27TH OF JUNE, 2026 CASTELOBRUXO GROUNDS

The sun hung low in the sky, filtering warm light through thin clouds and providing a pleasant atmosphere. Seers foretold that the chance of downpour was low, but never zero. With that in mind, Naiane was keen to begin.

Visitors from all over the world had graced the grounds with their presence; many of whom knew little about their school. So it was only natural to satiate their curiosity regarding the local herd. At least, that was what Headmaster Santiago insinuated when he handed her this assignment. After begrudgingly accepting, Naiane sought some assistance from her eager peers and rounded up a few of the infamous animals who dwelled here.

Once the guests gathered around, she straightened her posture before addressing them clearly. “Good morning, everyone.” Her lips quirked into the semblance of a smile that never reached her vacant eyes. “Thank you for coming here. My name is Naiane, and I will be introducing you to some our animals,” she explained before stepping closer to the herd.

LLAMAS
“We will begin with our llamas,” Naiane said and brought her hands together with a soft clap. “You will find that they are incredibly intelligent and calm creatures, but you must earn their trust in order to receive their affections.” How exactly would they come to trust these random strangers lovely guests? Hopefully through the promise of delicious food. Her plan was not foolproof, but it was a plan nonetheless.

“Now onto introductions,” she hummed as the tallest alpaca approached her. “This is André, the herd’s alpha,” she introduced the dark brown llama who stood proudly. “As some of you may have noticed, he is usually the first to approach visitors. He’s also very protective of the other llamas,” she added before the corners of her lips curled slightly. “Though don’t let that fool you, he’s also a diva who always has to choose his meal before any of the others. So keep that in mind,” she remarked. Some silent nods could be seen amongst the surrounding students.

“Though llamas typically avoid physical contact, proper training has allowed many of them to become more comfortable with being petted,” Naiane explained before turning to André. With an open palm, she gently patted his dense yet plush guard hairs. Though he remained calm during her demonstration, he seemed too busy eying one of the visiting students to care for cuddles at the moment. A new friend perhaps?

Naiane then directed the crowd’s attention to a llama with a silvery roan coat. “Over here, we have Princesa. You may see her spitting at other llamas, but don’t worry, she won’t do the same to you if you remain respectful. That’s simply her way of rejecting suitors,” she tried to sound reassuring, but noticed a few worried glances being exchanged amongst the crowd. Oops. Perhaps this was not the sort of information she needed to divulge, but she continued anyway. “I think more people should aspire to have high standards like her,” she mused. It may have seemed safe to assume that was a slip of dry humour, but she meant every word. Whilst Princesa was initially basking in the attention from the guests, she was now too busy glaring at another llama to be fussed. Taking that as her cue to distance herself, Naiane shuffled over to the next fluffy friend.

“Our friend over here is called João. He’s only slightly younger than André and is very laid back. The popular opinion around here is that he has the most adorable eyes,” she said, her eye twitching slightly upon using that word. “But, you need to keep an eye on him because he’s very mischievous,” she cautioned, raising a single finger. “If you aren’t careful, he can steal hats off people’s heads and has even proudly tipped grain barrels open before. Still, he is widely loved… by those who do not wear hats.” João, who was oblivious to the slander, would simply stare at her with his doe eyes before fixing his gaze on an unlucky wizard who donned a cap.

ALPACAS
“Now, let’s move over to our alpacas. As you can see, they are typically smaller than the llamas and have a less elongated face,” she explained, using her hands to highlight each feature. “Although they don’t spit often, they will do so when they feel threatened. So play nicely,” she said with an icy tone. Although she was certain none of the guests held malicious intent towards the animals, Naiane could never be too certain.

A light fawn alpaca then moved towards her with a bounce in her step, prompting Naiane to gently pat her shoulders. “This is Carminha,” she introduced. “As you can see, she’s not as shy as the others and really enjoys dancing around from every now and then. The smallest things make her excited, so she never seems to be having a bad day,” she explained whilst wishing that she shared more common traits with her fluffy friend.

“Then, we have Lua,” she smiled, introducing the smallest alpaca with dense, white fur. “Shes quieter than the others, but incredibly gentle. It's best to let her observe you and approach first.” Naiane’s expression slowly turned solemn. “Please, never approach either alpacas or llamas from behind as you may startle them,” she warned with a stern gaze. “If they feel threatened, they may kick with their hind legs.” Though such an occurance was rare amongst the herd, it was not improbable.

Her gaze then swept over the crowd to ensure no one was confused before she continued. “When petting them, please keep your palm open so that you never grab them. Doing so might make them think you are a predator.” Naiane demonstrated by brushing the back of her hand gently against Lua’s back. Once the alpaca seemed satisfied, she stepped away and turned her attention to the smallest cohort.

GUINEA PIGS
“Finally, allow me to introduce you to some of the smallest animals we raise — guinea pigs.”

Naiane reached down and carefully picked one with a dark olive-brown fur. “Cena here, is a very curious guinea pig who always rushes to investigate new objects. You may find it easier to approach Cena over the others.” After being set back down, Cena scurried over to one of the nearby visitors.

Naiane then picked up a guinea pig with a greyish coat. “Amália always seems to have more energy than the rest. She is easily excited, so you may often see her popcorning when something interesting is happening,” she explained before gently placing her down. As foretold, Amália leapt into the air and kicked her little legs out.

“And then we have…” She paused to let out a pained sigh. “...Thales Jr, one of our youngest guinea pigs,” she gently lifted up the reddish-brown guinea pig and rested him on her arm. There were a few snickers amongst the students, some more obvious than others, that made her displeasure difficult to hide. “He has the softest coat, but also a bit of an attitude problem, so please be patient with him.” Once Thales Jr was gently placed back onto the grass, he began rumble-strutting towards the other guinea pigs.

“You may step forward if you wish to pet or feed any of the animals. If needed, I will guide you on how to properly approach them,” Naiane then directed the visitors to an array grasses, grain and legumes that they could offer to the animals. “And, if you have any questions, please ask.”

The warm sunshine of Brazil was a welcome change from the weather Rosy was used to back home in England. She was one of the Hogwarts students who had come to visit Castelobruxo, and she had spent most of her time exploring the beautiful grounds and learning about the school's culture. The greenery around the castle was lush and the wildlife she saw from time to time in the distance colorful. Everything was bright.

Rosy knew she wanted to go when she heard visitors would be able to meet some of Castelobruxo's resident animals. Ever since she was a girl she had had a great interest in animals, and she could not resist a chance to learn about creatures that she had little opportunity to see.

Rosy arrived at the meeting place, adjusted the strap on her bag, and merged with the crowd. Students and visitors gathered and a few fluffy animals grazed peacefully close by. She could see from a distance that some were bigger than she had thought.

Rosy listened to Naiane introduce herself and start explaining the activity. Rosy thought she knew her stuff, and even if she was a little too serious, Rosy was grateful that she explained everything so well.

She was immediately interested in the introductions of the llamas. Her gaze settled on Andre the dark brown llama who looked to be the leader of the herd. He looked confident enough to merit the title, surely.

Rosy smiled faintly at his comment about him always picking his food first. For some reason she found it funny that even animals could have such strong personalities. As Naiane spoke, André was increasingly turning into an opinionated mayor—the sort who thinks he has a monopoly on the truth.

When she was introduced, Rosy’s attention shifted to Princesa. The silver-coated llama looked lovely, but the mention of spitting had Rosy straightening up a bit straight away.

She wasn’t scared or anything, but she certainly made a mental note to follow instructions to the letter. She didn't want to be spat on by an offended llama as part of her travel experience.

When João was introduced Rosy could not. Laugh quietly to herself. The idea of a llama that stole hats seemed like something a mischievous student at Hogwarts would do, not an animal.

She thought to herself "At least I am not wearing a hat ". She felt pleased with herself for thinking ahead. Rosy looked around briefly wondering if any visitors would soon find out about Joãos reputation for stealing hats.

As Naiane started talking about the alpacas Rosy found herself comparing them to the llamas. The alpacas looked smaller. They seemed even fluffier than the llamas.

One alpaca named Carminha really stood out to Rosy. There was something about an animal that got excited about small things. Rosy wished she could be that excited every morning before her classes at Hogwarts.

Then Rosy saw Lua, a white alpaca that seemed gentle and calm. Rosy listened carefully as Naiane explained how to approach Lua. Naiane warned them not to sneak up behind the animals, which seemed like advice to Rosy.

Rosy liked learning about how to take care of the animals. She did not want to scare them by doing something

Then it was time to see the guinea pigs.

Rosys face lit up with a smile.

The guinea pigs were really cute.

One guinea pig named Cena was very curious which Rosy liked. She enjoyed watching animals explore their surroundings. Rosy thought that a curious guinea pig like Cena probably got into all sorts of situations.

Another guinea pig named Amália was also very entertaining. Rosy watched as Amália showed how excited she was. The little guinea pig had a lot of energy for something small.

By the time they introduced Thales Jr Rosy was really interested in the presentation. When she heard that Thales Jr had an attitude problem she could not. Smile.

Rosy thought to herself "There is always one troublemaker " and she watched Thales Jr with interest.

When it was time for visitors to approach the animals Rosy waited patiently. She did not want to overwhelm the animals with many people at once.

Eventually Rosy got some food for the animals. Carefully approached the enclosure. She remembered what Naiane had told her: to keep her palm open move and let the animals decide if they wanted to come near her.

Rosy crouched down. Held out her hand staying very still. She did not want to scare the animals so she waited for them to come to her. Whether the animals came near her. Not Rosy was happy just to watch them.

As she waited Rosy looked at all the animals again. Each one had its personality, habits and quirks. Some seemed confident others seemed cautious and some just wanted food.

This made Rosy smile.

She had never really thought about how work it took to care for animals like these. It was not easy to feed them train them and make sure they were healthy and happy.

The more Rosy stood there the more she appreciated the students and staff who took care of the animals. It was clear that they put a lot of love and effort into making the animals happy.

As the morning went on Rosy stayed near the animals listening to people talk watching the animals and taking notes in a notebook. The sunshine, the atmosphere and the chance to learn something new made for a perfect morning at Castelobruxo.

It was the kind of experience Rosy hoped to remember long after she went back, to Hogwarts.

Damien never knew that a petting zoo could be so much fun, he has heard about them many times before but never experienced one before today and as he walked through the place only one thought came to mind, they should have had one during the summer camp last year that would have been so cool. He couldn’t stop thinking about it because the Llamas and Alpacas as well as the genuine pigs were just so adorable and he honestly didn’t know where to start first. He wasn’t wearing his usual sweaters like he normal would be found in, instead he was wearing a blue button up shirt along with khaki shorts and his blue converse shoes which his mother had surprised him with one year.

It was quite hot since summer was soon on the horizon and Damien didn’t want to have a heat stroke. If anyone was to pay attention to him they would notice how he looked slightly muscular. It wasn’t much muscles at least not right now but it was slowly forming. The definition was really noticeable in his leg muscles from all of those stairs he would climb everyday up and down from the Ravenclaw tower to the Astronomy tower seemed to help him out a lot. He was currently wearing the little star shape sunglasses Elena had given to him that happened to light up. It was a very pleasant gift for his birthday and he adored it quite a lot as they came in handy many times whenever the sun was too bright outside. As he stood trying to decide where to go first he decided to turn his attention to the cute curly hair blonde boy that was quite beside him.

“Artie, where would you like to go first ?” Damien figured the polite thing to do would be to ask Artie where he wanted to go as Artie would likely want to see every animal and if that was the case then Damien didn’t mind it on bit at all as he quoted enjoyed when him and Artie spent time together so why would he complain. Damien suddenly remembered something very important, he slowly pulled out an extra water bottle out of the bag he brought with them before holding it out to Artie and giving him a very charming smile, to Damien it’s just how he always smile but to other and possibly Artie it could be interpretation as a flirtatious smile. “here, you might need this in case you’re thirsty so I brought this for you!” He just stared at him still smiling those grayish blue eyes staring into Arties charmingly.

Out of all the international schools Camille had the displeasure of visiting so far, the South American one had managed to exceed his low expectations. They were not expected to lodge in tents—or in yurts, as the Russians called the more glamorous version of it. Instead he’d been assigned a maloca, which had pleasantly surprised him in design, with its spacious beds, private terrace and luxurious silk curtains to allow for airflow. Castelobruxo had somehow succeeded where Hogwarts failed, which came to absolutely no surprise at this point. Clearly, some people had taste, and care about the comfort of their students and guests. Even the meals were personalized and served at the comfort of their accommodations by the resident elves. He’d quite enjoyed the welcome feast, too, reminding him of a cosy garden restaurant with a proper menu, instead of the barbaric display at the all-you-can-eat buffet table he was used to witnessing back at Hogwarts.

Absurdly, Camille had almost forgotten how much of a difference image-consciousness affected the overall experience, and how much it suffered when there were none. Granted, the humidity was not for the weak, not even for Camille, who was used to the excruciatingly hot summers in France, but the accommodations made up for any climatic inconveniences. Besides, it felt more like a tropical vacation than a school trip, and if there was one thing the French boy needed after another semester of English nonsense, it was a vacation. The animals roaming between the grounds added a curated kind of wilderness to the atmosphere, more aesthetic than agricultural, as though even the nature around the school building had been arranged with intention. An excursion to study soil and farming techniques would not have appealed to him in the slightest, yet when everyone gathered the morning after the games, Camille still found his way to the alpaca feeding. He’d spread the curtains that morning, breathing in the tropical air refreshed and in a dapper mood. No bunkbed. No English breakfast. No Lorenzo. Life hadn’t felt so uncomplicated in a long time. It was a rare occurrence that he felt so content with something out of his control.

The arrangement did its best to spare them the worst of the Amazonas humidity, though the UV index remained insistently high. In preparation, he had dressed accordingly: a fabulous straw sunhat, with a silk scarf tied neatly beneath it. He was not so much dressed for feeding than simply watching it unfold, and he’d be the most stylish wizard while doing so.

A Castelobruxo girl that couldn’t be older than him, distinctive by her deadly serious expression, was in charge of the animal tour. To her credit, she handled the group with an efficiency that didn’t seem to leave room for argument. As the different llamas, alpacas and even guinea pigs were introduced by name and temperament, Camille stood idly, listening with one ear while keeping a keen eye on the other participants, and whether they behaved accordingly. Some, like Damien, acted more like he was a part of a petting zoo than a lecture. It was clear by the way Naiane spoke about the animals, paired with her serious aura, that these animals were treated with more dignity and respect than simple cattle or entertainment props. Camille rolled his eyes at some of his housemates, trying to bring his focus on to the purpose.

Spitting was mostly reserved for the pathetic suitors. When Naiane mused, “I think more people should aspire to have high standards like her,” Camille agreed in amusement with an almost absent sound. He glanced at the llama with the white coat who was glaring at one of her peers, establishing that her reputation was indeed earned. Not even in the animal kingdom could you avoid unwanted advances from lowly commoners, Camille thought with an exasperated sigh, as if he could relate. They moved on to the last llama, João, who was apparently famously known for stealing people’s hats. The information registered without much thought. Not even when the animal zoomed in on Camille with keen, doe eyes did he think he was in trouble, having almost forgotten that he was currently wearing a custom Louis Vuitton. That was, until João had strutted over and reached its long neck up towards the top of his head to attempt to snag it off his head.

His hand lifted to redirect the llama’s advances, but failed. "My hat!" He exclaimed.

The fabulous hat was ripped off his head, but before it could be chewed into pieces, it dropped onto the ground. The sudden movement seemed to scare the animal away to bother someone else. As it should, Camille muttered to himself, watching the brown, hairy hindquarters of the llama disappear with a playful bounce in its stride. He reached to pick up his hat from the ground, dusting it off from any dirt and grime before elegantly placing it back on his head. A cold glare was reserved for the fluffy culprit, during which Camille missed most of the alpaca introductions. The last he heard before they were left to their own devices was the guinea pig with an attitude problem: Thales Junior. A few students laughed in the background, clearly knowing something he did not. Honestly, he didn’t particularly care to know.

“What an interesting name,” he said with slight irony, before drifting closer to the white-coated llama, Princesa, who clearly had the most standard in this place. Carefully, he reached out a hand to let her sniff his scent. A cautious eye glanced around him once in a while, in case an evil llama would return to finish what he started.

It feels like she just coming home. Animals here. Another animals there. The only difference with her pa's herd is just this one here have much more exotic animals she couldn't even imagine before coming here. She nearly jumped of excitement, to be honest, but she didn't wants people looking at her weird so she keep her cool and could only clenched her fist until the guide for this tour, Naiane, if she's not mistaken, allowed the visitors to openly interact with these cuties.

Millie, with her experience with the animals back at her home, knows exactly not to approached them so suddenly, worst from behind. She just watched from the proper distance as Naiane pointed one of the alpaca named Lua. That one cutie is indeed quieter than her friends. Shy. Timid. But the look she gave Millie with those bead eyes ... Millie could only clenched her fist tighter. Too cute!

Until one moment she felt a tug, there was a cutie llama pulling on her clothes. Not with that strong pull, but if he got more motivated, Millie believes her clothes will be a rag after this. She bending over a little, patted his head with her open palm as she try to remember. João, is it?

As if he can read what she just thought, João tugged Millie's clothes once again, now with his head slightly looking to the side as if he wants to tell her something on his mind. Then with that guess, Millie followed where João pointed on, and immediately spotted one of the visitors who coincidentally wore a nice hat. And that, she remember what Naiane had just said about João's trait that he likes to steal visitor's hat just for fun. Oh no. You bad boy! That's not a good idea, João!

Too bad, Millie can't stop João's misbehaving on time as she already saw how that cutie but oh so mischievous llama munching the visitor's hat off their head as if it was just like like his food. Not stoping there, João then just spit the hat on the ground when he became bored of it, and stepped on it while he just casually walked back to his friends. ... She don't know what to say. At least, that hat can still be saved as the owner took it back from the ground where João spat and step on it just a moment ago.

Millie then approaching another kind of animals, the guinea pigs, while also grabbing their food to give it to them. She crouched down, gently shoving the food in her open palm to the nearest guinea pigs from her. The one guinea pig with olive-brown fur, Cena, even from distance, quickly scurry over to Millie, grabbing the legume out her hand and just shoved them to its tiny mouth. So greedy. Millie chuckled, shaking her head as she move her hand so the other guinea pigs can still grab their portion. Cena, from the look on its face, looks like it was about to protest. Either because disappointed or maybe Cena have found another more interesting thing, Cena scurry back away to another visitors at the another side of Millie.

Realizing the first batch she gave is almost run out while there still much of guinea pigs not yet got their portion from her, Millie took another legumes with her free hand. But just as she was about to hand them their second batch of legumes, all of sudden the greyish guinea pig landed on Millie's palm and the legumes just fell and scattered all over the ground, causing the other waiting guinea pigs to immediately go for it. This greyish guinea pig, while looked like wanted to escape for something or what, but already too late when the other guinea pig with reddish-brown coat climbing on Millie's hand and attack the greyish one. Never expected it will come a brawl between guinea pigs, Millie reflexively separated them immediately. Once she do that, the greyish guinea pig already flew away when she got that chance. So there's the reddish-brown remaining with her. Millie just stared at that lil naughty, which he stare back with an innocent look like he hadn't done anything wrong. Millie shook her head disapprovely, then tickling his tummy with her finger as his little punishment.

Fawkes heard there was going to be a petting zoo during their visit to Castelobruxo. She wasn't always the most fond of animals but it never hurt to go learn about local fauna. Especially since it was her first time here. With that in mind she made her way over to the area.

There were numerous other people also come to see the animals. She recognised some of them as well. She turned to face the person who would be introducing them to the animals today. Her name was Naiane was it? Atleast, that's what she heard. For some reason she felt a mild sense of unease from her. She shook it off it was probably nothing right?

Regardless she focused on the animals being introduced instead, the first of which were the Llamas. She watched in awe as they came closer willingly to be pet. She listened attentively to each of their names. There was André, the biggest of the lot. Then there was Princesa who seemed to act much like her name. After that they were introduced to João. He seemed to be the most calm of them all.

Next they moved onto the Alpacas. They were smaller than the Llamas but were equally as cute. Their smaller size made them look cuter in her opinion. Carminha looked elegant and definitly looked the part of being a dancer. Lua was even smaller and therefore even cuter. Of course all of them were adorable no doubt.

The last of the animals were Guinea pigs. They were so small and so increadibly adorable just like all the other animals here. Cena seemed to be rather friendly. She bent down to pet Cena lightly. Amália reminded Fawkes of Seren. The greyish coat was quite similar. There was also Thales Jr. who seemed to be the hardest to deal with out of all of them.

Before she could decide which of the animals to interact with first she felt a sense of unease. She looked up to see the girl, Naiane just staring at her. Fawkes blinked and stared back. There was this unease that crept up her spine. Something wasn't right. She knew this. But at the same time she couldn't place quite what was wrong. Was it the way she stood? No that would be ridiculous. Feeling uneasy cause of how someone stood? Yeah right.

The girl continued to stare right into her eyes. It was as if she was staring right into her soul. It was concerning. Fawkes shifted from one foot to another attempting to avert her eyes but every time she looked back at Naiane she was still staring right at her. Fawkes took a step backwards and then turned to face some of the animals but she could most definitly still feel her eyes staring holes into the back of her skull.

She tried to shake it off by instead going to pet and feed the animals. They were much more adorable and calming than that girl. She reached to pet one of the llamas. Their fur was super soft and fluffy. Fawkes sighed softly feeling calmer again. She then moved onto the alpacas, holding out a hand to feed them. Last but not least, the guinea pigs. Cute, tiny balls of fluff that reminded her about her darling little cat. She played with them for a few minutes.

When she was done with the animals, thankfully, Naiane seemed to be occupied elsewhere. She shivered slightly at how her eyes were staring at her so intensly. She moved further away from the are hoping that the unease she felt from the girl would go away.

As soon as Haeli got close, she knew she was in her happy place. Anywhere near animals. She could smell them; most people say that they stink, but she's always thought they smell comforting. Back home she lives on a farm. She has all kinds of animals: horses, llamas, cows, goats, sheep, dogs, a cat, and even a couple of donkeys. She hadn't experienced being near animals since she had been at Hogwarts, and she missed them a lot. All around her there were people. Everywhere. She looked around to see if she knew anyone here. She had asked her friends a couple of nights ago if they were planning to go, but they all had other things to do, so she came alone.

There was a lady standing a little bit further away from the crowd; it looked like she was going to be the one to introduce the animals. Haeli was so excited she wanted to spin and laugh and smile. But she didn't want to look like a weirdo around the others, so she just smiled.

The lady introduced herself first. She told the group her name was Naiane. She started with the llamas. Haeli was eager to pet a llama again. Back home, they were her favorite. Naiane introduced a llama named André. He was the alpha of the herd. He was friendly towards Haeli and the group of students around him. Naiane told them that llamas aren't really that interested in being pet, but these llamas had special training to where they don't mind it. After she said that, there were a few kids in the crowd who seemed unhinged, like they really felt the need to pet André.

But Naiane moved on to a llama with a silvery roan coat. She introduced this llama as Princesa. Princesa reminded Haeli of the alpha back home. The silvery coat and the spitting at the other llamas were exactly what Sergio, her llama back home, did. Naiane explained that Princesa rejected her suitors by spitting at them, petting her as she spoke.

After that, she moved on to the next llama, João. She explained that he was mischievous. He reminded Haeli of her dorm mates in that way—they were always looking to do something crazy. The mischievous João became Haeli's favorite very quickly. As she looked at him, she could tell there seemed to be something special about him. Haeli really wanted to get closer to João, but before she could, Naiane moved on to the alpacas.

Haeli never really had much experience with alpacas. She had fed one before at a petting zoo. She enjoyed that, but she was excited that she would get to learn something new about the alpacas here at Castelobruxo, or just alpacas in general. Naiane told them about an alpaca that hopped up to her. Her name was Carminha, and she was a light fawn color. Naiane told them that she likes to dance. Haeli found that funny. She had only seen a horse dance at a dressage competition before; it never really clicked in her head that if a horse could do it, then other animals must be able to as well.

Naiane moved on to introducing the smallest alpaca to the crowd. Her name was Lua. She was cute, being so small compared to the others. Haeli wondered if she was just a runt and was as big as she was going to get, or if she was younger than the others and was still going to grow.

Naiane explained to the group to never approach a llama nor alpaca from behind. She told them that it could cause them to kick, which Haeli already knew. She went on to tell them how to pet them, saying to use an open palm so you don't grab them. Haeli knew that too. She was happy to have past experience; it made her feel like she was one step ahead of everyone else, which she always tried to be.

Naiane moved on to the smallest of all of the animals: Guinea Pigs. Haeli had never owned a guinea pig, but she had friends who did. Naiane introduced a dark olive-brown guinea pig named Cinna. His name reminded Haeli of Cinna from The Hunger Games, a series she and her dorm mates were obsessed with. Naiane moved on after putting Cinna down, but Haeli ignored her and watched him instead. She enjoyed watching him; he was very curious and liked to run around his home.

As Naiane wrapped up, Haeli was feeling tired. She was ready to get back to Hogwarts and tell her friends all about the animals.

Prove them wrong. Twice.

Because the early day atmosphere was heated yet gentle against the flesh of Denisse, the sun beams were observed to be dividing the canopy and marking the golden pyramid tiers. While the stone walkway was navigated by Denisse with caution, the bright hair of Katya caught the illumination when the cat moved by her side. Every part of the rainforest thrummed with life when birds flitting overhead, vines slithering across basalt walls, the distant sound of the waterfall concealing the school from the outside world.

She joined the gathering near the open field where Naiane was already with the herd, their long necks lifting with curiosity as Denisse approached with the crowd.

Alpacas and llamas chewed placidly. Denisse's heart gave a little flutter; she'd seen them from afar before, but never this close.

"This," Naiane announced, her voice clear and strong, "is André, the herd's alpha," Denisse's eyes widened at him. He was quite an imposing figure, almost regal. Denisse held out a handful of grain with an open palm to him and André nibbled on it happily. Naiane's warning that Princesa had very high standards prompted Denisse to stifle a chuckle. Just the mention of João made her instinctively clutch the top of her head. "Now," Naiane said, as a small flock of alpacas were brought forward, "let's move over to our alpacas."

Denisse felt her heart melt as Carminha began to bounce, a livelier version of Katya's playful side. Lua's quiet elegance put Denisse in mind of her own nature. "When petting them, please keep your palm open so that you never grab them."

Denisse sank down to her knees, and followed Naiane's instructions.

Lua approached tentatively and let Denisse stroke her soft, white wool. The contact was light, but it sent warmth through her.

"Finally, allow me to introduce you to some of the smallest animals we raise — guinea pigs."

Denisse giggled as Amália suddenly bounced into the air. She crouched and gently touched Cena's head, mesmerized by the creature's unabashed curiosity. Denisse offered Cena a few blades of grass. Katya, sitting from the sidelines, flicked her tail dismissively as if annoyed that the smaller animals were stealing her thunder.

Denisse felt connected to the golden pyramid, glowing faintly in the distance; the enchanted pathways, each pulsing with a gentle light and flowers of every color; and the animals themselves, whose every movement had added to the enchantment of the day.

"You're so sweet, Lua," she whispered against the hum of the jungle, her words directed at the alpaca grazing peacefully nearby.

Katya gave a happy purr and rubbed against Denisse's hand, and Denisse knew that this morning, amidst the magic of Castelobruxo, would stay with her forever.

The Caverna Uivante… the words sent a chill down Denisse’s spine even when she only heard it spoken in hushed tones, but staring at the edge of the gaping sinkhole now, Denisse finally understood why the place had earned such a grim moniker.

The stone parapet ran the entire edge of the drop, and from the viewing platform below, a spiral of stairs descended into the yawning shadows. A cold breeze rose up from its depths, a phantom moan that had, Denisse suspected, been captured forever and called the cavern’s “howl.”

Katya, tucked safely in her carrier, shifted restlessly, her ears flicking against the sides. Denisse reached down and petted the cat through the mesh.
“It’s just the wind,” she murmured, but a prickle of dread ran down her own spine.

The cavern felt… alive. And ancient. Down she went, the steps themselves seeming to groan under her weight, although only handrails had been added over the centuries of their existence. A damp moss grew along their sides, and a faint trickle of water weeped down them, each drop a sharp, solitary note in the otherwise empty silence. By the time she reached the cavern floor, the humid air of the rainforest was replaced by a damp, earthy chill. And oh, the silence.

It wasn’t complete; there was the soft gurgle of a stream that carved through the cavern floor, shining weakly in the flickering candlelight, the hollow, endless drip of water, and the omnipresent wind howl that snaked up from the abyss.

She approached the shallow pools where food and blankets were stacked in a recess and imagined the werewolf students congregating here when the moon was full. She thought of the Wolfsbane potion and the ridiculous slide-charm used to trap the students inside the cavern – a safe space, and a prison, at the same time. Her eyes traced the damp, mossy walls, stopping here and there to study a faint outline of an animal or an enigmatic figure etched into the stone by hands lost to time. Katya bumped against the door of the carrier.

"It’s beautiful isn’t it?”
Denisse whispered. The wind howled again, a lonely, lost sound that seemed to echo the isolation Denisse herself felt.

The jungle seemed to breathe. It wasn't an illusion caused by the humid heat or by the stories that inevitably arose in places as ancient as Castelobruxo. The entire forest expanded and contracted with an almost imperceptible rhythm, like the chest of a gigantic animal asleep beneath layers of earth, roots, and moss. Each leaf seemed to hold a secret; each vine descended from the heights as if it wanted to write, with its slow swaying, a forgotten language on the air. Even the light of the setting sun arrived differently there, fragmenting into hundreds of golden threads that pierced the canopy and transformed the suspended dust into tiny stars. Stelle remained motionless for a few moments before venturing deeper in with the rest of the students. Her eyes scanned the landscape with that silent curiosity that always accompanied her, unable to rush her gaze when the world took such pains to be beautiful. The scent of damp bark, freshly turned earth, and tropical flowers growing hidden among the vegetation created a new fragrance, completely different from that of the Hogwarts grounds. It was a lush, almost untamed place, where nature seemed to proudly remember that it had existed long before any castle or school of magic.

Only then did she glance down at her classmates who were beginning to gather for capture the flag. A small smile appeared on her lips. She had always enjoyed team games; some became strategists; others ran driven solely by enthusiasm. Some protected without being asked, while others found paths no one else had seen. Stelle carefully adjusted the strap of her bag over her shoulder and let out a calm breath. There was something deeply reassuring about the way some animals observed the world. They didn't judge the elegance of a robe, the purity of a family name, or the skill of a wand. They looked at her with the honesty of those who only asked one thing before approaching: Are you kind? Perhaps that's why she had always felt it easier to understand creatures than many people. While Naiane spoke, she listened with almost reverential attention. She didn't just pay attention to the explanations; she also observed the way the woman moved her hands, how the animals responded to her voice, the gentleness with which she stroked their fur. She had learned long ago that genuine affection almost never made a sound. It was a succession of small gestures: an open palm, a slow movement, the patience to wait for the other to decide to approach.

Her gaze traveled from one flame to another with a barely visible smile. André possessed the proud serenity of an ancient guardian, like those enormous trees whose age was impossible to calculate. Princess, on the other hand, provoked a silent laugh. She found something strangely admirable in a creature being able to reject suitors with a spit without losing an ounce of dignity. João awakened a different kind of tenderness; Those enormous eyes seemed incapable of hiding mischief for long. However, when Naiane introduced the alpacas, something changed.

Stelle's blue eyes lingered on little Lua. She wasn't the most striking, as Princess called her, with her high standards and flamboyant reddish coat. Nor did she seem to seek anyone's attention. She stood slightly apart, observing the visitors before deciding if any deserved her trust. There was an almost shy delicacy about that white-wool creature, like a cloud that had descended to earth to rest for a moment in the grass. Stelle felt she understood that caution perfectly. She waited patiently for other students to approach first. Some laughed too loudly; others held out their hands with a confidence that seemed hasty. She remained a few steps behind, holding a small handful of grass that Naiane had prepared to feed the animals.

There was no rush. When she finally found a small clearing, she advanced slowly, making sure her boots barely disturbed the grass. She recalled the instructions one by one: never approach from behind, never grab the animal, always keep your palm open. She bent her knees slightly, carefully positioning herself at a less intimidating height.

"Hello..." she whispered, almost a murmur, though she knew Lua probably didn't understand human words. "You don't have to come closer if you don't want to."That phrase came out of her completely naturally. Perhaps because, deep down, it was exactly what she would have liked to hear many times. She slowly extended her hand. A few green leaves rested in her palm, their fresh scent mingling with the damp perfume of the countryside. She remained still, letting Lua decide. For a few seconds, absolutely nothing happened, and yet those seconds seemed to hold all the calm in the world. Finally, the little alpaca tilted its head curiously. It took a step. Then another. Its warm muzzle first touched the air, then the leaves, and finally, the skin of Stelle's hand. The tickling sensation made her stifle a soft laugh as she watched the alpaca begin to eat with an almost ceremonial tranquility.

It was surprising how delicate lips designed for plucking grass could be. Stelle remained still even after the food was gone. Lua didn't move away immediately. She lingered there a few moments longer, as if assessing whether this stranger deserved a little more trust. With infinite slowness, Stelle brought the back of her hand to Naiane's neck, exactly as Naiane had shown. The contact was light, barely a caress on the thick, surprisingly warm wool.

It made her smile, but not a big, loud smile. It was one of those small smiles that came from deep within and took a while to reach the face. She found it wonderful that such a tranquil creature could transmit so much peace without doing anything extraordinary. She simply breathed. She chewed slowly. She observed the world patiently. Perhaps true magic didn't always consist of spells capable of moving mountains. Perhaps it also existed in those tiny moments when two living beings, complete strangers to each other, decided to trust one another for barely a minute. And, for some reason Stelle couldn't explain, that brief moment seemed to her a memory worth keeping forever.

Speech -- Thoughts

The animal enclosure was, by far, one of Pam's favourite stops so far.

Not because she knew anything about llamas. Or alpacas.

Or... if she was being completely honest, because she'd ever particularly wanted to meet either of them.

They were just fluffy.

That alone was enough.

She listened to their guide— Naiane was it? (Pam wondered how the girl spelt her name)— introduce them to the animals with the sort of expression that made it impossible to tell whether she was delivering fascinating facts or subtle threats. Pam had spent the first few minutes trying to work it out before eventually giving up.

You do you, I guess.

By the time everyone had gathered, Pam had already found herself standing near the front of the group, craning her neck not so discreetly in an attempt to get a better look at the herd.

They looked... surprisingly majestic.

Well.

Most of them.

One appeared to be staring rather intently at someone's hat.

Pam quickly removed her own and stuffed it into her bag.

Naiane soon introduced the llama in question as João. Are those names really English? I'm getting a headache trying to pronounce them. Still she found herself fascinated by the creature, so fluffy— "I wonder if he'll like hugs..." She stepped back, startled as the large fluffball swiped at someone's hat. "Hat thief?" she muttered.

Now that one had immediately become Pam's favourite.

She watched João with poorly concealed amusement, fully expecting him to make good on his reputation at any given moment. Every time his attention drifted towards another visitor, Pam found herself following his gaze, half-hoping, half-dreading that she'd witness the perfect crime.

"You are absolutely plotting something," she murmured under her breath.

João blinked back innocently.

"Hat thief." she mumbled again. The phrase reminded her of a book she had read, called "The Book Thief". Admittedly, stealing hats was a lot less tragic than stealing books, but the title alone was enough to send her mind wandering for a moment.

It had been a marvellous read.

It had been one of those books that lingered long after she'd finished the final page. Painfully human, the sort of story that made you sit in silence for a while after closing the cover. Pam could still remember rereading certain passages simply because of how they had been worded.

She made a mental note to read it again once she returned home.

All thoughts about the book flew out of the window as the llama encroached easily into her personal space, and Pam tried to not freak out as she clutched at her bag. "I don't have a hat for you." she warned him, "Don't eat my hair or my bag or something—" Instead of comitting theft, the animal nudged into the side of her head, gentler than she had expected. The tension in her shoulders melted away almost immediately as she reached up, hesitating only briefly before letting her fingers sink into the thick, impossibly soft fleece along his neck.. "Oh? Fluffy..."

Remembering Naiane's instructions, Pam accepted a small handful of grain from the nearby basket before holding it out with an open palm.

João regarded the offering with the seriousness of someone inspecting fine cuisine.

"Don't judge it like that. It's good...I think"

Eventually he leaned forward, surprisingly gentle as he scooped the grain from her hand.

It tickled.

Pam waited there till João lost interest, eventually wandering away in search of someone more interesting—specifically someone wearing a hat.

Pam watched him go before turning her attention toward the tiny white alpaca lingering several steps away.

Lua.

Unlike Carminha, who seemed perfectly content bouncing from person to person, and João who was clearly a menace, Lua kept to herself. By the time Pam had wandered over, Stelle already seemed to have earned Lua's trust.

"Hi." Pam murmured quietly to the girl.

The little alpaca stood beside her, delicately accepting food from an outstretched palm with none of the hesitation she'd shown earlier.

She accepted a small handful of grass from the nearby basket before holding it out the same way, careful to keep her palm flat just as Naiane had instructed.

"I come in peace," she informed Lua solemnly. "...Bearing snacks."

Could the animal sense her nervousness? Like me too please. Pretty please, with sugar and cherry and—

The alpaca stretched her neck forward, her velvety nose brushing lightly against Pam's open palm before nibbling away at the grass.

It tickled.

Pam smiled in quiet triumph.

The victory lasted all of three seconds.

As soon as the last blade of grass had disappeared, Lua wandered right back over to Stelle, as though Pam had merely been a conveniently placed snack dispenser.

"Oh?" Pam blinked, eyes shifting between human and animal and finally settling on the human, "You stole my alpaca..."

"Traitor," Pam said dramatically as Lua ignored her in favour of Stelle. "I thought we had something."

Pam shook her head, pouting, "I'm going back to the hat thief. Maybe if I give him my hat as offering he'll pay more attention to me."
