Cyrus's hands tapped his broom nervously as the students began to arrive. Despite the American's innate extroversion, he was still a worried kid sometimes – especially when he was outside of his comfort zone. He glanced at each student as they arrived, waving at them, his fingers flying a bit too quickly to be 'normal' for some. He just hoped the beaters would play nice.
'Morning!' His chipper tone would greet Decipio as she arrived. If she were looking, she would notice the corners of his narrow blue eyes crinkling in relief as he realised that, with her assistance, he would not be the only one trying to assist with slowing charms. 'That would be really helpful, actually. Please do that. I don't know if I'll be able to see everyone and cast in time, I think I could slow down two students? But help would be really nice, thank you so much!'
He chuckled softly. 'And, well, I don't want anyone to end up falling on any tents. I know they're magic, but as a, ah...' He trailed off, the 'no-Maj-born' that he was going to add having been foregone in favour of another laugh. 'Well, I guess I trust magic, but not enough to stop someone's luggage from being crushed.'
He waved at everyone individually, doing his best to make them feel welcome. If he knew their names, he greeted them as such, but for the rest, he would simply smile warmly and wave.
When Zophyr arrived and thanked him for hosting the game, Cyrus positively beamed: he would likely appear to radiate sunshine from how his slightly-nervous demeanour shifted. His hands tapped against his broom more quickly, this time in joy and not in distress, and he gently leant from side to side as he said, 'Thank you for coming!' before pondering a response to the other child's question. 'Hm... I don't see why not? I think they couldn't go too fast, but if they fell, they could catch themselves, so... yes?' Oh, what he wouldn't give to be a duck and to be able to catch himself if he fell from his broom. If only...
He had gotten distracted. In his absentminded musing, more and more students had filled in; everyone was here. He blinked, gave his spiel, and waved encouragingly at Elias and Slava, slowly lifting higher in the air and pulling out his wand alongside his megaphone as he did so. He had to be prepared no matter what.
The Quaffle
Cyrus watched intently as the players swarmed around one another on brooms. His playbook and Quidditch guide weighed heavily in his pocket as he tenderly lifted his megaphone to his lips, watching with wide eyes as one of the Chasers barrelled towards the other team's goals and scored!
'Wow! That was cool. Uh, ten? Ten points to team... uhh... team two!'
The girl did it again. Cyrus stared in astonishment – if it had been him, he absolutely would have fumbled the Quaffle and dropped it onto a tent or onlooker below.
'Whoa! You're really good at that. Ten points to team dos two!'
He did not speak Spanish, but he could count to five. Also, he knew a word for duck: el ánade.
The keepers were also really good. Cyrus's mouth opened, jaw dropping slightly as both keepers managed to block decent throws!

The Snitch
The sky shone beautifully, the sun's light ricocheting like an unwanted bludger across the golden hoops of the London Quidditch Stadium. As much as Prat and Brookline searched, they would not see even a glimpse of the silly little orb, even if they might have come close.

The Bludgers
Cyrus's least favourite part of Quidditch was definitely the violence. In duelling, it was, in his opinion, a refined sort of violence that everyone consented to. You or your partners could even heal yourselves if you really wanted to. The throwing of iron balls at children that Quidditch promoted, though, was horrifying, especially from such a height.
So... Cyrus held his wand at the ready, gaze sharp like a bird's as he scanned the air for falling players.
He watched as two smaller beaters teamed up, and although he initially smiled warmly and encouragingly at the glorious display of solidarity, his heart dropped when his gaze followed the bludger towards his friend, Slava. 'Oh no,' he murmured, thankfully not into the megaphone. 'That can't be good.'
He watched, eyes wide as saucers, as his Russian friend was knocked clean off of his broom by the combined strength of the young ones. The display was rather impressive, but – Slava!
Slava would not disappoint in his response. Or, well, he would disappoint Cyrus's morals, but Cyrus would be glad to see that justice would be served... or whatever. Something about burning brightly before burning out. The Russian shot a bludger at one of the young children (Aston), and Cyrus winced before noting that the child did not, in fact, fall off of his broom. However, Slava was old and experienced, and his bludger ricocheted to another small child (Aurélie). Cyrus gulped.
'Crikey. Arresto Momentum.' He would spread the spell to both Slava and Aurélie to slow their falls, and also hopefully to allow anyone underneath to scramble out of the way. Maybe Decipio could heal them a bit?
While he was focused on Slava and Aurélie, however, yet another small child (Judas) was thrown from their feeble broom, this time by Slava's beater buddy. Cyrus winced again, but his focus was already taken. He glanced down at Decipio, but she likely wouldn't notice his alarmed, pleading expression.
'That was, uh, really eventful. Thanks for the lack of fouls? You guys, uh, rock?'
What was he supposed to say when tiny little kids were getting knocked clean off of their brooms? 'Good job'?

"Of course, not a problem at all," Evelynn had replied to Cyrus (@Koko Riddle), mirroring his amiable expression. "No, we certainly would not want that," she allowed, shrugging a brow at the notion of squashed tents. "If there is any other way by which I may assist, do let me know."
As the other students began to gather, Evelynn withdrew slightly to one side, observing. If a student looked her direction or went out of their way to introduce themselves, they were met with a polite smile and nod of the head. If not, she let them be, though made special note of their face and garb, and anything else revealing about their character. Most of them, however, seemed quite shy. Aside from the odd "Watch me" or "Good luck", few other words were spoken. At least until...
"Hey, do you think ducks could ride brooms?" (@Mahlioz Evethisawe)
There may as well have been an actual broom-riding duck for the peculiar look Zophyr drew from Evelynn, brow perking. What a strange question. All the more strange for the way the Cyrus actually considered it and provided something of a legitimate answer. Albeit, one she disagreed with given that ducks hadn't the same ability to grasp in the same way many other avians did. She doubted whether a duck could even stand upon the rounded narrow shaft of a broom for any length of time, nevermind while flying and contending with wind and air resistance..
But this was hardly the time to contemplate ducks and brooms.
"A pleasure to make your acquaintance," Evelynn replied, accepting and returning his handshake while introducing herself as, "Decipio. I will be your second-string seeker."
Conversation was kept short--and arguably non-existent--as players got into position for the start of the game. Evelynn moved to the bench. "It seems proper introductions were not previously in order. My name is Decipio. Of Hogwarts. You are?" Her hand was held out to each of them in turn, taking no offense if a shake was not accepted.
Settling upon the bench, she crossed one leg over the other, smoothed the fabric of her Quidditch robes, then withdraw her wand from her boot. Hand resting loosely off her knee in preparation to cast if need be, she glanced sidelong at the other second-string members before turning her gaze skyward for the start of the game. "Have any of you played before?" (@Mahlioz Evethisawe as Zophyr, @Swan Clark, @Remedy Norden as Alphonse)
"Well, this is refreshing.." As the game kicked off, a sardonic smirk found its way to her lips. "I cannot recall the last time I saw a keeper actually remain at the posts." This was what a quidditch game was supposed to look like. It really was a shame that there weren't stiffer penalties imposed for blatching and other foul moves. Demure claps were given every time a quaffle made its way through a hoop, or was successfully blocked, regardless of to which team's benefit it was.
"Oh, the timing to accomplish that effectively is actually quite difficult..." Witnessing the feat of two younger players managing to successfully pull off the dopplebeater defense drew a look of intrigue, the Gryffindor tilting her head slightly as adjusted and straightened her posture upon the bench. The bludger struck its target solidly. "Well played." She nodded her head towards the descending beater. "That is one of Durmstrang's beaters. Vyacheslav." Attempting to recall, and moreover pronounce his surname was discarded before it could be entertained. "He is very good."
Honestly, it was really impressive that the novice players were able to dispatch with him so quickly. He was, undeniably, their greatest threat. Of course, they weren't quite able to do so before the Durmstrang player had managed to get his own swing in. His bludger rocketed right back towards their own beaters, one bludger exchanged for another, and defying the odds, the victim managed to stay upright. Barely. The chaser who received the ricochet, was not so lucky.
Evelynn stood, wand out in preparation to slow one of the unfortunate students. To the credit of his earlier claim, however, she would see both of them slowed safely to the ground by Cyrus. The corner of her mouth twitched. How was it that everyone seemed so adept at duplicating their spells. She had been wavering on the fence for some time now on whether or not to beseech Pericles for his assistance to teach her how to do the same. Perhaps it was past time. At the very least, her rise would not be in vain. Moments later, the one boy who had been so assertive to introduce himself took a bludger.
"Arresto momentum," she incanted gently, the dark walnut wand in her left hand poised towards his limp figure, then, "somnambulus." The unconscious figure of Judas (@Rebecca Lark) would rise then in a rather ungainly sort of way, head still lolling to one side or the other with his movements. Much like a sleepwalker, he would rise and make his way off the pitch to the safety near the benches. Again, Evelynn would ease him down, then crouch next to him, muttering, "Ferula" to conjure bandages around those limbs that looked particularly unstable, "Episkey" to deliver unto him at least some small amount of healing, and finally "Rennervate" so that he might be able to watch the remainder of the game. He would be sore and still in need of additional healing, but he could be conscious. This same treatment would be applied to Aurélie (@Ophelia Northwell) and Slava (@Ruby Cazares) as well.ACTION: providing healing for Judas, Aurelie and Slava

Everything happened so quickly. Elias fumbled for the biggest ball, the Kaffle? as a girl from the other team snatched it and flew away. He chased her, naturally, trying to snatch the ball from her while keeping an eye out for the mean balls, the Pludders. It was not very easy, especially with how darn fast she could fly.
The girl scored. Elias felt a bubble of frustration, which may have clouded his focus as she again snatched the Kaffle, practically taking it from him and flying away to toss it in the hoops. Again, she scored. Elias felt like bonking his head against his broom already. Focus. Focus. Sometimes he found that signing things to himself made it feel more concrete, easier to understand and internalize.
Usually, at least. This time, he was again foiled. At least the Keeper was able to block the incoming Kaffle, and Elias flashed her a quick thumbs up, perhaps at the expense of his next grab for the increasingly frustrated ball.
Finally, as the Kaffle was hurled back into play by the again successful Keeper, Elias caught it. He snatched the round leather object and kicked the broom into high gear, faster than he had ever ridden before, which really wasn't saying much. Dipping out of the way of someone zooming across sky at an alarming rate, he blazed forward, already tasting victory.
He swooped by the hoops and launched the ball towards his goal with every ounce of strength he had- and the dude blocked it. Wow, ok. Rude.

┌ ┐ Daniel had to consciously think about heading for the bludgers rather than the quaffles, but even then he had a moment. Despite training for this position for a few days, the habits of being a Chaser would always win out. It was only when he almost dropped his bat that he remembered his objective. Focus, he thought to himself. There was someone watching and he had to impress her.
Before he could do that, he needed to figure out where to throw the bludger. He didn't quite know who to hit and how hard. So, he let his arm swing as hard as he deemed necessary and let the bludger do the rest. Incredulously, the bludger hit its mark. Daniel sent an air first up and cheered. Surely the girl was watching that impressive blow. Bad news? It hit his tent-mate Judas. Daniel quickly flew away and pretended nothing happened. Seeing another flyer go down relieved Daniel a little bit. His fellow beater had done their job.
The dread didn't stop there, however. Said fellow beater soon hit the ground with a terrible bludger directed at him. Daniel cursed in Spanish words I do not want to write out. Hopefully things wouldn't go south from here.└ ┘

She let out a wild laugh as she grabbed the quaffle, strands of wild brown-red hair slipping out of her ponytail in the wind as she did so. This was what living was. High in the air, going fast and beating the other team without question. She easily snatched the quaffle against the other chaser flying against her, and scored a solid first goal past their keeper. And a solid second goal. This was what she dragged herself out of bed every morning to work out for, this was being alive. On her third attempt at the goal however, the keeper finally woke up and saved her attempt. Dammit. While she was distracted from her failed throw, the other chaser managed to grab the quaffle and take an attempt at her teams go.
Thankfully, her keeper blocked it easily. She shook her head, annoyed with herself. All this training and she missed and let another chaser run off with the ball? The only thing to do about this was do better. Taking a look around at the rest of the field, it didn't look like either of the seekers had spotted the elusive snitch. The bludgers though, did not favour their team. No. One of their beaters, an upper year who she had been betting on to decimate the other team had been knocked off in the very first round. He did shoot off a bludger that made contact before he fell, but if the other guy was still sitting on his broom that was a loss. The ricochet did hit one of the other teams chasers, knocking her out of play. Daniel had more luck, successfully knocking one of her tentmate (who was currently the enemy) off his broom and out of play. That was two chasers down for them at least. Less competition for her.

Aston stayed silent all the way until the match started, not too sure what he should say. He leaped up into the air with everyone else, eager to get started. The game began normally, some red haired girl scored twenty points for the opposite team, not a great start. Prat doesn't seem to have any idea where the snitch was, make sense, it's only at the start of the game and Prat is far better with spells as far as Aston knows. I do wonder how well he will do, I don't think I've ever seen him play any kind of match.
Aston and the other beater, I think her name is Promise? A fellow Ravenclaw. teamed up to try to knock one of the older beaters off. Aston thought it'd be a good strategy since the opposite team having more experienced members, especially more experienced beaters, can't be a good thing for them. Aston smiled at how he and his teammate managed to knock the opposite team beater off, sadly he gave Aston a parting gift before falling. In the form of a bludger heading straight at him. Aston was not skilled enough to avoid the bludger entirely, to be honest he did get hit quite badly, but at least he didn't fall off. A few of his teammates did fall off their brooms during the chaos but Aston occupied to help.

The game was going on with as much enthusiasm as Prat had expected. However Prat was a little too confused about the game, this was his first game as a player afterall. He understood a few things and didn't understand a few others. Flying on that broom Prat only had one job to do, locate the snitch and grab it for his team. Something that would result in their victory as of now.
Even after looking for a long time, most Prat got was a glint of it's gold exterior. After several glances and attempts to find it. He could not locate the snitch. Thankfully neither could their opponents as they too were unable to even find it, much less obtain it in their hands.
Prat however did notice Aston and another player called Promise successfully bludger a player from the other team. "OOh that must have hurt!" Prat thought to himself as he flew around hoping no one decided to target him with that thing. He wasn't sure if he bones could even take that kind of hit. Later he even saw Aston taking a similar hit but thankfully he was still in game.
It was lowkey a sight to see seeing little kids getting blown off brooms and getting their asses kicked. Prat would not wish that upon his worst enemies and there they were, doing it willingly.

Roleplaying as Hans Jenssen
Today was Hans' first Quidditch match with an actual, full team, and with his usual bloated ego, he was doing pretty well. Even Cyrus, the Duck Lord in charge of the whole game, dropped his jaw at Hans' block. Despite the urge to join in the grab for a Quaffle, Hans had stood his guard at his post and it seemed to have payed of. A brunet boy with piercing blue eyes he had never seen before prior to the game had attempted to lob a Quaffle his way, which he had blocked without much effort. It made the job as a Keeper quite simple: protect the hoops from the Chasers, similar to a goalkeeper in the Muggle sports he was so fond of. Dusting off his clothing casually, almost in mockery of the boy's effort, he nodded in acknowledgement and grinned devilishly, as if signalling that his team was about to lose.
With his duty performed, Hans turned his eyes to the more... exciting side of Quidditch: the Bludgers and the violence that accompanied them. Surprise flashed over Hans' face as their possibly most valuable player, was knocked off the air by the combined strength of nobodies from the opposing team.

RPing as Zophyr Qethnis from Uagadou Genderfluid, pronouns at the moment: she/her☽ Kirundi | French | English | Swahili | Arabic | Tswana | Xhosa ☾The duck guy was certainly someone to be around - Zophyr felt like he'd somehow been made out of sunlight, the way he radiated happiness all the time. It was almost contagious. Zophyr nodded pensively when Cyrus mused about the fact that ducks could catch themselves if they fell off a broom. She was glad he was taking her question seriously, as unserious as it might have sounded. He seemed like that kind of guy. "That would make sense... you think they'd be able to grip them properly, though?"
Date: July 25 2024
Time: 8:30 Interacting with: Cyrus duck guy @Koko Riddle, @Evelynn Decipio
Mentioning: teammates
It was only then that she noticed the look the older redhead was giving them - clearly she was not aware of the boy's passion for ducks. Her confusion nearly made Zophyr laugh, but she held herself back. Surprisingly, the redhead did not ask, just moved on. The Uagadou student decided not to explain. It was so much more entertaining that way.
The game began, and the older girl and Zophyr made their way to the bench. She'd heard her introduce herself as the second-string seeker, and it seemed the two were on the same team. From the way she hadn't asked about the ducks, Zophyr had been expecting a quiet, non-conversational type, but it seemed she'd guessed wrong. "Good to meet you, I'm Zophyr. Qethnis. From Uagadou." She gave Decipio (whether that was her first or last name, Zophyr did not know) a side smile as she shook her hand back. This girl was intriguing.
"Yes, quite a few times," Zophyr replied to her second question. "I'm one of Uagadou's usual beaters." She was about to ask the question back, but the game was really beginning now and she was sucked into it.
Not only that, but the redhead was commenting, and Zophyr quickly got the feeling she very much knew her way around Quidditch. And around some of the people playing, as well. Zophyr remained silent, finding it easier to observe everything going on that way.
Another surprise came when Decipio made good on her promise to help out the duck dude. A good half-dozen spells (or something, they were all so quick and Zophyr didn't even know some of them) came out of her mouth, stopping the descending unconscious and then healing them. For once in her life, Zophyr was distracted from a Quidditch game. "Is that the... Vyacheslav you mentioned earlier?" She had definitely messed up that name, oh well. "Have you done this kind of thing before? Healing during games?"

Roleplaying as approved iNPC Irina Liliya Zvereva
The match soon began. All the players rose in the air, Irina staying near the goal baskets. This was her job as keeper and she was there to fulfill it. She watched as the quaffle was getting thrown around. The same chaser Acacia, @Cass Ito would arrive at the goal posts 4 times. She shot two goals that got past her but on her last 2 tries, Iriliya managed to stop the quaffle. Their own chaser managed to snatch the quaffle once, but it didn’t make it past. How sad.
The beaters honestly had a real party. Irina watched as their own two beaters, who were honestly little children managed to knock an entire, grown senior (who looked like a seventh year) Slava, @Ruby Cazares off his broom. Judging by the fact that she herself wasn’t the strongest, she cheered on, pretty impressed. Let’s go! That was awesome! Keep it up guys! They will go DOWN! Of course, she spoke in Ukrainian, a language that they probably wouldn’t understand. Who cares, she will of course speak in that language, a lot of them probably knew Russian.
Two of her teammates though were knocked of their brooms. One of Team 1’s beaters got hit, @Aston Beckett but he surprisingly didn’t fall. Irina flinched. That must have hurt. The bludgeoned somehow ricocheted to another student Aurélie, @Ophelia Northwell, who wasn’t so lucky and fell off her broom. The other enemy beater hit one of their teammates too, Judas, @Rebecca Lark, who just like that girl, got blasted off his broom. Irina looked away for the moment. How could people be so brutal. Well, wasn’t she brutal with spells? People fall unconscious in duels too. […]
The seekers were not in such a good fate. Both of them seemed to be going around, searching for something, the golden snitch. None of them were heading in a specific direction, they didn’t seem to find it. And the outcome of the whole game depended on them. Poor kids, that is for sure a huge weight to bear. Ant that snitch moved so fast. Iriliya felt some sympathy for them.I bet they’ll be frustrated right now. And, tired of searching too. It was no easy game, most of them probably being amateurs and young students (well, maybe not the seventh year they threw off that broom, he seemed to really know what he was doing). They had to make it though. So, Irina stood there ready in the air, thinking about what she can do to help her team. At all costs.
