Sixth Years and Wands
Sixth Years and WandsxxxxxTristan made his way towards the dueling club as he prepared himself to referee whoever desired to duel today. Although he himself had not been a part of the official dueling team of his house, he had been tutored in all forms of wizarding sport by his tutor and had continued to be tutored in such. It was not a practical tutoring, but rather a tutoring in theory and in readings. As such, he desired to take this theory and put it into practice. In the dueling room, he would offer himself up as a referee and moderate any two who wanted to fight and test their magical skills. Perhaps, in the future, he would himself test his magical prowess by dueling for practice here in the dueling club. However, today, he desired to test himself in the external position of referee, rather than take part in the sport itself. There were of course adults watching them just in case of injury, so he was certain that this fight would not have fatal consequences. He was ready to intervene if needed, but other than that, he would allow whoever to pick up a fight for him to referee. He was ready to watch talented wixen fight.

Locked TrunkIt had been a good long while since AJ had set foot in this room. It hadn't changed much since his days as the Gryffindor Duelling Captain. He was still quite nostalgic for that time, as brief as it was. His old duelling attire unsurprisingly no longer fit. Thus he found himself clad in slightly ill-fitting loaner equipment for this particular spontaneous duel. When he had seen Tristan's request posted he couldn't think of a better way to get his eye back in for duelling.
What he hadn't expected was to be paired up with Dealla Prince. Sure, he and Alec had managed to squeeze out a win against her back in the day, but word on the street was she wasn't just a duellist. She was the duellist. Her reputation long preceded her, and the young scot very much doubted a rusty washed up captain was going to stand much of a chance here. Did he plan to respectfully bow out? Absolutely not, he was going to give this his all!
He steps up to the duelling field and bows respectfully to Dee. "Uxceetud teh feece yeh 'gen Dee. Tree nae t'whoop meh too thurruleh." "Excited to face you again Dee. Try not to whoop me too thoroughly." With a grin he rose back to full standing height, twirling his wand in his fingers as he readied it.

AJ's Animagus form takes on the shape of a Caucasian Shepherd Dog. Heavy-set, muscular and fluffy as heck, he stands taller than a lot of young children and can even dwarf some adults when sitting or jumping up on his hind legs. His fur is a mixture of white and light browns, turning darker brown and black on the roots of his fur. His eyes, while still maintaining a distinctly canine appearance in this form, remain his typical shimmering blue. A trait that is highly atypical for this breed.

4. Distinctive Marking: In case the eye-colour is not enough. AJ in his Animagus form has a notable scar on the midpoint of his snout, mirroring the small scar on the bridge of his nose he received after he fell off the moving Hogwarts Express.

Sixth Years and Wands
The decision to volunteer for this duel had been a spontaneous one. A way to challenge herself after her hasty departure from the duelling club half a year ago, born from the almost compulsive desire to make a change, to take control of her own life again, and leave things in the past that just weren't her anymore. Duelling had been only one of them, a symbolic first step, but she remembered stepping out of this very room and feeling the weight shift off her shoulders. Even breathing had felt easier. She hadn't regretted it, either.
But that didn't mean that Dee didn't still miss it, sometimes. She'd loved duelling with all her heart, for years, and even if she'd moved on, that wasn't entirely gone. Which was okay - moving on didn't have to mean forgetting, another thing she'd learned this summer. It held true for other parts of her life and her past, as well. And perhaps duelling without the pressure to represent her team would return some of the joy and wonder that duelling had held for her in the beginning, which she had started missing over the past year.
She held onto that determination as she stepped into the duelling room, pausing only for a moment to acknowledge the memories the sight still held for her. The overwhelming majority were good ones, too, and it was okay to let herself remember that. A deep breath, and she felt a knot loosening in her stomach that she hadn't even been aware of anymore.
Surveying the room, Dee quickly spotted Tristan and AJ, and gave them a cheery wave before she started jogging towards them, her ponytail swinging. "Hey!" she greeted them sunnily, dropping her bag at the side and rolling up her sleeves before giving AJ a onceover. She'd shown up in a more casual attire, leggings and a simple shirt, the sort of outfit she'd wear for practice rather than official duels. AJ's outfit didn't seem to belong to him, either. "Who'd you borrow that from?" she asked while she sauntered over to stand across from him, rolling her wrists and stretching her shoulders to warm up. "It seems a little short for you, doesn't it?" Which was no surprise, AJ was huge. A foot taller than her, he was towering over Dee, which might have been intimidating if height held any sort of advantage in duelling. As it was, she figured it was more a the bigger they are, the harder they fall sort of situation.
A glimmer of amusement in her eyes, she gracefully returned the bow, then drew her wand and got into position - body angled sideways, wand hand out front at an angle. Her smile widened at his thick Scottish dialect. "Sorry, I don't know how to go easy," she teased, then gave Tristan a thumbs up with her left to signal her readiness. "You better prepare to dodge, hm?"

Sixth Years and WandsxxxxxTristan nodded as he saw the two duellists prepared themselves for the duel. The young man bowed to the young woman and Dealla taunted the young man teasingly. Tristan was excited to see a duel between two of his peers, beyond the duels between younger years that he had seen throughout the years. Dealla bowed in response and they both readied their wands. Dealla signalled her readiness and so Tristan gestured for them to begin. The young man whom Tristan was less familiar with cast a simple spell from the second year curriculum. It was a simple, successful cast, yet it was effective. At the same time, Dee casted Aqua Eructus, also successful. The water hit the young man’s eyes, and his spell hit Dee’s wand, disarming it. It was an exciting first cast from both of the students and he was excited to see what would happen next. Tristan waited and observed carefully what would happen next. It was already clear that these two sixth-year students had good knowledge of the curriculum and had good power magically as well. He expected it to get even more exciting as the time went on and he was very pleased that that would be the case. Neck-to-neck duelling, cutthroat duelling was always the most adrenaline pumping and entertaining after all.

Locked TrunkAs the pressurised stream of water stung his eyes and his heart rate ramped up he knew immediately that he'd missed it. Despite the pain and the blurry vision he was now experiencing. This truly was the life. "Expelliarmus!" With a flick of his wand he disarmed Dealla as he tried to wipe his eyes clear of the water. His cast had been a simple one, but sometimes simple but effective was all you needed.
Probably not against Dealla Prince though. No, against her you probably needed flair and power.
"Crees' yoo dunnae steer' smull doo yeh? Theer sem grudge agunst meh ah wes unaweer af?" "Christ you don't start small do you? There some grudge against me I was unaware of?" He laughs, losing himself in the visceral thrill of duelling. In this moment he really wasn't concerned if her next spell sent him flying out of the room. He was having a blast and nothing could stop him.
He couldn't spend too long chuckling the day away however. He would have only a few moments before Dealla found her wand again, so he needed to act quickly. He just hoped he didn't accidentally hit himself with this next move. One eye at a time he blinks, trying to unblur his sight. It was to no real avail, this was going to be tricky.

AJ's Animagus form takes on the shape of a Caucasian Shepherd Dog. Heavy-set, muscular and fluffy as heck, he stands taller than a lot of young children and can even dwarf some adults when sitting or jumping up on his hind legs. His fur is a mixture of white and light browns, turning darker brown and black on the roots of his fur. His eyes, while still maintaining a distinctly canine appearance in this form, remain his typical shimmering blue. A trait that is highly atypical for this breed.

Tristan signalled the start of the duel, and Dee flicked her wand. "Aqua Eructo!" That had always been her style; she was fast above all else. You snooze, you lose, and all that. Humming happily as the water she conjured burst from her wand to thoroughly douse AJ, she reacted too late to dodge the spell he'd cast in return.
"Son of a..." Her fingers tightened around the smooth wood of her wand in an attempt to keep hold of it, but it was futile, and she'd known that before she'd even tried. "... flobberworm," she finished cheerily, watching her wand slip from her fingers and arc through the air. It felt good to be here again, for fun. Natural, easy. "Nice aim, AJ. You practiced, didn't you?" Being wandless was never a good state to be in, and less so during a duel. Her eyes tracked the wand through the air and watched it clatter to the ground. Still, with AJ resembling a wet poodle and water running into his eyes, she figured she'd gotten the better of him for now. It took her a second to sort through the Gryffindor's next words, but when she had, she laughed. "I told you I don't know how to go easy. All is fair in love and duelling."
Two smooth steps to the side took her closer to her wand, but there was no helping it - she'd have to go for it, and leave herself vulnerable. "Whyever did you leave duelling, anyway?"

Sixth Years and WandsxxxxxThere is a moment of scrambling as Dee begins to look for her wand during the tense moment where she is unable to go on offense during this fight. There is a drawing of the wand, and although the water in the young man’s eyes had detrimental effects on him, he was able to cast accurately. The blast of Confringo exploded beautifully against his opponent, but in an amazing feat, Dee doges the main part of the blast, hit only with the splinters. Though it was still a substantial amount of damag, it was not as terrible as it could have been. Dee would survive to the next round, with wand in hand, the damage and hurt not preventing her future success. Tristan was quite intrigued in this beautiful duel, as it began to be quite neck to neck. It was quite exciting to moderate indeed. He did not display his excitement and instead only observed the tension between the two duellists with great detail, attempting to learn from them. Although he was not the person fighting, this could be a great way to learn indeed in the future. Perhaps he could moderate another duel next time as well. This was quite intriguing and intense indeed.

His spell struck true enough, and he was quite pleased with the sound and the impact of the small explosion he had hurled at his opponent. Unfortunately whilst it would've been perfectly cast against any other target this was the lightning quick Dealla Prince he was dealing with, and "good enough" was not going to be "good enough" to get a leg up in this duel.
He blinked the last of the water away from his eyes and refocused on her. She had her wand again, so the small advantage he had afforded himself was gone. "Whee'd ah leave? Clurleh becuss ah cannae het meh tergets!" "Why'd I leave? Clearly because I cannot hit my targets!" He jokes to her, shaking his head to let his soggy mop of hair shake loose the moisture that was weighing it down, similar to how a dog would dry itself off after playing around in the rain. He didn't go into unpacking the true reason right now, there was other business at hand and his brain was only big enough to focus on so many things at once, but he'd still send the question back at her. "Wha' boot yeh? Whee'd yoo kwet?" "What about you? Why'd you quit?" He would ask, his tone casual and playful. He may be on the backfoot still in this duel, but he was absolutely having the time of his life. The thrills and the rush of adrenaline were surging through his body, and frankly he figured he'd be more upset when it was over.
Though there was still the fact he was soaking wet. That was going to be a problem soon enough...

Lunging forward, Dee grabbed her wand and rolled to the side, coming up to her feet smoothly. She immediately took a few rapid steps backwards to dodge whatever spell was incoming... which proved to be the correct decision. Eyes wide, Dee scrambled backwards, away from the explosion and the splinters that rained down upon her, cutting arms and legs. "Merlin's bad breath," she said dazedly, eyeing the decently sized hole in the floor where she'd just stood. "And you're telling me I should start small?" While she was a reliable caster, her spells had never been this powerful. Suddenly much more aware, her gaze zeroed in on AJ once more. She'd have to stay two steps ahead if she wanted to win this.
AJ's lighthearted reply to her question drew a snort in response. "Probably only because your targets are running for their lives from the looks of this. I'll be lucky to leave this room alive." Dee danced a few steps away from the hole - didn't need to risk stumbling into it - and tried to ignore the stinging of the dozen small cuts she'd received from AJ's attack. Perhaps she should have expected him to return the question, but she still blinked, surprised that he even knew she'd left the team. She didn't think he'd been around for the last stage of duels in the previous year. "Eh, felt stuck," she replied, shrugging. "I'd been duelling for so long, I forgot how to have fun with it. Needed a change of pace, I guess." There was more to it, of course - a frantic urge to take back control of her life, to prove that she wasn't afraid, that she could do whatever she wanted - but it was still true enough. [/quote]Sixth Years and WandsxxxxxAJ casts Protego on himself succesfully, which is quite fortunate indeed because Dee throws quite the impressive spell at him, Oculitumescere. However, successful the cast was, and how beautiful it was, the spell hits the shield and bounces back towards the caster, in a surprising turn of events. But then, Dee, her reaction time fast, dodges succesfully out of the way. It is a dramatic and quick set of events unlike any other duel. A spell successfully cast but unable to hit anything successfully. This round of the duel was eye-catchingly fun and dangerous. If Tristan had been watching this as if it were a muggle film, he would be on the edge of his seat, waiting with bated breath for the next round of spells shot from each student. This was once again a neck to neck match, with great skill and passion from both his peers. It would be an honour to fight either of these students himself and perhaps one day he would be able to verify his duelling skills against both his peers. Either way, luck seemed to be on both these students’ side, protecting both from the effects of the well casted spell. There were no words to describe the beauty of the events.
