The Mistletoe Spin Group #2
Group 2
THE RULES:Reducio
- All PCs and iNPCs are welcome to join this event, but must have signed up and been assigned to a group. Please only post in a group to which you have been assigned.
- Each round will last the duration of 1 song and will be moderated once per week.
- At the end of each round (week), the song will end and students will find themselves paused with a new partner. Some pairs will find themselves paused under a floating sprig of mistletoe, and others will be spared from the embarrassment! If you and your partner find yourselves under the mistletoe, you're supposed to kiss... but whether you choose to is completely up to you.
- You may post as many times as you like per round to do unmoderated actions such as talking and dancing, but you only get ONE moderated action (kissing, hexing, punching, etc.) per round, so spend it wisely.
- Failure to post in a round will result in your character freezing and declining any actions that come their way (such as kisses). Failure to post in more than one round may result in your character being removed from the game.
- Note that all IC rules still apply, as do all site rules and ratings, so behave yourselves!
In addition to the variety of differently-decorated tents scattered across the magically snowy ground of the London Quidditch Stadium, those exiting their temporary residences on the evening of Friday, August 2nd would have been greeted with a lovely sight. Several small, rectangular dance floors were set up earlier that afternoon in various points around the stadium, and each was now decorated and gave off a golden glow. Those curious as to their use could approach to find that each dance floor was guarded by a post bearing a list of carefully calligraphed names. It seems that today's guest lists are regulated to ensure certain dancers end up on certain floors.
Each dance floor was set up to appear exactly the same, without any fear of getting a "better" location for the evening's mistletoe ball, this year's version of the ever-popular Twirl the Flagon game that has occurred at summer camps past each year. Only when one approached the area bearing their name could they move past the outside barrier and onto the dance floor.
The rectangular floor itself appeared reminiscent of a chessboard, with golden and brown diamonds emitting a soft, warm glow from below, as though each tile sat upon a miniature sun that was simply bursting to escape. Similarly, those who touched the floor would find that it was slightly warmed to stave off the surrounding snow, which also fell lightly from enchanted clouds above. The floor was also lined with flickering candles on the two longest sides - careful not to catch your fragile evening gowns or dress robes in their flames!
Nearby, an enchanted string quartet of instruments play a lovely, if somewhat fast-paced, waltz on their own without a single musician among them. Above the floor, if one were to glance skyward, their view of a wonderfully starry night sky would be partially blocked by floating objects. Upon closer inspection, about half of these seemingly randomly placed unidentified fliers would be found to be candles, while the other half would be small, greenish bundles each lit with an interior golden glow. The promised mistletoe for the mistletoe ball.
One final detail, beautifully enchanted by magic far beyond students' puny reaches, would await those who took even a single step onto the glowing dance floor. Was it a mild form of the Dancing Feet Spell, Tarantallegra? Or perhaps some other, unknown charm? Either way, those who wandered onto the dance floor would find themselves whisked into a fast-paced, whirling dance for which they somehow magically knew all of the steps. Each dancer will also change partners multiple times in a single song, so you may not even know who you end up dancing with, but they too will know the steps from the enchantment. Never fear if you've never danced before - you will dance today!
Just be careful - for when the music stops and so do your pounding feet, you may find yourself under a floating candle and be safe, or you may find yourself under one of the hovering bundles of mistletoe with a strange partner. Will you choose to follow the mandate of the mistletoe and kiss them, or will you choose to break the rule?
This event takes place, IC, on AUGUST 2.
Moderations will occur EVERY SATURDAY.
Mods will not occur at the same time each week, so make sure you post before Saturdays to ensure your post gets in!

Lemmy’s little legs scurried around the London Quidditch Pitch as he searched for the dance floor that bared his name. Little giggles could be heard as he bounced around looking for the right one. Who knew they would provide a bit of a hunt as well to tonight’s dancing festivities. Oh how the little part-Goblin loved to dance. He had such fond memories of some of the balls he had attended back home and even some abroad as well. There was just something about letting loose as the music guides your movements that made the boy feel free and energized! He had even dressed the part that evening as well.
His mother had packed one of his fine dress robes for just the occasion. It was quite the formal piece as Lemmy usually preferred a splash of color, but it did look suave for a night of dancing. The fine black material was embroidered with exquisite silver threads and he had even made sure the point on the black wizard hat was perfectly straight just the way Grandma had taught him. With a bit of hair product to tame his wild brown locks no one could say the little goblin looked anything but dapper.
Though Lemmy was constantly distracted by the decor on display, he did eventually find his allotted dance floor and oh what a sight to see! The floating candles cast the perfect light onto the beautiful dance floor. Not to mention the bit of warmth that was emanating from it. That and the way the snow flakes fell just right set the mood perfectly and he couldn’t wait to get started! With a bit of a skip he would plant his feet on the floor as he prepared to boogy! “Woah!!!” Lemmy shouted with glee as he lost control of his body. Well, not really a loss of control, but an irresistible urge to move in a certain way. The enchanted floor had plans of its own as his dance movements had him bouncing from one partner to the next. “This is wonderful! Isn’t this great! You look fantastic!” Lemmy shouted as he greeted each new person, but then he would dance right into the arms of another boy just before the music stopped.
A moment after his feet stopped stomping around, Lemmy’s eyes would look above them. “Oh look! We got the mistletoe!” He had no interest in kissing anyone really as that felt a bit icky and way too adult. However, he remembered that some cultures like to greet each other with a kiss or two to the cheek. That sounded perfectly acceptable. With a bit of a hop to make up the height difference, Lemmy LaRue would attempt to plant one right on this strangers cheek!

Aurélie was bouncing on her toes with excitement. Summer camp had already been going on for some time, and every activity that she had signed up for had ended up being tons of fun. The activity for today was especially interesting, a regency ball.
As with the rest of camp, the decorations were beautiful. Aurélie was so used to seeing snow and winter themes everywhere by now that she didn't look twice. As soon as she left to go home, she was sure that she'd be confused at the lack of such things.
Giddily, Aurélie entered the dance floor, almost immediately reminded of the spring ball at Hogwarts where she'd danced with a new friend, Emily. @Emily Shephard
Looking up, Aurélie's eyes widened as she spotted both floating mistletoe and candles. Ah, so this was the game? Try to not get kissed? Or was the point to get kissed? At this point, she couldn't really tell, though she would assume the former over the latter.
Grinning with a purpose as the music started, Aurélie danced. It was an odd sense as the dance floor seemed to magically move her limbs, instead of her moving them herself. She smiled at every partner she crossed, excited to see who she would end up with at the end.
Don't get her wrong, Aurélie loved to dance, but nothing compared to the exhilaration a game gave her. She was competitive, after all, sometimes to a fault.
Finaly, finally, when the music came to a pause, Aurélie found herself partnered with another girl about her age. Since almost no one wore their school uniforms to summer camp, she couldn't recognise where anyone was from, other than her fellow Beauxbatons students.
Looking up once more, Aurélie was pleased to see that she had succeeded this round in avoiding a mistletoe. She'd landed right under a candle.
"Bonjour!" Hello! Aurélie waved, still sort of grooving to the music stuck in her head. "Aren't we lucky? No kissing yet. I'm Aurélie, by the way. From Beauxbatons."

Metamorphmagus: Not Active ♥ ♥♥♥ ♥ Outfit: Long white 'nice' top, black leggings and black boots
♥♥♥ Apparently today was the day of the dance! Xiomara had absolutely no idea what people actually wore to dances. Her mama would definitely suggest a dress but she hated dresses, so she did not bother to bring one. Deciding that she probably ought to dress 'nice' for the occasion, she wore the fanciest long top she could find. It was sleeveless, white and looked somewhat 'nice'. Because of the length, it almost mimicked a short dress rather than a top. Pairing this with some black leggings and boots, she figured that was the best that she was going to get.
She also grabbed her denim jacket in case it was cold on the walk, with all of the snow. But she figured that she would just leave it on the side somewhere when the dancing began as she probably would get cold if she was dancing. But... if it was a formal dance with partners, would she even know anyone to dance with? Huh. Maybe she ought to have thought this through a bit more. In reality, she had just signed up to everything - likely for FOMO - and not put much thought into what they involved.
Making her way to the dance, her eyes instantly widened at the sight. It was stunning. There were lights everywhere, it was so beautiful. She noticed names by the dance floors and walked through the area, looking for hers. As she spotted it, she could not help but grin and entered onto the dance floor.
As she looked around, she noticed a familiar face. He was the shortest in the group! It was the boy that she had met in Diagon Alley last month! She had seen him around in camp a bit too but they had not really spoken since they had met in the joke shop!
What she did not expect was the immediate dancing that look place. She started to dance as the music hit her ears, quickly finding herself a partner. Huh, maybe this would be okay! It looked like she did not need to awkwardly try and find someone to dance with! "Oh! Hola Hello - what- Uh-" She started as she heard something about not kissing yet. What did that even mean? Why would they be kissing?! "Oh, I'm Xiomara. I uh start at Hogwarts this year," She explained after a moment, still trying to wrap her head around the comment. Following the gaze of her partner, she noticed that there was a candle above them.
She blinked. It slowly started to click. Mistletoe Spin was the name of the dance and as she looked around, she spotted what she would assume was mistletoe. But... it wasn't Christmas and that was a Christmas tradition right? This was just a cute name for the dance to go with the camp's theme, right? Did people kiss if they were under mistletoe outside of Christmas?! She had no idea. From Aurelie's words, it sounded like that might be the case, "Uhh, isn't that just a tradition at Christmas?" She figured she would ask.

English | Finnish | Russian | UkranianAnichka was very nervous. She wasn't even sure why she'd signed up for this stupid Mistletoe Spin thingy. She had to meet new people and it just wasn't something she was into. She did, however, like being physically active. She hadn't danced much but she liked the idea of it. She looked out over the dance floor and saw some candles and some mistletoe. Even though she came from a pureblood family, her family did celebrate Christmas and she was well aware of the purpose of the mistletoe. She prayed to almighty Atheismo that she wouldn't end up under the mistletoe. She had never kissed anyone before and would prefer the first time to be special.
Even though the camp wasn't cold by her Northern standards but, to fit in with the festive atmosphere, she was wearing a scarlet scarf and tuque, black pants, and a green jumper. She was trying to decide what dance to do once she was on the floor but, having never done it before, assumed she would just shuffle around awkwardly unless someone led and spared her the pain.
As soon as she stepped onto the floor things changed dramatically. She was content to dance on her own and at her own pace but she knew she was immediately under the influence of a spell. She was doing a fairly complicated dance that she'd never seen before and certainly never done before. She was dancing with various partners, none of whom she'd ever met before. As was into it, and was certainly active, but it was a bit hectic. On and on they danced until, suddenly, the music stopped.
She was standing under a candle across from a girl with pale skin and grey, almost white hair. She had no idea who this girl was but the first impression she formed was not a kind one. She just had a look about her that, to Anichka at least, carried an air of superiority that she didn't like. Still, first impressions could be misleading, and she should give the white-haired girl a chance. She wasn't sure what to do, probably not a hug, definitely not a kiss. She decided that the way she would be most comfortable was to simply introduce herself and see what happens. "Hello," she began with her strong Finnish accent, "My name... Anichka... are you Hogwarts?" She hoped what she said had been right, she only spoke English when she had to.[/color]"Interacting: @Aleksandra FairBairn

Group 2Wakey wakey! Where is everyone in this group? The dance floor seems vaguely uncrowded as the few people who are here shimmy around to the beat. Lemmy LaRue tries to kiss his partner's cheek, but the other guy seems frozen and as if he is refusing (did not post). Aurélie Nathalie Duval and Xiomara Torres seem content to chat as they dance, as do Anichka Volosin and Aleksandra FairBairn. But that's about it... where's the drama??MODERATION POST
The music starts back up again, and the spell whisks everyone away to find a new partner... and by the time the violins fade out once more, each skilled dancer is paired with someone very new, in a situation that is either also new or vaguely familiar...

Aurélie was confused by the girl— Xiomara, as she introduced herself— being confused. Did she not see the mistletoe sprigs floating? Did she not know what that meant?
Aurélie wouldn't say she knew everything about Christmas traditions, but she'd seen enough people kissing under mistletoe in the parties that her grandparents had taken her to for her to understand what it meant. But it seemed that Xiomara needed a moment to understand, but as soon as she looked up, her gaze meeting the sprigs of mistletoe, Aurélie could tell that she'd figured it out.
Xiomara asked, rather nervously, if you asked Aurélie, whether the tradition was only a Christmas thing. The French girl shrugged. She didn't know much about the traditions. "I think its supposed to be like Spin the Bottle. A kissing game."
She'd never actually played Spin the Bottle, but the kissing game had a certain fame to it. Everyone knew about it, and how to play. Aurélie smiled, patiently waiting for the other girl's reply, but the music seemed to start right then, and she was whisked from her partner by her enchanted limbs.
The French girl found herself enjoying the rhythm and movement of the dance, figuring out that once she understood the steps of the magical dance, it didn't feel like jerky movements. Aurélie bounced along to the tune of the song, eventually ending up next to a new partner. She didn't know anyone in her group, well, except for Xiomara, who'd just introduced herself. It was thrilling, to get to meet so many new people and play a game too, but it was also scary to think about. What if she landed under a mistletoe?
That is what you signed up for, Aurélie. Just let go, it'll be fun. And so she did. Gazing at her new partner, this time a boy, she grinned, radiating positive energy.
"Hello! I'm Aurélie, from Beauxbatons. Wonderful to meet you!" With confidence, she glanced up, hoping— no, knowing— that she'd see only a candle there. And she was right! Except... the candle was dripping hot wax?
Oh! Pulling out her wand, which had been neatly stashed in her dress pocket, she pointed it at the candle. Being a duellist, Aurélie had enough thinking on her feet skills to come up with a spell to cast pretty quickly. "Pluvia velo."

Lemmy was having an excellent time! Though some of the others were sporting sour expressions, his was beaming with a smile and fits of laughter could be heard trailing behind him as he was whisked around the dance floor. This was one of the first times he had ever been under the effect of a spell like this. His Grandmother was a decent healer, so she had fixed many a scrapped knee in his lifetime, but that was nothing compared to losing control of one’s body! It felt weird at first, but eventually the lad just gave into it an allowed his body to spin around the floor!
As he stopped suddenly he was in the arms of a taller boy with a mistletoe high overhead. Well, when in Rome do as the Romans or whatever. Yet the other kid had zero interest whatsoever. Not even Lemmy’s famously infectious smile was enough to get a reaction! Oh well! Lemmy had tried to kiss the cheek of this boy, but his little legs had a hard time making up the height difference as he gave a little hop. So, the air was graced with his kiss instead!
“Woahhhh!!!” Lemmy shouted with glee as his body pulled him away again as he spun round and round. Much to his delight the lad would bounce from one partner to the other. Fortunately he didn’t get motion sick or this could have gone horribly wrong. Eventually he would just close his eyes and let the music soak in as the dance continued, but soon enough the song would conclude and Lemmy opened his eyes to see that he was yet again under a mistletoe! He blinked hard and smiled up at his new partner, but then laughed nervously. This time he was with a girl and it made his stomach feel funny.
“Um, hello! I’m Lemmy!” He found his confidence after a hard swallow. “You look lovely this evening. May I ask where you’re from? I’m from Wales and will be going to Hogwarts in September I’ll have you know. This dance is quite interesting I must say. I’ve never been spelled before!” Hmm, that wasn’t quite the proper grammar was it? Grandmother wouldn’t be pleased, but just like Grandpa Larluff liked to say, what she doesn’t know can’t hurt her. Lemmy giggled to himself at the thought before another hard blink brought him back to the present. “Oh, um…looks like we’ve got the mistletoe.” His voice was slightly shaky at the thought of it, but with quick thinking he came up with a good solution. “It’s a pleasure to meet you.” If the girl allowed he would take her hand and with a slight bow he would lower his head and gently kiss the back of her hand. He’d seen it done before. Surely it was a classy move!

English | Finnish | Russian | UkranianAnichka was encouraged by how nice the girl was being to her. She didn't seem too over the top and only slightly more keen to be here than Anichka herself. She felt that her initial appraisal may have been unkind based on what was happening now. Green was Anichka's favorite color thanks to running through the forest all the time and she really liked her dress. It suddenly just dawned on her that she should maybe try saying that. "Your dress... I like... green is my fa - fav - favorite," she went very red as she failed to pronounced the last word. She then noticed that the girl named Aleks was offering her hand. She smiled and took it, shaking it gently.
"Sorry..." She began after she regained her composure, "I understand English but..." she was clearly trying to come up with another word, "not the best at speaking it." She decided to power through rather than dwell on her struggles, "Nice to meet you Aleks... I am originally from Ukraine but I in Finland now." She almost forgot to answer her question, "I go Durmstrang," and that was the last thing she said to the girl named Aleks as the music had started again and they were dancing faster and faster. She was very fit and this was even strenuous for her. Still, she was having a great time.
Round and round they went. As the tempo increased she just knew that they were building up to a spot. Who would it be this time? She would've guessed but such was the pace of the dancing that everything was a blur. And then - record scratch - they stopped again! Anichka looked up and gulped. She was standing under the mistletoe with... a very charming looking boy who, like her, was clearly having a wonderful time. He was very excited and, as well as she understood English, he was speaking very fast and she could barely keep up. He finally stopped to take a breath and Anichka tentatively started.
"Hello... La--Laaam--sorry, Lemmy." She blushed furiously at making another mistake. "I... sorry... English is... fourth language." She screwed her face up in concentration before finally speaking in a complete sentence. "I am... Anichka... I am from Ukraine but my family moved to Finland. I go Durmstrang." She was very charmed by him and had absolutely no idea why but she added, "You look cute in that outfit."
And then things took an interesting turn as Lemmy also realized they were under the mistletoe and reached down to kiss her hand. She allowed it and smiled shyly. The spot where he kissed her felt warm and she felt a sudden compulsion which she acted on by standing on her tiptoes to kiss him on the cheek.Action: Trying to kiss Lemmy on the cheek.Interacting: @Aleksandra FairBairn, @Lemmy LaRue
