♥♥♥ Xiomara was always seen with her wizard camera, snapping photos on every occasion. Some of these ended up in the Headliner. She literally had not parted with her camera for long since the day she acquired it, so it was absolutely no shock that she was here, with a photobooth ready to go. Honestly, her hardest period was when her mum said she couldn't use her regular DSLR camera in Hogwarts and would need a new one - she had to go for months without one as her mother said they couldn't afford it. It was the best gift she had gotten though.

The camera was set up on a stand, so she did not have to hold it. To the side, there was a table and some freestanding easels around with some pre-printed photographs as examples. Some of them included photos from previous balls or sport events but there were also ones without people - some nature shots from her hikes in Northern Ireland or just from the Great Lake/around the Castle. People could purchase a pre-printed photograph if they wanted or pose for a new one today. The photos that were taken today would be delivered down the line, as they had to be manually developed.

The camera faced the fair. Xiomara planned to take photos there, focusing on the people and leaving the fair in the background. However, a giant plain backdrop was available to the left - held up by a metal backdrop rack, all she had to do was turn the stand a bit. This allowed visitors to opt for a plain background if they wanted. Next to the table, there was a giant box of props that could be used - various hats, a few fake mustaches, some signs that said cute or funny things, those ridiculously huge glasses and so on. There was also a small clothing rack with some outfits that people could throw on top of their clothes - such as a Pikachu onesie, some scarves or giant poncho. People could grab whatever they wanted and strike their favourite poses.

"Get your limited edition fair photos here!" Xiomara would shout as she waved people over. Using every ounce of concentration, she focused on changing her appearance to try and attract more people. Her hair turned to a bright pink before becoming very lime green. If she made eye contact with someone, she would try and change her nose to a different shape - have it grow in size or become a funny shape - to try and entice them to come over!

She was donning a plain gray tank top, some blue demin shorts and a pair of black boots but she would also put on the large plastic glasses or wave a cowboy hat around - anything to catch people's eye and attention!
Key Points:
  • Xiomara is happy to be in the photos if you want her to make a silly pose (i.e. pig nose, holding up a sign etc), but must be requested. Otherwise will assume she is just behind the camera.
  • Candid photos available for Official Sports (Duellists would already have theirs taken, but Quidditch/Broom Racer would be RPed as "will be taken and supplied at a later date" if you agree).
  • Posed photos will have the choice of a plain backdrop or just the fair blurred behind them and props (think muggle photo booth props).

After leaving a second booth with a small garden in a teacup in her hand, Aly knew that she didn't have much free time left. She had been away from her own booth - a soaring adventure through the skies, complete with libations and prizes - for too long already, and staying away much longer would surely cause complaints. She hurried back in the direction of Butterflights, the paint drying on her face, barely giving most of the booths a second glance - after all, if she looked too hard at any more, she'd surely want to go to them all. And yet, despite her mental insistence on returning to her own tent, a third and final option caught her eye.

It was less the booth itself and more the person inside it - a familiar face, young and brunette, with a camera that Aly had never seen her without. She and Xiomara both were... not necessarily rarities at the Headliner, but certainly in a different league, as they were two of few reporters who owned their own cameras and used them to snap photographs for their articles. Though she had not spoken much to the young girl since her arrival to the Headliner at the beginning of the previous school year, she had always been friendly enough to her, as much as she was with all new acquisitions to the Hogwarts journalism team. (That would change this year, though neither of them knew it yet.) Xiomara seemed to have set up a booth about her photography, her camera mounted, but it was surprisingly empty of any guests; feeling a bit sorry for her as well as curious, Aly heaved a sigh and approached the booth. Last one, she promised herself, I swear it.

She greeted the soon-to-be-second-year with a smile. "Xiomara! Fancy seeing you here." Aly eyed the photographs that had been hung up as decoration, giving each one the time and respect it deserved - lots of nature shots, especially around the Black Lake, and some Hogwarts photos, naturally, locations which Aly recognised with ease after six (ish) years of attendance at the school. "Goodness, these are lovely. I'd recognise your work anywhere! We really ought to have you do a photograph spotlight of some of the castle's prettiest places one of these editions." She turned back to the other girl, gesturing to the box of props; Aly was a pureblood through and through, even having recently gone through her own debutante ball a month prior, so the concept of a "photobooth" would be entirely new to her once the younger girl explained. "What's all this, though? Did you strip several professors of their moustaches, or..."

𝓣he heat was actually beginning to grow unbearable. While she had a temporary reprieve from the burning sun inside the shade of the sky-blue canopy tent, home to ‘Face Painting’, now that she was out walking around again, Ruth was beginning to wish she hadn’t left the booth so briskly.

Ruth tortured herself just a little more by squinting up into the sky, one hand shielding her forest-green eyes from the blinding sunlight, the other propped against her hip as she searched for her Great White Owl amidst the chaos. Sol, she almost screamed, though she knew that it’d have been pointless, anyway. The sounds of chatter and music would have drowned her voice and carried it off for miles till it was inaudible. Even so, who knew if her owl would have cared to listen. She could hardly control Sol nowadays. Was there something wrong with her? Was it the way that Ruth had been treating him? She could only hope it wasn’t too rough–the trip to the London Quidditch Stadium wasn’t the breeziest, but their short-lived relationship seemed to be constantly deteriorating.

Great, dark spots were now dancing in her eyes from staring up for so long. Rubbing at them groggily, Ruth stopped, her gaze drifting down from the ever-expansive blue to a stall not so much of a distance away. To her surprise, the girl was standing in broad daylight, enthusiastically waving people over in the blistering heat. Wow. How much cotton candy did she have? Was an instinctive thought as Ruth walked closer. Complementing the boisterous behaviour was the cowboy hat she flailed around whilst donning a ridiculous pair of large glasses.

Ruth felt the tips of her lips perk up. She supposed it wouldn’t hurt to take a picture. Judging by the way the stall had been set, it was far more professional than what Ruth could achieve then. Besides, with her freshly decorated face, she couldn’t possibly pass up the opportunity to capture the moment. "Get your limited edition fair photos here!" She was exclaiming, and Ruth jumped at the sight of her cascading brown hair seeping into colours of hot pink and lime. Metamorphmagus. Well, that was one way to attract people to the stall. It certainly caught Ruth’s attention.

“Hello,” she offered a wave, hoping to attract the girl’s attention. “I would love to have a photo.” Ruth pointed at her face paint. “This isn’t something you’ll see on my face often, or ever, really.”

She was offered the opportunity to scrounge through the box of miscellaneous decorations, picking up a couple and having a chuckle, before deciding she’d just go without any. Just be in the moment. As she stood before the camera, fixing her cardigan, a fleeting shadow passed over her head, before the silhouette of an owl settled on her shadow’s shoulder. “Nice of you to finally show up,” Ruth uttered without as much as a glance upwards. Sol sniffed her collar as she playfully swatted his beak away, a sign that meant no treats for you, you abandoner.

The Great White seemed to sniff in displeasure before fixing his eyes on the camera before them, as if curious and miffed all the same. Ruth turned to the girl again. “Hope it’s alright to have him in the photo with me,” she said sheepishly. She fished through her pocket for a spare owl treat, holding it within her fist so that Sol would have no way of getting it. Ruth passed it on to her.“You can attempt to lure him to face the camera, and I emphasise ‘attempt’.”

Asara happily entered the photo tent. All dressed up with her double sided scrunchie, pom-pom like hair, colourful flower crown and her scenic face paint, she was feeling cute and just about ready to get a photo of her creations. She just needed one more thing to complete the picture.

New clothes!

Since today was for arts and crafts her Ma had put her in her brown play clothes to minimise the mess. They were dark and stained and completely out of place. No where near pretty enough for a special photo. And they were the perfect excuse to dress-up and play with the assortment of costumes on the rack!

Asara raced over to the dress-up section..... the clothes racks and fitting rooms she meant. Same difference. There were all sorts of clothes, onesie costumes, ponchos, hats, scarves, cloaks and more. The pikachu onesie was tempting, very tempting, but it wouldn't match at all. The ponchos and scarves would probably cover her clothes better.

She poked at the ponchos. There were pretty autumn colours and lovely greens. Some had patterns and some had pictures. Asara pulled out the smallest one. It had wide, light purple sleeves with mauve patterns along its edges. She pulled it over her head, taking care not to jostle her flower crown or rub off the face paint, and promptly drowned in the fabric. It was huge! She was a first year who'd only just made the cut, and small for her age besides. She could hardly see past the poncho's neck, nevermind getting it photo-ready!

Asara sighed and, with the help of a nearby older student who took pity on the poor sight she made, wrestled it off. Her hair puffed up, staticky, and looking almost as frazzled as she felt. There were the still scarves though! She wasn''t done yet!

There was a lot to choose from there. There were small looped scarves, chunky ones, silky ones, knitted ones, printed ones, long knotted ones, and some were almost as wide as the ponchos. Asara picked through them carefully. The small ones and silky ones weren't right, much too formal for her taste, and she loves the printed ones but they didn't match at all.

In the end she settled on a wide, woollen, knitted scarf that almost looked like it was felted. It had gradients of light camel brown and dark teals and cyans with sea green tassels along the edges. Asara got the other students' help with wrapping it around like a huge shawl or a ruana. She nicked a bushy, auburn moustache-on-a-stick from the prop box and they used it like a pin to keep the makeshift ruana in place.

After thanking the student, Asara made her way to the prop box to find something for the photo-shoot. The fan looked fun but seemed a bit silly overall. She already had a moustache in her scarf, so that was out. Then she found something perfect! A large sun with a huge whole in the middle. It was large enough to fit her whole head and chest in the ring! This was perfect!

Asara ran off to the photographer.

"I'd like a photo with this please! With the fair in the background! Thank you!"
