The Devil Serpent
Homestead Members: @Verity Engels, @Rosaline Everhart, @Leo Noxley, @Lucille Rosenhart, @Frederick Buckley, @Milica Vranekova, and @Cecilia MerrickSprawling across the great mountains that towered over Tenūsa lay the most magical structures the isle had to offer. They were not just mere feats against gravity and physics but symbolic of the ever growing understanding of the island folk. They knew that tradition was important, and they would never forget, but acknowledging and respecting the past does not require binding yourself to it. No the Isle and its inhabitants were always looking to grow, to thrive. So while many of the older structures still sprawled across the jungle floor, these marvels carved into rock and crossed the expanses of the sky while never taking away from the natural beauty of the place.
One would think up so high that roots could not reach, that the rot that was beginning to engulf the jungle floor would be a distant problem. Such beliefs would be quickly realised as foolish. Everything in this island was connected. Being made out of magic itself many believed the island to be alive in a sense, and as such each and every part of it was one and the same. Much like a body, the infection could spread no matter the initial cut. This disease that was claiming the ancient haven seemed to be intelligent enough to use that magic, to guide it to where it wished to be. To guide it to the creatures it wished to take, and as such from the draping vines and tunnelled pockets their inky ichor appeared ready to strike.
While others were still drifting in the endless void of tranquil sleep this group had been prepared to seize the day. After all there was so much to see and for the most of them this was further than they had ever been. Magic could make so many things possible, but unfortunately that didn't always mean good things. Roll: 13 Such adventurers spirits would give them the benefit of time, as a few or all of the members of the homestead had managed to rise while the vines entered and managed to warn the others of the impending danger. Everywhere they looked the stuff was taking up the room and when it had decided it had consumed enough, tendrils of vines began to grow up and start periscoping like violent snakes on the attack.Moderation Note: None of you are currently restrained as you managed to escape but your room has been taken over by the entity and there are multiple vines that seem to be preparing to attack.

The Devil Serpent
Vera wished she could say her first morning in Tenūsa was nothing short of wonderful, a dream come to life, and all those other sayings that meant it was possibly the best thing that had ever happened to her.
She had never been to this part of the world, let alone had known a magical school existed in these parts. She had heard the name of the school when they visited Hogwarts at the Fall Ball, of course, but that didn't compare to seeing it in person. Tenūsa had tall trees, lush vegetation, the sun-dappled leaves and stones. The place simply looked like something out of an adventure novel, like Indiana Jones or Jumanji (if those were even the right series). While it was miles away from the modern comfort Vera grew up in, it was a breath of fresh air (quite literally) from the stone walls and grey pavements of Hogwarts.
Only, it would be amazing had they not woken up to vines taking over their accommodation.
There was very little time to prepare—or really, none at all—as the vines had taken over just about everything in sight. The only thing Vera could do was reach for her wand on the nightstand and yell, "Everyone, wake up!"
Without thinking too much of it, she aimed her wand.

FINAL MODERATION OF PART ONEOf the seven residents of this high house, six stayed sleeping soundly: @Rosaline Everhart, @Leo Noxley, @Lucille Rosenhart, @Frederick Buckley, @Milica Vranekova, and @Cecilia Merrick. The only one to leap to action was @Verity Engels, whose well-placed Flipendo seemed to scare back a heaping section of the malicious plants.
Standing in for Lawrence in this moderation round to end part 1 of the event!
Luckily, all seven were free to leave as they wished, because as if scared of Verity, the vines shrunk back into nothingness and vanished seemingly into thin air. Perhaps the group could proceed to part two and meet up with the other residents of the High Houses...
