Jake took his place on the platform and looked out at the duellists. They were doing something new now, a three vs three duel. That meant even more chaos, even more things to watch, and even more chances for the worst of spells to go wrong. Jake wasn't feeling too great about it... watching four people in a duel was hard enough! But he was going to just have to do his best as he always did.

He was in pretty good spirits, for the most part. This summer was much better than last, when he'd been fighting with a friend, and the years before that, when he'd been homesick. For once he was actually excited to be here. He'd been so busy during the year it'd felt like. School was getting harder, he was a prefect, he was a duelling captain. It was nice to just have time to relax a little bit. Well, until today anyway.

"First up, from Durmstrang, Beauxbatons, and... Koldovstoretz!" he said, hoping the pause in his voice wasn't obvious. He still struggled with pronouncing that one correctly. Even after he'd practiced it what must have been a hundred times. Why did he always choke in front of a crowd? "We have Kamila, Axel, and Castor! And then the other team from Hogwarts Slytherin house! We have Fang Hui-Ming, Monica Evans, and Guinevere Russettwood!"

As the duellists all took their place he went over the rules, as he always did. He knew the Hogwarts students knew them - but the others were new faces to him. He always was curious about the students from the other school. At least this time the kids were younger! There was only so much damage they could do. Though that was just what he knew of learning at Hogwarts. Who knew what they taught at Durmstrang?

Stepping onto the duelling grounds yet again, her first year as a duellist went better than expected, and No Monica was battling for top house! Or something like that.... any matter, she had played her part, and earned her place in summer games! Probably the only reason things worked out for her to attend camp was due to the fact she was meant to compete alongside her house.

She held her wand, her partners at her side, Ming, someone who has become a familiar face to Monica, and Guinevier, Monica's last duelling partner. A smile sprawled across Monica's face, the girl was far to excited to contain it. She nodded over to those they were competing with, offering a good luck gesture by raising her wand. As the moderator introduced the competitors, and the game was about to commence, Monica took her place on the piste.... this was going to be fun!

Even after years of dueling and practice, for some reason Castor still felt jittery before all her matches. It was a peculiar sense of perhaps excitement or anxiety. Still, she held her head high as she stepped out onto the dueling grounds.

She kept her hand steady, feeling the warmth of her wand handle and wishing she had a glass of water. No matter, she gave a stony look to those around her and stepped into place. She was sure that after casting a few spells she’d bounce right back into it, her regular precise self.

Guinevere was still slightly sleepy when she walked onto the dueling grounds for the summer tournament, even thought it was in the afternoon already. She had woken up later than usual, but had tried to look presentable for her duel with the foreign students. She was familiar with her two duelling partners this time, since she had shared duels with them the previous season.
Guinevere racked her brain, reviewing the spells she had learnt the past school year, and shook out her wand arm. Hopefully this duel would be good.

Hui-Ming approached the duelling piste with the same kind of seriousness that one might expect from a student giving an exam, or an athlete before a big game.

He inclined his head slightly at his opponents in acknowledgment, before folding up the sleeves of his shirt and drawing his wand. Different students had different philosophies to duelling, and this time he did not have the luxury of extensive preparation by pre-analyzing his opponents. Would they go at this like the Ravenclaws? Or perhaps they'd prefer a more bombastic view.

This was going to be...interesting.

"Let's win this," he said gently to his teammates.

The curtains fell. And the silence was deafening

Summer dueling season was here, and Axel felt...unprepared? Yeah, that was the word. Even with the amount of practicing he had done, he was still nervous to go up against the Hogwarts duelers on their home field. With enough luck and charm, he may be able to hold his own. This would be the perfect chance to prove something, and he was all about proving himself to anyone and everyone that would watch.

He took his place and listened carefully to the instructions given, able to understand them well enough to know what to do. He scanned the area, taking in the beauty of it all. This truly was a nice place. He'd definitely have to come back when invited.

"Udachi,"Good luck. He said to his teammates, then took his stance. This was going to be interesting.

Jake looked around at all of the duelists - was it him or did some of the other houses' students look nervous? Well at least he wasn't the only one. Six duelists all flinging spells? This was going to be wild. As soon as he said begin, he looked toward the Slytherin team - he knew how intense dueling Slytherins could be some times, even if these weren't the scariest ones. Still, on a duellng platform they were comfortable, and didn't hold back. And they didn't disappoint - they were the first to strike right away, with Hui-Ming shooting fire at two of his opponents at the same time, both spells hitting their mark right away. Before the guests could even point their wands, Guinevere set a blindfolding spell at Castor, and just like that, the battle had begun.

Jake had gotten more used to the fire that was used in duels, even though he still didn't like it. But if the other team was out of sorts before, how would they be now, with their robes lighting and one of them unable to see? But the duel had only just begun - there was more than enough time for them to get it back together. This could still be quite the fight.

"Obcuro!" Guinevere shouted out, casting the spell in the direction of one of the foreign students, Castor. Beside her, she saw Monica casting the same spell as her, but rather unfortunately, it did not go off as intended. Further down their makeshift piste, Ming had sucessfully hit two of their opponents with a fire spell. Guinevere could not help but grin a little. The duel was getting on a good start. She hoped she didn't jinx it by thinking that.

For just a moment, time sped up. Castor tried to conjur the spell in her mind, but not soon enough as her opponent flicked her wand and shouted a spell. Before she could even understand what word had meant, her vision went black like ink on paper. She tried not to stumble too much, slowly regaining some of her other senses. She prayed that her other teammates weren’t in the same boat.
