Daniel is 5’1 (154.9 cm) with black, wavy hair in a side part, dark brown eyes, and tanned skin. He has quite an athletic build for his age with some muscle after all the hard work in playing basketball back home.

Daniel is a very confident social butterfly who enjoys making new friends any chance he can get. He can get quite flirtatious with certain girls who he is interested in and does get confused when he isn’t the center of attention. When the situation requires it, he’ll stand up for his friends and is quite persuasive.
H I S T O R Y
Daniel de Tienzo y Chavez was born on November 26, 2010, at 2:10 p.m. to Justin Villanueva Tienzo and Isabel de Chavez in Santa Cruz de la Sierra in Bolivia. He also has two younger brothers, Xavier (9) and Mateo (4), and is expecting a baby sister come the summer.
His mother, Isabel, works as a pharmacist. His father, Justin, came from the Philippines and immigrated to Bolivia when he was six (6). Justin played a lot of basketball in high school, which he then introduced to Daniel as soon as he could walk. Daniel grew up playing a lot of basketball for the junior team at his primary school, but never played at a national level due to his complacency. He didn't enjoy basketball as much as his father hoped. He liked it! But not enough to potentially be a career. Instead, his parents had high expectations for him in academics and he spent much of his time studying rather than helping and being around the house. The relationship between the brothers is the most estranged relationship and the brothers feel more like strangers as a result. Blame the basketball practices and academic competitions he threw himself at to gain his father's praise.

Then came the biggest surprise in Daniel's life when he was only a few days away from turning ten years old. He was playing basketball with his father and Xavier when his brother accidentally dropped the ball while dribbling. Daniel’s foot landed on the dropped ball and he fell over, twisting his ankle and grazing his elbow. But by the time he sat up to let his dad examine the injuries, his elbow was fully healed and he could walk without limping. Confused, his dad scheduled an appointment with his doctor for an x-ray and found nothing. It was a family mystery until he turned 11 and a teacher from Castelobruxo showed up at their family doorstep to explain Daniel’s magical abilities and an invitation to study at the magic school. His parents were initially skeptical, but let him go.

Daniel has this natural aura to him. His dad likes to say it may have come from his mixed Filipino and Bolivian genes. After all, Daniel was much taller than the average Filipino boy at his age (again, his mixed genes), had a great singing voice, and had some muscle from playing basketball (both from his Filipino genes). Daniel won the genetic lottery, somehow.

On the weekends, the family would sit on the couch and sing and Daniel would end up singing most of the songs by the end of it. Jimmy Bondoc, Elton John, MYMP, he sang just about anything.

Then came music classes at school. Nothing special. The teacher would get them to pick up an instrument they wanted to learn, spend countless weeks fiddling over strings and keys and, eventually, present a song to the whole class by the end. Daniel picked up the guitar and a few lessons at the piano whenever it was available. Somehow, everyone wanted to play the piano for the final assignment.

He opted out of performing in a group and decided he was confident enough to sing solo. Whenever people came up and asked him how he was doing, he'd play and sing a short segment before his cheeks would heat up and he'd laugh the awkwardness away. What he didn't notice were the stares and quiet whispers he got from his classmates every day.

It soon turned into serenading when many girls at school asked him to play guitar and sing in class. With time, he realised what was happening. He thanked his Filipino father for passing on the genes for a good singing voice.

His fanbase grew when basketball season rolled around. He remembered the first game he ever had where his family and a few other friends showed up. It was normal, nothing crazy. His school won the game and it was announced later in the week. The next game? The crowd grew significantly. Daniel shrugged it off, thinking people were coming since they won their first match. His mother showed him a picture she took with a group of girls who had a banner supporting him. He thought it was funny.

Then the next game's crowd grew, and grew, and grew. He liked to think the team started bringing more people to support, but the amount of banners for him was undeniable. Even the coach took him to the side and asked where he got his fans.

Daniel could only shrug.

The Muggle Condition (453/400)

Daniel de Tienzo y Chavez lived a life without magic for a very long time. He was a Muggle-born after all. Muggle-born: the term his classmates used to describe his lineage. Someone who had no relatives with magical abilities. Some days, the term felt like an insult and a blow to his magical capabilities. He was smart! He could cast some spells! But he couldn't doubt that, if he remained in the Muggle world, he might have been happier.

To Daniel, the discovery of magic was less of a revelation and more of an announcement. When one of the Castelobruxo teachers showed up to their house to explain the wizarding world, Daniel just nodded and agreed without much enthusiasm. He still had assignments to do and a basketball practice with his dad. He practised the same drills and shuffled along the court as directed, learning the correct angle and hand placement to shoot the ball into the hoop while still moving and even jumping. Life was good, even if he had to bathe himself and change into proper clothes before sleeping.

Castelobruxo did not have basketball courts on their grounds, or any courts for that matter. The only thing they had was a Quidditch pitch, an open space for the broom racers, and a fire-proof and blast-proof room within the campus for duellists. Daniel's ability to cast was rather weak so duelling was out of the picture. Racing had been on his mind but figured it wouldn't hurt to also check the Quidditch pitch. So, Daniel visited the Quidditch pitch on the first day back of Second Year. First Year had been a trial run of magic; now it was time to get serious.

The tryouts were simple and not many showed up. Finding the snitch was the worst and Daniel just didn't have the eye for such a small object flitting around. Throwing a hard bludger was difficult mostly because he couldn't hit anyone. Daniel hated waiting for nothing at the hoops.

But chasing? Quaffle grabbing? Daniel loved the movement and the contest for the quaffle. For being the youngest, he managed three of the five quaffles and scored two of them. He liked the competition and the thrill of rushing for a quaffle. It reminded him of basketball with dribbling across the court and manoeuvring to keep the quaffle in his possession before scoring. So, Daniel became one of Castelobruxo's chasers and he was happy for that. He didn't even need to cast spells!

The following months, Daniel's wand was hardly in his hand or even his robes, but you could certainly count on him practising down at the Quidditch pitch. It was the closest thing to basketball Daniel could get.

There is something about ambition, how it not only propels you but also defines you.
