead of the regular curriculum of muggle schools. While Somin just wants her children to be happy in whatever they choose to do when they grow up, Hyunsoo especially had high hopes for Jaemin in particular. He wants him to excel at school like he did and be able to get a great job that he enjoys later. Hyunsoo has always instilled a good work ethic into Jaemin which translated into why he studies so hard and tries to do his best in everything.
Growing up, even before his grandmother came to live with them, Jaemin got to spend time with them when they visited South Korea and also with Hyunsoo’s father, Minsoo, all of whom taught Jaemin and Mina some basic Korean. He always did enjoy learning the language and spending time with his family. They also spent time with Hyunsoo’s sister, Mari and her daughter Lily. The whole family would get together for holidays and then throughout the year too for dinners and traveling. The family was all really close even after Hyunsoo’s parents and Somin’s father died they still tried to keep up family engagements.
Jaemin had a couple close friends growing up, Nicholas, Daniel and Reese, all of whom also think he is going away to a boarding school even though he wished he could tell them the truth. He promised to visit them on holidays but he admittedly was worried they wouldn’t be as close anymore with him going away for so long and making new friends. While he never really was big into sports, Jaemin did take a big interest in the arts. Drawing and painting being his favorite, he also loved reading all sorts of books and even sang a little, although he was shy about singing in public at the time.

Born in London his father, Minsoo Choi, was a wizard and fell in love with his mother, Laura Matthews who was also a wizard, while visiting London on magic business. Hyunsoo was born and raised in London, has an older sister named Mari, graduated from Hogwarts to become a Magizoologist. After meeting Jaemin’s mother, Somin a muggle school teacher, in South Korea while working he revealed his past to her and the two were soon married. He often goes out of town for work, although up until Jaemin had his first instance of magic he never revealed what his real job was. He has since told many stories to Jaemin and his sister Mina about the magical world and all that they had to look forward to at Hogwarts.

Somin Kim was born and raised in South Korea by her parents, Jungwoo and Sora Kim. She was the only child and was very bright as a child, always at the top of her class and well liked. She became a teacher for a high school, teaching literature. She was shocked to find out that Hyunsoo was a wizard at first but was very accepting of it in the end. The two decided to raise their children in both worlds, having them attend muggle schools for their beginning years until it was time to attend Hogwarts. After moving to London with Hyunsoo, she became a Korean Teacher at a local high school. Jaemin gets much of his love for reading and learning from her.

Mina was born and raised in London like Jaemin. Although she is younger she shows great promise, doing very well in her studies and active in clubs and sports. She is more outgoing than her brother but equally studious, although she would prefer to be playing to reading like her brother. Not long after Jaemin went off to Hogwarts, Mina had her first instance of magic when she accidentally had changed her hair color after her parents wouldn’t let her get colorful highlights.
