Even before his first day on Earth, Ari’s fate was sealed. He would be a bold child born to parents with ideals cemented in pride and a belief that the best one could be was to be their own truest self. And he would uphold this to the highest degree.

His mother, Elvera Elm, is a cherished member of the Muggle Liaison Office, a division of the Ministry of Magic’s Department of Magical Accidents and Catastrophes. She had been there for around 2 years when she met Sebastian Gwild, an aurologist. Both had attended Hogwarts and vaguely remembered each other from passing hallway glances and events, Elvera proudly representing Ravenclaw as a seeker on the intramural quidditch team while Sebatian was a Slytherin who had top grades in divination nearly every year.

Their hearts were quick to fall in love, and they were eager to marry and begin their lives together. However, this was met with backlash in particular from Sebastian’s family. While Elvera was a pureblood, her boyfriend’s parents were vocally repugnant of how she carried herself, her interests, and especially of the fact she worked with muggles on a daily basis. She loved her job, she loved helping both mugglefolk and those of the wizarding world, and she would not change that. While Sebastian was not involved with muggles often, he found himself asking questions about them and grew curious the more time he spent with Elvera. This was heresy in the eyes of his mother and father.

While Sebastian consistently argued over this clash of views with his parents and remained unwavering in his love for the woman he was set to marry, the Gwilds also remained stubborn, and as a result, Sebastian’s parents did not attend his wedding. He and Elvera were quick to distance themselves from that side of the family and chose to move to a part of England that was not as polished as what they had both grown accustomed to throughout their lives. They were able to obtain a nice house in Barking that suited their needs while not displaying excessive grandeur, and soon after they settled in, their dreams of starting a family began to take shape when Elvera became pregnant.

Arissen Christopher Gwild was born on September 2nd, 2009. He was their pride and joy. Right away, they both agreed for Ari to live in a world where he wasn’t sheltered from muggle people and their culture but for him to also embrace his life as one who would inherit magic and what that would entail. It didn’t matter what his family members would have to say. He was loved and cherished by his parents, and that was what he needed most.

From a very early age, Ari showed a lot of curiosity about the world. He wasn’t afraid to ask questions about people or things he found interesting. He would ask his mom about work when she was home, and he would flip through the pictures in his dad’s many tomes. As he got older, he would regularly borrow his parent’s books, pouring over the pages and learning from them about both muggle and magical cultures. He grew especially attached to music and was given a guitar for Christmas when he was 7. He would play and sing often for his parents, sharing what he had taught himself from books and listening to the radio.

Another one of Ari’s favorite interests and pastimes growing up was quidditch, courtesy of his mom. She introduced him to the sport at a young age, and he was instantly hooked by the speed and energy of the game. There was something to always keep his eyes on during a match, and he enjoyed that a lot. He tried to learn the game should he get the chance to play once he got older, but decided it was not destined for him. This did not deter him from his love of the sport though, and for his 9th birthday, his parents treated him with tickets to attend the Quidditch World Cup. It was a wonderful experience he would be sure to hold onto for the rest of his life. He put most of his time into learning various things in preparation for his future magical education and inevitable muggle interactions.

After returning from the Quidditch World Cup, Ari and his family sat down to eat cake and celebrate. His mother lit the candles and they began to sing "Happy Birthday". As they sang, Ari began to think of what he would wish for. Once they finished the song, he closed his eyes and blew out the candles, praying his wish would come true. The moment he blew out the candles, though, confetti erupted from where the flames were, showering the entire family in joyful color. A little shocked, everyone erupted in laughter, the surprise adding to the already happy day. This also confirmed Ari’s aptitude for magic, which his parents had easily suspected would manifest sooner or later.

Two years later, his letter of acceptance to Hogwarts arrived. Now it was time to show his peers and his future teachers what he was capable of. As much as he would miss his parents, he knew they were proud of him and what he would accomplish at their alma mater. Suitcases packed and wand in hand, he ventured onto the train for his next adventure.

The next hours passed by very slowly as he watched the countryside roll by.
Then, the massive castle of Hogwarts loomed into view against the black starlit sky. More than eager to get off the train and cross the river, Ari was one of the first students to exit the Hogwarts Express. Other kids his age filed out to head towards the school, children of all different kinds donning pointed hats and black robes awaiting one of the most important and special parts of becoming a Hogwarts student: the sorting ceremony.

As the students went single file across to face the sorting hat, nervousness was beyond tangible for everyone. The world seemed to blur out of focus as the first round of names were called.
"Gwild, Ari", the professor said, and everything snapped back into focus. He made his way to the Sorting Hat, and it was gently lowered onto his head. A few seconds passed before a shout of "RAVENCLAW" was heard. The table of blue robes erupted in cheers and clapping, and Ari knew right then he was going to love it here. This was just the beginning for him.
