A bright smile crossed Devon’s lips as she skipped into the appointed classroom. Her sandals gently tapped against the ground with her graceful movements. She wasn’t particularly competitive, but she liked hearing about the International Magical Olympic Games. To be fair, she was pretty excited, no matter what it was, when it had something to do with magic. While she was a No-Maj born, she was excited to learn all that she could about magic! And yes, that also meant traveling to these different countries and experiencing some excellent culture! Her family didn’t have a lot of money to spend on luxuries like vacations, so school-sponsored trips like this were always welcomed!
Devon liked the idea of making a poster. Even though she wasn’t artistic, that wouldn’t mean that she would be completely helpless. Of course not. With a giggle, she took a blank poster, a few paints, glitter (that totally didn’t get in her hair by accident on purpose), a quill, and a few inks. With a happy grin, she ventured to a corner of the room, sat on the ground, and laid out her supplies.
Slowly but surely, Devon worked with the paint. In carefully small strokes, she drew the Olympic rings. Each was in a different color, like she had seen on a No-Maj television. Her favorite sport in the No-Maj version was soccer matches, of course, although that was only played in the summer. Nevertheless, she enjoyed staying up-to-date even in the winter games.
Closing an eye, she took the quill in her hand and dipped it in an inkwell filled with cranberry-colored ink. Carefully, carefully. So carefully … she even gripped the quill with both hands to steady her writing … she wrote out a slogan in fancy script. ‘Onward to victory, Ilvermorny!’ She covered her writing in glitter. She slowly cleaned it off, so her writing could still be read, while shining in bright glitter … just like her blonde locks.
Tilting her head to the side, Devon picked up the quill again. Another dunk in the cranberry ink, and she considered what else to add. A giggle crossed her lips as she made up her mind. She drew some firework explosions with the ink all over the poster. More glitter adorned her strokes. To finish off her poster, she drew a giant heart. Then, taking multiple paints, she colored the heart in rainbow colors, using small rectangles for each color.
Devon carefully nursed her poster as she rose from her seat. She quickly collected the array of supplies she had (except for the glitter … as evidenced by the glitter in her pigtails), and returned them to their original table. Her green eyes glowed as she approached the snack bar. She took a small helping of chicken wings, s’mores, and hot chocolate, and returned to her corner to enjoy the food.
