HAIR : Blonde, straight
EYES : Greenish-blue
SKIN : Tan beige
DETAILS : Smile lines, scarred hands
PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION : Mary has never cared much about her appearance. Growing up as the oldest daughter and helping her family with work, she was always taught to value proficiency over appearance or manners. Her blonde, golden hair is often tied back in a ponytail, a practical style that keeps her long hair out of her eyes while she works. Her clothes are chosen for comfort rather than fashion: shirts with rolled-up sleeves, linen vests to protect against the cold wind, dark-colored pants, and occasionally skirts for special occasions. Even then, the skirts are always practical, not too large, and most likely sewn by her mother’s hands. While some traditional families might think she dresses or looks too boyish, in her community this is the norm. Corsets and lace would not survive the harsh conditions of a boat or the harnesses in the lighthouse, but simple pants and a sweater do.

POSITIVE : Confident, courageous, positive, adventurous
NEUTRAL : Decisive, competitive, carefree, energetic
NEGATIVE : Impatient, impulsive, reckless, stubborn
ALIGNMENT : Chaotic neutral
MENTAL DESCRIPTION : Mary has always been a soldier – from the day she was born, she needed a goal, something to fight for, something to strive toward. She has always been an idealist, refusing to accept the decisions of fate or earthly concerns, always reaching for something greater than human, something truly magical. She has always been stubborn yet deeply intelligent; her unwavering commitment to her beliefs was never rooted in desperation, but in true understanding. She fought for what she believed in, and her morals were so strong that most would be surprised to learn she was only eleven years old, as her dedication to her life’s mission – whatever it was at the time – was always wholehearted. She devoted herself to her dreams as a believer prays to a god, because for her, achievement was religion.

WOOD
ReducioCORECHESTNUT "This is a most curious, multi-faceted wood, which varies greatly in its character depending on the wand core, and takes a great deal of colour from the personality that possesses it. The wand of chestnut is attracted to witches and wizards who are skilled tamers of magical beasts, those who possess great gifts in Herbology, and those who are natural fliers. However, when paired with dragon heartstring, it may find its best match among those who are overfond of luxury and material things, and less scrupulous than they should be about how they are obtained. Conversely, three successive heads of the Wizengamot have possessed chestnut and unicorn wands, for this combination shows a predilection for those concerned with all manner of justice."
ReducioLENGTHUNICORN HAIR "Unicorn hair generally produces the most consistent magic, and is least subject to fluctuations and blockages. Wands with unicorn cores are generally the most difficult to turn to the Dark Arts. They are the most faithful of all wands, and usually remain strongly attached to their first owner, irrespective of whether he or she was an accomplished witch or wizard.
Minor disadvantages of unicorn hair are that they do not make the most powerful wands (although the wand wood may compensate) and that they are prone to melancholy if seriously mishandled, meaning that the hair may ‘die’ and need replacing."
Reducio11 INCHES "Many wandmakers simply match the wand length to the size of the witch or wizard who will use it, but this is a crude measure, and fails to take into account many other, important considerations. In my experience, longer wands might suit taller wizards, but they tend to be drawn to bigger personalities, and those of a more spacious and dramatic style of magic. Neater wands favour more elegant and refined spell-casting. However, no single aspect of wand composition should be considered in isolation of all the others, and the type of wood, the core and the flexibility may either counterbalance or enhance the attributes of the wand’s length."
Inflexible, particularly effective for transfiguration, but a bit less for charms xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

BIOGRAPHY : Mary Littoreus was born on 9 September 2014, a cloudy and rainy autumn day that left her with memories of rain thudding against the roof of their house, as her mother sang her soft-worded lullabies and rocked her in her arms to sleep.
Her family was a true pure-blood legacy. After the First Wizarding War, the Littoreus family, by order of the Ministry of Magic, were chosen to protect the south-eastern seashore of Scotland – primarily to defend it from dark wizards or ill-intentioned Muggles, should any approach. This meant the family always had to be prepared for battle, but also to care for the animals inhabiting the waters and to monitor natural phenomena that, if not for the vigilant eye of the Littoreus, would have reached the United Kingdom’s Ministry of Magic months later.
It was, of course, an honorary role, but surprisingly not well known or recorded in the History of Magic books, perhaps because the people who did the job were neither grand nor spectacular. They were simple and resilient, not loud in their actions but consistent, and that was not exactly what magazines sought in their stories. So, even though the family receives reasonable payment and recognition from the Ministry of Magic, their type of career is not widely known and is more attributed to their family’s unique history.
The family owned a house on the shore of the North Sea, as well as a small island further out in the water, where a lighthouse stood. In autumn and winter, Mary’s father would often travel there to keep a closer watch over the waters, and sometimes visit during the warmer seasons. The girl grew up surrounded by many complex and enchanting things that even many wizarding children would not have known, as they did not live on a seashore or possess the responsibility to protect not only a part of the wizarding world, but also their legacy, and to bring greatness to it. Even before she began attending Hogwarts, she was already highly knowledgeable in tending the lighthouse light. She was allowed to accompany her father during the warm seasons for a few days, trimming wicks and replenishing fuel in the old lighthouse systems. Over time, she learned to operate fog signals, perform basic maintenance on the tools and the site, and even participated in a few search and rescue missions.
Receiving her acceptance letter to Hogwarts was no surprise to her, as she had been expecting it for a long time. Still, she was overjoyed and anxiously awaited the adventures that awaited her in the mysterious shadows of the castle. As the oldest of the Littoreus siblings, with no older brothers or sisters to familiarize her with Hogwarts, she faced these new experiences on her own.
FIOM : It all happened on her eighth birthday, as she and her siblings hid behind a large dune, watching a grey seal that believed it was hidden away on this secluded, abandoned-looking beach, out of sight, as it gave birth to its pups. The scene, as every year since their mother had shown them this miraculous hiding spot to watch the grey seals, mesmerised them, and they all watched in silence. Suddenly, the Littoreus family dog, which had apparently followed the children to the hiding place by scent, came up barking from behind them in the secluded area. Its barks angered Mary so much that she was about to cry at the brief thought that crossed her mind: that the grey seal mother might be frightened and never return to their shore to give birth. She quietened the dog as best she could, though her brows remained furrowed and she was barely holding back tears. To her surprise, when she turned back to the seal, it was still lying where it had been, calm and undisturbed. It seemed as if a shield that preserved the sound the family dog had made appeared overhead, preventing the seal from hearing any of the noise, allowing it to believe it was still safe and sound. That evening, when she told her parents about the incident, they, suspecting something, sent a letter to a seer who lived nearby. The seer confirmed it was Mary’s first instance of magic, and the family celebrated not only her birthday but also the confirmation of her magical powers.

LITTOREUS FAMILY : The Littoreus family was always highly respected, given their upbringing and dedication to the safety of British Wizarding Societies by protecting the seas and their inhabitants. However, they were never particularly sociable. They could be glimpsed on special occasions and at some international Wizarding World's fishermen’s meetings, but as a bunch, they were never the most outgoing individuals.
The Littoreus legacy dates back centuries, with documents and heirlooms originating from a time long before history books even existed. Needless to say, they keep all their treasures securely hidden in places unknown even to some family members considered to be on the outer circle. Over time, there have been many attempts to uncover the mysterious yet illustrious family’s secrets, but it seems they were all too skilled at keeping things concealed.
Despite diligently maintaining their pure-blood legacy, the Littoreus family was never spiteful towards Muggles. In fact, they found a kind of refuge among unsuspecting non-magical people, who had no knowledge of the Littoreus identity or history. This allowed family members, for once, to be seen as a blank slate and judged purely on their personality. Hence, the family can often be seen attending Muggle gatherings in the nearby predominantly Muggle-inhabited towns. During their early years of gatherings, the family was considered odd and out of the ordinary, but as time went on, the muggles became accustomed to their uniqueness, as the surrounding towns were inhabited by all kinds of people, and some peculiarities in the Littoreuses only made them more interesting to the residents. This fact has certainly earned them some scoldings from the Ministry of Magic, as they are entrusted with much important information about the quiet affairs of the Wizarding World’s waters. However, the family members have proven their loyalty, and it is no secret that they are discreet in concealing all their secrets masterfully.
ALICIA LITTOREUS-SUTUGINA 41-years-old mother Reducio Alicia Littoreus was born and raised in Britain, though many of her roots were based in Northern European countries, especially Lithuania and Belarus. After graduating from Hogwarts, she studied to become a magizoologist. Upon completing her studies, she travelled extensively throughout Europe and Asia, exploring their natural environments and wildlife. She was particularly interested in Lithuania – a Baltic country – whose animal diversity remained largely undiscovered in the Wizarding World. She spent a significant amount of time there, studying its fauna and eventually writing a book about them, along with several other works. After ten years, Alicia and her family had a major conflict regarding her life choices; her family accused her of wasting her life and insisted she settle down and continue their legacy by having children, as she was an only child. At 29, her parents introduced her to a man named Matthew Littoreus. They soon decided to marry, and after Matthew’s father passed away, they moved to Scotland to continue their lives there. |
MATTHEW JR LITTOREUS 46-years-old father Reducio Matthew Littoreus was born on the Littoreus grounds and spent his childhood studying the art of the waters. He was a quiet and reserved boy, certainly not someone expected to take on the Littoreus legacy after his parents – at least not until a tragic accident occurred during his second year at Hogwarts: his older brother passed away, and Matthew was met with the expectation of becoming the next inheritor of the land on the shore, along with the hard work required of the lighthouse keeper’s family and position. From then on, Matthew never had great ambitions; he knew his path was set before him and he had no choice but to follow it. He did not continue his studies after Hogwarts, learning only from his father, who was an overbearing figure and believed their way was the only right one. His and Alicia’s families brought them together, and after less than a year the couple married. |
MATTHEW LITTOREUS 68-years-old paternal grandfather Reducio Matthew Littoreus was born in Scotland on his father’s land and, from early childhood, was expected to inherit the Littoreus legacy and treasures. He attended Hogwarts and was regarded by his former classmates as “straight-up, a little harsh, but certainly determined.” He graduated as valedictorian and studied under his father on their family’s beach and waters. Ambitious and outspoken, he was known for addressing issues important to the sailor and sea community of the Wizarding World and is remembered for the good he did for the community. Family members might not have described him as kind or heroic at home, but that side of him was concealed from the public, and after his death, his name remains that of a hero. |
CAROLINE LITTOREUS 65-years-old paternal grandmother Reducio Caroline was the rebel of her family; she left home at a young age and cut all contact with them, discreetly informing them that she would marry a Muggle to further dishonour their legacy. After being admitted to a mental hospital, she was described as having delusions and paranoia, and after some time there, she was discharged. Upon her return to her parents, and due to unspecified difficulties, she had to live with them for a while. Her parents considered her “too sensitive” for the world and decided it would be best to send her away to a more isolated life. At only 19 years old, she was introduced to Matthew Littoreus, and they were soon married, with Caroline pregnant with a son. She later had more children with Matthew, but, in contrast to her husband’s public life, she was never an outspoken figure and remained withdrawn, reportedly spending much of her time in the lighthouse out at sea. |
ANTON SUTUGIN 65-years-old maternal grandfather Reducio Anton Sutugin was born in Belarus, where his family had fled to avoid the turmoil of the Soviet Union. Although they were not completely removed from danger, they managed to find a better life there. He attended Koldovstoretz, but due to the tense political situation in the region, he missed much of his schooling, as his family, concerned for his safety, kept him at home, where he was taught by a tutor. As a young adult, he often travelled to Lithuania for work, where he met Irene, fell in love, and married her. Little is recorded about either of their families in public documents, as both were very private and reserved. The details of the couple’s life between their marriage and the birth of their only daughter, Alicia, remain unknown to the public and are referred to in the family records as “The Honeymoon”, which, despite the name, lasted for more than ten years. |
IRENE SUTUGINA 66-years-old maternal grandmother Reducio Irene was born in Lithuania to a pure-blood Russian family who had moved to the Baltic country in search of a better life. She lived in Klaipėda, by the Baltic Sea, and Mary was always able to bond with her over their shared love of the sea and its animals. Irene’s family were known to be distant descendants of Veelas, though as the genes had been present in their lineage so long ago, they were extremely recessive and rarely manifested in any newborn child. Nevertheless, Irene was renowned for her beauty, and, along with her family’s prominence, she secured many modelling jobs. She remembers her early adulthood as a time filled with parties and unfulfilling jobs that paid large sums of money. Around that time, she met Anton, and the two of them went on hiatus for over ten years, without the knowledge of those around them. Upon returning to the public eye, they had their first and only daughter, Alicia, and formed strong ties with the Littoreus family when their daughter and the other family’s son became engaged. |
WILL LITTOREUS 9-years-old younger brother Reducio Second oldest son of the Littoreus family. |
CHARLOTTE LITTOREUS 7-years-old younger sister Reducio Middle daughter of the Littoreus family. |
VIOLET "VI" LITTOREUS 4-years-old younger sister Reducio Second youngest daughter of the Littoreus family. |
DOMINIC LITTOREUS 2-years-old younger brother Reducio Youngest son of the Littoreus family. |

FIRST IMPRESSION : Upon first meeting her, Mary can seem quite loud and extroverted. She is always doing something, chattering, and simply cannot stay in one place for more than five minutes. To most, she can be described as “too much”, because if her conversational partner does not respond or talk back, she immediately takes it as a sign to keep talking. However, with people who do answer and match her energy, the both can become an unstoppable force.
REPUTATION : She does not get attached, but she certainly remembers, and even if your character and she have only briefly exchanged a few words, she would still be up for an adventure if she is bored. Around the castle, she is known as someone you can always go to if you are looking for some fun. She always has a positive affirmation on the tip of her tongue, ready to share if anybody seems down, and some encouraging words for those who are too tired to keep going. Despite how she might appear on the surface, those who get to know her better understand that her energeticness is simply friendliness, amplified.
