Maybe the Hufflepuffs were getting ahead of themselves. That could happen in the final moments of a duel, when everything seemed so great already. EmmaLee and Alyssea both aimed and landed strong hits, but Axyen... Axyen's wand would turn on its caster, just like EmmaLee's had a few minutes prior. Opeila winced a little when his spell hit himself, knocking him backwards a bit.

But Raizel hadn't given up just yet either. The Gryffindor still raised her wand at one of her opponents and cast a spell herself. Opeila's eyes widened with a bit of surprise when EmmaLee was hit, fell and didn't get up again. "S-Stop!", she would call out the third time this afternoon, waiting for EmmaLee to be taken off the stage and to the hospital wing. "Continue."

Maybe Raizel still stood somewhat of a chance? Opeila looked at the girl who was still standing, but looked like the next spell would knock her out, and then at her opponents. Alyssea's clothes had stopped burning and Axyen also didn't look that bad, despite his spell backfiring.

It was inevitable, though Alyssea was glad EmmaLee pulled through up to this point. It made all the difference from where they were now. Their current standing might've been very different had she not pulled through.

Raizel still managed to remain standing but it was somewhat expected. She was a persistent lion, something that both inspired and scared Alyssea to no end.

Axyen was the second to suffer from a spell backfiring. Alyssea started praying to whoever was listening that it wouldn't follow her. She took a deep breath and remembered her best friend's words. Never back down, and certainly never give up.

She raised her wand, brushing away the ashes on her clothes.

Axyen prepared himself to send another spell. He moved his wand incorrectly, sadly Axyen was unaware of this. "Fwipendo!" Axyen said, messing up his pronunciation. Axyen looked in horror at his wand as he suddenly got flung backwards. Axyen managed to not make it sound, but that actually hurt more than Axyen expected.

It's okay, just make your next spell count... as long as you can do that.. Axyen nervously looked at Raizel who was still standing. Axyen saw his teammate EmmaLee being carried off of the stage before the moderator let the match continue. You can win this.. just don't mess up and don't miss. Axyen thought to himself. He was becoming increasingly worried, the last thing on his mind right now was the crowd, right now it was will we win this? Axyen shook his head. He needed to think in a better mindset if he planned on winning. His next spell needed to count, it was more crucial than ever to not mess this next cast up.

Axyen prepared himself, he knew that whatever happened next could completely determine how the duel goes. Axyen had to stay determined if he planned on making the incredible house of Hufflepuff proud.

Axyen hoped that the next spells cast would bring the duel to a nice win for Hufflepuff. This was starting to look like the last wave of spells sent. Axyen had to avoid looking at the crowd, they were probably watching closely, watching every single move now that the tables seemed to be turning a bit. Axyen felt more nervous than before, that lingering feeling got stronger now that he had gotten this far.

Keep fighting till the very end. Who knows what miracles might happen, correct? That is what Raizel believes in right now. That and she's just too stubborn to back down from a battle.

Two Flipendos soared through the air just as Raizel fired her own. The girl gritted her teeth as pain coursed through her body from those two powerful attacks but surprisingly enough, she was still standing. Even she was surprised that she wasn't knocked out but she has Axyen's spell backfiring on him to thank for that. Luck is what she calls that and her Flipendo just knocked out EmmaLee. One less person throwing spells at her, lessening the pain.

It was getting harder to remain conscious as she is reaching her limit, signified by the way she staggers on that piste to get back into position but the determined and unafraid look in her hazel eyes says that she's still in this game. "Keep going." She uttered but mostly to herself, trying to inspire her whole being to finish this fight even if it might end with her being in more pain on top of a horrible loss.

Raizel tightened her grip on her wand, not trusting her faltering strength right now. She can't afford to lose the only weapon she has nor accidentally drop it right when it matters. She looked at both of her opponents and yeah, they are looking a lot better than her and only one of them was knocked. But heck, the show must go on.

Opeila felt sorry for Raizel. Maybe it was that what made her hope that the Gryffindor might still somehow create a balance in this duel- nothing more than a hope. Some wishful thought that was smashed when the Hufflepuffs finished the duel in seconds.

Raizel's own spell missed, so did Axyen's, but Alyssea managed to hit the Gryffindor, finally knocking her off her feet. Opeila waited a few seconds and only, when she was sure that Raizel wouldn't get back up, spoke up.

"Hufflepuff wins the duel!", she announced what everyone could clearly see. She was a little relieved that it was so clear who won this time. She had seen duels where both teams were still standing just fine, where the moderator had to pick a winner based on whatever they thought was right. At least she wasn't put in such an uncomfortable position.

One last try, an advance spell that she failed earlier. Keep going, keep fighting. This is her last round, she can feel it already but is that gonna stop her? No, of course.

She made the gesture, said the incantation. The spell fired but her aim was off. For a brief second, she felt her vision blurred but she knew her spell missed. But this was it for her. The pain worsened, she felt another spell hitting her and that was it. Everything turned to black as she fell unconscious, her body hitting the floor.

This was really it. She just lost once again. What would people think? What would her team think? What would her grandmother think? The last one, that she doesn't want to know.

Axyen prepared himself and drew stickman legs that looked like they were dancing. "Tarantallegra!" Axyen said, shooting the spell towards Raizel. She dodged and shot a spell back, which Axyen also dodged. Things seemed intense, but luckily Axyen's teammate shot a spell and knocked out Raizel. Axyen flinched a little, that did not look- wait...

Did we win? Axyen wondered to himself, nobody on the Gryffindor team was standing, Axyen had to be sure, he wanted to ask, but no words came out from his mouth. Opeila confirmed that Hufflepuff has won the match. "Yes!" Axyen said excitedly, he really won his first duel. It felt so intense and everything felt so intense. Axyen felt relieved as well, he didn't have to worry about failing anymore. "I-I can't believe it..." Axyen said in a much more calm tone, he was shocked, the last rounds seemed like the big turn around of the duel, but now Axyen could rest easy, because they really won.

Axyen hoped that the entire Gryffindor team and EmmaLee healed up, as Axyen imagined they were most-likely going to wake up in the Hospital Wing. Axyen walked away, maybe this was some nice little dream that he made up. Perhaps he was just dreaming comfortably in the Hufflepuff Common Room, but that would make this the most realistic dream he had by far. Axyen felt at a lost for words, he had no clue what to think about his situation and if he really was in a dream, he wasn't ready to wake up yet.

"I'll train and become better, the next duel... when is it...?" Axyen quietly asked himself, almost out of the room. "Oh well.. I shouldn't worry about it today... but I'll be ready when the time comes..." Axyen thought out loud to himself, still in a quiet tone. Axyen thought about how he completely messed up his wand movement and pronunciation of the spell Flipendo. That was something Axyen would have to work on.

It was awesome, and I wish I had more words to say, but this was the best I was able to come up with.

Even though Alyssea was aiming to win, Raizel was still a friend worth her loyalty. She hoped it wouldn't be her spell that hit the lion, but fate just had to be tempted. Axyen's was the one to miss, not that she had anything against him for that, of course.

Just as Raizel fell to the floor, Alyssea ran towards the other end of the piste and narrowly caught her. Much like the rest of her teammates, she'd need to go to the hospital wing.

A trip to the hospital wing it was, then. No celebrating just yet. Alyssea would visit also for EmmaLee just to see how her fellow badger fared after that duel. Axyen was already on his way out, probably thinking about that Flipendo he hit himself with, Alyssea thought.
