Sprawling across the great mountains that towered over Tenūsa lay the most magical structures the isle had to offer. They were not just mere feats against gravity and physics but symbolic of the ever growing understanding of the island folk. They knew that tradition was important, and they would never forget, but acknowledging and respecting the past does not require binding yourself to it. No the Isle and its inhabitants were always looking to grow, to thrive. So while many of the older structures still sprawled across the jungle floor, these marvels carved into rock and crossed the expanses of the sky while never taking away from the natural beauty of the place.

One would think up so high that roots could not reach, that the rot that was beginning to engulf the jungle floor would be a distant problem. Such beliefs would be quickly realised as foolish. Everything in this island was connected. Being made out of magic itself many believed the island to be alive in a sense, and as such each and every part of it was one and the same. Much like a body, the infection could spread no matter the initial cut. This disease that was claiming the ancient haven seemed to be intelligent enough to use that magic, to guide it to where it wished to be. To guide it to the creatures it wished to take, and as such from the draping vines and tunnelled pockets their inky ichor appeared ready to strike.

This place was nothing like the dark forest that loomed ominously on the edge of Hogwarts. It was a symphony of beauty and wonder and it begged to be explored and seen. Under the cover of darkness it only grew more beautiful with lanterns lighting the buildings far below and the stars illuminating them from above it was enchanting. Such wonders brought a pair of restless souls wandering towards their majestic balcony. As they watched the stars that glimmered across the sky they would be completely unaware of the danger that lay beneath. Roll: 3 That was when two vined tendrils wrapped around each of their arms dragging them over the edge. Hitching feet and clawing with hands to the edge they barely managed to hold on, but would the others wake in time to save them, and what lurked under the shadows of their own beds.
Moderation Note: Minnie and Bree are fully restrained on the balcony and are clinging to stay on but being forcefully dragged. Something seems to be moving under every other individuals bed aching at their backs and disrupting their well earned sleep

Emiline normally slept quite well at home, but the combination of being in a new place and surrounded by people she didn't really know made her restless. Don't get me wrong, the beds were comfy just the mind kept her in light, troubled sleep.

The creaking of old wood in the breeze gave her a unfamiliar soundtrack that belittled her usual sleep sounds of complete and utter silence.

However, this night seemed to be alive with unease and dread which made Emiline jolt awake as she swears she felt something moving down her spine. Sitting up quickly, she tried to get her bearings. For a moment, she couldn't figure out why she couldn't see the outline of her wardrobe but then she realised that she was at Tenusa in one of the high houses.

Then she felt that uneasy presence again. Pulling out her wand from her pillow, she muttered quietly, "Lumos" and her wrist flicks made 2 sides of an isosceles triangle. The tip of her wand lights up with a white light, allowing her to see once she blinks away the sleep.

To her right, she hears scrabbling and her head snaps towards it. She saw two girls being hugged by the plants of the high house. "EVERYONE WAKE UP!!" She yells quickly, jumping out of bed, her wand held firmly. She rushes over to the girls who are clinging on for dear life.

"Hang on-"

Usually Minnie was a deep sleeper. It would take ages for her to be woken up by someone else, and she oftentimes slept in, which grew tiresome for her parents and siblings. But tonight something seemed to be bothering her. Perhaps it was just that she was at an unfamiliar location, or that she was bothered by her mother and aunt's recent fighting, or even it could have been something she ate that disagreed with her. In spite of all the possible answers for why she was up, Minnie didn't think it was any of those. She just felt...uneasy. Like there was a certain falsehood with the world.

That feeling of foreboding and strangeness was why she was up at night, and trying to fall back to sleep. Eventually she gave up on that idea and took to the balcony, hoping the magnificent view would sort out her feelings and make her feel more at peace. She looked around at the stars and took a few deep calming breaths. Slowly, she began to feel more calm, and soon just started to admire the wonderful view they had been gifted.

She was just about to go back inside when she heard a noise. It didn't sound like it was coming from their homestead, or like an animal from outside. It sounded more like a...slithering noise. She was just about to turn to Bree, who had also been on the balcony, and ask her if she had heard the noise too, when she felt something wrap around her arm. A vine had managed to creep up on her and wrap itself around her. Minnie started to panic, pulling out her wand just in time for a bunch of vines to make her trapped and start to get pulled away from the balcony.

"HELP!" She shouted. She squirmed with all her might, and barely managed to fling her hands out and grab onto the edge of the balcony. Her mind was racing for a way to get out of the situation at hand. What kind of a plant attacked people? It could be a devil's snare, but if it wasn't, the sunlight could potentially help it. But fire....fire would burn the plant, no matter what it was. Hopefully. She tightened her grip on her right hand, and readied her wand on her left. "Please work." She whispered, then cast her spell.

Permission from Hazel Nelson to Godmod her dragging Axel from her PC account
Axel didn't like this event. He was forced to come along by his friend no, his acquaintance, Hazel. And yes, that did involve lots of being dragged to and fro from place to place because this girl knew no boundaries. His feet ached, his wrist was slightly sore from being yanked this way and that. So when they showed them their 'homes' for the event, unlike normal he raced up the stairs to get a bed first.

And once he lay down, he was fast asleep, the day was draining to say the least, as he's not normally so social and.... euhh pleasant. Talking to people and doing activities is mind-numbingly annoying for him, Axel would much rather just sleep all day but no, he gets dragged out to this foreign school in the middle of a forest. Like who does that to a kid? He stirred slightly as his dreams tried to rouse him.

He rolled over to his back and covered his head with his pillow. Of course when he's desperate for sleep he gets woken up during the god forsaken early hours of the morning. Around him it was silent, well sleeping silent of people, but the sounds of nature were all loud and alive. Axel groans not caring if he wakes anyone up, even though its muffled by his pillow.

Then he hears some scrabbling and a girl yelling help. He ignores it he assumes its one of his housemates having a nightmare or a bad dream. Then through his pillow he hears another creak of a bed and a light creeps around the edges of the pillow. Axel puts his arm over the top, as if to block out the rest of the light.

Then he hears a slightly panicked sleepy voice demand everyone wakes up. Who the hell does this girl think she is, demanding we all wake up?! He thinks bitterly. I'm too tired for all this.... They can sort it out or drag me out of this surprisingly soft bed. He thinks selfishly.

From his bedside table, still with his eyes closed, he grabs his earplugs and puts them in, going back to bed. Not knowing the dangers that leer just beyond the shadows of his cabin.

A night owl would be a wonderful description for Bree if she enjoyed being up at night every day. But half of the time shes up at night because shes enjoys it. The other half? Well lets just say its a mix of issues, worries, and concerns. And on those nights, she wont fall asleep at all or if shes lucky gets at least an hour of rest.

However on this particular night, she felt like it was too pretty to waste. Making her way up to the balcony, she stares up at the stars. Trying to recall her lessons in astronomy about constellations, she ends up only making out one of them but not remembering the name of it. Cruising herself for not paying more attention in class and heavily relieving on notes she looks around. So far no one has come up here. She accepted the silence with gratitude. Leaning back on her hands she ends up lost in thought. As she stares up at the stress she remembers a moment. After some sort of fight. Closing her eyes she allows the memory to wash over her.
Tears are still streaming down the young girl's face as she stares at her parents. "Please Mother and Daddy please stop fighting." Her parents stare at her with shame and guilt on their face. Her father looks up at her mother than back down to her. Bending over, he picks her up and whispers in her ear softly, his beard scratching her softly, "Its alright sweetheart. Now come outside with me." After looking once again at her mother, he turns and takes Bree outside. Once they are outside, he puts her down and closes the door. Pointing to the ground the young girl recognizes what he's trying to say. Lying down in the grass excitedly she looks up at the stars. The beauty in the sky was still mind-blowing to her. The night looked as if someone hung diamonds in the sky. Once her father lays down next to her she snuggles against him. "Look" Her father says in a whisper. Looking up, the young girl squeals in delight as she sees a shooting star. Closing her eyes tightly, she makes a wish. Whispering in her ear once more her father says, "Now your wish will come true. Just don't tell anyone and keep it close to your heart."
Jumping at the sound of someone coming up, her eyes fly open. Reaching for her wand, she realizes she left it by her bed. As the person finally comes into view, she sees that its Minnie. Smiling at her softly, she turns her attention back to the sky. Out of the blue, a weird noise happens, ruining the peaceful silence. Out of the corner of her eye she sees Minnie turn to her. Turning around to see if anyone is behind them she suddenly hears Minnie screaming for help. Bree tries to turn to help her, but then something wraps around her, yanking her off the balcony. Managing to catch the edge, she lets out a high pitch scream for help. Using one hand to hold herself, she tries to unwrap the vines from her.

Action: Trying to wake Axel up for he could help
Date: xx/xx/xx
Groaning slightly, Hazel lifts her head from the pillow. Normally, shes a deep sleeper. Has been since she was a baby. Her father called it a blessing. She could sleep through a fire alarm (which she has but lets not get into that right now) and it is very rare for her to wake up in the middle of the night. But tonight something seems off. She didn't see anything insane before going to bed that would disturb her. Nor did any look look evil or like they're going to kill her to keep her up. (With the exception of Axel, he looked like he was going to rip her head off. But he's sleeping.)

Thinking this over, shes pulled out of her thoughts when she hears a girl screaming for them to get up, followed by screams for help. Sitting up, she gasps as she sees her cousin and another girl being dragged on the balcony. Gasping in surprise, she closes her eyes and counts to ten. Opening them she sees that it is real, not a dream.

Getting out of bed, "Hang on! Well get you down," she shouts to the two girls that are being dragged. Looking around she notices that everyone is still semi-sleeping. Except Axel. He looks like he's having the best night. Groaning in frustration, she goes to his bed and shakes him.

"Axel!! Wake up! Something's going on and we need your help!" After attempting to wake him up, she drags his blankets off of him and then pulls him up.

FINAL MODERATION OF PART ONE
Standing in for Lawrence in this moderation round to end part 1 of the event!
This group had a variety of things being done. Like all of us, @Axel Brooks just wanted to sleep, but unfortunately @Hazel Nelson had other plans and shook him awake. @Alemayehu Ngeni Bekele, @Lucien Alexandre de Montfort, and @Maria Leung de Almeida all stood, frozen perhaps in shock, as @Emiline Hunter fended off vines with Lumos. The two who were previously captured, @Bree Grey and @Minnie Duke, were both struggling against the vines that had grabbed them earlier, but whereas Minnie managed a successful spell against her vines with a well-placed Incendio Duo, Bree's fights were in vain and she was dragged into the darkness.

All seven of the remaining kiddos were free to leave as they wished, though, because as if satisfied with their kidnapped charge, the vines shrunk back into nothingness and vanished seemingly into thin air. Perhaps those still standing could proceed to part two and meet up with the other residents of the High Houses...
