Quinn shivered as she walked up the quidditch pitch, excited for the game. Last year she had considered switching sports but as she walked through the windy quidditch pitch she was glad she had chosen to stay. Quinn gripped her broom by its handle and wondered why it was so cold. She was rather excited for her first match of the year though. Spotting her friend, Quinn rand to @Ophelia Northwell and hugged her.
"Hey teammate, whats up?" Quinn asked. Her best friend was the benched seeker and Quinn hoped-without wishing any harm-that Ophelia could play today.

It seemed like just yesterday Aly Salinger had strode unto this very field ready to start her sixth-year season, or her fifth-year one, or her fourth-year one, or her third-year one... and now here she was, at the beginning of her seventh year. First-string Seeker, and Captain, no less. Everything she had ever wanted here in the Quidditch world, finally within her grasp - well, except a seventh-year decisive victory of the Quidditch Cup. At least not yet.

She kept an eye out for her fellow seventh-years during this match: Percival and Jorah. It felt odd for the three of them to be the cream of the crop now, the eldest of the bunch, leaders and seekers and beaters... and yet, it felt oddly right somehow. She'd wave to Jorah once he arrived, and give Percival the stink-eye if he looked her way.

Another person Aly waved to was Aston once he got there: her much younger, but no less talented, co-captain. Though he was benched, he had a great mind for strategy and Aly would definitely look to him for ideas throughout the match.

She mounted her Oakshaft with an excited, and yet melancholy, sigh as she took to the skies for the last first time in her Hogwarts career.

It was the start of another Quidditch season at Hogwarts. It was Ophelia's third year as a student and a member of the team, though her in-game experience was still quite limited. That was fine with her, though, because that meant she could fully immerse herself in being a spectator in the game. Calculating scores, keeping an eye out on key players, and working herself up over the smallest missteps and problems. She'd never been a sports person before, but joining the Quidditch team had made her partial to this wizarding game.

@Quinn Brook, one of her best friends at Hogwarts and a fellow member of the team, came up to her as she entered the field, broom in hand. Quinn was a first-string player, so she'd be up in the game first. Ophelia only hoped nothing happened to her every time they played. She'd seen those bludgers-- they did some awful damage.

"Hey, Quinn." Ophelia hugged her back. "Good luck out there." She then made her way over to the bench, ready to watch.

Aamon seemed indifferent to the game that was about to begin. Last year, sitting on this same bench as an expert bench warmer, he was filled with anxiety. A sense of impending failure, dread of encroaching embarrassment and the near-certainty that he would have a tour of the infirmary by the day's end. His family was best known for their wealth and their genetic legacy that left little room for diversion, with a singular notable exception: this family loved Quidditch like a rat woman liked pie.

Maybe he was the odd one, he was more interested in the crowd than in the actual game. He turned his back and looked to the crowd.

Air in the Quidditch pitch had been charged, stinging, cold, and tense with anxiety. The type of wind that pulled on the scarf at the neck and pounded your heart in your chest. Mikey lingered momentarily just beyond the doorways of the locker rooms, holding on to his Nimbus 1700 so tightly that his knuckles turned white. His very first real game. He'd fantasized about this day for weeks, the sound of the crowd, the colors blurring together across the stands, the scent of wet grass and adrenaline. And here he was now, observing the teams massing beneath the iron-gray sky, and it was all so much bigger than he'd ever dreamed.

Mikey sat down beside Damien, who was already vibrating with excitement. He released a nervous laugh and rubbed his hands together to warm them up. Sitting in his position, he could watch their captain, Aly, flying into the air with ease, the embodiment of confidence. Quinn and Winnie were stretching on the ground next to them, already focused, already hyped. Mikey couldn't resist, it was hard not to feel proud, even from the side. He leaned the broom across his knees and could feel the smooth wood vibrate lightly against his fingers. This is it, he thought.

Karina made her way to the field. The summer air had been fading and pretty soon, there'd be snow on the grass; gray clouds were building up in the sky. Karina held her broom on her left shoulder and felt a rush of excitement rush through her bones but it ended almost instantly. This was her very first match. First match of the year, the season, and even of her life. Slytherin must win. It'd make Kari and the team feel so motivated. The team had been practicing so hard. This past month and a half of practice had gone by so fast. She still remembers attending her first game and just watching from the bleachers only a few months ago. Just hours ago, she remembered coming onto the pitch to practice by herself, going through tricky broom strategies that her father had taught her and now, all changed into her uniform, the time to play had really come.

Tightly grasping her Nimbus 1001 broom, she felt her foot touch the first step of the grassy field. Determination was written all over her face, silence saying so much without saying anything. Deep, deep down, she felt a little worried but chose that looking ahead is better than worrying about the possibilities that could occur. Just a little doubtful, she brought her focus away from all of the negatives and decided to focus on the positives. Karina had been working hard and practiced a lot. The worst thing that could happen is probably just falling off her broom, causing chaos on the pitch as she went flying miles and miles down to the ground, where she injures herself, costing Slytherin the game where she'll be too embarrassed to show her face to Hogwarts so she'll go back home and end up attending a muggle school..... right?

Great Merlin it was windy. Avis cringed against the brisk breeze as she pushed off from the ground, soaring into the sky on her new borrowed Silver Arrow, quite the step up from her brother's old Comet 180 and even the Moontrimmer she'd borrowed over the summer. This particular broom moved with fluid ease and it was breathtaking to fly.

Avis zipped around the pitch, tightening her flight goggles and gloves against the sting of the wind as she took a quick warmup lap. Out of the corner of her eye, a flash of blue denim appeared in the Ravenclaw section of the stands and the girl turned to look, a grin breaking onto her face as she realized it was the brilliant handiwork of her best friend, Maisie...and guest? Avis squinted to see a boy in Slytherin garb holding the other end of the sign. Confused for a moment, the Ravenclaw shook it off and gave them both a massive wave, the smile stretching wide across her rosy cheeks. A supporter was a supporter and Avis was immeasurably grateful for both of them, considering the nerves that had begun to fill her stomach with butterflies.

After all this was her first official match as a starter and no matter how good she thought she was with a Quaffle, Avis' needed solid results to be able to back up that knowledge.

And that wasn't the only thing. A certain Slytherin beater on the other team was causing her immense anxiety, despite the strange sort of camaraderie that had formed between them over the summer match against Mahou. It was that, in fact, that made her nervous, having seen what exactly @Percival Rainwood could do first hand to which she was not looking forward to facing as an opposing player.

Either way, it would be an exciting first match and as Avis began to feel her limbs warm back up with exertion, a grin of anticipation broke onto her face once more.
