Antoinette Asteria ★ First Year ★ Gryffindor

After years of trying, Diana and Rufus didn’t think they could have children, when Antoinette came into their life. She was, and is, their miracle baby. However, this resulted in her mother becoming overly worried for her safety, which meant Antoinette’s carefree nature was often slightly stilted growing up. Still, they were as close a family as one could get, and Antoinette grew up loved and well cared for.

She had three best friends in school, two boys and a girl, but was otherwise quite shy in class, and would sometimes get teased for her quietness. The four of them would spend their days making up dances, watching movies and playing muggle board games. None of them were ever made aware of Annie’s magical heritage, and it was with a heavy heart when she finally broke the news and told them she’d be leaving London and going up to some fancy muggle school up North in the fall. As much as Annie was looking forward to life as a witch, leaving her friends behind and lying to their faces was an aspect of magic she struggled with. It felt wrong to keep such a big part of herself from them.

Rufus, a muggle, is a vet and from old money. Antoinette’s paternal grandparents owned a farm Surrey, and it was here that her love of animals began. Antionette spent most summers running around their farm and helping her father tend to the cows and sheep. Her mother, Diana, a witch and working as a Healer at St Mungo’s, always taught Antoinette the importance of kindness and self-sacrifice, and Antoinette hoped to one day help the world as her mother did every day, caring for those who could no longer care for themselves.

F I R S T ● M A G I C | [font=Corbel Light]Having grown up with a witch for a mother, Antoinette was well aware of the magical world. However, she first noticed her own magical abilities when she was around 7 years old.

She can remember playing with her friends out in the garden, a game called “stuck-in-the-mud.” This is a game where you are chased by an opponent, and if you are caught, you must stand where you are and hold your arms out, so a teammate can go under your arms and “free” you.

However, it became all too real when Antoinette unintentionally caused her friend’s feet to stick to the floor! Her friend started crying, and Diana had to quickly improvise and lift Annie’s friend from their shoes (while she did some quick magic to unstick when the children weren’t looking!) They were all subsequently told there were some dangerous chemicals in the ground, and to keep away from that area. Antoinette felt immensely guilty, and vowed never to play again, but wasn’t until that evening, when she sat down with Diana, that she realised what it all meant. Antoinette was a witch!

𝑺 𝑪 𝑯 𝑶 𝑶 𝑳 ● 𝑳 𝑰 𝑭 𝑬 | [font=Corbel Light]Annie couldn't believe it. She was finally here! The castle had looked beautiful and haunting as she’d travelled by boat and looked up at Hogwarts for the very first time.

Feeling extremely nervous, she walked through The Great Hall and sat upon the stool that would decide her home for the next seven years. The Sorting Hat struggled between Hufflepuff and Gryffindor for Antoinette, but eventually, Gryffindor was made her house. Annie was surprised, having never imagined herself a Gryffindor, but elated!

Her first lessons proved challenging, but fun, and she quickly bonded with her fellow Gryffindors and managed to make some friends along the way. While there’s not much to report just yet, Annie is eager to continue her brand-new adventure at Hogwarts.
