Early Afternoon
Outfit:ReducioHufflepuff robes, Mary Jane shoes, homemade bracelets
@Rowan BellegnoMatilde arrived at the potions classroom fifteen minutes before it was supposed to start. She had learned from almost being late to her first few classes that it was always better to be early at Hogwarts, at least for the first few days. So right after practically scarfing down her lunch, she had walked as fast as she could without running to where she thought the potions room was supposed to be. She had assumed she was going to get lost -again- but of course, once she’d given herself plenty of time, she got there without even a wrong turn. This is what she got for trying to be early. She pulled a book out of her bag, sighed, and slumped against the wall.
Once she noticed a few other first years, she stood up. Only when one brave girl opened the door did the rest of the students start to trickle inside the classroom. Matilde took a seat near the front, in the second row.
The assignment for their first class was the Forgetfulness potion. Matilde squinted at the instructions for the potion. Potions class was supposed to be really hard. Her brother had told her a lot about Hogwarts, and she tried to remember what he’d said about potions. One thing he said was that it was always better to work together with someone. She looked around, not really recognizing anyone. It was just as well though, it wasn’t like she could switch seats at this point. Feeling shy but determined, Matilde turned to the person sitting next to her. “Hi. My name is Matilde. Do you want to work together?”

I love potions! This is surely one of the best Hogwarts subjects of all! There are people who don't like it, like some members of my family telling me that it doesn't look interesting, but for me, it's completely my type! Mixing ingredients to fill the container, when it can give a funny, funny or simply helpful result, see doctor, I like it! I'm lucky that I discovered this world, the number of things it brings me here!
But, here, the only thing that i don't have, is friends. When i know persons, i like to talk with they but not when i meet some, When I meet them, I get scared, I don't speak well, maybe less to the point of stuttering, but it happens. The only time I'm not afraid of people is at night. It's like I'm under pressure not to make noise so I don't get caught. It's stupid, but it is, nothing else. I have the right!
When my potion buddy spoke to me, I turned red. I didn't know her at all and didn't know what to do at all... What do we do in those moments? "Hi Mat.. Matilde. Uh ok ! we can work together if you want to. Mine is Rowan. I mean, my name is Rowan, not.. not anything else yeah."

@Rowan BellegnoThe girl, Rowan, turned red, looking embarrassed. Matilde smiled at the girl’s response, trying to be reassuring. For some reason, comforting others always made her feel better. She took in the red Gryffindor insignia on her robes. Rowan also had red hair, much brighter than her own, which was more strawberry blonde, and green eyes.
”Okay!” Matilde said, deciding they’d best get started. “Well I think we’re supposed to make our own, technically, but it might be nice to check each other’s work, you know?” Matilde hoped that made sense. She didn’t really have a clue what she was doing.
“Okay, so the first thing we do is… add Lethe River Water and… heat for 20 seconds.” Matilde did as the instructions said, setting up her cauldron and adding the water. As she worked, she tried to look around the classroom a bit, observing the other students at work. She was excited for this class, she had often watched her mother, who was an excellent potion maker, brew various concoctions. Even so, she wasn’t too excited about working with the animal derived ingredients she knew this class would often use. She quickly scanned the instructions for the forgetfulness potion, and was relieved to see that no such items were required for this potion, at least.
After 20 seconds had passed, Matilde turned to Rowan again. “What’s next? Let’s see…”

Matilde smiled at Rowan. The Gryffindor still looked embarrassed. It seemed odd, Matilde thought. Weren’t Gryffindors supposed to be bold? Not that she was judging. Everyone was scared of something, after all. And what a scary situation starting Hogwarts was!
“Or-yes, good idea...I... I approve..." said the girl. "Sorry I don't care about it while it sucks... Normally, it's my favorite class subject from what I see but I'm embarrassed... But it's a good idea to help us two!" She continued.
Matilde nodded kindly as Rowan confirmed her embarrassment. She smiled when the girl said it was her favorite class subject. “My mother always says she loved potions class, she’s an incredible potion master herself. So I have high expectations, I suppose.” She thought about the other classes she’d had so far. “I think my favorite is charms. Or flying. I’m so excited about care of magical creatures, I’m very sad we have to wait until third year.”
Matilde looked back at the girl and noticed that she looked like she was feeling more confident. Then she looked back and forth between her potion instructions and cauldron. She determined it was time for the next step, and carefully dropped in the required number of valerian sprigs.
