Small note: please don't steal any of the art here, that would really not be a cool move. BUT! You may take the codes for the different schools if you'd like to use 'em for an iNPC. Just keep the credit in there please and thank you. Otherwise, no taking my art. This includes whatever loophole you may be coming up with, and definitely using it for AI training. Thanks! :D

Skeletons in your closet
Art form: writing
Mahlioz was an open book. A very readable person, and they knew it. If they were scared, you'd know. Nervous, excited, relieved, annoyed - you'd know. She could often tell other's emotions (not that that helped with doing anything about them), but it seemed that came at the cost of her own emotions' privacy.

Most of the time, she didn't mind too much. They had nothing to hide. They surrounded themselves with people they loved and trusted, and they weren't scared of showing them how they felt. Even with people she didn't know too well, she didn't really have things to keep from them. Except...

Except now there was this. Now life had decided to get complicated, all of a sudden, out of nowhere. It hadn't been like this before. Before Hogwarts, everything had been more simple. She wasn't sure whether it was the giant jump into the wizarding world that had been the last year and a half, or whether it was becoming a teenager, or something else. But something had changed them.

They had more feelings. They had more thoughts and worries and secrets. That was new. She didn't even know why they were secrets at all. Sometimes she didn't know what they even were in the first place. But they felt private. She wanted them to be hers, and hers only. Did that make sense? Were they being selfish?

Like the whole gender thing. They had no idea where they were going, and they knew having someone with experience explain things to them would help immensely. But... it was her problem. She didn't want to tell people about it. It was hers.
And... and home. How they felt about moving. The whole France thing. She barely knew what she felt about it in the first place. Talking to someone about it would help. But did they want help? Did they want to share this thing that had happened to them, that had changed them?

No. They didn't. And so, for the first time in her life, Mahlioz Evethisawe had secrets. Her closet was full of skeletons and she would not be letting them out any time soon.

This is a graphic of what I think Mahlioz would look like in her graduating yearbook, with a senior quote! I love senior quotes so much, and I thought this Calvin and Hobbes quote was perfect for graduation :P

The image of Mahlioz was edited (apart from the hat, that was me lmao) by the amazing @Pericles Dralt <3 The entire graphic was made using Canva and its photos

Facing the Darkness
Art form: writing
I honestly do not even really know what this is, but uhhh... enjoy! It was fun to write! Basically about someone finally facing a darkness they've known their whole life and have feared without reason. :P
It was gaining on them. The dark. The figure ran and ran and ran, but it was catching up. They were getting more and more tired, but it never lost energy. They were getting more and more hopeless, but it never lost hope. They couldn't hide; the dark would always find them. That's what everyone said.

Running. Their whole life had been running. From something they barely understood in the first place. Why should they run if they didn't understand it? Why should they be scared if they didn't even know why they were? None of this made any sense. But what other choice did they have?

Their whole family had been like them. Nomads. They could not stay in one place, because the dark would catch them. They were always moving, always running away. Cowards, the figure wanted to say. But they were no better. They were running too.

Just their clothes on their body and a few belongings. Nothing else. It would be too heavy to bring along with them. And not useful enough to risk slowing down. The dark never slowed. It was always gaining. Just like the figure's family had said.

They were gone now. Had died, or had left, choosing their own way to run away. The figure had always been stubborn. They never agreed with the others' ways of doing things, the others' pathways to escape the dark. So they had separated. They didn't know what had happened to the rest of the people. Maybe they had already been engulfed, frozen in terror, having lived a life of fear and hiding and running and exhaustion.

That wasn't what the figure wanted. They didn't know how long they had been on this earth, but it had been a while, at least. The whole time running in fear of something they did not even understand.

The figure stopped, panting. There was no point. Even if the dark meant something worse than death, it could not mean something worse than this. Than existance without purpose. They wanted no more of this. They either wanted to understand, or be done with it all. They were finished with cowardly running away without a good reason.

So they called out to the darkness. Defied it. Faced it for once and for all.

And it responded. And they were engulfed.

And they felt more powerful than ever before.

Love Story
Art form: writing
I'm pretty proud of this one ^^ It is about two kids who grow up together, and throughout everything people are always saying they're romantically interested in each other. But so many love stories are more than that.
Four years old. Already they say: "Look at them together! They're boyfriend and girlfriend!" "They're so cute, they're destined for each other." We are just playing together. With colorful blocks and rolling toy trains. Why do they think of us this way?

Nine years old. We hear them on the playground: "Are they dating?" "Why are they always together?" "They're probably in loooooveeee." We are just staying together. We are best friends. No one questions it for the others. But because one of us is a boy and the other a girl, suddenly we must be in love? We don't even know what love is. Why do they think of us this way?

Fourteen years old. Around us, everywhere you go: "Did you hear? Alice and Charles got together." "I heard Kaya and Tristan broke up." "When are those two going to confess to each other? It's got to a be a friends-to-lovers situation." We are just hanging out together. Our friendship has not wavered; we are not a friends-to-lovers situation. We do not want to be the subject of their rumors. We do not care about romance. Why do they think of us this way?

Eighteen years old. Everyone is leaving. We do not know what we want to do with our lives, like the others do, but we are not worried. Finally, we have some peace. No one is talking about us. No one is trying to put a label on our relationship.

We love each other, but not like that. We will be there for each other through every hardship and every success. We will never let each other go. But that does not mean we have to kiss. That does not mean we must get married. We are each other's favorite person in the world, and that is enough. It is more than enough.

Secret Tunnel
Art form: writing
There was nothing in the world Astrid loved more than secrets. Spoken secrets, written secrets, secret codes, secret lovers, secret tunnels, secret fortunes... all of it interested her. She read books about secrets and loved murder mysteries. She learned secret codes (and some not-so-secret codes) and created her own. And everyone knew she was the best at keeping secrets. If you told it to her, she would take it with her to her grave. Because it meant a lot, a secret, didn't it? It meant trust, it meant respect. And Astrid was happy to earn those.

It was a muggy spring morning when she first found the gate. She lived in a small village in the middle of nowhere. To get to school she had to have her parents drive her 45 minutes every day. Thankfully, today was a weekend, and so she was exploring her village.
There was a gate she had not yet noticed before. That was peculiar, seeing as she passed by this place every day in the car. There hadn't been a gate here before, just walls... right?

The gate lead to a field, surrounded by walls with only this rusty black gate protecting it. But the walls were unclimbable and the gate unopenable. It all seemed so secretive, which made Astrid all the more determined to get in. It was only as she noticed the padlock that she saw the note.
The code is 40110-401-2100-10110-00111-00100
She did not understand, at first. The padlock was a six-letter spinning combination lock - there was no way she could fit that many numbers into it. And why on earth would anyone just give away their code? But then it hit her - this was a secret code. She had to figure out how it worked if she wanted to get in.

It took her nearly a week. Every time she was in the car, every speck of free time she had, she was trying to figure it out. But she managed it. Astrid was no stranger to secret codes, and so she managed it. It was a complicated one, too: full of different codes all mixed together, with math and morse code and binary. It was nowhere as easy as just replacing letters with numbers.

The next weekend, she was back at the gate again. Taking the lock, she spun the letters around until the code was in: T-U-N-N-E-L. The padlock opened with a click. It was like the world had stopped breathing. Why the hint had been there, Astrid did not know, but it felt like it had been a challenge, like the gate wanted her to open it.

So open it she did. And instead of the field that she could see through the gate, she was met with pitch black. A tunnel. A secret tunnel. The code made sense now. And Astrid was going to follow it until she knew every single one of its secrets.
